#ALDUBTheBigSurprise Everyone is excited to learn of Lola Nidora’s surprise for ALDUB’s third monthsary. Donya Tinidora herself has ran out of questions to ask Lola Nidora in an effort to get her revealing the blue folder’s contents. And everyone is excited to see ALDUB again in the same episode. Even if seeing them in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode would mean going back to split screen mode.
ALDUB The Big Surprise episode showed Donya Tinidora seated away from Lola Nidora. Donya Tinidora is fed up with Lola Nidora’s minds games. But she stayed around just to hear what the surprise really is all about. Lola Nidora knew how irritated Donya Tinidora had gotten. But she doesn’t care. She even put the blue folded in chain and lock to make sure that no one knew its contents. And she doesn’t trust Donya Tinidora enough to show it. Also, Lola Nidora had to wait for YayaDUB to return at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
A car horn sounded off just outside the home where Donya Tinidora and Lola Nidora sat down. The crew had to show who hopped off the charcoal grey car. Lola Nidora is still paranoid about Isadora spying around them. It turned out to be YayaDUB. Fresh from Cebu. Too bad the freshness did not rub off on the vegetables she brought from Cebu at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. The vegetables were sent over by their aunt Bebeng.
Of course, Alden was the happiest at seeing YayaDUB back. (Whenever he is allowed to talk, he ends up calling YayaDUB as Maine.) This served as an ample opportunity in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode to switch back to their DUBsmash exchange. They clearly missed each other. Donya Tinidora was even chiding YayaDUB for her facial reactions upon seeing Alden again. Janet Jackson’s song “Together Again” best summed up everything that the ALDUB couple felt for each other.
Lola Nidora happily asked YayaDUB if ever she had seen Alden’s DUBsmash covers of her greatest hits in the ALDUB Third Monthsary episode. YayaDUB implied that she did. Because of this Lola Nidora requested Alden and YayaDUB to DUBsmash together at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. This included the DUBsmash clip that YayaDUB used in the first time that she smiled. (More like distracted, breaking character as the originally snobbish YayaDUB of the now defunct segment EB Problem Solving.)
YayaDUB was very impressed with Alden’s newfound DUBsmashing skills. So now that she’s back at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. YayaDUB deemed it fit to reclaim her greatest DUBsmash hits. This time with her better half in the ALDUB tandem, Alden Richards. Because of this they also did the Busta Rhymes DUBsmash skit and the Pabebe Girls DUBsmash skit at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. It helped Lola Nidora buy time for the big surprise that she’s been teasing for days now.
Lola Nidora was so entertained with the new DUBsmash tag team. That she taught them a new way to do the pabebe pinky swear. At ALDUB The Big Episode, it looked like a smooth mashup of the pabebe pinky swear and the pabebe heart. YayaDUB and Alden immediately learned the new way to do the pabebe pinky swear. It is safe to say now perhaps that Lola Nidora’s strictness has worn off.
YayaDUB and Alden high-fived each other for a job well done at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. YayaDUB then later asked for a kiss. For which Alden happily obliged. Lola Nidora then shared how happy she felt at seeing the kids this sweet. To think that they have been away for so long. Meeting each other in person did not cool down the warmth of love based on Lola Nidora’s observation.
Lola Nidora verbalized her thoughts based on this observation. And it can be safely assumed as commentary on long distance relationships too. “Dahil sa kanilang pagkakalayo, nasaksihan ko kung paano nasaktan at kung paano patuloy ang buhay nila. Ang sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, pag may bumigay sa kanila, marupok. Pero tingnan mo. Nanatili silang matibay para sa isa’t isa.” (Because of the separation, I witnessed how hurt they got and how they moved on with life. I told myself, if one of them gave up, it’s weak. But look at them. They stayed strong for each other.)
Lola Nidora knew what she’s talking about. Alden was not around for almost 2 weeks prior to ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. He was able when Isadora’s letter reached Lola Nidora. When YayaDUB practiced for the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals “Mabuti yan at nanatili kayong matatag. Walang bibitaw. Walang susuko. Kaya nga naisip ko na ibigay na ang sorpresa.” (It’s good that you remained strong. No one should let go. No one should give up. So I thought of finally giving the surprise.)
Even the KalyeSerye commentators present – Senator Tito Sotto, Bossing Vic Sotto, Boss Joey de Leon and Allan K – can’t hide their excitement at ALDUB The Big Surprise. Alden was like some dizzy top trying to find his place in his den. He doesn’t even know whether to sit down or remain standing. Donya Tinidora was finally relieved. She even asked Alden. “Ready ka na ba, Alden? Sumagot ka, hijo!” (Are you ready, Alden? Answer, son!) Alden was doing the thumbs up sign. [Apparently, there is no microphone close by for him to talk.]
Lola NIdora had to ask YayaDUB too. “Ikaw, Yaya, ready ka na rin ba?” (How about you, nanny, are you ready?) Donya Tinidora was so excited that she was pissed off at another sermon. Lola Nidora justified the short sermon she started prior to opening the blue folder. That she prayed long and hard for this decision to be finalized, resulting to ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Lola Nidora still has her apprehensions. But there is no turning back. So she continued with what Donya Tinidora called “sermon” in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.”Yaya, hangad naming mga lola mo ang kabutihan mo. Hangad naming matuto ka sa maraming bagay. At matagpuan mo ang karapat-dapat sa yo sa tamang panahon.” (Nanny, we your grannies wanted the best for you. We wanted you to learn in many things. And for you to find the right person in the right time.)
Lola Nidora then turned to Alden at ALDUB The Big Surprise. “Alden, marami akong pagsubok sa yo. Pero lahat ng yon ay para sa kabutihan mo. Para maturuan kang magsikap. Para makamtan ang mga bagay na gusto mo. Para pahalagahan ang mga salitang pagtitiwala. At paghintay sa tamang panahon.” (Alden, I have put you into many tests. But all of that is for your own good. For you to learn how to be diligent. For you to achieve everything you wanted. For you to pay importance to the word trust. And waiting for the right time.)
As Lola Nidora continued, a montage of the toughest tests that Alden went through was shown at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. “Ang tatlong buwan na nakalipas ay higit pa sa tatlong taon na punong-puno ng luha, pag-ibig at mga aral sa buhay. Bawat araw, hindi natin yun pagsisisihan. May mga nagagalit. May mga kumokontra. Ang mahalaga ay ang layunin natin. Na mahanap ang tama. Tamang landas. Tamang panahon. Tamang pagkakataon. At tamang simula. Nagsisimula pa lang tayo, Yaya at Alden.”
(The three months that passed outweighs the 3 years filled with tears, love and lessons in life. Every day will not be regretted. Some are angry. Some are against it. What’s important is our purpose. To find the right thing. The right path. The right time. The right opportunity. And the right beginning.) Lola Nidora was also in a contemplative mood upon looking back. Perhaps a subliminal admission in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode that she may have gotten too far.
Donya Tinidora would occasionally interject in Lola Nidora’s lines. “Kung dati, MH ako sa buhay nyo-” “Ano namang MH?” “Malaking Hadlang” (If in the past, I was a MH to your lives-) (What MH?) (Big obstacle.) “Gusto ko pa ring maging MH sa inyo.” “Ano namang MH yan?” “Mabuting Hangarin.” (I still want to be MH to you.) (What MH is that this time?) (Good intentions.) Lola Nidora seemed like she’s killing time in telling Alden and YayaDUB what they already knew. But sometimes, it looks like self-talk in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. That she had to constantly remind herself that there isn’t anything anymore for her to worry about.
Lola Nidora continued. “Maganda ang hangarin ko. Minsan nga lang masama ugali ko.” (My intentions are good. Sometimes, my attitude is bad.) Donya Tinidora was quick to respond. “Minsan lang ba?” (Is it only sometimes?) Lola Nidora justified her very strict stance at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. “Eh kasi naman. Kung naging maluwang ako sa inyo at pinabayaan ko kayong magkilig na lang araw-araw, hindi siguro ganito kalalim ang pagpapahalaga ninyo sa araw na ito. Lalong-lalo na sa mga nararamdaman ninyo.” (Then again. If I was lenient towards you and I let you just go giddy everyday, your level of importance towards this day won’t be as deep. Especially for your feelings.)
Lola Nidora does not apologize shifting back to her strict self though. “Andito pa rin ako na lola ninyo na kukurot sa inyo pag alam kong mali ang ginagawa nyo. Pero ngayong alam kong nasa tamang landas kayo, nasa likod lang ako.” (I am still here, your granny that would pinch you if I know that you’re doing something wrong. But now that I know you’re in the right path. I am just behind you.) And with this, Lola Nidora prepared for the blue folder to be opened at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
To give Alden and YayaDUB an idea of the blue folder’s contents. Lola Nidora sent Alden a box of cupcakes with letters on them. YayaDUB has a box of cupcakes with letters to arrange too. Once Alden and YayaDUB arranged the letters, it formed 2 separate words. Alden formed the word “tamang”. YayaDUB formed the word “panahon”. This gave them a clue to what ALDUB The Big Surprise is.
Lola Nidora explained herself after Alden and YayaDUB were done with the cupcakes. “Bumilang kayo ng pitong araw mula ngayon. Mula ngayon, pitong araw. Yan ang ikapitong araw ay sa October 24. Yun ang itinakdang tamang panahon.” (Count seven days from now. From today, 7 days. The seventh day from now is October 24. That is the assigned right time.) Everyone was so happy. YayaDUB jumped with joy with Donya Tinidora. Alden entered 2 rooms at the Broadway Centrum to share the celebration at ALDUB The Big Surprise.
Alden even went to the Eat Bulaga studio audience to jump around with the rest of the ALDUB Nation in jubilation. Some fans were hugging Alden in happiness too. After everyone had their fill of happiness. Donya Tinidora was quick to ask for specifics in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Boss Joey de Leon motioned the audience to sit down and listen to what Lola Nidora had to announce in detail.
Lola Nidora mentioned how she loosened up the previously applied restrictions. “Dahil may tiwala na ako sa kanila. Ang mga bagay na hinahadlangan ko. Sa tamang panahon, shut up na ako. Pero wag na wag lang nilang sisirain uli ito.” (Because I trust them enough now. The things that I prohibit them from doing. Upon the right time, I shut up. But they should never ruin it again.) No more 1 foot distance between Alden and YayaDUB as confirmed in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Donya Tinidora asked for further specifics. “Puede na silang sumayaw? Kumanta? Magsasalita na si Yaya?” (They may dance? Sing? Nanny can talk then?) Lola Nidora said they may in the right time. Allan K then asked “Puede na silang maghawak-kamay?” (They may hold hands?) Lola Nidora only repeated her answer to Allan K at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Donya Tinidora’s next question was then thrown. “Eh saan naman gagawin ito? Baka naman sa Broadway o kaya sa mansion?” (Where will this be held then? It might be at Broadway again or at the mansion?)
Lola Nidora sheepishly shared the venue where the right time is scheduled to occur. “Pinayagan ko na kasi dati si Alden na bumisita sa mansion noon. Pasensiya na kayo. Iimbitahan ko kayong lahat sa bungalow namin.” Boss Joey was skeptical upon hearing the word bungalow. “Eh ang dami nito eh!” (But they are so many.) To think that Lola Nidora invited the ALDUB Nation to celebrate with Alden and YayaDUB. Allan K agreed with Boss Joey. “Milyones ito, Lola.” (These are millions, granny.) Lola Nidora then reached for the key to finally open the blue folder.
Donya Tinidora tried to help her out in opening the blue folder. With Lola Nidora opening the folder, she made it official. “Magkita-kita po tayong lahat sa bungalow po namin sa Philippine Arena.” (See you at our bungalow at the Philippine Arena.) And so the big surprise referred to in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode was the 55,000-seat strong Philippine Arena. A big venue indeed for all inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation that wanted to celebrate with Alden and YayaDUB. Boss Joey himself was overjoyed that he repeated “Philippine Arena!” with full conviction. Everyone from YayaDUB to Donya Tinidora to Alden to the Eat Bulaga studio audience was dancing around.
The blue folder contained the Philippine Arena’s photo. Allan K had to ask Lola Nidora if this is for real. Boss Joey was amazed at Lola Nidora’s bungalow. Donya Tinidora then asked how will the inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation reach the venue. “Papaano sila makakadalo diyan?” (How will they get there?) As everyone awaited the details regarding ALDUB The Big Surprise seven days from now. Lola Nidora’s other projects were mentioned coinciding with the right time to finally allow the ALDUB couple to go free to love one another.
Lola Nidora explained some features that come with the ALDUB-related celebration at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. “Dito sa payak na bungalow natin. Isa pa itong pinagisipan ko ng mabuti, Tinidora. Ipinagdasal at ninais kong mag-iwan ng magandang alaala. Ang pagkakaisa ng ALDUB Nation.” (Here in our simple bungalow. I have another plan that I thought long and hard, Tinidora. I prayed for it. And I wanted to leave a good memory. The unity of ALDUB Nation.)
Lola Nidora thought of connecting this project with the Eat Bulaga Plastic ni Juan project. (She earlier mentioned it at the ALDUB Meets TVJ episode.) “Ang tamang panahon ay panahon ng bayanihan. Ang mga alaalang papakinabangan ng mga kabataan at ng maraming henerasyon. Gusto kong makakita ng maraming ALDUB libraries.” (The right time is the time for cooperation. Memories that the youth and future generations will find useful. I want to see many ALDUB libraries.) The details for the ALDUB Library Project are on the next pages of the blue folder at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
YayaDUB and Donya Tinidora helped in turning the page. Here, 3 of the beneficiary schools are photographed. Lola Nidora continued. “Gusto kong makakita ng maraming ALDUB libraries sa buong Pilipinas.” (I want to see many ALDUB libraries in the entire Philippines.) The October 24 event served as Lola Nidora’s own fund-raising project. “Hindi lang tayo magkakaisa at magsasama-sama para sa milyon-milyong tweets. Kundi pati na rin sa libo-libong bata na ating matutulungan. Yan ang tunay na pag-ibig. Pag-ibig sa kapwa.” (We will not only be united and gathered together for the millions of tweets. But also for the thousands of children that we end up helping. That is true love.)
Lola Nidora’s purpose in getting the ALDUB Nation involved is simple. “Sharing is caring. Sa bawat ticket na mabibili ninyo. Lahat yun. 100% ay para sa pagpapatayo ng mga ALDUB libraries sa buong Pilipinas.” (For every ticket your buy. All of it. 100% is for the construction of ALDUB libraries in the Philippines.) The ALDUB Nation present at the Broadway Centrum started chanting “Eat Bulaga! Eat Bulaga!” in support of Lola Nidora’s ALDUB Library Project at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Lola Nidora also took the opportunity to somewhat reply to everyone that blamed the ALDUB phenomenon for the alleged indifference to socially-relevant issues. “At yan ang patunay na hindi lang tayo kilig. Tayo ay may mabuting hangarin.” (And that is the proof that we are not all about being giddy. We have good intentions.) Eat Bulaga found ALDUB The Big Surprise episode as a platform to launch their educational advocacy.
Boss Joey de Leon then somewhat broke character from being a KalyeSerye commentator in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. To that of being a spokesperson for Eat Bulaga as a program. This is in consistency to his status as one of the founding fathers of Eat Bulaga along with the Sotto brothers. Senator Tito Sotto and Bossing Vic Sotto. It was a brief confirmation to what Lola Nidora has already revealed. “Isa po ito sa pinakamalaking kaganapan sa aming palatuntunan na Eat Bulaga sa loob ng mahigit tatlumpu’t anim na taon. Sa Tamang Panahon.” (This is one of the biggest events in our program Eat Bulaga after more than 36 years – In The Right Time.)
Allan K continued where Boss Joey left off. “Be part of ALDUB history. Get your tickets at Ticket World outlets.” As he went further with the details, the monitor displayed the details that Allan K read. Bossing Vic then announced that tickets are also sold right in Broadway Centrum itself at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. But only until 6pm for that day. In a few minutes though, the Ticket World website is already down. So the rest of the KalyeSerye commentators mentioned other outlets. Inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation may frequent the said outlets.
Allan K repeated what he said at the ALDUB Battle For A Cause episode. “Do not underestimate the power of the ALDUB Nation.” Alden wrote on his clipboard. “ALDUB Nation Unite!” Lola Nidora seconded Alden’s clipboard message by saying “ALDUB Nation Unite!” She then made the pabebe pinky swear combo with YayaDUB at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
As everyone was having fun, another SUV horn was heard from outside. Donya Tinidora was again aggressive. Lola Nidora was again paranoid. Later the camera panned over the same woman with long shiny hair. She was shown talking to a woman who looked like YayaDUB from behind. The YayaDUB doppelganger was then shown handing some wads of cash to the spying woman with the shiny hair. The spying woman left as soon as she received the cash in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Bossing Vic speculated that it might be a ticket sale transaction. Donya Tinidora was amused at the possibility of seeing scalpers this early. “May nagbebenta na. May scalper na agad dun ah!” (Someone’s selling. Scalpers are already there!) Later the YayaDUB doppelganger was shown. Donya Tinidora confirmed everyone’s suspicions. It’s Isadora making her presence felt in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Lola Nidora told YayaDUB to stay behind her and Donya Tinidora. Isadora made her entrance to the tune of Los del Rio’s “Macarena”. Donya Tinidora quickly prepared the chain in defense of YayaDUB and Lola Nidora. Boss Joey reminded the sisters to calm down as the one who arrived is their sister too. (Paolo Ballesteros’ neck tattoo was a dead give-away. Then again, he’s the King of Transformation. His neck tattoo at ALDUB The Big Surprise is just a minor clue to the actor playing Isadora.)
Isadora’s opening statement was simple if not content. “Tinidora, na-miss kita.” (Tinidora, I missed you.) Donya Tinidora nonchalantly replied. “Ganun din kami.” (Same with us.) YayaDUB was visibly scared that Isadora might snatch her away just like how Lola Nidora told her. Isadora was just actually waiting from the outside. “Kanina pa ko nasa labas. Inulan na ko doon.” (I’ve been outside since awhile ago. I got rained.) After realizing that Donya Tinidora is not that angry. Isadora approached her for a hug at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Donya Tinidora hugged Isadora back. “Parang hindi ka tumatanda ha?” (It seems like you don’t age.) Isadora found it easy to explain that sort-of ageless face. “Alam mo naman ako kasi wala akong problema. Hindi ako namomroblema.” (You know me since I don’t have problems. I am not problematic.) Isadora’s striking resemblance to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB was undeniable in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Still, YayaDUB found her intimidating.
Isadora made an indirect comment supporting her previous statement. “Isa lang naman ang laging may problema diyan eh. Kaya ako laging maganda.” (There is only one person out there always with the problem. That’s why I’m always beautiful) Isadora then DUBsmashed a line from the Jim Carrey starrer flick “Bruce Almighty”. Lola Nidora’s face was expressionless in contrast to YayaDUB’s perplexed face at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Isadora further declared her “territory” by DUBsmashing Nicki Minaj.
Donya Tinidora clearly saw the similarities. “Siyang-siya. Ikaw na ikaw talaga ang anak mo. Matagal na kayong hindi nagkikita. Pero walang nagbago sa atin. Magkakapatid pa rin tayo ha?” (Very much like her. You really look like your daughter. It’s been a long time since we last met. But nothing has changed between us. We’re still sisters.) Donya Tinidora then turned to Lola Nidora. Lola Nidora is stuck in stony silence. Senator Tito found Lola Nidora stern throughout Isadora’s arrival at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Isadora tried getting close to Lola Nidora. Lola Nidora stopped her midway though. Isadora tried to break the ice. But Lola Nidora was astute in her cold treatment to her prodigal sister. Isadora wondered about her first meeting with Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Hindi mo ba ko ipapakilala kay Divina?” (Aren’t you going to introduce to me to Divina?) Lola Nidora instead asked. “Bakit ka bumalik?” (Why did you come back?) Isadora tried to reply using a DUBsmash clip at ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Boss Joey repeated the question again to make Isadora answer properly. [Where can you see a TV series where the commentators are allowed to ask the very characters that they are watching ALDUB The Big Surprise episode?] In the midst of suppressed laughter. Isadora tried to compose herself “Hija, Divina, …” Before she could continue, Lola Nidora cut her off. “Isadora, nasabi ko na ang tamang panahon.” (Isadora, I already told her the right time.) Isadora then faced Lola Nidora in order to face Divina. “Ate, gusto kong makausap si Divina.” (Elder sister, I want to talk to Divina.)
Lola Nidora then turned to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Yaya, magmano ka at akapin mo ang lola mo.” (Nanny, pay your respects and embrace your grandmother.) It was a twist that the KalyeSerye commentators were stunned to hear in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. YayaDUB did as she was told. YayaDUB then cried. Isadora spoke while embracing Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Matagal ko na tong inantay, hija.” (I waited for so long for this moment, dear.)
Isadora let go of Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB to take a closer look at her grand-daughter. “Ang laki-laki mo na. Magkahulma pa yung mga mukha natin.” (You have grown so much. And we have the same facial features too.) Donya Tinidora cut them off. “Ang akala ko ikaw ang nanay ni Yaya.” (I thought you are nanny’s mother.) Isadora addressed the issue head on. “Isa yan sa mga nililihim ko na gusto kong linawin sa inyo. Pero natutuwa ako na dumating na ang tamang panahon.” (That is one of the secrets that I would like to clarify with you.) Isadora’s arrival sparked another surprise in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode.
Boss Joey asked Donya Tinidora for clarifications about the latest revelation in ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. Donya Tinidora is back at her role as the asking lady. This is understandable since Lola Nidora had too many secrets revealed by now. If Donya Tinidora and Donya Tidora themselves don’t know enough about Lola Nidora, what more for everyone else who’s not Isadora?
Isadora had to explain herself to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Matagal-tagal ko nang panahon na hinintay ito na makabalik dito sa Pilipinas. Humanap lamang ako ng tamang panahon para humarap sa yo. Masaya naman ako para sa yo. At naging masunurin ka sa yong mga lola. Kaya marami kang biyayang natatanggap.” (I’ve waited for so long for this moment to return to the Philippines. I only looked for the right time to face you. I am happy for you though. And you have been obedient to your grannies. That explains all the blessings you’re getting.)
Lola Nidora cut to the chase. “Bakit ka pa bumalik, Isadora?” (Why did you come back, Isadora?) “Ate, bumalik ako para-” (Elder sister, I returned to-) The truck horn honks to signal the end of ALDUB The Big Surprise episode. The KalyeSerye commentators are annoyed again. But not as much as when Senator Tito was throwing the chairs around the studio a few days ago.
