The ALDUB One Step Closer episode had an interesting opening. They had a roll call of teams and Twitter accounts that helped out in organizing the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. It made everyone that participated in this global phenomenon special. It was the best fan service ever done by a Filipino variety show. It was apart from the updated count regarding chairs assembled from the collected plastic bottles donated.
And since it’s only a few days away from November 1. Donya Tidora imposed it upon herself to spearhead a cleanup in the barangay. Donya Tinidora is not around. So Donya Tidora ended up in charge of the Cuando Cuando Cuando. But she made sure to call on Donya Tinidora for good measure. “Hoy! Tinidora! Magparamdam ka!” (Tinidora! Make your presence felt!) The Cuando Cuando Cuando entered the ALDUB One Step Closer episode to the tune of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. She also asked them if ever they found the house that Lola Nidora was looking for.
Donya Tidora had a ready answer if they have visited their loved ones at the cemetery. “Siempre dinadalaw namin. Kasi pag di namin dinalaw, kami naman ang dadalawin.” (Of course we visit them. If we didn’t visit them, they’d visit us.) Donya Tidora facilitated the Mr Cuando Cuando Cuando pseudo-contest in Donya Tinidora’s absence. [Pseudo-contest because there aren’t any clear episode winners. No clear prizes either like what was seen in the ALDUB One Step Closer episode.]
Soon, it became obvious that it’s a parody of Eat Bulaga’s hit segment Mr. Pogi. One claimed to be a look-alike of Dingdong Dantes. Another claimed to be a look-alike of Bossing Vic Sotto. Another claimed to be a look-alike of “Mark Rehas”. [In case you don’t get the “Mark Rehas” mishap, hehehehe.] The KalyeSerye commentators asked that “Mark Rehas” finish his spiel at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. His lice flies all the way to Broadway Centrum. Causing discomfort to 2 of the founding fathers of Eat Bulaga. Senator Tito Sotto and Boss Joey de Leon.
Lola Nidora and YayaDUB arrived to the tune of The Cranberries’ “Zombie”. Donya Tidora found it amusing. “Ba’t bago ang DUBsmash nyo?” (How come you have a new DUBsmash track?) Lola Nidora ust thought of it as a seasonal thing. “Dapat kami rin huma-Halloween.” (We should join the Halloween spirit.) Halloween has a more profound effect though on YayaDUB. She failed to catch some sleep due to an old woman. That old woman appears in her dreams, scaring her. Whether the scare was deliberate or not. YayaDUB could not say. Alden then appeared on the other monitor of the ALDUB One Step Closer episode to appease YayaDUB.
YayaDUB didn’t have a microphone at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. So she and Alden were back on the clipboard. Alden asked YayaDUB. “Maine? Nagustuhan mo ba yung surprise ko kahapon?” (Maine? Did you like my surprise yesterday?) He was referring to the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode surprise. YayaDUB replied. “Siempre naman. Happy ako.” (Of course. I am happy.) Alden even DUBsmashed Chicago’s “You’re The Inspiration” to YayaDUB. He still referred to her as “Maine”. Boss Joey had to remind the lovebirds to keep the sweetness refined for the meantime. This was at the aftermath of exposure that ALDUB earned in CNN Philippines and on BBC. ALDUB is going global now.
Later, YayaDUB got her own mic. So she found it easier to relate what she dreamed about prior to the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. “May napanaginipan kasi ako. Matandang babae. Mas matanda kay Lola. Tapos tinatawag ako sa bahay.” (I dreamt about it. An old woman. Older than granny. Then she called me from the house.) Lola Nidora did not hide her resentment at seeing YayaDUB talk better at seeing Alden. “Umayos ka! Kanina ka pa eh. Tinatanong ka namin, inarte mo lang. Kay Alden, inamin mo agad?” (Get yourself together! You’ve been acting out since awhile ago. When we were asking you, you just acted it out. With Alden, you immediately admitted it?)
Angry as she was at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. Lola Nidora pulled out an old photo from her diary. She asked YayaDUB again. “Eto ba picture?” (Is this her photo?) YayaDUB said yes. The alleged house’s address was revealed in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. Donya Tidora checked her mobile app Waze if they can locate it based on the given address. [Note: It’s not clear if Waze has sponsored Eat Bulaga. But it seemed safe to mention.] She also tried out Google Maps too just to be sure.
Donya Tidora screamed. “Ay! May nag-like ng picture ko!” (Oh! Somebody liked my pic!) Lola Nidora was at her wits’ end at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. “Kala ko ba naman hinanap na yung destination? Google Maps?” (I thought the destination was already found? Google Maps?) Must have been some interconnected apps found on Donya Tidora’s mobile. Once Donya Tidora has found the driving directions to their granny’s house. Lola Nidora told her to jot them down. “Sulat mo sa papel. Mamaya, bubuksan ko pa yan.” (Write it on paper. I might end up opening that app later.)
Alden then took a chance to talk again to YayaDUB. “Sana multo na lang ako para puede kitang dalawin gabi-gabi.” (I wish that I am a ghost so that I can visit you every night.) YayaDUB was so elated. It affected the way she talked at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. [Soon, Eat Bulaga capitalized on the fact that Maine Mendoza can speak now. She is starting to match the spiel-speaking speed of Paolo Ballesteros. Her hosting skills improved. Not too jolly. Not too monotonous either. Also, her interest in the Sugod Bahay winners seemed genuine. JoWaPao has taught her well.]
After the Sugod-Bahay errand at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. Lola Nidora reopened her diary to check if she has missed anything. It seemed as if it’s an heirloom diary. It has their mother’s diary entries read out loud. In other words, a meaty source of new storylines for the phenomenal KalyeSerye. And they haven’t reached Lola Nidora’s first written diary entry.
And so Lola Nidora narrated their mother’s diary entry. “Mahiwaga ang bahay ni Mama. Bata pa lang ako ramdam ko napapalibutan ito ng kababalaghan. Ito ay mga elemento na nagbabantay sa bahay.” (Mama’s house is mysterious. As a kid I could feel that it is filled with dread. These are the elements guarding the house.) This was when Lola Nidora thought of the tools to bring upon going to that house as early as in the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. “Luma na yung mga bawang-bawang. Magdala tayo ng armalite. Bazooka. Asin.” (Garlic is passe. Let’s bring armalite. Bazooka. Salt.)
Lola Nidora continued. “Sa pagpatak ng ikatatlumpu’t isa ng Octubre dalawang libo’t labing lima. Ito ang panahong nakatakda para hanapin ang unang hakbang tungo sa pag-ibig.” (Upon reaching the 31st of October year two thousand and fifteen. This is the fated time to look for the first step towards love.) The crowd at the Broadway Centrum witnessing the ALDUB One Step Closer episode cheered. Lola Nidora was quick to chastise them. “Ang eksena, horror. Hindi romantic.” (The scene is horror. Not romantic.)
The diary further gave instructions in Lola Nidora’s voice. “Importanteng mahanap nyo ang alahasan sa malaking salamin. Kelangan nyong malampasan ang mga kakila-kilabot na elemento na bumabalot sa bahay.” (It is important that you find the jewelry box by the big mirror. You need to surpass the spine-chilling elements surrounding the house.) Lola Nidora’s difficulty in reading the diary was a little obvious at the ALDUB One Step Closer episode. She had to read it with Donya Tidora and YayaDUB too.
Apparently, the Kalye’s Angels’ mother wrote this diary after that fateful encounter with the French soothsayer. So the antidotes were written too for the viewers of the ALDUB One Step Closer episode to hear. “Makakatulong ang ilang pangontra.” (Some antidotes would work.) Unfortunately, no particular antidotes were read so far. As Lola Nidora struggled to have the items deciphered, the truck horn sounded. Signaling the end of the ALDUB One Step Closer episode.
One thing was clear about the jewelry box. It did not look like the jewelry box prop used by Eat Bulaga for their Sugod Bahay winners. It was antique and facing a big mirror at their granny’ house. YayaDUB’s great-great grandmother whom she also dreamt about. How else can they ensure a safe tour by granny’s house? Tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime. Like Eat Bulaga’s official Facebook page to catch the ALDUB One Step Closer episode replay.

The ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode opens with Donya Tinidora capitalizing on the Cuando Cuando Cuando’s notoriety. Halloween is approaching. So might as well have a pseudo-contest involving her army of zombies. To increase the fear factor that the zombies possess. Donya Tinidora had them masked with Alden’s faces first. Whether she intended this for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary or not, only Donya Tinidora knew.
It kept the KalyeSerye commentators amused for awhile. Donya Tinidora’s organizing skills revealed the party-going skills that she put into good use. Besides, knowing the issues that hounded Lola Nidora at no end. Donya Tinidora had to keep the party going. Or in this case, get the party warmed up for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. Donya Tidora stayed close to help Donya Tinidora present the Cuando Cuando Cuando in a “positive” light. (At least they don’t ask anymore when the respective corpses died.)
Finally, Lola Nidora arrived to the tune of Dawin’s Dessert along with YayaDUB. She went straight to the mic. “Nagulat kayo ano? Akala nyo impostor! Ako ang kapatid nyo!” (You were shocked, weren’t you? You thought it’s some impostor! I am your sister!) Donya Tidora laughed it off. “Akala ko contestant.” (I thought it’s a contestant too.) With YayaDUB now present, one of the KalyeSerye commentators, Senator Tito Sotto, shared with her the good news perfect for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary.
An Italy-based Filipino artist named AG Saño painted a mural with YayaDUB’s face as peg for mother nature’s face as reported by Philippine Daily Inquirer. (Philippine Daily Inquirer was one of the top broadsheets in the country.) Senator Tito used his tablet to show to the camera the mural that has YayaDUB’s face on it. YayaDUB was so happy. She DUBsmashed “Happy” in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. This also prompted the Broadway Centrum crew to highlight other sketches. It was some ALDUB Nation inhabitants that sketched them.
Donya Tidora then directed her attention to Lola Nidora. “Naku, ate. Tingnan mo hitsura mo ngayon. Parang meron ka nang clue about sa bahay ni Lola. Ang saya saya mo na eh.” (Elder sister. Look at how you look now. It seems like you already got a clue about granny’s house. You look happy.) Lola Nidora can’t tell if Donya Tidora is being sarcastic or clueless. She pointed to her face. “Masaya na ba to?” (You call this happy?) She looked exasperated though at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. “Hindi ko maalala yung lugar. Kung saang lugar yung bahay ni Lola.” (I don’t remember the place. On which place is granny’s house.)
Lola Nidora had trouble remembering the house. She and her sisters were very young when they last went there. “Isipin mo. Almost 80 years na. 80 years ago na yun. Paano nating maaalala yun? Wala naman dun sa diary na nakasulat.” (Think about it. It’s almost 80 years. That was 80 years ago. How can we remember that? It’s not written on the diary.) In the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. Lola Nidora was quick to blame the diary’s thieves. “Kasalanan ito ng nagnakaw ng diary. Kulang-kulang ang pahina. Hindi ko tuloy alam kung saan hahanapin ang bahay. Itong si Yaya problemado din nga. Hindi na nakakatulog to eh.” (It’s the diary’s thieves’ fault. Pages are lacking. I don’t know anymore where to locate the house. Nanny is problematic too. She could not even sleep.) YayaDUB agreed by DUBsmashing Queen’s “I Want To Break Free”.
Donya Tinidora appeased YayaDUB. She assured her that everything would be fine. “Tayo pa ba? We are the Kalye’s Angels!” Donya Tidora advised Lola Nidora. “Ate, alam mo. Ang mabuti pa itago mo na yung diary. Baka mamaya mawala pa ulit yan.” (Elder sister, you know. It would be better for you to keep the diary. It might get lost later.) Turns out in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode that the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio held it. One of them handed it over to YayaDUB. She handed it over to Lola Nidora. She had the diary’s bag handed over too.
Lola Nidora tried to put the diary in the Chanel bag. It was at this point in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode that the riding in tandem appeared. The one at the back snatched the diary away from Lola Nidora. Both Lola Nidora and YayaDUB chased the riding in tandem. It was easy for them as the motor only went around them. As expected, the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio reacted much later. But they managed to corner the riding in tandem. Particularly the masked guy holding the diary. Donya Tidora almost joined in the melee. But she could only scream. Donya Tinidora stayed seated while telling everyone around her to chase the riding in tandem.
The masked guy put his hand forward as if surrendering. He still held the diary though. Lola Nidora took advantage of the masked guy’s stance and retrieved the diary. It almost resulted in a showdown by the covered court at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. With him cornered, he revealed himself. It was Alden Richards. Lola Nidora almost had a heart attack. “Alden naman, hijo!” (Alden, please, son!) YayaDUB was beside herself. But she could not bring herself to beat Alden. So she beat up the other half of the riding in tandem.
Lola Nidora scolded Alden. “Alden, wag ka naman nagbibiro ng ganyan!” (Alden, stop kidding around like that!) Boss Joey de Leon then asked YayaDUB. “Ano, Yaya? Lalaban ka?” (What now, nanny? Are you going to fight?) YayaDUB can’t bring herself to beat Alden still. Donya Tidora would occasionally beat Alden with her folded fan. Donya Tinidora would push Alden around. Often towards YayaDUB. Later she pushed YayaDUB too. “Ikaw, bata ka! Lumayas ka na nga!” (And you, kid! Get out of here!) And YayaDUB got pushed towards Alden at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. Alden removed his jacket and started paying his respects to the grannies.
YayaDUB was clearly caught off guard at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. Everyone was so happy. Senator Tito was so carried away with the developments. He ended up pushing Allan K a little too hard sideways. “Ba’t ako ang tinutulak mo?” (Why are you pushing ME?) Senator Tito apologized quickly. Alden then greeted YayaDUB. “Happy Weeksary”. YayaDUb replied. “Happy Weeksary”. Boss Joey can’t help but comment. “Weeksary pala. Hindi maayos yung beso-beso. Parang dinunggol lang eh.” (It’s the weeksary. The kiss wasn’t very neat. It looked pushed.) That’s when Alden remembered the preparations he made for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary.
Alden went back to his stuff. To celebrate the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. Alden gave each of the grannies flowers. Donya Tidora was speechless. Donya Tinidora was thankful for another bouquet. “Hay salamat! May malalagay na naman ako sa altar.” (Thank goodness! I have something for the altar again.) Alden returned to his stuff and pulled out a box. “Eto yung nakalimutan kong ibigay nung Saturday.” (This is what I forgot to give last Saturday.) It was the box of roses he was supposed to give YayaDUB before giving her the lost shoe. YayaDUB thanked Alden for the roses. Alden went back to DUBsmashing Brian White’s “God Gave Me You”.
Alden set another surprise for YayaDUB. “Sandali lang, Maine. Siempre di naman ako papayag na basta basta lumagpas ang 15th Weeksary natin. May sorpresa ako sa yo.” (Wait, Maine. Of course I won’t allow that the 15th Weeksary pass us by. I have a surprise for you.) After sensing Alden needed extra manpower, YayaDUB called on the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio. Donya Tinidora blurred the lines between reel and real again at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Meng, totoo ka. Wag mo kaming lokohin.” (Meng, you’re being yourself. Don’t dupe us.) One of the Rogelio put the box of roses away for the meantime.
With the help of the other Rogelio. Alden set the table for him and YayaDUB. He even helped YayaDUB sit down on her chair. Lola Nidora felt a little resentment. “Tingnan mo itong mga batang ito! Kakain sila. Tayo manonood lang.” (Look at these kids! They will eat. We will just watch.) Donya Tinidora calmed Lola Nidora down. “Pabayaan na natin, ate.” (Let’s let them, elder sister.) Alden appeased them though at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary celebration. “Kasama rin po kayo, mga lolas.” (You’re included too, grannies.) YayaDUB seconded the motion for Alden. “Lahat po tayo dito. Weeksary po natin ito.” (We’re all in this together. It’s our Weeksary.)
Donya Tinidora could only ask how. “Pano naman kami kakasya diyan?” (How will we fit there?) Lola Nidora still felt left out at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Diet kami.” (We’re on a diet.) For the food, it was the Cuando Cuando Cuando that helped Alden carry them on the tables for ALDUB and for the grannies. Of course, the course included YayaDUB’s favorite snack, “isaw” (grilled chicken intestines). Alden and YayaDUB shared the “isaw” as he DUBsmashed to Jay-R Siaboc’s “Hiling”.
Alden then asked YayaDUB. “Kumusta, Maine?” (How are you, Maine?) YayaDUB replied. “Okay lang. Ikaw?” (I’m okay. You?) Alden had a follow up question. “Nagulat ka ba?” (Were you surprised?) YayaDUB was suppressing her laughter at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. Lola Nidora was seen from behind fanning YayaDUB. Donya Tinidora got some water for YayaDUB. “Hindi pa kumakain, nabubulunan na.” (She hasn’t eaten yet she’s choking.) YayaDUB thanked her for the water. Alden wiped off some sweat from YayaDUB’s forehead. Only to smell the same sweat he swiped off her forehead. All YayaDUB could say to Alden’s question is. “Hindi ako na-orient.” (I wasn’t oriented.) This was an obvious retort to Alden’s “Hindi ako na-orient” claim at the Sunday PinaSaya episode last 25 October 2015.
Alden then remembered handing the keys over to Lola Nidora. It was the set of keys that he found at the ALDUB Key To Forever by the dump. Lola Nidora was very thankful for the gesture. Donya Tidora noticed how YayaDUB can’t look straight to Alden’s face. She then egged her to look at Alden. “Tingnan mo si Alden. Ba’t sa iba ka nakatingin?” (Look at Alden. How come you’re looking elsewhere?) YayaDUB tried to talk. “Nagulat po kasi ako eh. Di ako na-orient.” (I was startled. I wasn’t oriented.)
Alden asked YayaDUB. “Hindi ka rin na-orient?” (You weren’t oriented too?) Donya Tinidora reminded them to stay on the script.“Hoy! Aktingan muna! Wag kayong magpersonal ditong dalawa! Me sinusundan tayo o!” (Hey! Act your roles first! Don’t go personal you two! We have a script to abide by.) Before YayaDUB could at least answer in their ALDUB 15th Weeksary. Alden commented. “Ikaw kasi nung Sunday eh.” (You started it last Sunday.)
Allan K asked for another eye contact between YayaDUB and Alden. YayaDUB slightly.agreed for the sake of the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Isa lang po ha?” (Just one, okay?) And she stared at Alden. Alden complained a little though. “Ang bilis naman!” (That was quick!) So YayaDUB tried staring longer into Alden’s eyes. Later, both of them felt awkward. Alden almost got the goblets tumbled on the table. Allan K observed the almost awkward staredown too. “Hindi sila makatingin ng derecho. Nagme-make face sila.” (They can’t look straight. They’re making faces.)
YayaDUB greeted Alden again. “Happy weeksary. 15 weeks na tayo.” (We’re already at 15 weeks.) Alden added. “And counting.” Since Donya Tinidora came a little later into the KalyeSerye, she asked what weeksary is celebrated in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Ano ba yang sine-celebrate nyong weeksary? Mag-on na kayo? Nalilito ako.” (What is that weeksary that you’re celebrating? You’ve become a couple? I am confused.) Lola Nidora answered no. Donya Tidora answered. “15 weeks na silang magkakilala.” (They know each other for 15 weeks now.)
Lola Nidora chastised Alden for the prank at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Ikaw, nagbibiro ka pa kanina. Akala ko yung riding in tanders. Wag kang nagjo-joke ng ganyan. May sakit ang lola.” (You and your pranks awhile ago. I thought it’s the old riding in tandem. Don’t make a joke out of it. Granny is sick.) Alden apologized. “Opo. Pasensiya na po.” (Yes. I’m sorry.) Lola Nidora emphasized the importance of the house keys found. “Kasi alam nyo ang susi na ito? Ito ang makapagbubukas ng bahay ni Lola.” (You know these keys? These will open Granny’s house.) Everyone danced in joy.
Everyone except Lola Nidora. “Bakit kayo sayaw nang sayaw?” (Why do you keep on dancing?) YayaDUB and Alden replied. “Masaya po kami.” (We are happy.) Lola Nidora wasn’t angry but worried. “Masaya? Hindi pa kasi tayo dapat nagsasaya. Kasi nasa atin na ang susi. Hindi natin alam kung nasaan ang bahay ni Lola.” (Happy? We should not be happy yet. Because we have the key. But we don’t know where is Granny’s house.) Donya Tidora spotted how many sticks of “isaw” Alden has eaten in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. Alden just replied. “Gutom po ako eh.” (I am hungry.) Donya Tidora then asked for a DUBsmash combo from Alden and YayaDUB.
YayaDUB and Alden then dished out 3 of the most requested DUBsmash hits. The angry Malaysian clip. The Busta Rhymes clip. And the pabebe girls’ clips. Later, YayaDUB was shown pinching Alden. Once they turned around, they saw Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora feasting on the food for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. (Next time, Alden, give the grannies their space. Or you’ll lose your shared space with Maine to them.)
Donya Tidora was quick to remind her sisters. “Hoy, mga ate! Date nila ngayon. Weeksary nila.” (Hey, elder sisters! It’s their date. It’s their weeksary.) Lola Nidora justified herself. “Eh makikain na rin tayo.” (Then let’s dine with them.) Boss Joey had to comment about the ALDUB 15th Weeksary mini-banquet too. “Kaya pala pinababayaan nyo yung dalawa.” (No wonder they just let the couple be.) Senator Tito even saw which food the grannies almost ate up. “Muntik nyo nang ubusin yung swahe eh.” (You ate almost all of the prawns.)
After the Sugod Bahay errand, the grannies found YayaDUB and Alden pointing to the sky. It was as if they were star-gazing (at high noon). Donya Tinidora found it more like a scene from a moviehouse. With the grannies back. Donya Tidora asked the ALDUB couple on the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Dahil 15th weeksary ninyong dalawa, may message ba kayo sa isa’t isa?” (Because it’s your weeksary, do you have a message for each other?) YayaDUB and Alden played rock-paper-scissors first to see who goes first.
Alden won and he chose to speak first at the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Maine, Happy 15th Weeksary. Sana magtuloy-tuloy na to sa forever.” (I hope this would go continuously until forever.) YayaDUB could only reply. “Shy type po ako eh.” (I am the shy type.) YayaDUB tried to say her piece. But she got a little distracted with Lola Nidora laughing too hard away from the camera.
YayaDUB tried to compose herself as she greeted Alden back. “Happy 15th Weeksary. Thank you sa surprise ha? Na-surprise talaga ako. Sana magtuloy-tuloy na to.” (Thanks for the surprise. I really got surprised. I hope this would go continuously until forever.) Donya Tinidora snapped at YayaDUB. “Ginaya mo lang eh.” (You only copied what he said.) YayaDUB insisted that it’s true. “Hindi. Totoo naman kasi.” (No. It’s true anyway.) Donya Tinidora pressed for more. “Yung galing talaga sa yo.” (A message that really came from you.) YayaDUB was persistent. “Hindi. Totoo yun.” (No. It’s true.) Lola Nidora chimed in to get YayaDUB talking from the heart for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. “Yung galing talaga sa yo. Mula sa puso mo.” (A message that’s really from you. From your heart.)
The pressure was too much. YayaDUB ended up blurting out a line from the Pabebe Girls. “Tama na yan!” (Enough of that!) Donya Tinidora was persistent as well. “Yung totoo. Yung totoo talaga. Hindi yung ngayon lang.” (The truth. Really the truth. Not one you just pulled off today.) With all grannies (and KalyeSerye commentators) prodding YayaDUB, she spoke again. “Alden, thank you sa surprise. Sobrang nagulat ako na nandito ka. Happy ako. Sana magtagal pa ang ALDUB. Magtagal pa tayo.” (Alden, thanks for the surprise. I was so surprised that you’re here. I am happy. I hope ALDUB lasts longer. I hope we last longer.)
Boss Joey prodded Alden to answer. Alden held out his pinkie finger for the pinkie swear and said “Promise”. And so together they made the leveled up pinkie swear to heart for the ALDUB 15th Weeksary. With this. Donya Tinidora threw the tough question. “Paano dumating ang pagkakataon isa sa inyo magbabago? Papaano nyo aayusin yan?” (What if one of you changes? How will you fix that?) Alden was proactive. “Siguro po walang magbabago sa amin.” (I don’t think anything will change between us.) Donya Tinidora wasn’t satisfied with his answer. It pushed Boss Joey to coach Alden. “Ang magbabago lang sa yo, apelido mo.” (The only thing that will change is your last name.)
YayaDUB quipped. “Apelido ko po yata magbabago.” (I think my last name will change.) Alden though stuck to his answer.“Siguro po lahat magbabago. Pero kami hindi.” (I think everything will change. But not us.) With this. Boss Joey shifted his attention to YayaDUB in the ALDUB 15th Weeksary episode. He addressed her as Maine. “Kung magbabago ang apelido mo, anong gusto mo?” (If your last name will change, what would you like?) Senator Tito even made her choose. “Mamili ka. Richards o Faulkerson?” (Pick one. Richards or Faulkerson?) YayaDUB replied. “Kung ano po ang mas bagay. Siempre yung totoo.” (Whichever fitted me better. Of course, the real one would do.)
The ALDUB 15th Weeksary was overall a feel-episode. It was also a nice clarification to the kind of relationship that Alden and YayaDUB had so far. So Donya Tinidora’s role as the person with all the questions served as a tool for everyone who caught on the ALDUB fever late. Once you follow Eat Bulaga on their social media accounts, all the data you need for catching up will be found there. Most episode replays are found on Eat Bulaga’s official Facebook page. The ALDUB Predictions episode opens with YayaDUB and Lola Nidora arriving in slow motion-esque walk. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora could only speculate on the issues hanging above their elder sister’s head. Lola Nidora’s precious diary turned out to be their mother’s diary too. This explained why Lola Nidora had a detailed explanation regarding the family tree on the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode.
YayaDUB is speaking here at the ALDUB Predictions episode too. Also, she’s not wearing the apron just like in the ALDUB New Beginnings episode. Perhaps an effort to bring back Divina’s status in the household as the child of privilege. (Still, characters in the KalyeSerye call her “Yaya”.) She greeted Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora. “Hello po sa mga lola kong magaganda.” (Hello to my beautiful grannies.) Donya Tidora loved the honesty. Donya Tinidora thought that YayaDUB should learn how to be more honest. “Ang mga lola kong magaganda! Kasingganda ni Yaya! Buti na lang hindi nagmana sa ate nila!” (My beautiful grannies! As beautiful as nanny! Good thing they didn’t get it from their elder sister!)
Donya Tidora then asked YayaDUB. “How are you, Yaya?” YayaDUB replied with a DUBsmash track of “Happy”. Donya Tinidora had other thoughts in the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Happy ang kinakanta pero baligtad. Stressed na naman yang bata na yan! Kaya nagma-mashdubbing na naman yan!” (She is singing Happy but it’s the other way around. That kid is stressed again! So she’s DUBsmashing again!) YayaDUB replied with another DUBsmash. “I Don’t Care” by 2NE1.
The sisters then just went to ask Lola Nidora directly. Donya Tidora shifted her attention to Lola Nidora. “Ate, bakit bagsak na naman ang mukha mo?” (Elder sister, why the long face again?) Lola Nidora just stared at them, prolonging the long face. Donya Tinidora’s sarcasm is at it again. “Para ka namang pinagsakluban ng langit at lupa.” (You look like heaven and earth descended upon you.) Donya Tidora tried to be nice though. “Hindi kami sanay na ganyan ka.” (We are not used to seeing you like that.) As of the ALDUB Predictions episode. Lola Nidora is already in possession of the infamous diary. So she is supposed to be happy.
Dawin’s song “Dessert” played in the ALDUB Predictions episode in an effort to make Lola Nidora smile again. The clip was played and ended. And still no reaction from Lola Nidora. Donya Tinidora just took it in stride. “May pinagdadaanan nga kaya ganyan.” (She’s going through something hence the look.) Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB then spoke. “Lola, wag ka na kasing malungkot. Nalulungkot din po ako eh.” (Granny, stop being sad. I get sad too.) Seems like Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB is starting to speak longer and longer lines.
Donya Tinidora put her sharp tongue into use again. “Paanong hindi magkakaganyan yan? Pagod na, sume-set pa.” (How come she will not feel that way? She’s tired and she’s still setting.) As Lola Nidora tried to suppress her laughter. Alden appeared on the other monitor DUBsmashing “Sulat”. Later he got his mic too and called Maine. “Maine, kumusta ka?” (Maine, how are you?) She replied. “Okay lang. Si Lola kasi ano eh.” (I’m okay. It’s that Granny is into something.) Alden replied. “Ganun? Lola! Lola! Lola!” (Is that so? Granny! Granny! Granny!) Alden tried getting Lola Nidora’s attention at the ALDUB Predictions episode. All that Lola Nidora could reply with is “Ah”.
Once Alden got Lola Nidora’s attention, he continued. “Pasasayahin ko po kayo, Lola.” (I will entertain you, granny.) He then DUBsmashed Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Cuando Cuando Cuando”. Later the camera shifted to Boss Jimmy Santos, Lola Nidora’s mild crush. Later, Boss Jimmy was singing along to Alden’s DUBsmash effort at the ALDUB Predictions episode. Later, Alden DUBsmashed Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender”. He really chose hits that would remind Lola Nidora of her youth.
Alden then asked Lola Nidora. “Lola, smile na uy!” (Granny, smile please!) Later he DUBsmashed “Dessert” to invite Lola Nidora to dance at the ALDUB Predictions episode. Lola Nidora could manage to smile. But not dance. Alden then kissed Lola Nidora on the forehead to further appease her. Lola Nidora was thankful for the gesture. “Salamat, Alden. Kaya ako malungkot kasi-” (Thanks, Alden. I am sad because-) She could not continue as a bug got caught on her lips. “Bakit may lamok?” (How come there is a mosquito?)
Donya Tinidora has a nice explanation for the mosquito. “Ang lamok kasi sa madumi lang kumakapit yan.” (Mosquitoes only stick on dirty places.) Lola Nidora justified herself at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Kaya nga nagsasalita na ako.” (That’s why I’m already talking.) Donya Tinidora discouraged her further from talking. “Kaya nga wag ka munang magsalita. Dumadami ang lamok.” (That’s why you shouldn’t talk first. The mosquitoes are multiplying.) Lola Nidora blamed it on her current diet. “Puro kasi halaman ang kinakain ko.” (I’ve been eating mostly plants lately.)
Lola Nidora then continued with the explanation. “Ito kasing diary kulang ang pahina. Hindi kumpleto, naguguluhan ako. Eto yung karugtong kahapon.” (This diary lacked pages. It’s not complete, I’m confused. This is the continuation from yesterday.) She then prodded the Rogelios to keep their guard up. She’s reopening the diary to read from where she left off at the ALDUB New Beginnings episode. The riding in tandem might come out of nowhere again and snatch the diary in the ALDUB Predictions episode.
At the ALDUB New Beginnings episode. Lola Nidora read about the house to be visited on 31 October 2015. She tried to continue at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Ang bahay ay napapalibutan ng mga …” (The house is surrounded by …) Lola Nidora herself has trouble reading the diary. She had to ask her sisters for some assistance. Either the diary featured in the ALDUB Predictions episode has gotten that old. Or their mother’s handwriting is hard to read. “Hindi ko mabasa ang nakasulat kasi may …” (I can’t read what’s written because of …) Lola Nidora can’t identify the rest of the handwriting due to some dirt. So she can’t decipher what item surrounds the house pertained to in her mother’s diary entry. She decided to skip on that part for now.
Lola Nidora continued after skipping the soiled lines. “Meron itong malaking bintana at pinto na nakaharap sa kanluran.” (It has a big window and a door facing west.) Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora were quick to look for the west direction. Lola Nidora found other descriptions written. “Sa pagpasok mo ay may isang malaking larawan ng isang magandang babae.” (Upon entering, a big picture of a beautiful woman is seen.) Their mother wrote this diary as mentioned in the ALDUB Predictions episode. But Donya Tinidora openly speculated on who that beautiful woman is.
Notes described the house further as narrated by Lola Nidora in the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Ang susi ng bahay na ito ay nasa mansion na titirhan. Nakalagay ito sa paboritiong tagpuan ng mahal mo sa buhay.” (The key to this house is in the mansion to be inhabited. It is placed in the favorite meeting place of your loved ones.) Lola Nidora openly wondered. “Ang laki ng mansion. Saan kaya yung paboritong tagpuan?” (The mansion is so big. Where could the favorite meeting place be?)
The phone rang again. It was Rihanna. “Yes. Itapon mo lahat ng mga paso diyan sa hardin. Pati yung mga bote. Baka pamahayan ng lamok. Ayokong magka-dengue. Inunahan ko na yung lamok.” (Yes, Throw away all the pots by the garden. Including the bottles. Mosquitoes might live there. I don’t want dengue. Earlier I got one step ahead of the mosquito.) Donya Tidora mentioned the little net above Lola Nidora’s head. “Hindi pala effective yung kulambo mo eh.” (Your mosquito net is not that effective after all.) Lola Nidora continued with her instructions. “Saka, Rihanna, yung pinakamalaking paso diyan na hindi na tinataniman ng mga hardinero, pabuhat mo. Patapon mo na rin.” (And, Rihanna, the biggest pot there that the gardeners don’t plant into anymore, have it carried out. Have it thrown away.)
After getting over with the instructions to Rihanna. Lola Nidora went back to reading the diary at the ALDUB Predictions episode. Donya Tidora found a folded piece of paper among the pages that Lola Nidora flipped. Lola Nidora raised it above the diary for everyone to see. The paper has a foul smell. “Wow, actingan lang ‘to uy! Ang baho ng papel!” (This is just an act! The paper stunk!) It must have smelled like molds. Lola Nidora then opened the foul-smelling piece of paper.
Lola Nidora tried to remember the part where they stopped reading the diary at the ALDUB New Beginnings episode. “Di ba tumigil tayo sa ang batang kukupkupin? Ng anak mo ay siya ang magiging maswerte sa pamilya?” (Didn’t we stop at the child to be adopted? That the child will bring luck to the family?) Donya Tinidora agreed. Lola Nidora immediately understood the child referred to in her mother’s diary entry. “Maswerte ka naman talaga, Yaya.” (You are really lucky, nanny.) Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB then DUBsmashed “Happy” at the ALDUB Predictions episode.
Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB then replied. “Lola, ako po ang maswerte sa inyo.” “Ang batang yan ay magiging maswerte sa pag-ibig. Maraming dadaan. Pero sa dulo’y matatagpuan niya ang kanyang hinahanap.” (That child will be lucky in love. So much will occur. But in the end will find what she’s looking for.) Alden and Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB then got into another exchange of DUBsmash hits in the ALDUB Predictions episode. Alden later commented. “Maine, sabi ni Lola, swerte ka raw sa pag-ibig. Ako na kaya yun?” (Maine, granny said that you’re lucky in love. Could that be me?) Alden was so consumed with that giddy feeling. He was seen later running to and from the props room. Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB replied by DUBsmashing Maja Salvador’s “Kilig”.
Alden rode on the momentum to keep asking Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB some questions at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Sabi ni Lola, matatagpuan mo na raw yung hinahanap mo. Natagpuan mo na ba? Ako unang nagtanong eh.” (Granny said that you will find what you are looking for. Have you found it? I asked first.) Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB then played it safe. “Eh ikaw muna sumagot. Ako yung babae.” (You answer first. I am the girl.) Alden then replied. “Ako natagpuan ko na.” (I found it.) She was a bit startled with his reply. The KalyeSerye commentators then egged YayaDUB to reply. YayaDUB then replied in her best Gasgas impersonation ever. “Opo.” (Yes.)
Lola Nidora was her usual forlorn self at observing Alden and YayaDUB. “Pareho kayong natagpuan. E kung halimbawa hingin na ni Alden yung matamis mong oo?” (Both of you found. What if for example Alden would ask for your sweet yes?) YayaDUB replied. “Manligaw po muna siya. Di lahat ng bagay nakukuha sa madalian.” (He should woo me first. Not everything is taken so quickly.) Lola Nidora commented on her reply. “Tine-testing lang kita, Yaya. Akala ko kasi, sa tingin ko sa mga galaw galaw mo, hindi ka na magpapaligaw. Buti natatandaan mo mga turo ko.” (I am just testing you, nanny. I thought with your movements, you won’t allow him to woo you. Good thing you still remember the things I taught you.) YayaDUB agreed. “Opo, Lola. Hindi ko po makakalimutan.” (Yes, granny. I will never forget them.) Lola Nidora then shocked everyone watching the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Balik tayo sa sulat.” (Let’s go back to the letter.)
Lola Nidora noticed how the diary entry contained mostly warnings. “Puro mag-iingat ang sinulat ni Mama. Mag-iingat lang sa mga tukso at mga taong maiinggit sa kanila.” (Mama wrote mostly be careful. Be careful about the temptations and everyone envious at them.) Donya Tinidora downplayed most of these envious folks. Lola Nidora continued. “Maraming umiibig sa lalaki.” (There are so many who loved the man.) Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB can’t hide her jealousy. Alden’s reaction was more of curiosity at what was revealed so far in the ALDUB Predictions episode.
The reactions from the other grannies and the KalyeSerye commentators did not skip Lola Nidora’s consciousness. “Gusto mo, magturo ako?” (Want me to point some?) Donya Tinidora tried to stop her at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Hoy!” So Lola Nidora went back to reading her mother’s detached diary page. “Dun din sa batang kukupkupin nyo. Pero ang mga puso nila’y nagtama. Nasa kamay nila kung ito’y mahahawakan ng pang-forever.” (Same thing goes for the child you’re about to adopt. But their hearts matched. It’s in their hands if this will be grasped forever.) Allan K can’t help but comment on the word used. “Grabe si mama mo. Alam na yung forever.” (Your mama is something else. She already knew ‘forever’.)
Lola Nidora tried not to get lost in the words while reading the detached page at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Mag-iingat lang sa mga tukso. At isa pa. Sa mga taong maiinggit sa kanila. Walang gamot sa inggit.” (Be careful of the temptations. And one more. To everyone envious of them. Envy is incurable.) Donya Tinidora disagreed at the part that said envy is incurable. Lola Nidora justified their mother’s words. It was written at a time when envy was still incurable. “Meron nang gamot sa inggit. Ointment.” (There is a cure for envy now. Ointment.)
Lola Nidora continued at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Itago mo ang susi sa hardin. Sa isang paso na hindi nila papansinin. At pagdating ng tamang panahon, matatagpuan din ang susi na yan na magbubukas sa unang pag-akyat nila sa inaasam nilang wagas na pag-ibig.” (Keep the key in the garden. In a pot where they will not notice. And come the right time, that key will open towards their first step towards their desired eternal love.) Donya Tinidora remembered Lola Nidora’s instructions to Rihanna. “Eh pano ngayon niyan? Pinatapon mo eh.” (What now? You had them all thrown out.) Lola Nidora could not remember. “Pinatapon ko ba?” (Did I have them all thrown out?)
Donya Tinidora played it safe and told Lola Nidora to continue at the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Kung hindi kayo makakapasok sa bahay na ito at makuha ang isang lumang alahasan sa tapat ng malaking salamin, baka hindi matuloy ang pag-ibig na inaasam. Ang makukuha sa isang lumang alahasan sa tapat ng malaking salamin. Kailangan makuha ito.” (If you cannot enter this house and get an old jewelry box in front of a big mirror, the love aspired for may not push through. You will get in an old jewelry box in front of a big mirror. You need to get this.)
Donya Tinidora tried connecting the dots as she understood it in the ALDUB Predictions episode. “Ang ibig sabihin, ang susi sa bahay ang tinutukoy ni Mama sa diary, nasa mansion lang?” (Meaning, the key to the house is what Mama is referring to in the diary is just at the mansion?) Donya Tidora focused more on the task mentioned. “May kailangan tayong makuha dun para matuloy ang forever.” (We need to get something for forever to continue.)
Donya Tidora found it amazing to read about a prediction way back in 1938. “Mahiwaga ang bahay na yan. Mukhang noon pa man nakatadhana na ang pag-ibig nitong si Alden at si Yaya. Isipin mo. 1938 pa nakita na ng nakilala ni Mama na Pranses ang mga pangyayaring ito.” (That house is thrilling. Seems like even then the love of Alden and nanny is destined. Think about it. The French soothsayer that Mama met saw everything way back in 1938.) Lola Nidora was seen in the ALDUB Predictions episode trying to unlock her phone.
Donya Tinidora had to remind Lola Nidora. “Ate, hanapin natin yang bahay na yan. Kung nakakatakot man yan, matapang tayo. At kunin natin ang dapat nating kunin. Makakatulong yan kay Alden at saka kay Maine.” (Elder sister, let’s find that house. It ever it’s scary, we’re brave. And let’s get what we needed to get. It will be very helpful to Alden and to Maine.) Apparently, Lola Nidora can’t unlock her phone at the ALDUB Predictions episode. It took longer than expected for her to unlock the phone and call Rihanna.
Lola Nidora found the radio at the background as too noisy. But she continued with her new instructions. “Yung mga pinapatapon ko sa yo, wag mo muna itapon. I-hold mo. Hold. Ano? Nakaalis na yung truck? Lahat ng mga paso, nandun? Habulin mo, Rihanna. Habulin mo! Wag ka nang magtanong! Basta habulin mo! Kunin mo lahat ng mga paso!” (Those pots that I asked you to throw away, don’t throw them away just yet. Hold it. What? The truck has left? All the pots are there? Go after them, Rihanna. Chase them! Stop asking! Just chase them! Get all of the pots!) The truck horn honked signaling the end of the ALDUB Predictions episode.
Will Rihanna get the pots in time? What key is hidden in one of them? Would it stay consistent with the diary’s quote about the ignored pot? Tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime. Like Eat Bulaga’s official Facebook page to catch the ALDUB Predictions episode replay.

Blaming ALDUB for everything that went haywire wrong in the Philippines has gotten in vogue. The ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon has just closed (?) an monster hit segment last 24 October 2015 at the Philippine Arena. The next thing you know is that everyone wanted a piece of the action. Everyone including the haters. Because fans remember more the haters from the rabid fans.
In an effort to not be explicit (or profanity-laden). I would try to focus on the issues. I may have blocked some pages on Facebook that proliferated quotes blaming ALDUB for the nation’s ills. Then again, images get downloaded, uploaded with credit to the original uploader and spread around. It goes viral to the point where you lose track of who originally uploaded the photos bearing the incriminating quotes. In their failure to contribute to a better life for their fellowmen. They would rather impose on other people like ALDUB and the ALDUB Nation the guilt trip. Whatever they cannot do for the country, they go on blaming ALDUB instead.
It’s been a trying week for fans and spectators alike after the EB special episde Sa Tamang Panahon. And the hardest thing so far is pretending that everything is okay when haters gonna hate. Blaming ALDUB meant accusing fans of ALDUB. The ALDUB Nation is allegedly contributing to the dumbing down of the masses. An accusation that has constantly plagued Eat Bulaga as of these past few years. Surely I can’t help writing about them. But for good measure, I will not mention them here. I don’t want to be reduced to some backlink data. (If you’re a little techie, you know what backlinking meant to a blogger or online content provider.)
They (plural, maybe) attribute to ALDUB the people’s refusal to participate in intelligent discussion. That most inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation find it easier to unite a country when it involved something shallow and insignificant as that of the ALDUB KalyeSerye. And we know it’s election season. Almost everyone is looking forward to a new administration because the current president allegedly got the post by accident. Blaming ALDUB for society’s ills has become the latest shorthand for accusing Filipinos today of being dumb and ignorant of socially-relevant issues. Okay. Does it make it them feel better about themselves? I doubt it. (And yes, you can quote me for that.)
There are photos blaming ALDUB for the nation’s poverty. I remember a photo showing a beggar with a child. The caption would refer to the money poured in buying ALDUB-related merchandize and products endorsed. But not for the poor who are too weak to even know the existence of ALDUB. Then there are photos proliferating online about the unity that the world witnessed on Twitter. The kind of unity that doesn’t show whenever socially-relevant issues demand to be discussed. And perhaps the worst of them is the crowd blaming ALDUB for some youth’s ignorance about Apolinario Mabini. Seriously? ALDUB has become the convenient scapegoat?
It’s the kind of attitude that reminded me of Lola Nidora in the first months of the phenomenal KalyeSerye. Lola Nidora blamed Alden for the lost diary, for the failed attempts at raising cash for the diary’s ransom and for practically anything that came to her mind. For everything that she refused to take responsibility for, she blamed Alden. And poor Alden just accepted everything just because he didn’t want to get on YayaDUB’s bad side. Also Alden still respects Lola Nidora in the same manner that polite kids respect their elders. Simply because they are the elderly. This is the same attitude I see in people that are blaming ALDUB.
Eat Bulaga doesn’t deny being more than what it is. It’s main purpose is to entertain. There are enough public affairs programs that cater to people’s needs. In a nation riddled with half-assed soap operas and repetitive plots on primetime. ALDUB is the best alternative that the Philippine audience has found. It may be a parody of your conventional primetime TV series. But that is the point. Soap operas are so washed up. When you are sick and tired of the same old storylines, all that is left for you to do is parody them. In other words, blaming ALDUB revealed a major hypocrisy in society today. That blaming ALDUB is the easiest way to blame most soap operas in dumbing down society because it’s the biggest fish to catch.
The creative team behind ALDUB tried to make a difference though. Sometimes it can easily be viewed as their attempt to be socially-relevant. To show people that it’s not just about conquering social media. It’s about uniting people to do more with Alden and YayaDUB as inspiration. Doing good things in the name of ALDUB meant that Eat Bulaga is using the ALDUB popularity to get everyone involved in significant projects. Just like the ALDUB Library Project.
Still, as expected, naysayers still find fault in things that Eat Bulaga does through the ALDUB phenomenon. Blaming ALDUB for the fragmented nation is a subliminal way of saying “I am better than you because I cater to more intelligent television programming”. Blaming ALDUB for the dumbing down of society gives these haters a false sense of superiority. It cannot even guarantee that they are way smarter and more educated than us. But they still do it because fans are quick to jump at anyone that goes against the grain, so to speak. And sometimes that is the point why they are quick on blaming ALDUB. Have you ever realized how difficult it is to generate incoming website traffic lately? If blogging is just a hobby for you, then maybe you just blog because you have an opinion to share. And that’s what made some “haters” different from certain ALDUB hate sites. They say what they want because it’s what’s on their minds. Not everyone is good at keeping their opinions to themselves. It results in verbal diarrhea before they even realize.
And it shifts our attention to some overzealous inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation quick to pounce on anyone blaming ALDUB for society’s ills. You know why most ALDUB fan accounts on Twitter and Facebook constantly remind you of “good vibes”? Because they also know the game plan of certain ALDUB hate sites.
Welcome to the internet in case you haven’t been informed yet. This is the ultimate breeding ground for trolls and attention whores. Some fans knew that pure love, adulation and proper manners will get them nowhere. Not even a glance from their beloved ALDUB FB group page admins and ALDUB FB fan pages. They often forget that people like Maine “YayaDUB” Mendoza and Alden Richards are flooded daily with tweets and IG comments. Do you really believe they deliberately ignored the love you have for ALDUB? No. Of course not. Then again some fans are more concerned about being butthurt than considering the difficulty of replying to ALL TWEETS AND COMMENTS. Blaming ALDUB for your failed efforts at getting the attention you craved brings out the worst in some fans.
This brings to the Eat Bulaga Facebook page. It’s a nice place to hang around when you wanted to see all of the official photos and KalyeSerye episode replays. As long as you don’t go to the comments’ section of the photos and videos, you’d be fine. The comments’ section occasionally has a few articles and odes to ALDUB. The rest are efforts to fish likes and comments. Personally, if I like your comment, I will click like. Sometimes the word “like” is interchangeable with the word “noted”. You know that your comment was read because of the like button. Otherwise, it would just look like some “Click Like” contest. It’s occasionally annoying. Then again, I don’t always frequent the comments’ section. I might see random comments again blaming ALDUB for whatever idiocy occurred online again.
I know that whether I rebut these haters blaming ALDUB or not. They would keep on their daily tirade of the ALDUB blame game and hatred proliferation. This gives new meaning to that hit “pabebe girl” quote. “Kung gusto nyo, gayahin nyo kami! Wala kayong pake!” (If you want to, imitate us! You don’t care!) Sometimes, “wala kayong pake” can be loosely translated as “You have no business meddling here”. But I believe in democracy. Democracy has a funny way of exposing the bigots. Social media even gave them a spotlight for all their bigotry to be seen. FB statuses and tweets are easy to delete. Then again there’s screenshot.
And now you know why I didn’t mention who these “haters” are. It’s not simply because I refuse to give them the spotlight. Or the attention they badly craved. I learned from a friend on Facebook that you hate the deed, not the person. In Christian jargon, that’s hate the sin. Not the sinner. In short, you don’t play by these haters’ game. Blaming ALDUB for society’s ills for them meant putting Alden and YayaDUB themselves in a bad light instead of whatever negative they allegedly did. Whether this is their intention or they just hate the dumbing down of the masses, people still end up interpreting it as hating the tandem that people love today.
There are different ways of expressing nationalism. But if this nationalism would blind you to irrational hatred and generalization of everyone that loved ALDUB, re-examine your idea of being “socially-relevant”. At first it may seem like an exercise in futility to rebut these ALDUB haters. But staying quiet doesn’t help either. I was quiet. But I was never blind. And if you don’t speak up against people who enjoy riding on their high horse, they will think that it is okay to step on your rights. That it is okay to bully you around. Speaking up would give them an idea that their game of blaming ALDUB doesn’t sit well with everyone.

[Featured image from EB Official Facebook Page] The ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode seemed like a grandiose season finale to one of the most phenomenal “programs” ever to grace Philippine entertainment. The fact that this writer was at the Philippine Arena itself to witness the developments live made the experience more goosebump-inducing.
Surely, much of my point of view will include insights with the help of widescreen access. But my seat at the Philippine Arena can see the developments going on at the stage itself. The K-Pop influence is evident on the stage used at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. K-Pop fans would find the cross-shaped stage familiar with stages found in some K-Pop concerts in Seoul, South Korea. Also, I ended up tracing on stage the people that hosted and portrayed their characters. The widescreen boards above the stage served as zooming devices for the sake of the folks seated far away from the stage.
The Philippine Arena was packed. The spotlight was an occasional source of discomfort for us seated above. Then again, in order to prove to the naysayers that the Philippine Arena can be filled in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. The audience had to be shown. The world’s largest indoor arena has a total of 55,000 seats. What the naysayers thought can never be filled ended up getting jampacked. This is the crowd that witnessed a love blossom between a couple on TV. Now, this crowd gets to witness this relationship become official.
[Note: I know this is scripted. But in a world where you don’t know the truth anymore, this is a welcome respite to soaps dependent on missing offspring, psycho third wheels, kidnapping and gun-related violence to keep a story going. The villains Duhrizz and Frankie had appearances in this episode too. But they show up at ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode just for the sake of making peace with the season that occurred. Also, this is entertainment. So putting a script to make things like the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode is very much acceptable to me.]
The level of self-awareness that has become the trademark of the phenomenal KalyeSerye is also shown at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. We my not expect all of the loopholes to be plugged. But the efforts in getting them settled is astounding. From YayaDUB’s escape by hanging on to the nearest jeepney. To Lola Nidora’s previous relationships. To the youth experienced by the Kalye’s Angels to give the audience an idea about their age.
Then again, while waiting for YayaDUB and Alden Richards to arrive at the Philippine Arena. Lola Nidora kept everyone entertained. This is her bungalow after all as anticipated in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. So she became the default host for much of the program. She had an opportunity to introduce her family background apart from what Isadora revealed in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Her parents, her sisters and her children. Special mention was given to her son, Duhrizz’s dad.
There was also a part in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode where Lola Nidora relived her youth. Of course she had to reminisce with the help of her sisters, Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora. As each of them recounted their past, their younger selves were characterized by Eat Bulaga’s resident dabarkads. Lola Nidora’s younger self was portrayed by Pauleen Luna. Donya Tidora’s younger self was portrayed by HBD Girl Patricia. And Donya Tinidora was portrayed by Eat Bulaga’s craziest female dabarkads’ host apart from Maine – Julia Clarete.
The ALDUB Nation has constantly guessed the estimated ages of the triplets. The only thing that’s clear was that Lola Nidora is supposedly the eldest. But complications in the labor caused Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora to overtake her in the labor process. The younger version of the Kalyes’Angels in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon episode gave a hint to the Kalye’s Angels’ age. They all looked like flapper girls from the roaring 20’s. The Philippines was under American occupation at that time. But the jazz culture has seeped into Filipino culture then. And young girls like Tidora, Nidora and Tinidora captured the Clara Bow look in their time.
Lola Nidora also came clean among who the men in the leaked photos became her lovers. None of the men in the leaked photos had affairs with Lola Nidora. So she revealed in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode the photos of the men that she had a relationship with. One was Alberto. A genius that bored her to death because he preferred to talk about the different branches of science. Another was Antonio. (Not to be confused with the Antonio who got Isadora pregnant.) Antonio had a foul mouth and a scary temper. Scary enough to make Lola Nidora nix the relationship. Then there was Anselmo. The one who got away. After losing him, she tried to move on by accepting a betrothal arrangement with Miguel De Explorer.
While her marriage to Miguel De Explorer was arranged. Lola Nidora’s mother did not make it a walk in the park for him. He was “hand-picked” because he’s willing to do what it takes to marry Lola Nidora. To fetch water. To chop wood. And do menial work for Lola Nidora’s family as part of the deal to make himself worth of Lola Nidora. Details that seemed like a justification to the rather harsh treatment she imposed on Alden prior to the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. It took awhile for her to fall for Miguel De Explorer. But he didn’t give up. He stayed strong. And it became obvious that years after she got widowed. Lola Nidora has elevated Miguel De Explorer to a pedestal. A pedestal from which she measured Alden’s worthiness of YayaDUB.
Soon, she had to talk about YayaDUB. Or Maine Mendoza since Alden would keep on calling her “Maine” or “Meng”. That is even if everyone else in the KalyeSerye realm called her YayaDUB. (Alden never called her Divina. On whether it’s an error on Alden or his intention to pursue Maine herself for who she really is, it’s still a wild guess even at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode.) Instead of presenting Divina’s rather sordid backstory. Lola Nidora narrated how Maine Mendoza discovered her talent.
Lola Nidora narrated some basic info on Maine Mendoza at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. But most of the details shared are narrated by family and friends themselves. Maine’s parents shared that as a kid, she really didn’t talk much. They even took her to a psychiatrist. Worried that something is wrong with her as she didn’t talk even at age 5. Maine already shared her self-esteem issues on Instagram before. But her family and friends interpreted this as her actual introverted personality.
Then one of her sisters, Coleen, shared about the time when Maine admitted something to her. She uploaded her DUBsmash video of the Kris Aquino clip from Kris TV. The part where Kris Aquino said “Darla, hindi ito masaya!” (Darla, this is not fun!) She had it recorded with the help of one of the swivel chairs at their home in Bulacan. That was the earliest proof of her creativity in lipsynching. It may be a home-made video. But the effort to capture Kris Aquino’s mixed emotions was achieved. Thanks to the right camera angle and the winning facial expressions only Maine Mendoza can exude. They really allotted a major chunk of the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode to presenting Maine Mendoza as herself.
The ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode also addressed Maine’s dream of becoming a celebrity. It was a dream that she didn’t take seriously. Thanks to her almost extreme introverted nature. But it didn’t stop her from making home-made videos that entertained family and friends. Some of the clips shared even showed her and her friends in restaurant intern outfit doing mundane things. For someone that just came clean with her self-esteem issues, she liked to play-act in front of a camera. It was the self-deprecating humor that eventually evolved into who we now know as Divina Ursula Bocbocoba Smash a.k.a. YayaDUB.
It served as a contrast to how Alden Richards was presented in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. For an actor that survived 7 years in Philippine Tinseltown. The public knew enough about him. His life story was already portrayed and replayed on the GMA drama anthology program “Magpakailanman” (Loose translation: Forever). The ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode chose to recap all the hardships that Alden endured to finally be with YayaDUB. And it all started ever since Lola Nidora came clean with how she never wanted Frankie for YayaDUB in the first place.
Alden endured Lola Nidora’s sharp criticisms. (They seemed like inspired from actual comments that Alden’s haters spewed online long before he got paired with YayaDUB.) He also endured several tests that Lola Nidora put her through. The water-fetching test. The firewood delivery test. The Bicol treats. The swimming test. And the dropped plywood wall to cancel Lola Nidora’s Countdown to Tamang Panahon. (Perhaps because the Eat Bulaga creative department needed a reason to officially ditch the countdown.) The long table and the 1-foot distance. The ALDUB EB Tamang Panaho special episode showed Alden stopping at each monitor to read a love quote before moving forward to a waiting YayaDUB.
Once Alden has officially entered the stage area, he came from the middle of the Philippine Arena carrying 2 boxes. One was a box of roses and the red box underneath it. It was a rather slow walk towards YayaDUB. He put down the boxes first before alighting the stage. When he finally reached the circle where YayaDUB stood, instead of them running to each other’s arms. They walked a few steps around the circle. They hesitated in approaching each other. It was at this point that Lola Nidora appeared from behind the stage at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode.
Lola Nidora held both YayaDUB and Alden. She helped them get closer in the middle of the cross-shaped stage. “Mas masarap ang mga bagay na pinaghihirapan natin. Mga bagay na hindi pinipilit. Hinihintay ang tamang pagkakataon. Dumating na hindi inaasahan. Binago ang mga buhay natin. Yaya. Alden Eto na ang tamang panahon.” (The things we work hard for are sweeter. Things that are not forced. Waiting for the right opportunity. Arrived when we least expect them. Changed our lives. Nanny. Alden. This is now the right time.) With ALDUB now officially a couple at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. Lola Nidora left them to be on their own and walked away.
YayaDUB went after her before she could leave the stage. Alden even called her to face everyone. He then hugged her from behind as YayaDUB hugged Lola Nidora too. This really showed that the best moments in the KalyeSerye involved scenes without words. Just happy and contented faces. The ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode really served as a way to make peace with the past.
Alden then started his speech with “Maine.” (He really can’t call her Divina. And the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode is no exception.) “Ang tagal kong hinintay ‘tong chance na to. Gusto kong sabihin sa ‘yo. To say that God gave me you. Ang layo na ng narating natin. Dalawang taong naghahanap. And finally nagkita na rin. Salamat sa ‘yo.” (I waited for this moment for so long. I want to tell you. To say that God gave me you. We have gone so far. 2 people searching. And finally found each other. Thanks to you.) Alden then handed over the microphone to YayaDUB for her turn to speak.
YayaDUB didn’t take the mic. So Alden let her take his arm instead to walk the stage towards the front part of the stage. And here Alden serenaded to YayaDUB Brian White’s “God Gave Me You”. He walked around the front part of the stage while singing. YayaDUB’s hand held to his arm as he sang. Alden later was, again, emotional. Halfway in the song, he stopped to shed a few tears and hugged YayaDUB instead. It is official. ALDUB is the Philippines’ sweethearts as seen in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode.
Alden later shared the mic with YayaDUB. And she sang some lines from “God Gave Me You” to help Alden compose himself. It was almost a duet in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. It was so heart-warming. Some folks from the audience were shown in tears. But the happiest folks are obviously Kalye’s Angels. Donya Tinidora was her chiding self at seeing Alden and YayaDUB together again. Donya Tidora was her usual screaming self. She almost can’t talk. Lola Nidora then asked Alden to repeat what he told YayaDUB or Maine. Lola Nidora ended up calling YayaDUB Maine too due to Alden. Alden then repeated. “God gave me you.”
Lola Nidora then prodded Maine to reply. “Wag yung DUBsmash. Maine, puede ka nang magsalita.” (Maine, you may now speak.) “Alden ….” Donya Tinidora tried breaking the ice. She noticed both Alden and Maine are shaken due to overwhelming emotions in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. Maine tried to compose herself then. “Eto na. Eto na talaga. Alden, thank you. Alam mo, pinagdasal ko talaga itong araw na ‘to. Ganun din naman ang gusto kong sabihin sa yo eh. God gave me you.” (This is it. This is really it. Alden, thank you. You know, I really prayed for this day. It’s what I would like to tell you too. God gave me you.) With this, Alden hugged her.
After Alden let her go, Maine continued to speak. “Ang dami nang nagbago sa buhay natin. Ang dami nang nangyari. Pero may mga bagay pa rin na hindi magbabago. Alam mo na yun. Isa dun? Ikaw at ako.” (So many things have changed in our lives. So many things have happened. But there are things that will never change. You already know that. One of them? You and me.) She then DUBsmashed KC Concepcion’s cover of “For The First Time”.
Lola Nidora then egged Alden to dance with Maine at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. But before he did, he went back to his red box first. It contained the glittering shoe that Maine left at the EB Dabarkads Pa More elimination round. She left it in her rush to get away from the studio. Maine wore the shoe, hiking up her skirt a little too high for the grannies’ liking. Even Donya Tinidora and Donya Tidora were perplexed with her grand-niece’s rather wild behavior. Once the shoe is on, Alden and Maine danced. After the dance, Alden and Maine waved to the inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation present in the Philippine Arena. They also flew kisses. Maine let one of these kisses land on Alden’s cheek.
Donya Tinidora then came out after the dance to greet the happy couple. Along with Donya Tidora (who can’t stop screaming) and Lola Nidora, they then requested for the ALDUB DUBsmash combos again. Of course, the first combo they did is the angry Malaysian DUBsmash. It was then followed by the Pabebe DUBsmash clips. Everything felt right in the world again through the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode.
Later, a short clip from Rishi Jaitly, Twitter’s VP for Middle East and Asia, gave a short message to ALDUB and Eat Bulaga in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. This confirmed all of the ALDUB-related tweets as ORGANIC. Meaning more than 95% of tweets generated are legitimate. He further encouraged everyone to keep tweeting with anything that contained the ALDUB hashtags. He even encouraged everyone to follow Eat Bulaga’s official Twitter account to further proliferate the love from the ALDUB phenomenon.
All the ALDUB-related hashtags were displayed with their corresponding tweet counts. Alden and Maine then celebrated the records broken with a dance number. A slide show containing all the ALDUB-related hashtags were then displayed on the widescreen monitors at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode. Before the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon ended. The Twitter tally was at 24 million tweets for the hashtag #ALDUBEBTamangPanahon.
Maine opened her thanksgiving speech at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon with a joke. “Grabe. May boses ako di ba? ALDUB You All!”
(Oh my. I have a voice isn’t it? Thank you very much to all of you who attended and celebrated with us this day. To Team Viewers at Home. To Team Viewers Abroad. To Team Replay Viewers. To you. To all that tweets. Thank you very much. You don’t know how big it is for us to see you here. Supporting and loving us. It’s funny to think about how from the very beginning until In The Right Time, you are all still here. You were never gone. Thank you very much to all of you. ALDUB You All!)
Alden then gave his thanksgiving speech at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode too. “Eto naman po. Gusto ko pong magpasalamat una kay Lord. Kami pong dalawa ni Maine. Gusto po naming magpasalamat sa kanya. Kundi dahil sa Kanya, hindi po namin kayo makukuha para suportahan kami. Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Eat Bulaga. Ms. Jenny Ferre, thank you po. Mr. Tuviera. Ms. Malou Choa-Fagar. Sa TVJ po. Sa lahat ng dabarkads na host. Sa manager ko po, GMA Artists Center … Sa family ko po. At sa ALDUB Nation. Sa ALDENATICS. At sa lahat ng nagmamahal sa amin ni Maine. Kayo po ang dahilan kung bakit naging posible ito. Kaya para sa atin tuloy ang forever.” He got teary-eyed at this point.
(Here I go. I would like to thank first to the Lord. Us of Maine. We would like to thank Him. If not for Him, we will not have you to support us. I would like to thank Eat Bulaga. Ms. Jenny Ferre [Eat Bulaga Creative Head], thank you. Mr. [Antonio] Tuviera [Eat Bulaga Producer]. Ms. Malou Choa-Fagar [Eat Bulaga Over-All In Charge of Production]. All the fellow dabarkads/hosts. To my manager, GMA Artists Center … To my family. And to the ALDUB Nation. To the ALDENATICS. And everyone who loves us of Maine. You are the reason why this was possible. So for us, forever continues.)
The part in the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon special episode where Lola Nidora got her diary back turned out to be a fitting epilogue. It was one of the main factors early in the KalyeSerye. It pushed Lola Nidora then to “sell” YayaDUB to the man who could’ve ransomed the said diary. The diary retrieval (and Boss Joey de Leon’s antics) served as positive notes to end what may have been Season 1 of the phenomenal KalyeSerye.

#ALDUBRoadToForever Unlike previous episodes, the ALDUB Road to Forever opened with some specific instructions regarding the upcoming ALDUB Sa Tamang Panahon event at the Philippine Arena. Not everyone can make it to the Philippine Arena on October 24, 2015. But they would still like to donate to The ALDUB Library Project. As of this writing, BDO Universal Bank is setting up an account intended to receive donations from inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation residing outside the Philippines. Specific instructions will be given on the episodes to follow by the KalyeSerye commentators themselves.
The ALDUB Road To Forever episode also mentioned the number of chairs assembled from the donated plastic bottles as of October 19, 2015. 47 plastic chairs were made as of the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Eat Bulaga will have a live telecast on Saturday by 11:30am. But the Front Act starts at 10am. So arriving at the Philippine Arena as early as possible is highly recommended. Boss Joey warned everyone about scalpers and saboteurs. Tickets go as low as Php150 as shown on the Ticket World website.
With the announcements done, the KalyeSerye commentators – Senator Tito, Boss Joey and Allan K – shifted their attention to the developments in the KalyeSerye. Donya Tinidora had just arrived on the set on the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Senator Tito can’t help but observe. “Bakit papayat nang papayat ang mga Cuando mo?” (How come your Cuando’s are getting skinnier?) “Hay naku, Tito Sen. Cuando? Bangkay? Natural! Wag pakainin!” (Of course, Tito Sen. Cuando? Corpses? Naturally! Don’t feed them!) “It’s a Happy Monday. Graba, hindi na ko makatulog kasi 5 araw na lang ang tamang panahon.” (Damn, I can’t sleep since it’s only 5 days until the right time.) For an educational fund-raiser, it generated a lot of excitement.
The ladder skit was still present at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. But Donya Tinidora’s somewhat demure behavior in this episode was evident. She managed to explain herself though. “Naghahanda na kami. Siempre. Hindi basta-basta ito. Ito ay buong mundo. Yun ngang mga dance lessons ko, hindi ko na inaatenan.” (We are preparing. Of course. This is not just any event. This is worldwide. I don’t even attend my dance lessons anymore.) That partly explained the mellowed dance moves.
Donya Tinidora shifted her attention to her zombie army. “Kayong Cuando Cuando Cuando ha? Mag-ready na kayo. Yung pinakaguapong barong. Kelangan yun ang isuot ninyo. Siguro mukha na lag ang palitan. Wag na yung barong.” (You Cuando Cuando Cuando? You all get ready. The best barong. You should wear that. Maybe just replace your face. Not the barong.) Senator Tito suggested a barong with a bigger back slit at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.
Donya Tinidora agrees. She continued with the instructions in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Kelangan naliligo kayo. Hindi puede yung ganyan. Amoy alimuom kayo lahat. Maligo kayo. Yung pinakaguapo at saka isasama ko kayo sa Philippine Arena. Wag kayong malikot. Behave!” (You should take a bath. You can’t go looking like that. You all smell like crap. Take a bath. Wear the best and I would take you to the Philippine Arena. Don’t move too much. Behave!) She somewhat ended up sounding a little like Lola Nidora. Only with more sarcastic instructions.
The mere existence of ladders at the Philippine Arena is enough to get Donya Tinidora excited. “Ang daming hagdan dun. Magpiyesta tayo!” (There are so many ladders there! Let’s have a feast!) Senator Tito asked her if she would climb all of them. Donya Tinidora happily said yes. “Opo, Tito Sen!” Then she realized how she answered the question in excitement that she backtracked at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Boss Joey himself is so excited. “Kung puede mo nga lang batakin ang mga araw eh.” (If only you could fast-track the days.)
Shortly, Lola Nidora arrived with YayaDUB and the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio to the tune of Dawin’s Dessert. She greeted Donya Tinidora. “Ang bango mo ngayon.” (You smell good today.) Donya Tinidora agreed. “Alam mo naman pag katabi ko sila, bumabango ako.” (You know that I smell good whenever I am beside them.) Boss Joey agreed with Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Amoy formalin lang naman ang mga yan.” (They only smell like formalin anyway.)
Lola Nidora noticed the happiness in Donya Tinidora. “Ang saya saya mo!” (You’re so happy!) Donya Tinidora didn’t deny the elated feeling at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Siempre naman, ate.” (Of course, elder sister.) Senator Tito noticed the glow in Lola Nidora too. Lola Nidora could only calm herself despite the positive effects of the excitement on her. “Tito, pinaghandaan ko yan. Kaso kalma kalma lang. Masama sa puso ko ang masyadong nae-excite.” (Tito, I prepared for that. But I have to keep calm. Getting too excited is bad for my heart.)
YayaDUB was later extending her gaze again. Obviously looking for Alden at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Lola Nidora tried to take YayaDUB’s attention away towards Donya Tinidora. “Tingnan mo si Tinidora. Very lovely today. Bakit ka very lovely today?” (Look at Tinidora. Very lovely today. Why are you very lovely today?) Donya Tinidora didn’t think she’s the only one glowing today. “Ikaw, ikaw tingnan mo. You look adorable.” Lola Nidora just brushed it off. “Ano ba naman yan? Lunes na Lunes, nagbobolahan tayo.” (Oh stop you! It’s Monday and we’re complimenting each other.)
Donya Tinidora insisted that Lola Nidora is adorable today. “Alam mo pag sinabi kong pangit ka, pangit din ako. Magkamukha tayo eh.” (If I said that you’re ugly. I’m ugly too. We look similar.) She then tried to shift the attention to YayaDUB. She asked for preparations underway in the mansion by askin YayaDUB to talk. YayaDUB simply DUBsmashed “I’m so excited. And I just can’t hide it.” The ALDUB Road To Forever episode showed all 3 characters present so far as happy and excited.
Lola Nidora is excited but cautious. “Alam mo, Tinidora, bukod sa excited ako, kinakabahan talaga ako. Baka naman kasi may mga umeksena dun na hindi natin masabi.” “You know, Tinidora, apart from being excited. I am really nervous. Some folks might make a scene there that we can’t tell.) Donya Tinidora dismissed Lola Nidora’s apprehensions. “Wala na. Di ba okay na?” (It’s gone. It’s okay now, right?) Lola Nidora had other realistic concerns like the number of people coming as predicted in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Hindi maraming dadalo. Tuwang-tuwa ako kasi konti na lang mapupuno na natin ang ating bungalow.” (No, it’s about the crowd coming. I am so happy since in a matter of time we will fill up the bungalow.)
Senator Tito asked Lola Nidora what clothes YayaDUB planned to wear. Lola Nidora shared a few tidbits. “Iba ibang kulay. Puro pula.” (Different colors. All red.) Lola Nidora elaborated her feelings at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.”Alam ko at nararamdaman ko. Tandaan natin. Napakahalaga ng education.” YayaDUB agreed by DUBsmashing Rihanna’s “We found love in a hopeless place.”
Shortly, Alden was shown on the next monitor. Donya Tinidora acknowledged his presence. “Ayan na ang lalaking saguiguilid.” (Here comes the guy on the sidelines.) Alden DUBsmashed Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are”. YayaDUB replied by DUBsmashing M2M’s “Pretty Boy”. Alden then DUBsmashed True Faith’s “Dahil Ikaw”. It was a cute DUBsmash exchange in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.
YayaDUB admitted seeing the pillow on Alden’s music video for his single “Wish I May”. She wrote on the clipboard. “Nakita ko yung unan mo ha?” (I saw your pillow.) Alden laughed it off. Later he wrote on the clipboard. “Ilang tulog na lang! Lapit na!” (Only a few days to do! It’s getting close!) He DUBsmashed Jay-R Siaboc’s “Hiling” while raising his clipboard for YayaDUB to see it better. YayaDUB DUBsmashed Toni Gonzaga’s “I’ve Fallen For You” while writing her reply on her clipboard. “Excited na ko makita ka ulit!” (I’m excited to see you again!) Allan K screamed in joy again at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Alden replied by writing. “Lalo ako!” (I’m more excited!)
Since they were having fun with DUBsmash at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. YayaDUB requested. “DUBsmash tayo.” (Let’s DUBsmash.) Even the KalyeSerye commentators are excited to see it again. Alden and YayaDUB then went for the Malaysian rant for DUBsmashing. Donya Tinidora tried to copy it. But Senator Tito ended up hearing cuss-like sounds. “Tinidora, parang nagmumura ka na ah.” (Tinidora, you sound like you’re cussing.) Donya Tinidora denied it. Alden and YayaDUB then DUBsmashed Busta Rhymes shortly.
Just outside Alden’s den at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode is little chubby Baste. Donya Tinidora immediately saw it before Alden and YayaDUB did. Albeit envious, he tried peeping at Alden’s den. Alden greeted him with a pabebe wave though. YayaDUB tried scribbling some “appeasement” for Baste. Donya Tinidora somewhat chided Alden. “Parang uupakan ka, Alden, ah.” (Looks like he’s going to smack you.) Senator Tito knew how to pacify Baste though. “Chocolate lang ang katapat niyan.” (Give him chocolate and he’s good.)
Alden then lend Baste his clipboard. Baste then tried to write what’s on his mind. After writing, Alden let Baste show YayaDUB what he wrote. YayaDUB smiled. Her smile at the ALDUB Road To Forever is enough to make him smile too. Boss Joey tried to interpret Baste’s message. “Bulate ka ba? Eh kasi kung saan saan ka nagsususuot eh.” (Are you a worm? You like inserting yourself in several places.) Besides Boss Joey thought that Baste likes inserting himself in several places anyway. Like between Alden and YayaDUB in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.
This motivated Baste to DUBsmash Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”. [There is no microphone close by so no opportunity for him to sing.] YayaDUB replied with her DUBsmash. “You’re my honey bunch sugar plum yummy yummy pumpkin. You’re my sweetie pie.” Donya Tinidora interrupted them briefly for another set of questions. Baste then left Alden’s den to go to the next room.
Donya Tinidora asked for Isadora. “Nasaan nga pala si Isadora? Bakit hindi siya kasama ni Yaya?” (Where is Isadora? How come she is not with nanny?) Isadora’s arrival at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode opened more questions than answers. And Donya Tinidora served as the one asking in behalf of everyone shocked with Isadora’s own surprise. Lola Nidora replied. “Sa hotel siya natulog. Hindi siya tumuloy sa mansion. Pero darating daw siya ngayon para malinawan ang lahat ng mga katanungan natin.” (She slept at the hotel. She didn’t go to the mansion. But she said she’d come over today to clarify all of our questions.)
Senator Tito supported Donya Tinidora’s questions. Just when Isadora was about to reveal what she knew at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode, the truck horn honked. Lola Nidora shared her off-cam conversation with Isadora. “Hindi niya tinuloy kasi nga ayaw niyang sirain ang kaligayahan ni Yaya noong Sabado. E mabuti nga’t mukhang nagbago na si Isadora.” (She said that she did not push through because she didn’t want to ruin nanny’s happiness last Saturday. Good thing that Isadora has changed.)
Boss Joey though was more interested in looking for Donya Tidora. She’s been absent for a week now. Lola Nidora had an answer for that too. “Si Tidora naman ay pauwi na rin. Naghanap siya ng mga eskwelahan na tutulungan natin para sa ating mga ALDUB libraries.” (Tidora is on her way home. She looked for schools that we will help for the ALDUB libraries.) Boss Joey speculated though in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Baka sabay-sabay dumating ang mga yan ha? Mahihirapan tayo.” (They might arrive at the same time right? It would be hard for us.)
Tidora and Isadora arriving at the same time? Lola Nidora can’t fathom the idea this early in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Pag sabay dumating yun, aatakihin ako sa puso.” (If they arrived at the same time, I will have a heart attack.) Donya Tinidora had a better idea though. Isadora, Tidora, Nidora and Rihanna all in one place. Lola Nidora didn’t like it either. “Hay naku, aatakihin talaga ako sa puso. Sa takot.” (Oh dear, I would really have a heart attack. In fear.)
Lola Nidora drove the topic back to Isadora. “Mabuti nga at nagbago na si Isadora. Di ba dati, malimit agaw eksena yan noon. Ibang iba na sya. Masayahin na si Isadora. Dati napakasuplada nyan. At napakasuwail. Lahat ng bawal ginagawa niyan.” (Good thing and Isadora has changed. Remember then, she often gets the attention. She is so different now. Isadora is now a cheerful person. She used to be such a snob. And very rebellious. She would do all that is not allowed.) Donya Tinidora asked in what way was Isadora rebellious. The ALDUB Road To Forever episode served as a way to explain Isadora’s sketchy reputation.
Lola Nidora cited a few examples. “Pag sinabi mong kaliwa, pupunta sa kanan. Pag sinabi mong bawal umuwi ng late, naku, uuwi yan ng umaga.” (If you say left, she would go to the right. If you tell her not to come home late, she’d be home by morning.) The other examples that Lola Nidora suggested that Isadora might be suffering then from oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Then she mentioned other hissy fits that Isadora did in the past. At the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Lola Nidora was just laughing them off.
But most of what Lola Nidora remembered about Isadora involved their mother. “Hay naku, sobra yang si Isadora. Pinaluha niya ang Mama. Pati ako pinaiyak niyan. Natatakot kasi ako sa anumang iniisip niya. Pero kailangan nating harapin ito, Tinidora.” (Oh, dear, Isadora is too much to handle. She made Mama weep. She made me cry too. But we need to face this, Tinidora.) YayaDUB tried to appease Lola Nidora with her DUBsmash. But instead, Lola Nidora had a mini-heart attack at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.
Lola Nidora tried to compose herself though. She had to. She had another set of requests for YayaDUB. “Yaya, unang una, kalabitin mo ko pag magda-DUBsmash ka. Nagulat ako. Nakaharap sa atin yung speaker.” (Nanny, first of all, tap me if you’re going to DUBsmash. I got perplexed. The speaker is facing us.) Lola Nidora sighed first before continuing. “Pangalawa, yaya, wag mo kong iiwan. Promise yan ha?” (Second, don’t leave me. That’s a promise, okay?) YayaDUB spoke “Pangako po. Hindi ko po siya iiwan.” (I promise. I will not leave her.)
Lola Nidora then asked YayaDUB at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Paano kung hingin ni Alden ang kamay mo sa akin?” (What if Alden asks me for your hand?) YayaDUB simply leaned on the wall, clueless as how to answer Lola Nidora’s catchy question. Lola Nidora slightly complained. “Tingnan mo ‘to. Ipinagpalit na ko. Kamay pa lang ang hinihingi.” (Look at her. She replaced me. And it’s just the hand being asked.)
Lola Nidora continued with her reminders at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Mahaba-haba pa ang lalakbayin nyo ni Alden. Nagsisimula pa lang tayo.” (You still have a long way to go with Alden. We are just getting started.) Boss Joey suggested a sneak peak to ALDUB Road To Forever. “Gusto mo ilitanya ko? Sa Sabado, tamang panahon. Tapos magbe-brithday si Alden. May Valentine’s Day pa. Yung unang Valentine’s nila. Kawawa ang kalaban.” (You want me to say it? On Saturday, the right time. Then Alden’s birthday. There’s even Valentine’s Day. Their first Valentine’s Day together. Poor competition.) Donya Tinidora simply reacted. “Ikaw na!” The studio audience chanted Boss Joey’s name.
Senator Tito mentioned to Boss Joey that he forgot Christmas. Allan K seconded the motion in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Saan si Alden? Sa bahay nila sa Laguna o sa bahay ni Maine sa Bulacan?” (Where would Alden be? In their home in Laguna or in Maine’s home in Bulacan?) Boss Joey remembered another thing. “Meron pa tayong nakakalimutan. Yung kasal ni Bossing. Patay na patay na talaga.” (We forgot another thing. Bossing’s wedding. The competition is so dead.)
After the Sugod-Bahay segment. Lola Nidora reminded Donya Tinidora one thing too. “Tinidora, kailangan magpatahi tayo ng bagong outfit para sa Sabado.” (Tinidora, we need new outfits made for Saturday.) As Donya Tinidora makes the KalyeSerye commentators guess her outfit, another vehicle arrives at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. It was Isadora arriving to the tune of Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby. Later she shifts to Los del Rio’s “Macarena”.
YayaDUB paid her respects to Isadora. Donya Tinidora has warmed up again to Isadora. The same cannot be said of Lola Nidora. “Ano na, Isadora? Parang ang saya-saya mo pa. Ilang araw mong pinapakaba ang puso ko. Naiisip ko ring walang lihim na di nabubunyag. Kaya eto na ang tamang panahon.” (What now, Isadora? It seems that you are very happy. You got me palpitating for days. I thought that no secret remains undiscovered. So this is the right time.)
With Lola Nidora giving the floor. Isadora started to talk to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Ako ang tunay mong lola. Pero hindi ko nagampanan ang pagiging lola sa yo. At si Ate Nidora ang higit pang parang ina mo. Hija, Divina. Anak ka ni Ursula. Si Ursula ay aking anak. Namatay siya dahil sa panganganak sa yo.” (I am your real grandmother. But I failed to take over my duties as grandmother to you. And elder sister Nidora become more than a mother to you. Dear Divina. You are the daughter of Ursula. Ursula is my daughter. She died giving birth to you.)
Isadora continued. “Ikinalungkot kong lubusan yan dahil tatlong taon siyang nag-labor. Malaking bata ka noon. Batang-bata pa nun siya, hija. Mga 18 years old pa lang. Eto ang larawan ng iyong nanay.” (I was incredibly saddened since it took 3 years for her to go into labor. You were a big baby then. She was very young. About 18 years old. This is the picture of your mother.) And Isadora pulled out Ursula’s photo. [An almost recent photo of Maine Mendoza.] Divina a.k.a YayaDUB looked closely at the photo at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. She agreed that she really looked like her mother.
Senator Tito and Boss Joey then asked. “Sino ang ama ni Ursula?” (Who is Ursula’s father?) Isadora had to clarify Lola Nidora’s iron hand in disciplining Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB before answering their question at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Siguro isa ito sa dahilan kung bakit naging mahigpit sa yo si Ate. Dahil ayaw ka niyang matulad sa iyong nanay. Dahil naging mapusok siya. Nagmadaling umibig kay Dodong na aming hardinero noon.” (Maybe this is the reason why elder sister was very strict with you. Because she did not want you to end up like your mother. Because she had raging hormones. She rushed in loving Dodong who was our gardener then.)
Isadora had no love lost for her daughter’s lover. “Iresponsable si Dodong. Gusto niyang mapabilang sa aming pamilya. Pero siyang basagulero. Nagsusugal. Maraming bisyo. Kaya pinaalis namin siya noon sa mansion bago manganak ang iyong nanay na si Ursula. Kaya ipinalabas naming anak kita, hija. Para maiwasan ang eskandalo sa pamilya.” “Dodong is irresponsible. He wanted to belong to our family. But he is a trouble-maker. He gambles. He had so many vices. So we booted him out of the mansion before your mother Ursula gave birth to you. So we made it look like you’re my daughter. To thwart the family scandal.) This angle in the ALDUB Road To Forever sounded a little similar to Jack Nicholson’s situation. [Except that both grandmother and mother are dead when he learned of the truth.]
Donya Tinidora then asked what most viewers of the ALDUB Road To Forever are now asking. “Apo natin si Divina. Totoong apo natin siya di ba? Pero bakit kailangan pa nating palabasin na siya ay isang Yaya? Yaya ni Lola? Bakit?” (Divina is our grandchild. She is OUR grandchild. But why do we have to make it look like she’s a nanny? Granny’s nanny? Why?) Isadora then motioned to Lola Nidora to come clean. Why is their grandchild now the household nanny? Looking back at the ALDUB Getting Closer episode. Donya Tinidora is horrified at seeing Divina as Lola Nidora’s nanny.
Turning Divina into the household nanny YayaDUB was Lola Nidora’s idea. “Eto, pinalabas nating yaya. Kasi noong papalaki na si Yaya, nagbalik at nagbanta si Dodong na kukunin niya ang anak niya. Eh sinabi kong hindi siya anak ni Ursula. Siya ay isang yaya lamang. Kaya kailangan niyang gampanan ang pagiging yaya niya. Eh para hindi siya kunin ni Dodong na nalulong sa bisyo.” (We made it look like she’s the nanny. Because when she was growing up, Dodong returned and threatened that he will take away his daughter. I told him that she is not Ursula’s daughter. She is just a mere nanny. So she had to fulfill her role as nanny. In order for Dodong not to take her away now that he’s gone fully immersed in his vices.)
This might partly explain why YayaDUB was a bitter person on the first day that she appeared on EB Problem Solving. Before she saw Alden Richards, she doesn’t know how to smile. Not even if she’s a selfie enthusiast. And she is often viewed as way meaner and more snobbish than Lola Nidora ever was. It was a painful “demotion” from being a privileged kid in the household to becoming the household nanny. And Lola Nidora’s clingy tendencies were based on the thought of losing Divina to anyone that easily. Anyone including Alden Richards. Lola Nidora showed a little regret at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode for the rash decision.
Donya Tinidora then asked Isadora again at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Bakit hindi mo kinuha si Divina kay ate?” (Why did you not claim Divina from elder sister?) Isadora had to admit her reasons for going away. “Alam nyo, mga ate, kinailangan kong umalis noon dahil sa isang lihim ni Mama. Hindi ko matanggap.” (You know, elder sisters, I had to leave then because of Mama’s secret. I can’t fathom it.) Donya Tinidora can’t fathom it either. She can’t wrap around her head that her family had secrets this numerous. It’s as if she’s been away forever and returned to a fragmented reality.
Isadora again prodded Lola Nidora to talk. “Sige na, ate. Tanggap ko na yun, ate. Nagsisisi na rin ako.” (Go ahead, elder sister. I have accepted it. And I have regretted it now.) YayaDUB was teary-eyed. She was overwhelmed just like Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. Donya Tinidora was quick to comfort her one-time ward before losing Divina to Lola Nidora. It’s for the best as Donya Tinidora mentioned in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.
Lola Nidora started her part in the story that Isadora mentioned. “Hindi natin totoong apo si Yaya.” (Nanny is not our real grandchild.) Donya Tinidora was shocked. Lola NIdora repeated what she said. Donya Tinidora quickly got close to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Ate, teka. Pinaglalaban mo tapos hindi naman natin apo. Ano to?” (Elder sister, wait. You’re fighting for her then she’s not our grandchild. What gives?) Lola Nidora was prompted to hurry up as Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB is already crying. “Dahil hindi natin kapatid si Isadora.” (Because Isadora is not our sister.)
Lola Nidora clarified her statement in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Ang sinasabi niyang hindi matanggap na lihim ay hindi siya anak ni Mama at Papa. Pinaampon siya sa atin ng ating mayordoma noon.” (The secret that she is referring to as one she already accepted is that she’s not the child of Mama and Papa. She was adopted to us by our governess.) Boss Joey asked if he heard Lola Nidora right. “Anak siya ng mayordoma nyo. Pinaampon sa Mama nyo. So yun ang lihim ng Mama?” (She is the daughter of your governess. Given up for adoption to your Mama. So that’s your Mama’s secret?)
Lola Nidora found it painful to grasp. So it revealed another reason behind her clingy disposition to her so-called nanny in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Pero, Yaya, higit pa sa tunay na apo ang turing ko sa yo. Pinag-aral. Ginabayan. Tinuruan ng tama. Alam nyo, wala sa dugo’t laman ang pagiging pamilya. Ito ay sa tunay na pagtanggap at pagmamahal maging saan man siya nagmula.” (But, nanny, I treat more than a grandchild. Sent to school. Guided. Taught proper manners. You know, being a family is not only by flesh and blood. It is in the acceptance and love wherever she may come from.)
YayaDUB’s smudged lipstick was a minor distraction in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. She must have wiped off her tears wrong. Isadora was quick to wipe off the smudged lipstick and her tears. “Naging Joker ka, hija.” (You looked like Joker, dear.) Donya Tinidora stopped wondering why among the sisters. Isadora ended up looking way prettier than them. [Then again, Donya Tidora is not around to dispute Donya Tinidora’s statement.] “Ako, hitsura pa lang namin magkapatid na kami. Kaya pala maganda tong Isadora na ‘to.” (Me, from appearance alone I can say we are sisters. No wonder this Isadora is beautiful.)
Donya Tinidora tried to grasp what she heard in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Ang alam ko, hindi ka naman namin tunay na kapatid. Kahit di ka namin kapatid, kapamilya ka namin. Miyembro ng pamilya.” (I know that you are not our real sister. Even if you are not our sister, you’re family. A family member.) “Alam nyo, mga ate, hindi na sana ako babalik eh. Pero kelangan talagang malaman ito ni Yaya. Aalis din ako agad.” (You know, elder sisters, I am not supposed to return. But nanny really needs to know these. I’d be leaving in awhile.)
Senator Tito would not let Isadora go without answering the still-hanging question. Who is Ursula’s father? Apparently, she really found it hard to answer herself in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. She wept before she could muster the strength to reveal it. Donya Tinidora comforted her too. Isadora managed to say his name. “Si Antonio po.” (It’s Antonio.) Donya Tinidora muttered under her breath. “Sabi ko na nga ba eh. May-ari rin ng Eat Bulaga.” (I knew it. The Eat Bulaga owner.) Senator Tito then asked if it’s Tuviera or another Antonio. [Antonio Tuviera is one of the top execs in TAPE Inc., producer of Eat Bulaga.]
Lola Nidora answered after sensing that Isadora is too embarrassed to admit which Antonio fathered Ursula. “Si Antonio ang nagpintura ng ating bakod Ang apelyido ni Antonio ay Palais.” (Antonio painted our mansion gate wall. Antonio’s last name is Palais.) Isadora wanted to nip the topic in the bud real quick. “Bayaan na natin si Antonio. Maligaya na siya.” (Let’s leave Antonio alone. He’s happy now.) Apparently, he did more than paint the walls and the mansion. He painted the town red. At least that part of town where Isadora once lived as stated in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.
If Isadora didn’t want to talk about Antonio. Donya Tinidora went back to another hanging question. Why did Isadora come back? “Bumalik ako para malaman ni Yaya ang katotohanan. Dahil sa pagharap niya sa tamang panahon. Dapat alam niiya kung sino siya.” (I came back for nanny to know the truth. Because she is facing the right time. She should know who she is.) Scenes like these really make the Eat Bulaga Sa Tamang Panahon seem like a new chapter or book for YayaDUB. With this, Isadora embraced YayaDUB.
Isadora spoke further about setting Divina’s past with YayaDUB’s future in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. “Kung minsan isang yakap lang, sapat na para malimutan ang lahat ng sama ng loob. Kaya, hija, wag na nating balikan isa-isa yung mga hinanakit. Ang mahalaga dapat magpatawad. Dapat mag-move on. Sa nakaraan tayo natuto. At sa kinabukasan naman tayo naghahanda.” (Sometimes one embrace is all you need to forget all of the bad feelings. So, dear, let’s not go back to the pain. What’s important is we should forgive. We should move on. We learned from the past. We prepare for the future.)
In short, a simple wish for Divina not to end up like her mother, Ursula. And her grandmother, Isadora. Both fell in love and got a child. But neither got a happy ending. Isadora thought it over upon seeing Divina though. “Hindi pa ito ang tamang panahon para magkasama tayo, hija. Pero masaya ako na pinalaki ka ni ate nang mahusay. Higit pa sa tunay na apo. Eh ang gusto ko lang naman eh araw-araw tayong makapag-usap. Babalik din ako para dalhin ko sa yo at makilala mo ang mga pinsan mo.” (This is not yet the right time for us to be together. But I am happy that elder sister raised you well. More than a biological grandchild. All I ever wanted is for us to talk everyday. I will be back to bring over and introduce to you your cousins.)
Isadora then looked for Alden. “Alden, sana, hijo. Alagaan mo si Divina ha?” (Alden, hopefully, dear. You would take care of Divina, okay?) Alden may often forget calling YayaDUB as Divina. (He often ends up calling her Maine instead of YayaDUB or Divina.) But he clearly cared for the nanny he loved. He stood up in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode and tried wiping off Divina’s tears. It was a heartwarming gesture shown in the ALDUB Road To Forever episode. He sealed his affection with a kiss.
Isadora returned her gaze to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Kung anumang paglalakbay ninyo, nandito lang ako. Alam kong maganda ang hangarin sa yo ni ate.” (Whatever journey you take, I’m only here. I know that elder sister’s intentions are noble.) Divina just nodded to accept Isadora’s advice. It was a clean takeaway towards the truck horn’s honking. Signaling the end of the ALDUB Road To Forever episode.

#ALDUBTheBigSurprise Everyone is excited to learn of Lola Nidora’s surprise for ALDUB’s third monthsary. Donya Tinidora herself has ran out of questions to ask Lola Nidora in an effort to get her revealing the blue folder’s contents. And everyone is excited to see ALDUB again in the same episode. Even if seeing them in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode would mean going back to split screen mode.
ALDUB The Big Surprise episode showed Donya Tinidora seated away from Lola Nidora. Donya Tinidora is fed up with Lola Nidora’s minds games. But she stayed around just to hear what the surprise really is all about. Lola Nidora knew how irritated Donya Tinidora had gotten. But she doesn’t care. She even put the blue folded in chain and lock to make sure that no one knew its contents. And she doesn’t trust Donya Tinidora enough to show it. Also, Lola Nidora had to wait for YayaDUB to return at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
A car horn sounded off just outside the home where Donya Tinidora and Lola Nidora sat down. The crew had to show who hopped off the charcoal grey car. Lola Nidora is still paranoid about Isadora spying around them. It turned out to be YayaDUB. Fresh from Cebu. Too bad the freshness did not rub off on the vegetables she brought from Cebu at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. The vegetables were sent over by their aunt Bebeng.
Of course, Alden was the happiest at seeing YayaDUB back. (Whenever he is allowed to talk, he ends up calling YayaDUB as Maine.) This served as an ample opportunity in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode to switch back to their DUBsmash exchange. They clearly missed each other. Donya Tinidora was even chiding YayaDUB for her facial reactions upon seeing Alden again. Janet Jackson’s song “Together Again” best summed up everything that the ALDUB couple felt for each other.
Lola Nidora happily asked YayaDUB if ever she had seen Alden’s DUBsmash covers of her greatest hits in the ALDUB Third Monthsary episode. YayaDUB implied that she did. Because of this Lola Nidora requested Alden and YayaDUB to DUBsmash together at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. This included the DUBsmash clip that YayaDUB used in the first time that she smiled. (More like distracted, breaking character as the originally snobbish YayaDUB of the now defunct segment EB Problem Solving.)
YayaDUB was very impressed with Alden’s newfound DUBsmashing skills. So now that she’s back at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. YayaDUB deemed it fit to reclaim her greatest DUBsmash hits. This time with her better half in the ALDUB tandem, Alden Richards. Because of this they also did the Busta Rhymes DUBsmash skit and the Pabebe Girls DUBsmash skit at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. It helped Lola Nidora buy time for the big surprise that she’s been teasing for days now.
Lola Nidora was so entertained with the new DUBsmash tag team. That she taught them a new way to do the pabebe pinky swear. At ALDUB The Big Episode, it looked like a smooth mashup of the pabebe pinky swear and the pabebe heart. YayaDUB and Alden immediately learned the new way to do the pabebe pinky swear. It is safe to say now perhaps that Lola Nidora’s strictness has worn off.
YayaDUB and Alden high-fived each other for a job well done at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. YayaDUB then later asked for a kiss. For which Alden happily obliged. Lola Nidora then shared how happy she felt at seeing the kids this sweet. To think that they have been away for so long. Meeting each other in person did not cool down the warmth of love based on Lola Nidora’s observation.
Lola Nidora verbalized her thoughts based on this observation. And it can be safely assumed as commentary on long distance relationships too. “Dahil sa kanilang pagkakalayo, nasaksihan ko kung paano nasaktan at kung paano patuloy ang buhay nila. Ang sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, pag may bumigay sa kanila, marupok. Pero tingnan mo. Nanatili silang matibay para sa isa’t isa.” (Because of the separation, I witnessed how hurt they got and how they moved on with life. I told myself, if one of them gave up, it’s weak. But look at them. They stayed strong for each other.)
Lola Nidora knew what she’s talking about. Alden was not around for almost 2 weeks prior to ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. He was able when Isadora’s letter reached Lola Nidora. When YayaDUB practiced for the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals “Mabuti yan at nanatili kayong matatag. Walang bibitaw. Walang susuko. Kaya nga naisip ko na ibigay na ang sorpresa.” (It’s good that you remained strong. No one should let go. No one should give up. So I thought of finally giving the surprise.)
Even the KalyeSerye commentators present – Senator Tito Sotto, Bossing Vic Sotto, Boss Joey de Leon and Allan K – can’t hide their excitement at ALDUB The Big Surprise. Alden was like some dizzy top trying to find his place in his den. He doesn’t even know whether to sit down or remain standing. Donya Tinidora was finally relieved. She even asked Alden. “Ready ka na ba, Alden? Sumagot ka, hijo!” (Are you ready, Alden? Answer, son!) Alden was doing the thumbs up sign. [Apparently, there is no microphone close by for him to talk.]
Lola NIdora had to ask YayaDUB too. “Ikaw, Yaya, ready ka na rin ba?” (How about you, nanny, are you ready?) Donya Tinidora was so excited that she was pissed off at another sermon. Lola Nidora justified the short sermon she started prior to opening the blue folder. That she prayed long and hard for this decision to be finalized, resulting to ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Lola Nidora still has her apprehensions. But there is no turning back. So she continued with what Donya Tinidora called “sermon” in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.”Yaya, hangad naming mga lola mo ang kabutihan mo. (Nanny, we your grannies wanted the best for you. We wanted you to learn in many things. And for you to find the right person in the right time.)
Lola Nidora then turned to Alden at ALDUB The Big Surprise. “Alden, marami akong pagsubok sa yo. Pero lahat ng yon ay para sa kabutihan mo. Para maturuan kang magsikap. Para makamtan ang mga bagay na gusto mo. Para pahalagahan ang mga salitang pagtitiwala. At paghintay sa tamang panahon.” (Alden, I have put you into many tests. But all of that is for your own good. For you to learn how to be diligent. For you to achieve everything you wanted. For you to pay importance to the word trust. And waiting for the right time.)
As Lola Nidora continued, a montage of the toughest tests that Alden went through was shown at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. “Ang tatlong buwan na nakalipas ay higit pa sa tatlong taon na punong-puno ng luha, pag-ibig at mga aral sa buhay. Bawat araw, hindi natin yun pagsisisihan. May mga nagagalit. May mga kumokontra. Ang mahalaga ay ang layunin natin. Na mahanap ang tama. Tamang landas. Tamang panahon. Tamang pagkakataon. At tamang simula. Nagsisimula pa lang tayo, Yaya at Alden.”
(The three months that passed outweighs the 3 years filled with tears, love and lessons in life. Every day will not be regretted. Some are angry. Some are against it. What’s important is our purpose. To find the right thing. The right path. The right time. The right opportunity. And the right beginning.) Lola Nidora was also in a contemplative mood upon looking back. Perhaps a subliminal admission in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode that she may have gotten too far.
Donya Tinidora would occasionally interject in Lola Nidora’s lines. “Kung dati, MH ako sa buhay nyo-” “Ano namang MH?” “Malaking Hadlang” (If in the past, I was a MH to your lives-) (What MH?) (Big obstacle.) “Gusto ko pa ring maging MH sa inyo.” “Ano namang MH yan?” “Mabuting Hangarin.” (I still want to be MH to you.) (What MH is that this time?) (Good intentions.) Lola Nidora seemed like she’s killing time in telling Alden and YayaDUB what they already knew. But sometimes, it looks like self-talk in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. That she had to constantly remind herself that there isn’t anything anymore for her to worry about.
Lola Nidora continued. “Maganda ang hangarin ko. Minsan nga lang masama ugali ko.” (My intentions are good. Sometimes, my attitude is bad.) Donya Tinidora was quick to respond. “Minsan lang ba?” (Is it only sometimes?) Lola Nidora justified her very strict stance at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. “Eh kasi naman. Kung naging maluwang ako sa inyo at pinabayaan ko kayong magkilig na lang araw-araw, hindi siguro ganito kalalim ang pagpapahalaga ninyo sa araw na ito. Lalong-lalo na sa mga nararamdaman ninyo.” (Then again. If I was lenient towards you and I let you just go giddy everyday, your level of importance towards this day won’t be as deep. Especially for your feelings.)
Lola Nidora does not apologize shifting back to her strict self though. “Andito pa rin ako na lola ninyo na kukurot sa inyo pag alam kong mali ang ginagawa nyo. Pero ngayong alam kong nasa tamang landas kayo, nasa likod lang ako.” (I am still here, your granny that would pinch you if I know that you’re doing something wrong. But now that I know you’re in the right path. I am just behind you.) And with this, Lola Nidora prepared for the blue folder to be opened at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
To give Alden and YayaDUB an idea of the blue folder’s contents. Lola Nidora sent Alden a box of cupcakes with letters on them. YayaDUB has a box of cupcakes with letters to arrange too. Once Alden and YayaDUB arranged the letters, it formed 2 separate words. Alden formed the word “tamang”. YayaDUB formed the word “panahon”. This gave them a clue to what ALDUB The Big Surprise is.
Lola Nidora explained herself after Alden and YayaDUB were done with the cupcakes. “Bumilang kayo ng pitong araw mula ngayon. Mula ngayon, pitong araw. Yan ang ikapitong araw ay sa October 24. Yun ang itinakdang tamang panahon.” (Count seven days from now. From today, 7 days. The seventh day from now is October 24. That is the assigned right time.) Everyone was so happy. YayaDUB jumped with joy with Donya Tinidora. Alden entered 2 rooms at the Broadway Centrum to share the celebration at ALDUB The Big Surprise.
Alden even went to the Eat Bulaga studio audience to jump around with the rest of the ALDUB Nation in jubilation. Some fans were hugging Alden in happiness too. After everyone had their fill of happiness. Donya Tinidora was quick to ask for specifics in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Boss Joey de Leon motioned the audience to sit down and listen to what Lola Nidora had to announce in detail.
Lola Nidora mentioned how she loosened up the previously applied restrictions. “Dahil may tiwala na ako sa kanila. Ang mga bagay na hinahadlangan ko. Sa tamang panahon, shut up na ako. Pero wag na wag lang nilang sisirain uli ito.” (Because I trust them enough now. The things that I prohibit them from doing. Upon the right time, I shut up. But they should never ruin it again.) No more 1 foot distance between Alden and YayaDUB as confirmed in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Donya Tinidora asked for further specifics. “Puede na silang sumayaw? Kumanta? Magsasalita na si Yaya?” (They may dance? Sing? Nanny can talk then?) Lola Nidora said they may in the right time. Allan K then asked “Puede na silang maghawak-kamay?” (They may hold hands?) Lola Nidora only repeated her answer to Allan K at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Donya Tinidora’s next question was then thrown. “Eh saan naman gagawin ito? Baka naman sa Broadway o kaya sa mansion?” (Where will this be held then? It might be at Broadway again or at the mansion?)
Lola Nidora sheepishly shared the venue where the right time is scheduled to occur. “Pinayagan ko na kasi dati si Alden na bumisita sa mansion noon. Pasensiya na kayo. Iimbitahan ko kayong lahat sa bungalow namin.” Boss Joey was skeptical upon hearing the word bungalow. “Eh ang dami nito eh!” (But they are so many.) To think that Lola Nidora invited the ALDUB Nation to celebrate with Alden and YayaDUB. Allan K agreed with Boss Joey. “Milyones ito, Lola.” (These are millions, granny.) Lola Nidora then reached for the key to finally open the blue folder.
Donya Tinidora tried to help her out in opening the blue folder. With Lola Nidora opening the folder, she made it official. “Magkita-kita po tayong lahat sa bungalow po namin sa Philippine Arena.” (See you at our bungalow at the Philippine Arena.) And so the big surprise referred to in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode was the 55,000-seat strong Philippine Arena. A big venue indeed for all inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation that wanted to celebrate with Alden and YayaDUB. Boss Joey himself was overjoyed that he repeated “Philippine Arena!” with full conviction. Everyone from YayaDUB to Donya Tinidora to Alden to the Eat Bulaga studio audience was dancing around.
The blue folder contained the Philippine Arena’s photo. Allan K had to ask Lola Nidora if this is for real. Boss Joey was amazed at Lola Nidora’s bungalow. Donya Tinidora then asked how will the inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation reach the venue. “Papaano sila makakadalo diyan?” (How will they get there?) As everyone awaited the details regarding ALDUB The Big Surprise seven days from now. Lola Nidora’s other projects were mentioned coinciding with the right time to finally allow the ALDUB couple to go free to love one another.
Lola Nidora explained some features that come with the ALDUB-related celebration at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. “Dito sa payak na bungalow natin. Isa pa itong pinagisipan ko ng mabuti, Tinidora. Ipinagdasal at ninais kong mag-iwan ng magandang alaala. Ang pagkakaisa ng ALDUB Nation.” (Here in our simple bungalow. I have another plan that I thought long and hard, Tinidora. I prayed for it. And I wanted to leave a good memory. The unity of ALDUB Nation.)
Lola Nidora thought of connecting this project with the Eat Bulaga Plastic ni Juan project. (She earlier mentioned it at the ALDUB Meets TVJ episode.) “Ang tamang panahon ay panahon ng bayanihan. Ang mga alaalang papakinabangan ng mga kabataan at ng maraming henerasyon. Gusto kong makakita ng maraming ALDUB libraries.” (The right time is the time for cooperation. Memories that the youth and future generations will find useful. I want to see many ALDUB libraries.) The details for the ALDUB Library Project are on the next pages of the blue folder at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
YayaDUB and Donya Tinidora helped in turning the page. Here, 3 of the beneficiary schools are photographed. Lola Nidora continued. “Gusto kong makakita ng maraming ALDUB libraries sa buong Pilipinas.” (I want to see many ALDUB libraries in the entire Philippines.) The October 24 event served as Lola Nidora’s own fund-raising project. “Hindi lang tayo magkakaisa at magsasama-sama para sa milyon-milyong tweets. Kundi pati na rin sa libo-libong bata na ating matutulungan. Yan ang tunay na pag-ibig. Pag-ibig sa kapwa.” (We will not only be united and gathered together for the millions of tweets. But also for the thousands of children that we end up helping. That is true love.)
Lola Nidora’s purpose in getting the ALDUB Nation involved is simple. “Sharing is caring. Sa bawat ticket na mabibili ninyo. Lahat yun. 100% ay para sa pagpapatayo ng mga ALDUB libraries sa buong Pilipinas.” (For every ticket your buy. All of it. 100% is for the construction of ALDUB libraries in the Philippines.) The ALDUB Nation present at the Broadway Centrum started chanting “Eat Bulaga! Eat Bulaga!” in support of Lola Nidora’s ALDUB Library Project at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Lola Nidora also took the opportunity to somewhat reply to everyone that blamed the ALDUB phenomenon for the alleged indifference to socially-relevant issues. “At yan ang patunay na hindi lang tayo kilig. Tayo ay may mabuting hangarin.” (And that is the proof that we are not all about being giddy. We have good intentions.) Eat Bulaga found ALDUB The Big Surprise episode as a platform to launch their educational advocacy.
Boss Joey de Leon then somewhat broke character from being a KalyeSerye commentator in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. To that of being a spokesperson for Eat Bulaga as a program. This is in consistency to his status as one of the founding fathers of Eat Bulaga along with the Sotto brothers. Senator Tito Sotto and Bossing Vic Sotto. It was a brief confirmation to what Lola Nidora has already revealed. “Isa po ito sa pinakamalaking kaganapan sa aming palatuntunan na Eat Bulaga sa loob ng mahigit tatlumpu’t anim na taon. Sa Tamang Panahon.” (This is one of the biggest events in our program Eat Bulaga after more than 36 years – In The Right Time.)
Allan K continued where Boss Joey left off. “Be part of ALDUB history. Get your tickets at Ticket World outlets.” As he went further with the details, the monitor displayed the details that Allan K read. Bossing Vic then announced that tickets are also sold right in Broadway Centrum itself at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. But only until 6pm for that day. In a few minutes though, the Ticket World website is already down. So the rest of the KalyeSerye commentators mentioned other outlets. Inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation may frequent the said outlets.
Allan K repeated what he said at the ALDUB Battle For A Cause episode. “Do not underestimate the power of the ALDUB Nation.” Alden wrote on his clipboard. “ALDUB Nation Unite!” Lola Nidora seconded Alden’s clipboard message by saying “ALDUB Nation Unite!” She then made the pabebe pinky swear combo with YayaDUB at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
As everyone was having fun, another SUV horn was heard from outside. Donya Tinidora was again aggressive. Lola Nidora was again paranoid. Later the camera panned over the same woman with long shiny hair. She was shown talking to a woman who looked like YayaDUB from behind. The YayaDUB doppelganger was then shown handing some wads of cash to the spying woman with the shiny hair. The spying woman left as soon as she received the cash in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Bossing Vic speculated that it might be a ticket sale transaction. Donya Tinidora was amused at the possibility of seeing scalpers this early. “May nagbebenta na. May scalper na agad dun ah!” (Someone’s selling. Scalpers are already there!) Later the YayaDUB doppelganger was shown. Donya Tinidora confirmed everyone’s suspicions. It’s Isadora making her presence felt in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Lola Nidora told YayaDUB to stay behind her and Donya Tinidora. Isadora made her entrance to the tune of Los del Rio’s “Macarena”. Donya Tinidora quickly prepared the chain in defense of YayaDUB and Lola Nidora. Boss Joey reminded the sisters to calm down as the one who arrived is their sister too. (Paolo Ballesteros’ neck tattoo was a dead give-away. Then again, he’s the King of Transformation. His neck tattoo at ALDUB The Big Surprise is just a minor clue to the actor playing Isadora.)
Isadora’s opening statement was simple if not content. “Tinidora, na-miss kita.” (Tinidora, I missed you.) Donya Tinidora nonchalantly replied. “Ganun din kami.” (Same with us.) YayaDUB was visibly scared that Isadora might snatch her away just like how Lola Nidora told her. Isadora was just actually waiting from the outside. “Kanina pa ko nasa labas. Inulan na ko doon.” (I’ve been outside since awhile ago. I got rained.) After realizing that Donya Tinidora is not that angry. Isadora approached her for a hug at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Donya Tinidora hugged Isadora back. “Parang hindi ka tumatanda ha?” (It seems like you don’t age.) Isadora found it easy to explain that sort-of ageless face. “Alam mo naman ako kasi wala akong problema. Hindi ako namomroblema.” (You know me since I don’t have problems. I am not problematic.) Isadora’s striking resemblance to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB was undeniable in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Still, YayaDUB found her intimidating.
Isadora made an indirect comment supporting her previous statement. “Isa lang naman ang laging may problema diyan eh. Kaya ako laging maganda.” (There is only one person out there always with the problem. That’s why I’m always beautiful) Isadora then DUBsmashed a line from the Jim Carrey starrer flick “Bruce Almighty”. Lola Nidora’s face was expressionless in contrast to YayaDUB’s perplexed face at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Isadora further declared her “territory” by DUBsmashing Nicki Minaj.
Donya Tinidora clearly saw the similarities. “Siyang-siya. Ikaw na ikaw talaga ang anak mo. Matagal na kayong hindi nagkikita. Pero walang nagbago sa atin. Magkakapatid pa rin tayo ha?” (Very much like her. You really look like your daughter. It’s been a long time since we last met. But nothing has changed between us. We’re still sisters.) Donya Tinidora then turned to Lola Nidora. Lola Nidora is stuck in stony silence. Senator Tito found Lola Nidora stern throughout Isadora’s arrival at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Isadora tried getting close to Lola Nidora. Lola Nidora stopped her midway though. Isadora tried to break the ice. But Lola Nidora was astute in her cold treatment to her prodigal sister. Isadora wondered about her first meeting with Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Hindi mo ba ko ipapakilala kay Divina?” (Aren’t you going to introduce to me to Divina?) Lola Nidora instead asked. “Bakit ka bumalik?” (Why did you come back?) Isadora tried to reply using a DUBsmash clip at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Boss Joey repeated the question again to make Isadora answer properly. [Where can you see a TV series where the commentators are allowed to ask the very characters that they are watching ALDUB The Big Surprise episode?] In the midst of suppressed laughter. Isadora tried to compose herself “Hija, Divina, …” Before she could continue, Lola Nidora cut her off. “Isadora, nasabi ko na ang tamang panahon.” (Isadora, I already told her the right time.) Isadora then faced Lola Nidora in order to face Divina. “Ate, gusto kong makausap si Divina.” (Elder sister, I want to talk to Divina.)
Lola Nidora then turned to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Yaya, magmano ka at akapin mo ang lola mo.” (Nanny, pay your respects and embrace your grandmother.) It was a twist that the KalyeSerye commentators were stunned to hear in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. YayaDUB did as she was told. YayaDUB then cried. Isadora spoke while embracing Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Matagal ko na tong inantay, hija.” (I waited for so long for this moment, dear.)
Isadora let go of Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB to take a closer look at her grand-daughter. “Ang laki-laki mo na. Magkahulma pa yung mga mukha natin.” (You have grown so much. And we have the same facial features too.) Donya Tinidora cut them off. “Ang akala ko ikaw ang nanay ni Yaya.” (I thought you are nanny’s mother.) Isadora addressed the issue head on. “Isa yan sa mga nililihim ko na gusto kong linawin sa inyo. Pero natutuwa ako na dumating na ang tamang panahon.” (That is one of the secrets that I would like to clarify with you.) Isadora’s arrival sparked another surprise in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Boss Joey asked Donya Tinidora for clarifications about the latest revelation in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Donya Tinidora is back at her role as the asking lady. This is understandable since Lola Nidora had too many secrets revealed by now. If Donya Tinidora and Donya Tidora themselves don’t know enough about Lola Nidora, what more for everyone else who’s not Isadora?
Isadora had to explain herself to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Matagal-tagal ko nang panahon na hinintay ito na makabalik dito sa Pilipinas. Humanap lamang ako ng tamang panahon para humarap sa yo. Masaya naman ako para sa yo. At naging masunurin ka sa yong mga lola. Kaya marami kang biyayang natatanggap.” (I’ve waited for so long for this moment to return to the Philippines. I only looked for the right time to face you. I am happy for you though. And you have been obedient to your grannies. That explains all the blessings you’re getting.)
Lola Nidora cut to the chase. “Bakit ka pa bumalik, Isadora?” (Why did you come back, Isadora?) “Ate, bumalik ako para-” (Elder sister, I returned to-) The truck horn honks to signal the end of ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. The KalyeSerye commentators are annoyed again. But not as much as when Senator Tito was throwing the chairs around the studio a few days ago.

#ALDUBWayBackHome Cloning YayaDUB proved to be a somewhat effective ploy to confuse Isadora’s radar. Donya Tinidora appeared in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode in YayaDUB gear again. The disguise plan may have been Lola Nidora’s plan. But the disguises used were inputs from Donya Tinidora and YayaDUB herself. To think that both of them complained in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode.
Donya Tidora still has not returned ever since celebrating YayaDUB’s performance at the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals. Donya Tinidora is keeping the post for the meantime. Lola Nidora has yet to return. The KalyeSerye commentators were again entertained at the sight of Donya Tinidora cosplaying YayaDUB. Yes, cosplay is the safe term to use here. (Anyone from the KalyeSerye would rather use the term “disguise” than cosplay though. Just like here in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode.)
Donya Tinidora still has her Cuando Cuando Cuando. A simple loophole that can blow her cover. Beside them is that one Rogelio left at the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. He is alone at the ALDUB Way Back Home episode too. And he’s not talking where Lola Nidora had been. With Donya Tidora still not back. Donya Tinidora had no other choice but go straight to calling Lola Nidora.
In a jiffy, Lola Nidora was shown in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. She was also in YayaDUB gear. She has an army of YayaDUB clones behind her dancing to Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby. (Not all of them had the polka dotted apron too. And they looked more like Donya Tidora’s students from her street makeup classes.) Lola Nidora enjoyed the opportunity to dance around. That was until Donya Tinidora brought up Isadora again.
The mere mention of Isadora in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode got Lola Nidora livid. She can’t keep her word about calming down. She is paranoid to the point of unreasonable. Donya Tinidora had to wait for Lola Nidora to finish her tirade before putting her foot down. “Tama na yan. Puro ka haka-haka. Tigilan mo na yang mga akala. Asan si Yaya?” (Enough of those. You’re all about speculation. Stop those perceptions. Where is nanny?)
Lola Nidora ignored the question and continued her outburst. Lola Nidora’s outburst is getting her into occasional blank stares. Then the spinner had to play Dawin’s Dessert to get her psyched away from her paranoia. (Soon, episodes like the ALDUB Way Back Home would need a psychiatrist with mood swings this extreme.) Lola Nidora seems to be aware of the mood swings. She cleared her mind first before dialing her phone home.
Donya Tinidora rephrased her question. “Akala ko ba naglayas si Yaya?” (I thought nanny ran away.) Lola Nidora nipped Donya Tinidora’s own speculations. “Ano to? Tumakas lang, lumayas na?” (What gives? She just escapes and you think that she ran away?) In a few minutes, her governess Rihanna answered the phone. Lola Nidora then started checking the household from where she sat at least verbally.
Rihanna confirmed that YayaDUB is back home. Lola Nidora shifted her question to the groceries. “Nabili mo ba yung mga pasalubong ko? Gracias. Gracias. Yung mga okra, kalabasa, malunggay at wag kalimutan crispy pata.” (Have you bought the gifts? Thank you. Thank you. The okra, squash, moringa and don’t forget the crispy pork leg.) While Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora waited for YayaDUB, they went to their Sugod Bahay errand first in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode.
After a very interesting conversation with their Sugod Bahay winner (one that doesn’t beg for mercy but would rather focus on how she survived life as a single mother). Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora returned to their post. The remaining Rogelio and Donya Tinidora’s army of Cuando’s kept the post guarded for the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. Here the sisters waited for YayaDUB to arrive.
The KalyeSerye commentators then saw the remaining Rogelio with a suitcase and a boxed package. They then asked what the fuss was. Lola Nidora calmly replied. “Aalis siya.” (She’s leaving.) Because Alden hasn’t arrived yet in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. Allan K thought that YayaDUB would follow Alden to Japan. Lola Nidora denied it. “Hindi naman. Pupunta siya dun sa kaanak namin.” (No. She would go to our distant relative.) Everything is set.
Lola Nidora talked to YayaDUB again regarding this major decision made in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. “Maguusap kami ni Isadora. Paguusapan namin ang tamang panahon.” (We of Isadora will talk it over. We will discuss the right time.) Donya Tinidora is skeptical of Lola Nidora’s seemingly last resort. “Sigurado ka ba maaalagaan yan ng tama?” (Are you sure that she will be taken care of?) Lola Nidora simply said “Oo” (Yes). YayaDUB took care of Lola Nidora for years. Now it’s her turn to protect her nanny. Her aunt duties has officially taken over.
YayaDUB still didn’t want to go. But she didn’t want to go to Isadora either. Lola Nidora assuaged her further. “Hindi kita inilalayo kay Isadora. Gusto ko lang matiyak ang mga balak niya.” (I am not taking you away from Isadora. I just want to be sure of her plans.) The sisters quit their search for Isadora in ALDUB The Revelation episode. This was after Lola Nidora blew the covers of the Isadora pretenders in the said episode. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora seemingly agreed based on the developments that followed. (Also, the KalyeSerye plot switched back the focus on ALDUB.)
Now that Isadora realized that the search is stopped. She resurfaced. It alerted Lola Nidora on Isadora’s reasons for claiming YayaDUB. It made her suspicious. So before she would give up Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB to Isadora, Lola Nidora had to learn first of her motives. She managed to leave Divina in the past. What pushed her to claim what she now calls her daughter? Lola Nidora promised to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB one thing. “Susunduin kita dun pag okay na ang lahat. Sana nagbago na siya.” (I will fetch for you once everything is okay.)
YayaDUB slowly rode into the mini-coaster as the Rogelio took in her luggage. Minutes later, Alden was seen running towards her den in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. He arrived in front of his HD monitor just in time to see the mini-coaster’s door closed. He was shown carrying a single stem of red rose and a paper bag of goodies from Japan. He hasn’t contacted the riding in tandem yet. Especially now that he fears that his latest gifts will not make it in time. Alden was hurting as he DUBsmashed Rivermaya’s “Hinahanap-Hanap Kita”.
The mini-coaster hasn’t left yet. It gave YayaDUB enough time to open the mini-coaster’s window and DUBsmash in return. She DUBsmashed Lea Salonga’s cover of “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal”. Both Alden and YayaDUB were grasping at straws to keep communication lines open. They didn’t have time to grab any clipboard nearby at the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. Alden was teary-eyed as he DUBsmashed Sugarfree’s “Makita Kang Muli”.
Donya Tinidora felt sorry for the young couple at the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. She turned her attention to Lola Nidora. “Ayan, ate, yan yung isa sa mga iniisip ko. Ayan na si Alden.” (There, elder sister, that’s what I’ve been thinking. There is Alden.) Lola Nidora then had to explain the situation to Alden. “Lola Nidora ito. Baka hindi mo ako nakikilala. Alam mo, na-late ka ng dating. Minsan may mga bagay na gusto kang hawakan. Pero hindi kasya sa kamay mo.” (This is Lola Nidora. You might fail to recognize me. You know that you’re late. There are some things that we want to hold on to. But they don’t fit in your grasp.)
Lola Nidora’s tone wasn’t into blame mode. Just stating a fact in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. “Ang hindi kayang hawakan ng kamay mo, hawakan mo ng puso mo. Alden, umalis ka dahil kinakailangan. Nung umalis ka, lalong nakilala ni Yaya ang sarili niya.” (What you can’t grasp with your hands, grasp with your heart. Alden, you left because you need to. When you left, nanny knew herself better.) [Lola Nidora must have been referring to the commitments Alden had with the GMA Artists Center. GMA had to strike while the iron is hot. Hence putting Alden into the Zamboanga leg of the Kapuso Fans Day and the GMA Pinoy TV anniversary in Japan.]
Lola Nidora pinpointed further an aspect that Alden and YayaDUB separately had. (That other love teams wish they had too.) Alden and YayaDUB had careers even before they became a couple. Career growth for them was mentioned as a positive effect of the temporary separation. “Malaki ang mundo para paikutin nyo lang sa isang tao.” (The world is too large for you to let it revolve around one person.)
Lola Nidora then repeated the same advice she gave to YayaDUB. This time to Alden. “Ang pag-ibig hindi araw-araw kilig. Hindi araw-araw Pasko. Pero sana anumang mangyari, makita nyo sana ang dahilan.” (Love is not giddy everyday. It’s not Christmas everyday. But whatever happens, may you see the reason in all of this.) Alden was listening intently as he bitterly wept in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode.
This also served as an opportunity to indirectly address the growing animosity towards Alden and YayaDUB through Lola Nidora. Because haters gotta hate. And the ALDUB Way Back Home episode is no exception. “Alden, hijo, wag kang bibitaw. Dahil malapit na ang tamang panahon. Malapit na. Maraming hindi nakakaunawa. Huhusgahan kayo. Pero tanging kayo ang nakakaunawa. Kailangan nyong akayin ang mga sarili nyo para makarating kayo sa gusto ninyong marating.” (Alden, son, don’t give up. Because the right time is getting closer. It’s getting closer. Many people will not understand. You will be judged. But only you two will understand. You need to help yourselves towards your desired goals.)
Alden managed to get a clipboard to reply both to Lola Nidora and to YayaDUB. “Hindi ako susuko para sa ating 2.” (I won’t give up for the 2 of us.) It was an emotionally-charged moment in the ALDUB Way Back Home episode. Some of the KalyeSerye commentators were caught getting teary-eyed too. Alden wrote again on the clipboard. “Hihintayin ko ang tamang panahon.” (I will wait for the right time.)
When would YayaDUB be back? No one knew. But everyone is excited to see the ALDUB couple back. Even if that moment seemed stolen from what Lola Nidora wanted to happen for the meantime. Can Lola Nidora keep Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB away from Isadora while the latter’s motives have yet to be cleared? Tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime. Like Eat Bulaga’s official Facebook page to catch the ALDUB Way Back Home episode replay.
With the ALDUB love story shifting into Odyssey mode. YayaDUB would be the one missing in episodes this time around. #ALDUBStayWithMe Keeping Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB away from Isadora is starting to get tougher. Lola Nidora is willing to pull off all the stops to keep Divina a.k.a YayaDUB away from her own mother. Her own mother. Details regarding Isadora’s loss of Divina are still sketchy by this time. But the ALDUB Nation tuned in to the ALDUB Stay With Me episode to see what reasons can Lola Nidora pull out again.
Lola Nidora appeared in a Victorian gown. It looked a little like Belle’s gown in the Disney animated film “Beauty and the Beast”. The lovely gown failed to conceal the paranoia that Lola Nidora felt in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. As always, she’s upset again with the Rogelio’s. “Bakit yung mga German shepherd sa mansion, hindi naman tumatahol? Malat na naman! Sinama nyo na naman manood ng concert.” (How come the German shepherd dogs at the mansion are not barking? They sound hoarse again! You took them to watch a concert again.) Seems like the inefficiency of the Rogelio’s got rubbed off on the guard dogs too.
Hissy fits like the one shown in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode proved that Lola Nidora’s recovery is far from possible. Manic episodes like these make some fans think she might be bipolar. (Or borderline because she gets offended whether the intention is to piss her off or not.) Who knows if some of the medication included antidepressants and antipsychotics? She then called out for Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB for the medication.
It took a closer look for Lola Nidora to realize that YayaDUB is not who she claims she is. It was Donya Tinidora dressed as YayaDUB. Whether this is also YayaDUB’s concept similar to her Lifehouse concert disguise or Donya Tinidora’s idea, it was not mentioned. (The Lifehouse concert disguise was merely mentioned. They did not show the pics anymore of Maine Mendoza in plain Jane disguise for the event.)
But Donya Tinidora proved to be an effective YayaDUB decoy. She can also DUBsmash Busta Rhymes too. (It can be an effective tool in other instances like the Lifehouse concert too.) Even the KalyeSerye commentators present were almost duped in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. If not for Donya Tinidora’s legs. Sotto brothers Senator Tito and Bossing Vic would not have told the difference. “Yung legs mo lang bumigay eh. Yung kay Yaya tuwid eh.” (The legs gave you away. Nanny’s legs were straight.)
Donya Tinidora agreed. “Parang arrow ang legs nun eh.” (Her legs were like arrows.) YayaDUB is not always wearing shorts. And Donya Tinidora always felt proud of her legs. Hence the rather blunt comparison. The KalyeSerye commentators then requested for another Pabebe Girls DUBsmash in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. Donya Tinidora was happy to oblige since she has mastered the lines with Nidora.
Donya Tinidora clearly had a blast in cosplaying YayaDUB. “Alam mo nai-in love ako sa sarili ko. Safe na si Yaya ngayon. Ako kunin niya.” (You know what? I’m falling in love with myself. Nanny is safe now. She can abduct me.) That was obviously the game plan. Pretend to be YayaDUB. So that in case Isadora would resort to abduction. Isadora ends up claiming the wrong girl. [Click here to view the ALDUB Getting Closer episode gallery. Relive Donya Tinidora’s childhood ties with Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB.]
Lola Nidora is happy at Donya Tinidora’s efforts in protecting Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Kuhang-kuha. Buti na lang wala si Alden. Baka mamaya layuan niya si Yaya.” (Right down pat. Good thing Alden is not around. He might stay away from nanny.) Donya Tinidora disagreed. “Baka lalong ma-in love kamo!” (Say he might fall in love further!) Donya Tinidora DUBsmashed the other song associated with Divina a.k.a. YayaDUb – Selena’s “Dreaming of You”.
Another attribute that gave Donya Tinidora away in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode was the talking. YayaDUB is still not in full control of her speaking voice. And she has yet to learn the art of sarcasm that has become Donya Tinidora’s trademark. On the other hand, Donya Tinidora managed to copy YayaDUB’s trademark red lips. She may not always be wearing makeup while exercising her nanny duties. But it’s her most memorable feature to date.
Now where is YayaDUB? Lola Nidora had to ask her sister. “Bakit wala pa si Yaya? Nasaan si Yaya?” (Why is nanny not here? Where is nanny?) Lola Nidora had to call YayaDUB again. The moment Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5” played. YayaDUB appeared in Donya Tinidora’s gift dress. And she got Donya Tinidora copied as well. From the cha-cha moves to the ladder stunts. Even the way Donya Tinidora occasionally hit the Cuando Cuando Cuando as Bossing Vic observed in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. “Nananakit din! Nananakit din!” (She hits too! She hits too!)
YayaDUB clearly knew Donya Tinidora enough to copy even the Chuckie Doll mannerisms. It pleased Donya Tinidora well. “Mabait na bata. Ang ganda ng ginagaya mo! Pati yung steps ha?” (Good kid. The person you’re impersonating is beautiful! You got even the steps!) Lola Nidora was blunt enough in admitting the little envy she felt. “Naiinggit ako sa inyo.” (I envy you.) Dawin’s song “Dessert” start playing in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. Too bad the big ballgown Lola Nidora wore made it hard for her to dance.
Bossing Vic then asked for a closer look at “Donya Tinidora”. Donya Tinidora then called her “granny” as Bossing Vic requested in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. He can’t help but notice the ultimate impersonation applied. “Bakit ang daming patse sa mukha? May mga polka dots eh.” (How come she has all these blotches on her face? I see polka dots.) Donya Tinidora was almost defensive. “Design yan!” (That’s the design!)
YayaDUB copied even Donya Tinidora’s feet with the toes on opposite directions. Donya Tinidora then reminded YayaDUB. “O tama na! Yung rambutan mo! Baka pati rambutan gayahin mo.” (Okay enough! Watch your lychees! You might copy even the lychees.) If ever there is one DUBsmash routine only YayaDUB can do, it’s the “Chinese DUBsmash”.
Donya Tinidora then interpreted YayaDUB. “Ang sabi niya, bakit daw kailangan pa mag-disguise pa tayo? Hindi siya makikilala ni Alden.” (She said why do we have to disguise. Alden might not recognize her.) Lola Nidora then assured her in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode that it’s okay. “Okay lang yan, Yaya. Wag kang mag-alala. Makikilala ka ni Alden.” (It’s okay, nanny. Don’t worry. Alden will recognize you.)
Lola Nidora then asked YayaDUB to beautify her face. (Without removing the Donya Tinidora cosplay.) She tried to go beautiful eyes on the camera along with the pouting lips. Lola Nidora is also aware of YayaDUB’s trademark lips. YayaDUB was game to play along in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. Lola Nidora felt confident that even in this blotchy face. Alden will recognize YayaDUB.
Lola Nidora thought that Alden has reached a point in loving her no matter what. “Kung mahal ka ni Alden, kahit anong hitsura mo, matatatanggap ka ni Alden. Yung iba, nagka-pimple lang, maghahanap na ng iba.” (If Alden loves you, no matter your appearance. Alden will accept you. Others lose interest at the sight of a pimple.) Bossing Vic can’t help but comment though. “Pero kung yan naman ang itsura ni YayaDUB.” (But if YayaDUB looked like that.) He couldn’t finish his sentence in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. But he clearly pointed at Donya Tinidora in YayaDUB cosplay.
Lola Nidora continued. “Yun ngang magkakapatid, may lukso ng dugo. Yung nagmamahalan, pag nagkasulyapan, may lukso ng puso.” (If siblings have the blood lines active. Those who are in love have their love lines active.) Donya Tinidora helped YayaDUB later with her hair. The ornament usually associated with the Kalye’s Angels is falling off her wig. And Donya Tinidora proved to be YayaDUB’s kindred spirit indeed. They DUBsmashed The Corrs’ “All The Love in the World” together. It would further confuse Alden had he been around in the ALDUB Stay With me episode.
Lola Nidora was almost apologetic. “Alam ko nahihirapan ka sa mga nangyayari. Pero kasi natatakot ako na kunin ka at ilayo ka sa amin ni Isadora. Ikaw, si Tinidora, si Tidora ang pamilya ko. Isa lang ang mawala sa inyo, hindi ko kakayanin.” (I know you are having difficulty with these situations. But I am afraid that you be taken away from us by Isadora. You, Tinidora and Tidora are my family. I lose one of you and I can’t take it.) She emphasized the importance of family in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. It quite contrasted with her distrust of Isadora though. Then again, why would Isadora go to such lengths in taking Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB away from them?
YayaDUB talked again in an effort to appease Lola Nidora. “Lola, hindi ko po kayo iiwan. Kayo na rin naman po kasi ang pamilya ko eh.” (Granny, I will not leave you. You are my family.) If YayaDUB had to talk herself to calm her grannies down, she would. Donya Tinidora felt the same. “Ganun din kami sa iyo. Alam mo naman yan. Kami ni Tidora at ang lola mo.” (The feeling is mutual. You already know that. Me and Tidora and your granny.)
Lola Nidora then told herself in a way that everyone can hear. “Lagi ko na lang tatandaan. Kahit maraming problema. Hindi ako nag-iisa dahil sa aking pamilya.” (I will always remember. Even if there are so many problems. I am not alone because of my family.) Baste and YayaLUVS even appeared on the other monitor to appease YayaDUB and the grannies at the ALDUB Stay With Me episode.
Baste himself got confused with YayaDUB and Donya Tinidora. He then ended up finding both of them ugly. “Hi, Yaya! Pangit ka, Yaya!” (Hi, nanny! You’re ugly, nanny!) Of course he would often end his sentences with “Joke lang!” (Just joking!) It was in the middle of Baste’s antics when Lola Nidora received a phone call. Apparently, Isadora got hold of Lola Nidora’s phone number too. The ALDUB Stay With Me episode pushed her into paranoia again.
No sightings of the spying woman so far in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. So no opportunity to confirm if ever the spying woman and Isadora are one and the same person. This is where the ALDUB Stay With Me episode switches to Scream mode. Except that the caller is not shown in a mask. In fact the caller is not shown at all. But she can manage to describe Lola Nidora’s appearance. A clear sign that the disguise operation is not as effective as far as Isadora is concerned.
Lola Nidora pretended that she is not affected with Isadora’s threats. “Wag kang manakot dahil hindi ako natatakot!” (Don’t threaten me because I am not threatened!) She was in denial of Isadora’s real-time sightings. “Hindi ako naka-gown! Hindi ako nakatayo! Wala ako sa kalsada!” (I am not wearing a gown! I am not standing! I am not on the street!) Right when she mentioned standing, she sat down. Whether Isadora enjoyed the mind games, no one can tell. Still no sighting of the spying woman at the ALDUB Stay With Me episode.
Isadora mentioned on the phone even Lola Nidora’s crown. Lola Nidora was aghast. “Korona? Anong korona? Buhay pa ko!” (Crown? What crown? I’m still alive.) She made it sound like Isadora was referring to a crown of flowers for the funeral. Donya Tinidora was alert enough to ask her who the caller was. Lola Nidora had to admit talking to Isadora. And she can see everything where she may be at the ALDUB Stay With Me episode.
“SI Isadora ang tumawag. Bakit kailangang gawin niya ito sa atin?” (Isadora called. Why does she had to do this to us?) Lola Nidora had to share what she knew about Isadora that was not mentioned in the ALDUB Getting Closer episode and ALDUB The Revelation episode. “Si Isadora ang spoiled brat naming kapatid. Nalulong siya sa bisyo noon. Umiiyak ang Mama hanggang malagutan siya ng hininga.” (Isadora is our spoiled brat of a sister. She got into several vices then. Mama cried for her until the day she died.) She then looked around to check where had she been viewing Lola Nidora.
Lola Nidora continued. “SI Isadora ang suwail na anak. Ang suwail nating kapatid. Nung nag-aaral kayo sa abroad. Itinago ni Mama ang problema niya kay Isadora. Ako ang kasama noon ni Mama. Umiiyak siya dahil sa kagagawan ni Isadora.” (Isadora is the prodigal daughter. Our prodigal sister. While you were studying abroad, Mama hid her problems with Isadora. I was with Mama then. She cried because of Isadora.) The ALDUB Stay With Me episode tried to close the gaps left by ALDUB The Revelation episode.
Obviously, Isadora was off the radar when Tidora and Tinidora had searched for her months ago. Now Lola Nidora’s reasons behind not joining in the search for Isadora have been revealed. She did not want to be found. She’d rather go for the pounce when Lola Nidora is least aware of it. Lola Nidora was at the height of her paranoia when she noticed only one Rogelio is left behind her.
Donya Tinidora may be a little familiar with this scenario. It wasn’t the first time that some of the Rogelio left her for another employer. Some Rogelios were revealed as Duhrizz’s accomplices in ALDUB The Abduction episode. She suspected that Isadora pirated the other Rogelios. Lola Nidora then asked Donya Tinidora. “Bakit ito hindi kinuha?” (How come they didn’t take him?) She pointed at the remaining Rogelio for emphasis. Donya Tinidora didn’t mince her words. “Reject yan!” (That’s the rejected one!)
Donya Tinidora is upset at Isadora too. She may have lost Divina a.k.a YayaDUB in the past. But she did not go to such measures as that of Isadora to be with her again like what was seen in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. The skepticism on whether it is indeed Isadora still hangs in the balance though. “Nagagalit ako! Di pa nga tayo sigurado kung si Isadora nga yan! Nakakaasar!” (I am angry! We are not even sure if it’s Isadora! It’s upsetting!) So upset that she told Lola Nidora to discard of the remaining Rogelio as well. Lola Nidora chose to keep the remaining Rogelio. “Mabuti nang may pangontra tayo!” (It would be better for us to have someone to defend us!)
After the Sugod Bahay segment. (The Sugod Bahay segment involved visiting the winner right in his home again. Yay! Thanks, Eat Bulaga!) Lola Nidora directed YayaDUB to her supposed getaway vehicle. “Para sa kapakanan ito ni Yaya. Kailangan naming ilayo si Yaya. Magpapalamig muna si Yaya.” (This is for nanny’s benefit. We need to take away nanny. Nanny needs to cool down.)
Lola Nidora is running out of ideas on how to keep Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB away from Isadora. “Kasi naman, Yaya, wala na kaming maisip na ibang paraan. Sina Rogelio, hindi ko alam kung nasaan.” (Nanny, we can’t think of any other way. I don’t know where the other Rogelios have gone.) Lola Nidora planned to face Isadora with Donya Tinidora with YayaDUB not around. YayaDUB does not agree with Lola Nidora’s plan.
With YayaDUB refusing to hop into the getaway vehicle. Lola Nidora scolded her. “Ano ba naman, Yaya? Anong gusto mong gawin ko? Araw-araw akong nag-aalala! Hindi ko alam anong kaya niya!” (What the heck, nanny? What do you want me to do? I am worried everyday! I don’t know what is she capable of!) It did not appease YayaDUB in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. She even cried while hugging Lola Nidora.
Even Baste ended up teary-eyed as if he partly understood what’s happening in the ALDUB Stay With Me episode. Lola Nidora appeased him shortly before going back to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Sige na, Yaya, dumarami na ang tao.” (Go ahead, nanny. The crowd is getting thicker.) YayaDUB refused to go and ran away from the getaway vehicle instead. The truck horn honks to signal the end of the episode.
Divide and conquer seems to be Lola Nidora’s strategy in keeping Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB away from Isadora. Whether Isadora’s reasons behind taking her daughter away from Lola Nidora and her twin sisters are selfish or not, only Isadora knew. Tune in to Eat Bulaga regularly to see what other tricks does Isadora have up her sleeve. Eat Bulaga is aired Monday to Saturday at noontime. #ALDUBMissingYou Watching the ALDUB Missing You made me backread on the ALDUB Getting Closer episode recap. That was the episode that clarified how Divina ended up with Lola Nidora. Divina’s biological mother was eventually mentioned in ALDUB The Revelation episode before it was temporarily shelved. (With Alden not around, writers found the proper opportunity to get this angle resolved.)
The ALDUB Missing You episode served as an opportunity for Lola Nidora and YayaDUB to thank the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. While they managed to attend the awarding ceremonies last 11 October 2015. Lola Nidora’s thank you speech was delivered live on the ALDUB Missing You episode. YayaDUB was also very thankful for the award. She ended up speaking for herself in thanksgiving.
KalyeSerye commentator “Bossing” Vic Sotto was happy to hear YayaDUB speak. “Bigyan kaya natin ng award ito para araw-araw nagsasalita.” (We should give her an award to that she speaks everyday.) YayaDUB still gets perpelexed at hearing herself talk like what happened in the ALDUB Missing You episode. It made her forget a little about EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals. Not that she’s bitter or anything. (Meeting Alden made her nicer. Even in his absence, the bitterness is gone.)
Lola Nidora then told everyone listening how in her time. She could have won against Paolo Ballesteros in the talent department. “Nung kabataan ko, kayang-kaya kong talunin si Paolo. Kahit sa alambre kaya kong tumulay. Ngayon hindi ko na makita yung alambre.” (In my youth, I can defeat Paolo. I can cross even over wires. Now I can’t even see the wire.) But she can still strut to Dawin’s “Dessert” at the ALDUB Missing You episode. Or so she thought. Later she’s complaining of hip pains she forgot existed.
Later further in the ALDUB Missing You episode, she recounted the days when she joined a talent competition using her singing talent. She went to the grassy part of their spot on the road to demonstrate her “talent”. She sang the song from The Man of La Mancha “The Impossible Dream”. After accidentally touching some crap on the grass while recounting her story, she went back on her original spot to demonstrate the star part of her winning number. Upon singing the part “To reach the unreachable star”, she raised her star staff up high.
If Paolo’s performance is labeled “buwis-buhay” (death-defying). Lola Nidora considered her performance as “buwis-buhay” too. “Mula Aurora Blvd ginapang ko yan.” (I crawled all the way from Aurora Blvd.) Bossing Vic then concluded that Lola Nidora won through sympathy votes. “Nanalo sa awa!” (She won through sympathy.) Bossing Vic can’t help but be occasionally creeped out at Lola Nidora’s voice. [She sounds a little like that woman from The Grudge in the ALDUB Missing You episode.]
Shortly, Donya Tinidora arrived with a little black forest cake on hand. Her dance routine was just short in the ALDUB Missing You episode. “Ate! Ate! Congratulations!” (Elder sister! Elder sister! Congratulations!) She then gave her congratulatory gift to YayaDUB. YayaDUB happily opened the gift and revealed a Sunday dress. Donya Tinidora then suggested that she should join next year’s EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals.
Bossing Vic and fellow KalyeSerye commentator Allan K thought that it was a “duster” (home dress). YayaDUB had mixed feelings about the gift. Lola Nidora immediately sensed the hesitation on YayaDUB’s part. “Binili yan ni Tinidora para sa yo. Yung pension niya, binawasan niya para mabili yan sa yo.” (Tinidora bought it for you. She spent part of her pension to buy that for you.)
Donya Tinidora’s source of income was never revealed even in the ALDUB Missing You episode. So the effort she exerted in spending for YayaDUB’s gift is really worth commending and thanking for. YayaDUB then thanked Donya Tinidora for the gesture. “Salamat po, Lola.” (Thank you, granny.) Donya Tinidora was happy at YayaDUB’s appreciation. “Yan ang maganda sa mga bata ngayon. Nagpapasalamat kahit ano ibigay.” (That’s what’s good about kids today. They are thankful for whatever you give them.)
Baste then appeared on the other monitor with a bar of chocolate at the ALDUB Missing You episode. The chocolate’s name was covered with a piece of paper with Baste’s squiggles. Baste and YayaDUB then had an exchange of squiggles on a clipboard. Donya Tinidora was amused with the communication. “Nag-steno pala ito.” (So they know stenography.) Alden was still not around for the ALDUB Missing You episode. Having Baste made YayaDUB miss him less.
Baste’s age could be estimated as below 5. His songs are limited to “Thinking Out Loud” and other ALDUB-related ditties. And clearly, he could only imitate the things he sees Alden do. From the DUBsmash attempts to writing on the clipboard. But clearly, he cannot write words yet. And that’s fine with YayaDUB. Moments like these in the ALDUB Missing You episode served as playtime for her.
Lola Nidora enjoyed playtime with Baste too. She tries to play along to him through peek-a-boo games. [“Bulaga” is the local term used when playing peek-a-boo with kids. “Bulaga” is also used in situations that involved shocking people. The story on how the longest running variety show in Philippine history got “Eat Bulaga” as its title is a topic best addressed in a separate article soon.] Good thing in the ALDUB Missing You episode. Baste is less scared of Lola Nidora.
Still, the ALDUB Missing You episode is no different from other episodes where Lola Nidora is paranoid. But at least this time around, she knew the source of that paranoia. It’s Isadora. Finding her is the idea of Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora based on ALDUB The Revelation episode. Lola Nidora wanted no part in that search. And she wanted nothing to do with Isadora now. If ever there was one person among the Kalye’s Angels that can verify Isadora’s identity best, it’s Lola Nidora.
Donya Tinidora is still skeptical. Seems like she’s aware of the footage collected about the spying woman. “Hindi naman siguradong babae nga ang sumusunod sa atin. Hindi nga nagpapalit ng damit.” (It’s not even sure if the person spying on us is a woman. That person hasn’t even changed clothes.) From afar, the spying woman was shown filming them from where she stood. She even zoomed in on YayaDUB, Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora for a closer look. Still, no face is shown in the ALDUB Missing You episode.
Knowing Lola Nidora. Donya Tinidora entertained the thought of having other suspects in the ALDUB Missing You episode. The diary has yet to be recovered. “Baka naman yung mga naniningil sa yo. Yung naniningil sa libro.” (It might be those who were extorting you. Asking ransom for the diary.) Donya Tinidora wasn’t all negative about the attention either. What if it’s just the fans? What if it’s just for Halloween?
Lola Nidora was quick to dismiss any of the fans as suspects. “Alam mo, mababait ang mga yun, gumagawa pa sila ng projects. Gaya nung Red Cross. Yung mga nagdo-donate ng dugo.” (You know, they are very nice. They even organize projects. Like the blood donation drive for Red Cross.) She insisted though that the woman with the oily/shiny hair was the one spying on them. Lola Nidora was so nervous in the ALDUB Missing You episode. She asked for her blood pressure to be checked. The medics then came in to have her BP checked.
Donya Tinidora suggested that she go to their Sugod Bahay errand. Lola Nidora refused to be left alone. She must have remembered how she lost YayaDUB in the ALDUB Battle for a Cause episode because she’s focused somewhere else. “Sasama ako! Kesehodang mag-200 pa ang BP ko!” (I will go with you! So be it if my BP shoots up to 200!) Lola Nidora mustered enough strength to go with Donya Tinidora and YayaDUB to the ALDUB Missing You episode’s Sugod Bahay winner.
After delivering the prizes, a phone was heard ringing in the ALDUB Missing You episode. It was YayaDUB’s phone. Donya Tinidora was again skeptical. This time, she’s skeptical about YayaDUB answering the phone. YayaDUB is still not in control of her voice. YayaDUB managed to answer the phone though. While her replies were limited to “Opo”, later her voice broke.
Donya Tinidora got worried enough to take away the phone from YayaDUB. The line was dead once she tried to talk to whoever is on the line. She looked at YayaDUB and found her scared. YayaDUB clung to Lola Nidora in fear. Lola Nidora then asked her who was it anyway? “Si Isadora po.” (It’s Isadora.) Seems like YayaDUB is gaining control of her voice in the ALDUB Missing You episode.
Could Isadora have known that her daughter’s voice is starting to get heard hence her decision to come back? How did she learn of YayaDUB’s number? Not even Alden knew especially now that he has not even returned in the ALDUB Missing You episode. Tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime. Seems like the Eat Bulaga creative department is using Alden’s absence to resolve hanging angles in the hit KalyeSerye. But unlike the arrival of Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora. Isadora’s arrival might not happen on a weekday. Might. It’s still uncertain. Then again, what other major event is the ALDUB Nation waiting for Saturday?
