Blaming ALDUB: Why ALDUB Gets All The Blame?

Blaming ALDUB for everything that went haywire wrong in the Philippines has gotten in vogue. The ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon has just closed (?) an monster hit segment last 24 October 2015 at the Philippine Arena. The next thing you know is that everyone wanted a piece of the action. Everyone including the haters. Because fans remember more the haters from the rabid fans.

In an effort to not be explicit (or profanity-laden). I would try to focus on the issues. I may have blocked some pages on Facebook that proliferated quotes blaming ALDUB for the nation’s ills. Then again, images get downloaded, uploaded with credit to the original uploader and spread around. It goes viral to the point where you lose track of who originally uploaded the photos bearing the incriminating quotes. In their failure to contribute to a better life for their fellowmen. They would rather impose on other people like ALDUB and the ALDUB Nation the guilt trip. Whatever they cannot do for the country, they go on blaming ALDUB instead.

It’s been a trying week for fans and spectators alike after the EB special episde Sa Tamang Panahon. And the hardest thing so far is pretending that everything is okay when haters gonna hate. Blaming ALDUB meant accusing fans of ALDUB. The ALDUB Nation is allegedly contributing to the dumbing down of the masses. An accusation that has constantly plagued Eat Bulaga as of these past few years. Surely I can’t help writing about them. But for good measure, I will not mention them here. I don’t want to be reduced to some backlink data. (If you’re a little techie, you know what backlinking meant to a blogger or online content provider.)

They (plural, maybe) attribute to ALDUB the people’s refusal to participate in intelligent discussion. That most inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation find it easier to unite a country when it involved something shallow and insignificant as that of the ALDUB KalyeSerye. And we know it’s election season. Almost everyone is looking forward to a new administration because the current president allegedly got the post by accident. Blaming ALDUB for society’s ills has become the latest shorthand for accusing Filipinos today of being dumb and ignorant of socially-relevant issues. Okay. Does it make it them feel better about themselves? I doubt it. (And yes, you can quote me for that.)

Blaming ALDUB
Source: Eat Bulaga Telecast

There are photos blaming ALDUB for the nation’s poverty. I remember a photo showing a beggar with a child. The caption would refer to the money poured in buying ALDUB-related merchandize and products endorsed. But not for the poor who are too weak to even know the existence of ALDUB. Then there are photos proliferating online about the unity that the world witnessed on Twitter. The kind of unity that doesn’t show whenever socially-relevant issues demand to be discussed. And perhaps the worst of them is the crowd blaming ALDUB for some youth’s ignorance about Apolinario Mabini. Seriously? ALDUB has become the convenient scapegoat?

It’s the kind of attitude that reminded me of Lola Nidora in the first months of the phenomenal KalyeSerye. Lola Nidora blamed Alden for the lost diary, for the failed attempts at raising cash for the diary’s ransom and for practically anything that came to her mind. For everything that she refused to take responsibility for, she blamed Alden. And poor Alden just accepted everything just because he didn’t want to get on YayaDUB’s bad side. Also Alden still respects Lola Nidora in the same manner that polite kids respect their elders. Simply because they are the elderly. This is the same attitude I see in people that are blaming ALDUB.

Eat Bulaga doesn’t deny being more than what it is. It’s main purpose is to entertain. There are enough public affairs programs that cater to people’s needs. In a nation riddled with half-assed soap operas and repetitive plots on primetime. ALDUB is the best alternative that the Philippine audience has found. It may be a parody of your conventional primetime TV series. But that is the point. Soap operas are so washed up. When you are sick and tired of the same old storylines, all that is left for you to do is parody them. In other words, blaming ALDUB revealed a major hypocrisy in society today. That blaming ALDUB is the easiest way to blame most soap operas in dumbing down society because it’s the biggest fish to catch.

Blaming ALDUB
Source: Eat Bulaga Telecast

The creative team behind ALDUB tried to make a difference though. Sometimes it can easily be viewed as their attempt to be socially-relevant. To show people that it’s not just about conquering social media. It’s about uniting people to do more with Alden and YayaDUB as inspiration. Doing good things in the name of ALDUB meant that Eat Bulaga is using the ALDUB popularity to get everyone involved in significant projects. Just like the ALDUB Library Project.

Still, as expected, naysayers still find fault in things that Eat Bulaga does through the ALDUB phenomenon. Blaming ALDUB for the fragmented nation is a subliminal way of saying “I am better than you because I cater to more intelligent television programming”. Blaming ALDUB for the dumbing down of society gives these haters a false sense of superiority. It cannot even guarantee that they are way smarter and more educated than us. But they still do it because fans are quick to jump at anyone that goes against the grain, so to speak. And sometimes that is the point why they are quick on blaming ALDUB. Have you ever realized how difficult it is to generate incoming website traffic lately? If blogging is just a hobby for you, then maybe you just blog because you have an opinion to share. And that’s what made some “haters” different from certain ALDUB hate sites. They say what they want because it’s what’s on their minds. Not everyone is good at keeping their opinions to themselves. It results in verbal diarrhea before they even realize.

And it shifts our attention to some overzealous inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation quick to pounce on anyone blaming ALDUB for society’s ills. You know why most ALDUB fan accounts on Twitter and Facebook constantly remind you of “good vibes”? Because they also know the game plan of certain ALDUB hate sites.

Welcome to the internet in case you haven’t been informed yet. This is the ultimate breeding ground for trolls and attention whores. Some fans knew that pure love, adulation and proper manners will get them nowhere. Not even a glance from their beloved ALDUB FB group page admins and ALDUB FB fan pages. They often forget that people like Maine “YayaDUB” Mendoza and Alden Richards are flooded daily with tweets and IG comments. Do you really believe they deliberately ignored the love you have for ALDUB? No. Of course not. Then again some fans are more concerned about being butthurt than considering the difficulty of replying to ALL TWEETS AND COMMENTS. Blaming ALDUB for your failed efforts at getting the attention you craved brings out the worst in some fans.

This brings to the Eat Bulaga Facebook page. It’s a nice place to hang around when you wanted to see all of the official photos and KalyeSerye episode replays. As long as you don’t go to the comments’ section of the photos and videos, you’d be fine. The comments’ section occasionally has a few articles and odes to ALDUB. The rest are efforts to fish likes and comments. Personally, if I like your comment, I will click like. Sometimes the word “like” is interchangeable with the word “noted”. You know that your comment was read because of the like button. Otherwise, it would just look like some “Click Like” contest. It’s occasionally annoying. Then again, I don’t always frequent the comments’ section. I might see random comments again blaming ALDUB for whatever idiocy occurred online again.

Blaming ALDUB

I know that whether I rebut these haters blaming ALDUB or not. They would keep on their daily tirade of the ALDUB blame game and hatred proliferation. This gives new meaning to that hit “pabebe girl” quote. “Kung gusto nyo, gayahin nyo kami! Wala kayong pake!” (If you want to, imitate us! You don’t care!) Sometimes, “wala kayong pake” can be loosely translated as “You have no business meddling here”. But I believe in democracy. Democracy has a funny way of exposing the bigots. Social media even gave them a spotlight for all their bigotry to be seen. FB statuses and tweets are easy to delete. Then again there’s screenshot.

And now you know why I didn’t mention who these “haters” are. It’s not simply because I refuse to give them the spotlight. Or the attention they badly craved. I learned from a friend on Facebook that you hate the deed, not the person. In Christian jargon, that’s hate the sin. Not the sinner. In short, you don’t play by these haters’ game. Blaming ALDUB for society’s ills for them meant putting Alden and YayaDUB themselves in a bad light instead of whatever negative they allegedly did. Whether this is their intention or they just hate the dumbing down of the masses, people still end up interpreting it as hating the tandem that people love today.

There are different ways of expressing nationalism. But if this nationalism would blind you to irrational hatred and generalization of everyone that loved ALDUB, re-examine your idea of being “socially-relevant”. At first it may seem like an exercise in futility to rebut these ALDUB haters. But staying quiet doesn’t help either. I was quiet. But I was never blind. And if you don’t speak up against people who enjoy riding on their high horse, they will think that it is okay to step on your rights. That it is okay to bully you around. Speaking up would give them an idea that their game of blaming ALDUB doesn’t sit well with everyone.

ALDUB Getting Closer: The Third Sister

#ALDUBGettingCloser The ALDUB Getting Closer episode also gets us closer to the secrets that Lola Nidora had been keeping from YayaDUB. With the arrival of Donya Tidora on the ALDUB Love on Top episode, Lola Nidora has been doing whatever she could to shield YayaDUB from the revelations that Donya Tidora had been up to. From leaving her in the mansion at the ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode to keeping her away from Donya Tidora any way possible.

ALDUB Getting Closer
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

YayaDUB is bewildered too at the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. She is startled at the events. But she would not dare break her vow to Lola Nidora that she would to nobody. Nobody, nobody but Lola Nidora (clap, clap, clap, point). Her advice of “Bawal ang sad, dapat happy” (Sadness prohibited, happiness always) is quite easy to follow though. Compared to Lola Nidora, YayaDUB has less concerns. Mainly, seeing Alden Richards back from Bicol. Lola Nidora sent him back there after complaining that the pili nut package is not enough.

Alden Richards was shown at the airport bound for Bicol. He made sure to post his messages for YayaDUB and Lola Nidora to see. Lola Nidora had been demanding so much from Alden compared to Frankie. Now that the diary seems like the least of her concerns. In the ALDUB Getting Closer episode, she’s upset at the lengths that Donya Tidora went through in searching for the third sister, Tinidora.

And so the ALDUB nation awaited the arrival of Donya Tinidora. A silver gray car arrived to the beats of “Rico Mambo”. Out came Donya Tinidora with her bodyguards. Her bodyguards were namely Cuando, Cuando, Cuando. (Finally. Jose Manalo agreed to don makeup and go in drag.) As she entered the scene she immediately called the attention of her sisters, Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora. Lola Nidora was not happy. The circle is complete with the JoWaPao (Jose/Wally/Paolo) in drag as the triplets. Donya Tinidora would immediately want to speak with Divina at the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. But Lola Nidora was quick to send her out to an errand.

ALDUB Getting Closer
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Donya Tinidora tried to confirm if she heard her sisters correctly. And so she discovered in the ALDUB Getting Closer episode that Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora call Divina “Yaya”. How dare they call “Yaya” their own relative. Donya Tinidora’s instincts kicked in. She lost Divina and found her again only to see her as her sister’s nanny. A status she didn’t deserve. It reminds viewers of the ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode where Lola Nidora admitted that she never had a nanny until now. She basically raised Divina to serve her.

The ALDUB Getting Closer episode is where YayaDUB was actually called “Divina”. It seems as if Donya Tinidora was the one who gave her name. Also, much of the animosity between the triplets against each other were unleashed. Donya Tinidora resented Lola Nidora for losing Divina. Lola Nidora resented Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora for leaving her behind in the Philippines to care for Divina. Lola Nidora was bitter at the thought that you can never choose your family.

Donya Tinidora insisted that this is the right time for Divina to learn of the truth. Lola Nidora was aghast. How dare Donya Tinidora try to tell Divina the truth when she abandoned her to Lola Nidora. Donya Tinidora is happy to see Divina again. It was a stark contrast to the emotions she felt upon seeing her sisters. Donya Tidora went to great lengths to find her in order to tell YayaDUB the truth. (At this point, the terms “YayaDUB” and Divina became interchangeable.)

ALDUB Getting Closer
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

But Donya Tinidora had a secret of her own as revealed in the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. Divina is not her daughter. And she resented Donya Tidora for making her believe that Divina is her daughter. As she was about to explain the events that transpired then, Lola Nidora left her. Lola Nidora’s excuse was her shock at seeing Donya Tinidora with a kid. And she reprimanded Donya Tidora as well for making her believe that Divina is her daughter. She discovered that she is in no capacity to bear children.

As Lola Nidora pressed for more information from Donya Tinidora, she saw YayaDUB come back. Calling her again as “Divina”, she tried to cut to the chase and tell her everything. Until Lola Nidora’s phone rang. The ALDUB Getting Closer is getting farther from clarifying events that transpired. As Lola Nidora’s nanny, YayaDUB answered the phone herself. She handed it later to Lola Nidora. The caller was Alden. And he just confirmed his arrival to Bicol. Lola Nidora then warned Alden of the deep challenge ahead for him.

ALDUB Getting Closer
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Donya Tinidora was upset at YayaDUB’s behavior. She thought YayaDUB was having a seizure. Lola Nidora reasoned out that it’s part of her personality. As Lola Nidora tried to send YayaDUB out to an errand again, Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora tried to stop her. Confused, YayaDUB ended up ranting “Walang magbabago sa pamilyang ito!” (Nothing in this family will change!) Donya Tinidora took advantage of the situation to approach YayaDUB. She tried to pacify her here in the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. Asking her why she talks all by herself.

This family drama has started getting into YayaDUB’s nerves. She was not even given an appropriate introduction to Donya Tinidora. Lola Nidora tried to keep her away from her sisters. But now that Donya Tinidora has distracted Lola Nidora. She went straight to YayaDUB. She’s happy that the girl she called Divina is now all-grown up. She did not go for the jugular though. She just mentioned how as a young toddler. Divina was taken by Donya Tinidora by the breakwater. There, she would play with gross things found floating by the breakwater. Donya Tinidora considered those moments as the happiest in her life.

ALDUB Getting Closer
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

How did Donya Tinidora lose little Divina? She woke up one day with Divina gone. She went insane and ended up looking like her sisters, Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora. She used to be the prettiest among them. Now years of insanity has deglamorized her as seen in the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. Talking to the person now known as YayaDUB. Donya Tinidora discovered another anomaly. “Kundi makakarinig ng music, hindi magsasalita!” (If she doesn’t hear music, she will not talk!)

Lola Nidora insisted that the raised the kid in a way she knew best. She then accused her sisters of leaving her behind with a kid to raise. Lola Nidora was so confused at this point. She eventually asked the blame game to stop. YayaDUB was ready to listen to the truth when Lola Nidora sent her away again. If she had to buy the whole pharmacy so that she will not come back in time to hear the truth. Lola Nidora would make her do that here in the ALDUB Getting Closer episode.

Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora agreed that the child had to know the truth. Lola Nidora insisted that it is not yet the right time. But she cannot identify when the right time would be. So Donya Tinidora went forward and revealed whose child Divina is. Divina, better known among family and friends as YayaDUB, is the daughter of their younger sister. As Donya Tinidora tried to say their younger sister’s name, the ALDUB Getting Closer episode goes into cliffhanger mode.

The Facebook cut of the ALDUB Getting Closer episode showed Alden buying the laing and pinangat. He neatly packed them in styrofoam containers himself. He prepared the package and took some photos by the Cagsawa ruins. He had to show proof that he really went to Bicol to buy the items that Lola Nidora needed. Alden was happy to buy the items for Lola Nidora. Everything for YayaDUB.

How would the family drama affect the relationship that YayaDUB nurtured with Alden? As the story switches from a nasty case of sibling rivalry to a family secret yet to be revealed. All that YayaDUB could think of is Alden’s safe flight back to Metro Manila. And there would be more to come after the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola: Secrets and Lies

#ALDUBAngLihimNiLola The ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode would end up focusing on the volatile relationship between the twin sisters. Donya Tidora has arrived to mess around with Lola Nidora further. Lola Nidora is already having problems raising the money needed for ransom. She also had to worry about as she keeps on getting irritated at practically anything that Alden did.

ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola
Source: Eat Bulaga Telecast

YayaDUB was not around. Lola Nidora reasoned that she got too preoccupied with Dubsmash. She then showed some clips of YayaDUB DUBSmashing the best lines that Lola Nidora delivered on the ALDUB KalyeSerye so far. From the ALDUB Against All Odds episode to the instances where she was berating the Rogelios. To the moments where she had nothing positive to say to Alden. It was like Lola Nidora’s greatest hits compilation. Everyone was waiting whether YayaDUB would appear on the ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode. It has happened before when everyone thought she wasn’t around only to pop out of nowhere.

Lola Nidora’s day was ruined again at the arrival of Donya Tidora. The ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode almost sparked into a showdown between the vertically-conflicted twins. Donya Tidora obviously took pleasure at seeing Lola Nidora feel uncomfortable at her presence. Again, she brought some gifts. A packed duck dish for Jose Manalo. And a jar of atchara to Lola Nidora so she can tolerate her face more. Lola Nidora returned the jar of atchara. Maybe because Lola Nidora viewer herself and her sister as cursed with the same face.

ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola
Source: Eat Bulaga Telecast

Donya Tidora then went to presenting another set of incriminating photos. Days of their childhood in Massachusetts. She had them saved in her smartphone. Every photo seemed random until a picture of the twins was observed as torn. The photo showed Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora. One of the founding fathers of Eat Bulaga, Joey de Leon, was one of the first to notice the torn part. As if someone was deliberately removed from the photo. The plot thickens in the ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode.

This was the part in the ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode were Donya Tidora started playing with Lola Nidora’s head. She deliberately slowed down her manner of talking. It was as if she was waiting for the truck horn to signal the screen freeze. But no. She just enjoyed seeing Lola Nidora squirm. With the several times that she said “Eto na talaga” (This is really it), it can get a lot of viewers burned pretty quick. And so she really went for the jugular. She spat out what Lola Nidora had been keeping for so long.

According to Donya Tidora, YayaDUB is her niece. And no, YayaDUB is not Lola Nidora’s daughter. Both Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora are YayaDUB’s biological aunts. This means that YayaDUB’s biological mother is the third sister. The ALDUB Ang Lihim Ni Lola episode teased who that third sister may be. Jose was suggesting that the third sister is dead though. With YayaDUB nowhere in sight, Lola Nidora could at least take comfort at not having her hear what Donya Tidora has to say. She just made YayaDUB believe that Donya Tidora is a bad influence.

ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola
Source: Eat Bulaga Telecast

If YayaDUB is Lola Nidora’s biological niece, why did she end up becoming her nanny? At the ALDUB Love on Top episode, Lola Nidora openly bewailed how Donya Tidora had the best in life way back when they were toddlers. Donya Tidora already had nannies and bodyguards at her service even then. Lola Nidora on the other hand managed to have a nanny only late in life. But does it have to be her niece?

Just in case you thought that Donya Tidora has totally stolen the spotlight, Alden is shown in between the sister’s verbal tussles. He even called Jose Manalo to confirm his arrival in Bicol. Alden was then shown standing in front of a Bicolano pasalubong (souvenir) shop. Jars and jars of pili nut products for Alden to choose from. Then again why choose when you can buy as much as you want? The ALDUB Ang Lihim Ni Lola episode added another pain in the ass for Lola Nidora. She miscalculated again what Alden can do for YayaDUB. To think that by this time, Lola Nidora has received more gifts from Alden.

ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Then again, it doesn’t mean Alden won’t buy a gift for YayaDUB too. Since YayaDUB often went out with Lola Nidora, he found it sensible to buy her a hat. YayaDUB’s fainting tendencies may not have yet been totally cured. So it was very considerate of Alden to buy a hat for YayaDUB. It may not be as glamorous as Lola Nidora’s head dresses. But lovely enough to keep her face exposed. The ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode was a win-win situation for Alden and Donya Tidora.

In lieu of these revelations, what lies ahead for the ALDUB pair? Lola Nidora has gotten away with too many lies by now. It would be tough to think that Alden’s efforts would be enough. Donya Tidora turned out to be a convenient distraction for ALDUB in this case. With the secrets and lies unfolding. The ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode has just begun the end for Lola Nidora. Keep tuned in to Eat Bulaga, Monday to Saturday at noontime, in order not to miss out. Like their official Facebook page, Eat Bulaga, for the ALDUB Ang Lihim ni Lola episode replay.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: The Radio Crossover

The devoted ALDUB nation faithful have started assembling the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist. There would be favorites and there would be songs largely based on which songs got used on a certain episode. Eventually some of these songs have been attached to the ALDUB phenomenon. Who would have thought that Dubsmash’s penchant for attracting lip synch enthusiasts would cause rediscovering old favorites?

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now

ALDUB (Alden Richards and YayaDUB) has yet to meet. But for a couple whose communication stayed stuck on monitors. It enthralled a nation accustomed to love teams and reel tandems. And it did not stop them from having a ready playlist from which they can farm their ready-made responses. These go hand-in-hand with the handwritten signs they let each other read. In a sense, the ALDUB nation has assembled their ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist too. No wonder MYMP’s cover of Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” fitted the ALDUB situation.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: Bahala Na

“Bahala Na” literally means “So be it”. When YayaDUB went for the jugular and went all out in letting Alden know her true feelings. YayaDUB didn’t know at that time if Alden felt something more. Besides his Dubsmash responses in the early days were limited to “Twerk It Like Miley”. A gesture that Lola Nidora despised. Then Alden started becoming “cooperative” to YayaDUB’s affections. They threw caution to the wind when they decided to become a couple despite never meeting in person. It just felt so right. The fact that “Bahala Na” got included in the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist even endeared the ALDUB nation to the JADINE nation. This is because “Bahala Na” was sung by James Reid and Nadine Lustre.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: Ngiti

“Ngiti” by Ronnie Liang is one of the underrated OPM love songs. It doesn’t talk much of unrequited love. Just an ode to a beloved whose smile got him smitten. Alden Richards would get more than a “ngiti” (smile) from YayaDUB with all the affections and sweetness he shows him. Also, he did not assume that he immediately knew what would make YayaDUB smile. Instead of immediately sending her chocolates, he asked her first what her favorite food is. YayaDUB then answered “isaw ng manok” (chicken intestines). The next episode, Alden had the boxes of grilled chicken intestines to her. And Alden received more than a smile in return. Fans still swoon to “Ngiti”. Getting it associated with ALDUB made it an automatic inclusion into the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: God Gave Me You

It doesn’t matter what you religion is. If you are a devoted ALDUB fanatic, you know how Brian White’s “God Gave Me You” brought out the believer in everyone. In a nation still largely religious, despite the youth’s tendency to feel giddy first and be logical later. They still ask for God’s guidance. A sign that someone right for them would come along. Someone that can sweep them off their feet and make everything feel right. To a point it may seem like an overused cliche to use God in thinking that there is someone out there meant for you. But songs like these caused hashtags like #ALDUBKeepTheFaith. Praying does not mean staying down on your knees. Including this in the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist meant working your ass off to make that love work too. Then throw a prayer for some spiritual guidance.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: Sa Yo

Silent Sanctuary‘s “Sa Yo” confirmed the pop band’s reputation. This band makes the most heartbreaking yet underrated love songs EVER!!!! It might actually be the main reason why not everyone is so comfortable listening to their songs. The songs are so beautiful that they hurt. It almost bordered on being emo. The kind of songs that make some listeners grab a blade and slash their wrists. And this was the song used in the Eat Bulaga Facebook Page when it uploaded a recap video of the ALDUB Maybe This Time episode. It friggin’ hurt to see Alden chase YayaDUB all the way to the road. The moment the line “Tumingin sa ‘king mata. Magtapat ng nadarama” (Look right through my eyes. Tell me your feelings.) Every time the ALDUB nation would relive the meeting that never was. This song immediately comes to mind.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: Thinking Out Loud

The song in the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist that annoyed Lola Nidora so much. (Apart from “Twikilay! Twikilay!”) She called it the “Dalinay! Dalinay!” song. Of course, for comic purposes, it showed how Lola Nidora’s rich exterior might just be a facade. Otherwise, she could manage to pronounce it correctly. “Darling I will be loving you ’til we’re seventy”. Then again, Alden is unfazed. YayaDUB’s giddy reactions to his efforts are enough to keep him motivated.  Frankie would occasionally sing this slurred just to mock Alden. While everyone is still wondering what happened to Lola Nidora’s “Countdown to Tamang Panahon”. ALDUB would stay sweet to one another. And it really proved Lola Nidora’s claim that despite everything, Alden remained polite and respectful. Alden is focused on YayaDUB. Focused enough to keep on loving her until Lola Nidora’s alleged age – 70.

ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist: Haplos

Of course, the main song that would top our chart would that song that Alden Richards himself sung – Haplos. A song originally performed by pop band Shamrock, one line hit the spot. “Sabihin mo sa akin. Kelan mali ang pag-ibig?” (Tell me. When is love wrong?) Alden released this song way back when not even Dubsmash existed. And fans are rediscovering it now that either version gets used in the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist now. With Alden getting signed up with GMA Records, surely more songs would follow the likes of “Haplos” The kind that would have space in an updated version of the ALDUB KalyeSerye Playlist.

ALDUB Fifth Weeksary: ALDUB Keep The Faith

Today is the ALDUB Fifth Weeksary. Everyone is still having the hangover from this noontime addiction. Everyone is tuned in to Eat Bulaga’s KalyeSerye. The ALDUB KalyeSerye dubbed as #KiligPaMore is perhaps the most successful spin-off of their hit segment Juan For All All For Juan (Bayanihan of the People). What started out as simply a sideshow for Wally Bayola’s new alter-ego, Lola Nidora, ended up creating a new love team. YayaDUB and Alden Richards.

ALDUB Fifth Weeksary
Source: @MaineAlden16

Seriously who would have expected  a love team breaking the internet? En route to the ALDUB Fifth Weeksary, the collective bag of giddiness in Alden Richards and YayaDUB have been exploding the internet. Twitter in particular. And it’s simply not a series of retweets, favorites and copy RT’s. People are really talking about it. It makes non-Filipinos unaware of the proverbial storm that the ALDUB euphoria has caused. And some fans are pretty blunt in admitting that they enjoy seeing Twitter explode.

Filipino Dubsmash Queen Maine Mendoza herself is overwhelmed at the reception that came with being paired with Alden Richards. That one time that she smiled at the thought of Alden made the audience think that YayaDUB may not be as snobbish as she was initially presented. YayaDUB and Lola Nidora may be characters largely out of improv theater. But these two characters know how to assume their roles well. Surely, Wally once in awhile ends up suppressing his laughter to keep his character Lola Nidora consisted to the upper-class image projected. But when YayaDUB forget to be snobbish at the sight of Alden Richards? A new love team is born. The ALDUB Fifth Weeksary has commenced as of this writing.

Soon enough, there are more and more people viewing Eat Bulaga. Some have been watching to see what comments would Lola Nidora and YayaDUB would provide to the EB Problem Solving segment. But at the same time, they would also watch YayaDUB smile at the sight of Alden. Here is a girl who knows how to smile and get giddy after all. That is despite a watchful eye under her employer, Lola Nidora. Lola Nidora may be more of an employer to her. She might have been the closest thing that YayaDUB has to a mother/grandmother figure. She doesn’t call her Senora after all. She calls her “Lola” (Grandmother). Long before the ALDUB Fifth Weeksary came along, the Eat Bulaga crew has been viewing how can they keep “ALDUB” interesting.

ALDUB Fifth Weeksary

Noontime programming is already competitive on itself. Rival program Showtime would often take pride in trending worldwide. Then the ALDUB tandem came along by accident. By accident? Yes, it’s by accident. Not that Eat Bulaga is regretting that from happening now. Putting up a variety show can be hard too. The creative process is like having the materials and facing  the adhesive board. You throw whatever idea or material you have on the board and see what sticks. That’s how the brainstorming process works. Had Eat Bulaga ignored YayaDUB’s smile at the sight of Alden, they could have missed a landmine. No ALDUB Fifth Weeksary either.

Much of Eat Bulaga’s success has been dependent on comic timing implied on improvisation. Which is why improv theater is constantly mentioned in the several times that this website has discussed ALDUB. It’s about throwing lines and expect the other person to know what to say in reply that is just as funny. Wally first tasted success as the other half of the comic tandem Jose and Wally. Even when they sported their alter-egos, Lolo and Lola (not Nidora, someone older though). Much of the dialogue consisted of adlibs. Now that Wally is allowed to create his own characters outside the Jose and Wally tandem, he hit it big.

And this also shows in the ALDUB FIfth Weeksary that the ALDUB euphoria has crossed the line to drama. It was totally unexpected for some viewers. For a KalyeSerye that the world has tuned into, they did not expect to cry along with the characters they fell in love with. Yes, that includes Lola Nidora. Wally is an underrated actor with the capacity to deliver believable emotions. He does not pretend to feel something. If you have watched the ALDUB KalyeSerye long enough, you know how the adlibs included some complaints. Like how Lola Nidora’s voice never got well. Or how for much of the series, she’s been screaming in frustration. And then, on August 21, 2015, the ALDUB FIfth Weeksary, the world shed tears along with Lola Nidora and Alden.

ALDUB Fifth Weeksary
Source: @Shawn_17

It took a life-threatening illness for Lola Nidora to admit that Alden was nice after all. That he’s polite and a genuinely good person. But everything happens for a reason. And maybe, as much as she wanted to let YayaDUB be happy with Alden, “Lahat ng bagay may dahilan.” (Everything happens for a reason). There are still secrets she refused to divulge. And she might die not finding the diary ever again. YayaDUB’s future can also be thrown in as her way of securing her future even after Lola Nidora (as a character dies).

Of course, including Alden Richards into the accidental series a.k.a. KalyeSerye meant moments of heart-breaking drama too. While this KalyeSerye may be a parody of your conventional primetime teleserye. the legit heartbreak that comes with seeing your one true love married off to someone else is a nerve that struck the hopeless romantics in Filipinos. The Filipinos’ tender heart is still a tough demographic to satisfy until you make them believe that Alden and YayaDUB would last longer after the ALDUB Fifth Weeksary. Filipinos, not just teeny boppers, want to see this couple be happy. It aroused the hopeless romantic in everyone. It is the kind of love story that every Wattpad writer would love to publish.

Also, most women would feel like hugging and comforting someone as hot and manly as Alden Richards when in tears. Men who are in touch with their soft side meant an ability to show emotions. That admission that he needed love and affection too. The kind of man who is motivated to endure any challenge that Lola Nidora would throw his way. As long as he gets to finally meet YayaDUB. And for a man who never saw his lady love in person and cry at the thought of her upcoming wedding to someone else? Every nurturing bone in viewers start sticking out. Everyone has officially found an underdog to root for. ALDUB should go beyond the ALDUB Fifth Weeksary. And everyone would love to see Alden succeed.

ALDUB is for Real: The Isaw Party

#ALDUBisforReal The ALDUB is for Real Episode is shot on location at Bataan. A clear sign that no matter how far the location the Juan for All All for Juan segment could reach. There is no stopping the ALDUB euphoria. Also it took almost 24 hours and a really remote location for the Lola Nidora to regain her strength to continue with her verbal last will and testament.

ALDUB is for Real
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Lola Nidora arrived with her entourage including the paramedic and the funeral homes’ representative. The ALDUB is for Real Episode highlighted the weak health that Lola Nidora had fallen into. As Duh mentioned in the ALDUB Not ALDUH Episode. The best she could do to breathe is 1.5 times a day. Once in the morning and the half breath during snack time.  Lola Nidora could barely talk. She had to whisper her messages to YayaDUB for YayaDUB to interpret. YayaDUB would relay the messages in DUBSmash speak for resident dabarkads Paolo Ballesteros to interpret. The interpretations would often leave the hosts at Broadway Centrum half-amazed and half-amused.

After getting everyone bonkers about the interpretations. The riding in tandem arrived anew. They delivered 2 boxes to YayaDUB. The person carrying them personally handed over the boxes to YayaDUB. YayaDUB happily opened one and saw the sticks of isaw (grilled chicken intestines). They were the sticks of isaw that Alden promised to her on the ALDUB not ALDUH episode. The isaw party commenced on the ALDUB is for Real Episode. YayaDUB proudly showed the green box’s contents on camera.

ALDUB is for Real

Out of nowhere in this ALDUB is for Real Episode, Lola Nidora stood up and chased the riding in tandem before the guy could reignite the engine. Lola Nidora found the energy to talk and run to them. She even grabbed the driver but too weak to push him out of the motorcycle. She even tried to pressure him with the dextrose bottle as if it’s some deadly weapon. She mentioned the diary again. It is not clear what do these men have to do with the diary. They are more of Alden’s delivery men. The closest access Alden has to YayaDUB. Alden is barred from seeing YayaDUB in person. But his gifts managed to reach her through the riding in tandem. So it’s still everyone’s guess. What do these men have to do with Lola Nidora’s diary? Could one of them be the blackmailer that called Lola Nidora before? (Looking back, Alden could use that to his advantage. But let’s leave that angle to the writers)

The Rogelios and the paramedic can’t stop Lola Nidora. They can’t let her be strangled with her own oxygen tube either. Or let the dextrose get detached. One of the Rogelios managed to carry Lola Nidora back to her wheelchair before she forgets that she’s sick. Being the ungrateful wrench that she is, she blamed the Rogelios for not catching up to the riding in tandem. She blamed them for having shades. Lola Nidora turned to YayaDUB for her daily dose of “chewy-bles”. Here in the ALDUB is for Real Episode, Lola Nidora occasionally forgets she is sick.

The signal from Bataan seemed choppy at some parts. But it did not stop YayaDUB from getting into isaw party mode. She then started looking for Alden. She loved the isaw. But it would still be different if she saw the man who sent them. Alden then shows up. He’s having isaw himself. Isaw and a couple of goblets of water. Unlike before, YayaDUB is no longer upset at the sight of Alden having lunch in fine dining style. Even if Alden is not staring straight to the camera. Alden is shown as being attentive and sweet to someone allegedly sitting across the table.

YayaDUB enjoyed the sticks of isaw so much in the ALDUB is for Real Episode. She must have forgotten to swallow them. She’s basically stuffing her face with the grilled isaw. (No sauce?) One of the Rogelios even held the box. YayaDUB would go back to it after finishing a stick of isaw. She was all giddy, happy and hyper like a kid discovering gifts on the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. Alden’s camera then shifted across the table. It showed a picture of Lola Nidora sticking out her tongue. Since Alden doesn’t get the opportunity to be nice to Lola Nidora in person. It’s the best thing he could do to invite Lola Nidora over for the isaw party. Just when YayaDUB’s face is about to change expressions. It went from startled to happy again. She approached Lola Nidora to show the kind of sweetness Alden is showing her picture.

ALDUB is for Real
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Lola Nidora could not suppress her smile here in the ALDUB is for Real episode. Alden then showed a sign saying “Pagaling po kayo, Lola!” (Get well, Lola!) Lola Nidora found the gestures nice. She said “Maganda ginagawa nyo. Lalo nyo kong pinapatay.” (You’re doing it nice. You kill me even more.) Sick and close to death (maybe). Lola Nidora still interpreted Alden’s efforts negatively. She then clutched to one of the Rogelios to support the way she stood. Then she chastised Alden for the affections that came too late. Alden came too late. Too late that it can never change her health anymore. It was not the reaction that YayaDUB was expecting. Alden acknowledged his mistake and simply replied “Sorry po! ALDUB You!” (I’m sorry. ALDUB You) Lola Nidora is unfazed. She signaled the Rogelios to catch her as she felt like passing out.

As the Rogelios and the paramedic assisted Lola Nidora back on her wheelchair. Alden shifted back to YayaDUB. “Masarap ba isaw, Yaya?” (Does the isaw taste good, Yaya?) YayaDUB replied with “Super”. Alden said “Wag pagutom ha?” (Don’t let yourself go hungry). Vic Sotto commented how could YayaDUB go hungry when she already had 4 sticks of grilled isaw. Alden then posted “MAINEnamahal kita!” (Rephrased: I love you). The ALDUB is for Real episode showed how the word ALDUB has been infused into how Alden and YayaDUB expressed their love for each other.

Lola Nidora’s condition continued to worsen. It prompted YayaDUB back to reality. She picked up the Lola Nidora’s phone to immediately call the doctor. His name was shown on the ALDUB not ALDUH episode as Dr. Tan-Ning. A car horn was then heard. That’s when the audience saw Dr. Tan-Ning (A character that was not an alter ego of neither Wally Bayola nor Jose Manalo) He immediately approached Lola Nidora to check her pulse. (It was the first time perhaps that a character was introduced without any “quick change” on either part of Wally or Jose. Could it only be on the ALDUB is for Real episode?)

ALDUB is for Real
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Dr. Tan-Ning wasted no time in his diagnosis. Lola Nidora’s shelf life is only up until August 22, 2015 at 2:30 pm. Lola Nidora does not appreciate cutting to the chase. (Maybe because there was lack of acting talent on the part of Dr. Tan-Ning. Sorry.) Dr. Tan-Ning then immediately handed over the prescription drugs to YayaDUB. Emphasis on “handed”. And Dr Tan-Ning is a little touchy too. Something that Alden does not appreciate. Another third party? Viewers of the ALDUB is for Real episode would like to think not.

Alden sensed competition. It made him feel uneasy especially the parts where the doctor’s hand held YayaDUB’s hand. The camera even focused on it. YayaDUB is visibly giddy. Alden could only react from where he is. Do doctors really have to be this touchy? He is touching YayaDUB more than Lola Nidora. (Paolo is trying some moves on Dr. Tan-Ning too) He wasn’t so upset. But he was quick to get a doctor’s coat and snap YayaDUB’s attention back to him. YayaDUB then remembered that Alden is only right at the studio watching her. Alden went as far as getting a stethoscope to play doctor for YayaDUB. The ALDUB is for Real episode showed the lengths that Alden is willing to go through. He wanted to keep YayaDUB happy. And she is very happy.

ALDUB is for Real
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook page

Before Dr. Tan-Ning becomes another third party here in the ALDUB is for Real episode. Frankie arrives. He does not appreciate Dr. Tan-Ning’s touchy-feely kind of getting his job done. Unlike Alden though. Frankie was there to give Dr. Tan-Ning the proverbial slap on the wrist. In the middle of Alden and Frankie getting upset at how extra affectionate Dr. Tan-Ning is towards YayaDUB here in the ALDUB is for Real episode. Lola Nidora tried to speak.

Lola Nidora wanted the #YaKie wedding to push through before she dies. She assured YayaDUB that it will push through. She will wear a wedding gown that is not too tight. She will be fed well. She would even let the makeup artists use concealer on Frankie on the wedding day itself. Anything that would keep from YayaDUB from collapsing again.

ALDUB is for Real
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Frankie was half-hurt, half-happy that the wedding will finally push through. Frankie was hurt because he is really not fond of concealers. Alden was hurt all over again. Lola Nidora even made YayaDUB to promise using the pabebe pinky swear. YayaDUB managed to respond to Lola Nidora’s pinky swear. She’s conflicted with her loyalty to Lola Nidora and her love to Alden. YayaDUB tries to run away. As YayaDUB tried to runaway from all of this conflict, Frankie stops her. And the ALDUB is for Real episode goes into cliffhanger mode.

Would the #YaKie wedding push through? Will Lola Nidora take her secrets to the grave? Will she live long enough to see her nanny, YayaDUB, finally married to her family friend, Frankie Arenolli? ALDUB Not ALDUH: Antics Go Duh

#ALDUBNotALDUH The ALDUB not ALDUH episode opens with Duh. She makes a scene early in this episode by being carried around by the Rogelio’s. Like it’s some production number that needed to match her entrance theme. Fifth Harmony’s “I’m Worth It”. And apparently, she has a change of heart when it comes to Frankie. Or does she?

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Duh thinks of herself as someone too irresistible to ignore. She doesn’t get why someone of Frankie’s status would go for a nanny like YayaDUB. A NANNY?!?!?!?! Someone beneath Frankie’s status. And someone whom Duh doesn’t consider in the same level as her. She made some efforts to seduce Frankie. But to no avail. Frankie apparently saw Duh as the trailer park trash material that she is. So, in this ALDUB Not ALDUH episode. Duh just went back to bullying YayaDUB.

She called YayaDUB since she carried her “StarBox” drink. STARBOX! And Duh got upset. Not because the tumbler says “STARBOX” but because it contained “kapeng barato”. Perhaps from the word “barat” which means cheapskate. YayaDUB went into arranging stuff that Duh would dare not touch. Frankie immediately went to her in an effort to help. YayaDUB felt dizzy again. Frankie tried to distance himself out of fear that YayaDUB would collapse in this ALDUB Not ALDUH episode.

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

As Duh went on nagging her, YayaDUB just looked at her. Looked, not stared. This is still Lola Nidora’s granddaughter so while glaring at her on the ALDUB You Lola episode happened. She tried not doing it again. As much as YayaDUB had her snobbish and snappy tendencies. She knows how to restrain herself. Frankie chastised Duh for going too far. The ALDUB Not ALDUH episode might have served as an opportunity to present Frankie as someone genuinely concerned with YayaDUB.

YayaDUB earned some confidence with Frankie taking her side. She felt bad at the unfair treatment Duh gave her. As much as Lola Nidora is strict and old school, she’s appreciative of YayaDUB’s diligence. There may be instances where she comes up short. Like those episodes where the medicine box contained stray buttons. But Lola Nidora wasn’t hard on YayaDUB. She was hard on Alden. This served as the contrast to Duh’s treatment of YayaDUB presented in the ALDUB Not ALDUH episode. While Lola Nidora blamed Alden for everything that went wrong in her life. Duh blamed YayaDUB. Of course, it comes with having an agenda as far as Alden is concerned.

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Duh believes that she can seduce Alden away from YayaDUB. She even exhibited her skills in pole dancing. Which is … not much. YayaDUB was just staring at Duh as she made a fool out of herself. The hosts left at Broadway Centrum were just laughing their hearts out at this travesty happening right before their eyes. It’s the funny kind of BS that YayaDUB (and in some part, the audience) had to endure while waiting for Alden. Will Alden show up in this ALDUB Not ALDUH episode?

Of course he will. Alden was shown leaning to the wall as if covering something. Then he gave way to a whiteboard with the words “Alden Heart Maine”. ha was giddy all over again. Later he asked YayaDUB through a sign “Kumain ka na ba?” (Have you eaten?). The ALDUB Not ALDUH episode showed Alden’s proactive efforts at a conversation. They may be limited to signboards and Dubsmash for now. But he really makes the most of the little time that he gets to talk to YayaDUB.

Later, Alden asked “Miss mo ba ako?” (Do you miss me?) YayaDUB replied with another question “Ikaw? Miss mo ko?” (You? You miss me?). Alden replied with “Miss na miss” (Miss you so much). YayaDUB was forthright in admitting her giddyness by replying “Kilig ako! Hihihi!” (I feel giddy! Hihihi!) Alden then posted “Ingat lagi!” (Be safe always!) with a smiley. YayaDUB replied with “Para sa yo magiingat ako lalo” (For you I will be careful even more).

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

The giddyness shown in the ALDUB Not ALDUH episode was interrupted. Duh! Duh saw the sign and declared that Alden loved her all along. Duh claimed that her full name was Duhrizz Maine. It prompted Alden to change “Maine” to YayaDUB. Alden even added extra ink on the D in YayaDUB. He will not let Duh ruin the feel-good moments he tried to maximize with YayaDUB. And Alden is grossed out with Duh. Some women could be admired for the confidence they possess in thinking they’re a lot beautiful than they actually are. But in the case of Duh, nu-uh.

Duh threatened to tell Lola Nidora everything. It really showed the level of intelligence that Duh has which is not much. She walked out after failing to seduce Alden and Frankie. And after failing to corner YayaDUB. Frankie offered to help YayaDUB. But he has difficulty getting close to YayaDUB. She gets dizzy at having him too close to her. Frankie still wanted to marry her. But she could only offer him friendship. With Duh nowhere to be found in this ALDUB Not ALDUH episode. YayaDUB was left for Alden to talk to freely.

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

The sweetness continued in the ALDUB Not ALDUH episode. More because Duh has become less of a threat. What else is left for her to make “sumbong” to Lola Nidora when everyone else in the world including their dogs already knew of the ALDUB relationship? Which begs the question – what happened to “Countdown to Tamang Panahon”? Was it just a desperate monkey wrench that Lola Nidora threw in?

Alden then asked YayaDUB “Anong favorite food mo?” (What’s your favorite food?) YayaDUB replied “Isaw ng manok” (Chicken intestines). Alden said “Dala ako bukas?” (I’d bring some tomorrow?) YayaDUB replied “Sige. Date tayo soon” (Okay. Let’s have a date soon). Alden asked “Bakit soon? Pwede ba ngayon na?” (Why soon? Can it be now?) Frankie couldn’t take it anymore and posted his own sign saying “Pakasalan mo ko” (Marry me) Frankie added “Paparetoke ko muka ko” (I would have cosmetic surgery) YayaDUB just replied “Yuck”. Frankie doing the “pabebe wave” doesn’t help. In the ALDUB Not ALDUH episode, Frankie was less annoying compared to Duh. The exchange of signboards was interrupted by the sound of a car horn.

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

It turns out to be Lola Nidora herself. A man in a faded Barong Tagalog pushed her wheelchair. She has the oxygen tube right up her nose.  The hosts at the Broadway Centrum were amused at how quick it was for Lola Nidora to return. And it was only minutes ago when Duh threatened to make “sumbong” to Lola Nidora. Alden almost broke character and found the transition funny.  Consistent to the nice facade that the ALDUB Not ALDUH episode make Frankie to look like. Frankie immediately greeted her. YayaDUB was quick to fan her with their abaniko. One Rogelio carried the dextrose while standing beside Lola Nidora’s paramedic.

Lola Nidora then reminded YayaDUB of the letter she sent the latter. She gave Frankie the permission to read it. This time though, the letter was clear enough to be shown to the audience. As opposed to the letter that YayaDUB read in the ALDUB You Lola episode but did not show to the public. Frankie read it himself this time in the ALDUB Not ALDUH episode. He then showed it to the camera bearing the words “Lola Nidora is really , really sick. She is dying”. Signed, Dr. Tan-Ning, MD.

ALDUB not ALDUH
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

YayaDUB was inconsolable beside her. She was on the verge of breaking down herself. Lola Nidora then struggled to give her final wishes. Frankie tried to convince her that she will live longer. YayaDUB swore that she will never leave her side. As Lola Nidora tried to speak further, she passes out. Fade out to Frankie screaming “Lola!”

And the plot thickens. Perhaps thicker than Frankie’s skin. What lies ahead of the ALDUB KalyeSerye now that Lola Nidora has her final trump card? The best way to find out is by tuning in to Eat Bulaga, Monday to Saturday during noontime. ALDUB Monthsary: Alden’s First Challenge

#AlDub1stMonthsary On the first ALDUB monthsary, YayaDUB was barraged with the Attack of the Alden Clones. If you have gone this far in the first ever KalyeSerye. You know how subtlety is not the hit KalyeSerye’s forte. Also the staunchest AlDub fans have been itching for Alden Richards and YayaDUB to finally meet. If only Lola Nidora is not that much of an annoying roadblock.

ALDUB Monthsary
Source: Eat Bulaga’s Facebook Page

From Lola Nidora making her fingers look like a devil’s horns to remind the audience that she’s the villain. To Frankie’s clothes that scream BRANDED. Even Frankie’s father Don Franing’s polo barong has the stamp Gucci all over the place. And now, all that YayaDUB could think of is Alden. She basically sees him all over the place. Especially at that time since it’s the first ALDUB monthsary.

That segment with the Alden clones seemed like some random segment thrown in just to excite the ALDUB nation. But it worked. It made the audience guess if Alden can manage to find a loophole in the security to be where YayaDUB is. But nobody’s complaining. A swarm of men in Alden masks would help keep the hope alive in YayaDUB’s consciousness. But why the need for masks? Why not the real deal on the ALDUB monthsary?

ALDUB Monthsary
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Each of the Alden clones then approached YayaDUB with a stem of red rose. Celebrating the ALDUB monthsary meant reliving the first time Alden sent a bouquet of flowers to YayaDUB. On the other hand, YayaDUB’s skepticism took over. As much as she loved Alden with all of her heart. She still needs to see his face. So for every man that gave her a flower, she took off his mask. They were several of them. The audience almost thought that it consisted of the finalists of Eat Bulaga’s That’s My Bae taking their spotlight while Alden was away. But no. Each man unmasked and no Alden Richards in the flesh.

The disappointment was evident in YayaDUB’s very expressive face. Lola Nidora could heave a sigh of relief. For now. Just when YayaDUB and Lola Nidora thought the Alden clones are gone. One left behind went straight to Lola Nidora herself. He gave her a bouquet of flowers with red roses in them. It made Lola Nidora temporarily forget the ALDUB monthsary. She even stuck out her tongue as if she’s back in “pabebe girl” mode.

ALDUB Monthsary
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

From a brightly lit empty room, Alden emerges from the corner and does his own “pabebe wave”. YayaDUB was so happy that Alden appeared on the ALDUB monthsary. He has a red rose too. When the ALDUB fans viewed this tandem as magical, magical things did happen. Alden tried to hand over the red rose that he held to YayaDUB. And it reached YayaDUB. It felt like everything else in the world was right again. The “pabebe pinky swear” got everyone’s heart racing all over again in giddyness.

While Alden and YayaDUB were smooching the monitors, Lola Nidora pushed YayaDUB aside. Alden almost kissed her if not for him getting immediately aware of it. This was where Lola Nidora admitted how tired she has gotten of this ALDUB euphoria. She was screaming for several episodes now. That her voice almost never normalized and stayed hoarse. Frankie also managed to sneak himself in the same room where Alden’s monitor is. In this vein, Lola Nidora brought out again the box. The box was first shown a day before the ALDUB monthsary.

ALDUB Monthsary
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

The box contained a key that Lola Nidora handed over to Frankie through the camera. (Much laughter arose from the unbelievability; then again it’s a KalyeSerye that basically parodied conventional teleseryes) Frankie then handed over the key to Alden as they await Lola Nidora’s instructions. Now that it’s the ALDUB monthsary, Alden will earn another shot at meeting YayaDUB for real. And he expressed his resilience in meeting YayaDUB in person. Alden made the “Laban” hand signs. YayaDUB then scribbled on her paper “Laban” (Fight). This is when Lola Nidora eventually revealed the spot where the key will be useful.

There was a chest on one side of the room where Alden can use the key. Turns out that it contained a bundle of wood. This is in direct reference to the days when Lola Nidora’s suitors chopped wood as part of their servitude to her family. Lola Nidora then told Alden that if he managed to take the bundle of wood from the Eat Bulaga studio to EDSA in less than 20 minutes. Then he scores one point in Lola Nidora’s scoreboard. Alden agrees. He raised his signboard saying “For you I will”. YayaDUB replies with her own signboard saying “Kaya mo yan” (You can do it). The ALDUB monthsary episode just got exciting.

ALDUB Monthsary
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Lola Nidora then reveals her scoreboard. She called it “Countdown to Tamang Panahon”. Finally, the audience can define what “tamang panahon” (right time) is. It does not say how many days will it cover. But Lola Nidora mentioned that for every challenged that Alden accomplished will be jotted down on the scoreboard. The ALDUB monthsary may have something to do with Lola Nidora’s decision to put up a scoreboard. ALDUB lasted for a month despite never meeting in person. This is in contrast to how Frankie tried his best to be close to YayaDUB when he is just within breathing distance.

Alden then prepared and waited for Lola Nidora’s signal. The timer was set. Alden managed to warm up in the ALDUB monthsary episode. And Lola Nidora said go. As Alden ran from the studio out of the building, the timer was shown on the top middle part of the screen.

ALDUB Monthsary
Source: Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Alden had back-up to as he ran from Broadway Centrum (home of Eat Bulaga) to EDSA. Netizens then spotted Alden from Betty Go Belmonte to Cubao all the way to the designated spot where Alden may stop. Apparently, one of the Rogelio 5 was already waiting in the EDSA spot where Alden should stop. With about 3 minutes left on the clock, Alden made it to his destination. YayaDUB was shown deliriously happy while holding the sign “Kayanin mo para sa ating dalawa” (Endure it for the two of us). Of course, Alden endured. It’s a welcome feather to the cap of the much-celebrated ALDUB monthsary.

YayaDUB was very happy. Frankie, in the bosom of 2 alluring assistants, watched in disappointment as Lola Nidora wrote on the scoreboard. The scoreboard is more like a coffee table book. Lola Nidora wrote the task and the score under the accomplished task. 1 point. YayaDUB then wrote on her paper “Naka-1 point ka na! Pati sa puso ko!” (You already got 1 point! Even in my heart!” Lola Nidora is still conflicted about this. And she tried to take away YayaDUB’s sign. The people around Alden were just as happy. Only the one Rogelio managed to keep a stoic face.

ALDUB Monthsary

The #AlDubMaybeThisTime Episode: So Close Yet

It seems as if everything went to a screeching halt in The #AlDubMaybeThisTime Episode. There was less than usual traffic on the streets. Everyone’s plugged on their accounts online. The internet even slowed down with all that activity going on Facebook, Twitter and, of course, Instagram. Instagram is where YayaDUB first established her reign as the Queen of Dubsmash. And her territory has extended over to Eat Bulaga. Yet, she was so close to finally meeting Alden Richards.

And everyone is upset! Congratulations, Eat Bulaga! You have created the new villain to reckon with – Lola Nidora. And her underhanded tactics to keep AlDub a reality are as stinky as her name. The #AlDubMaybeThisTime Episode could have been the one event. It could have broken the internet. Here’s the thing. AlDub has yet to meet in person. But they already broke the internet.

The hashtag #HopiaPaMore almost trended. If not for the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode’s main hasthag #AlDubMaybeThisTime.  As of 2:38pm Philippine time, it was trending worldwide at 728K tweets. It was a long stretch from the next trending topic. You can easily imagine teens and yuppies complaining about the internet freezing or slowing down. This much anticipation and … and … another “could have been”.

Could the wanting indeed be better than the having? What really happened in the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode? Everyone can see the euphoria dying down much much later. From boiling point to a simmer, that is.  Most fans would need to go to the washroom and wipe off some tears. Some were just “Ugh! I’ve been had!” The running joke is that some high school and college students really skipped class. They wanted to witness this “salubong”. We can’t call it a reunion. They’ve never met. And the commentary provided by Lola Nidora is a nice topic to discuss in another article.

In case you have been living under a rock, Maine Mendoza a.k.a. YayaDUB was already discussed here. She was mentioned in our Top 10 Philippine Hot Women. She was also referred to as the Filipino Dubsmash Queen in this article. She and her better half of the AlDub tandem, Alden Richards, have been hogging the trending topics worldwide for several days now. For someone who started out in Dubsmash just for kicks, she has gone a long way, baby. The psychedelia that raptured online was evident in the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode.

The major social media accounts are abuzz. The techies and nerds are secretly wishing that even Meerkat and Periscope managed to record some snippets of the meeting that never was. Those who missed the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode were secretly thankful that no meeting occurred yet. Because they want to be there LIVE! Even some fans of Eat Bulaga’s rival noontime program Showtime would switch channels the moment it’s KiligSerye time. As resident “dabarkads” Joey de Leon himself said, to rephrase, it’s like Pacquiao all over again.

The unpredictability in the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode is paradoxically expected. If there is one soap opera that survived without a script, the AlDub soap would be it. Improv acting is one of the keys behind the survival of Eat Bulaga as a noontime program. But that also meant putting in a cast of characters that would know what to do. They should know how to get a story going based not on a script but a story format. And even if Wally Bayola would occasionally switch between staying in character and breaking character, he did not let his “mali-mali” tendencies forget his role. Because every riveting soap opera needs a villain, no matter how stereotypical. The delaying tactics should have served as a hint to fans. But NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody’s brains are conflicted in the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode. They know that they MIGHT not meet because it’s Wednesday. But they wanted the couple badly to meet NOW. They can’t wait for Saturday anymore! And most special episodes occur on a Saturday. When did you see a couple not meet and get everyone else to root for them to meet finally? Everyone is in the moment and then YayaDUB ran away to avoid some curse.

Who wrote this? This is way better than most soaps today. Then again, the magic of AlDub as presented here in the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode is in the anticipation. Hopeless romantics would often preach that the wanting is sweeter than the having. Emotional wrecks often have to live with that reality. And for a story that captured the world (not just the nation), the anticipation is just too much. Some fans might end up looking for some valium now to calm themselves the soonest.

So when would ALDUB finally meet. The #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode left everyone hanging. There are more questions left for everyone to ponder. Send your queries to the Eat Bulaga Facebook Page. Don’t forget to click “Like” in case you haven’t. There would be a world awaiting for that “tamang panahon” (right time).

As shown in the #AlDubMaybeThisTime episode, ALDUB is the ultimate couple of the hour. One article is not enough to discuss them for sure. YayaDUB is Back: Days After Passing Out

#YayaDUB is back. One half of the phenomenal love team #ALDUB is back. Everyone got so worried with her after the lines between reel and real were blurred last Saturday, August 8, 2015. With so many fans shipping to the #ALDUB wagon, the hit #KalyeSerye has shown no signs of stopping. Now that YayaDUB is back. Everyone awaits the fate of noontime program’s most unique segment ever.

The KalyeSerye opens with Lola Nidora reduced to riding a motorcycle. She would usually arrive by a van or some luxury vehicle in the past. But the cancelled YaKie wedding really exposed how low she had gotten. She can’t even provide Rogelio 5 (minus 1) each of their own motorbikes. She then had a little chat with fellow dabarkads (jargon for Eat Bulaga host), Paolo Ballesteros. They discussed the acid attack that occurred last Monday, August 10, 2015.

And YayaDUB is back just in time for the conversation to switch to her. She arrived to the tune of Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby. Now that YayaDUB is back. Lola Nidora asks her, “Good to see you’re in good condition now. Okay ka na ba?” (Are you okay now?) YayaDUB replies in a way she knew best. Through beat box dubsmash. Lola Nidora is one of the few people that can interpret her. Lola said “Okay na daw siya, wag lang daw siyang malalapit sa mga pangit” (She said she’s okay as long as she stays away from anyone ugly).

“Oh lumayo ka kay Lola,” chides Paolo to YayaDUB. YayaDUB is back and Lola Nidora missed YayaDUB’s pabebe wave. And the pabebe girls’ Dubsmash segment where Lola Nidora would stick out her tongue because she has problems (?) following the dubbing procedure. YayaDUB is back and only too happy to oblige. She immediate switches to pabebe girl mode and blurt out. “Hi! Kami ang pabebe girls. At wala kayong paki kung pabebe kami sa mga video namin!” (Hi! We are the pabebe girls. And it’s none of your business if we are “pabebe” on our videos!) Lola Nidora dubs her part and goes “At wala kayong karapatan dahil nanonood lang kayo!” (And you have no right because you’re just watching!)

YayaDUB is back including the appropriate facial expressions for the rest of the pabebe girls part. “Buhay namin ito! Walang makakapigil sa ‘min!” (This is our life! Nothing can stop us!) Those quote could also serve as an analogy to the trials and tribulations that the ALDUB couple has gone through. Can anybody or anyone really stop this couple? How can you stop a couple from finally meeting in the flesh?

YayaDUB then wrote a sign that says “Wer na u? Dito na me”. (Where are you? I’m here) Now that YayaDUB is back, Lola Nidora found it appropriate to inform her of what happened to Alden. Lola Nidora told YayaDUB that the wedding should push through. And Frankie splashed acid on Alden’s face so that he would end up looking uglier (?) than Frankie. Lola Nidora told YayaDUB that Alden now lives with a pock-marked face. YayaDUB is devastated.

The song “God Gave Me You” plays in the background to the excitement of the audience. Camera then shifts to someone identified as Alden. Maybe because the music showed a man with his back turned to the camera.

YayaDUB is back and too happy to contain herself, whatever Alden may have looked like after the acid attack. Lola Nidora tried to persuade her from looking at Alden’s face. She was expecting his face to be destroyed. To be at least looking worse than Frankie who occasionally shifts to Chuckie doll mode of the film “Child’s Play”. But nothing could persuade YayaDUB from looking away. She wasn’t around during the acid attack. She (and the rest of the nation perhaps) awaited this man to turn around to confirm his identity.

Lo and behold! It turned out that he’s A-okay. Still looking fresh like morning dew and more attractive than ever. Even high definition television can display how Alden managed to keep his face intact. YayaDUB is back and so is her expressive face. You can only imagine the several animated images that a face like YayaDUB can generate.

Lola Nidora on the other hand was dumbfounded. As happy as she is that YayaDUB is back. She is disappointed to discovered that her plans were foiled. They then checked the little container that allegedly contained the acid intended to destroy Alden’s flawless face.

It was Brand X. And it is common knowledge in endless barrage of commercials how Brand X often fails to do the job. (Then again, don’t expect branded acid to be used even just for a mention) Paolo was holding the little bottle with a X mark clearly written. It was just some post-it type of covering where X hits the spot. They peeled away the X-marked sticker to see what got splashed on Alden’s face. The sign revealed says “pangmumog”. Instead of acid, it was mouthwash that got splashed. Lola Nidora blamed her Rogelio goons. They got the wrong bottle because they were wearing shades. Alden on the other hand, is only too happy that YayaDUB is back.

This shifts to an exchange of Dubsmash clips and signboards. YayaDUB is back. Alden immediately wrote “Good luck bukas ah!” on the bond paper he held at that time. The cute exchange made everyone feel good about ALDUB all over again.

Of course, Lola Nidora made sure to rain on the ALDUB parade. The anticipation for the ALDUB “eyeball” is at fever pitch. Everyone is now speculating on what that diary really meant to Lola Nidora. She’s willing to throw YayaDUB under the bus (figuratively) just so she can keep it. Allegedly it’s the one thing that keeps her jittery. For a price of fifty one million five hundred (Lola Nidora’s words).

She is willing to let Alden have YayaDUB though. For a price of fifty one million five hundred (Lola Nidora’s words). So many have joined the ALDUB bandwagon that some just don’t get why Lola Nidora won’t let the couple be. So let this serve as a short orientation. Since Alden could not provide that amount, it caused her to have YayaDUB arranged in marriage with Frankie. Because after Frankie marries, he would get his inheritance. And he can provide the bridal dowry that Lola Nidora demanded.
