As the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode opened. Senator Tito Sotto warned against unscrupulous individuals out to capitalize on ALDUB’s popularity this coming elections. Some of the ALDUB fansigns got photoshopped bearing the names of certain political candidates. Senator Tito did not name anyone in particular though. Donya Tinidora on the other hand warned ALDUB (Alden and YayaDUB) about giving in to fansign requests though.
Donya Tidora could not comment on this for the meantime. She was preoccupied with calling either Lola Nidora or YayaDUB at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. Both sisters left behind were pacing around the block. Donya Tidora kept dialing on her phone. “Subscriber cannot be reached daw o. Kagabi ko pa huling nakausap si Yaya eh. Dapat sumama na tayo sa hospital ah.” (The prompt says ‘Subscriber cannot be reached’. The last time I talked to them was last night.)
Donya Tinidora didn’t think anything was wrong as of the ALDUB 20th Weeksary episode though. “Pumayat si ate. Yung tiyan hindi malaki.” (Elder sister lost weight. Her tummy is not that bulgy anymore.) It was a contrast to Donya Tidora’s observation. “Nakaplakda yung mukha. At saka laging inaantok.” (She fell face down. And previously she’s always sleepy.) Donya Tinidora saw for herself how bad the fall was. “Oo nga bagsak.” (Yes, face down.)
Donya Tinidora felt guilty in behalf of the sisters left behind at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. “Kasi naman eh. Wala tayong kwentang kapatid. Wala tayong ginawa kundi mag-party nang mag-party. Mareremata na yung bahay natin, sayaw pa tayo ng sayaw.” (The problem is. We’re useless sisters. We did nothing but party. Our home is about to be foreclosed, and we’re still dancing.) Brilliant commentary in ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode for certain rich families in denial of their economic downfall.
Donya Tidora knew how Lola Nidora tried to be strong for the family. “Kahit masama ang ugali nun, wala ngang kibo yun eh.” (Despite her bad character, she doesn’t say much.) Senator Tito dissuaded them from blaming each other. Donya Tinidora justified the somber mood. “Nagwo-worry lang po kami, Tito Sen.” (We are just worried.) The KalyeSerye commentary panel can’t help but ask though. “Pero anong lagay niya?” (But how is she?) Donya Tinidora can’t say either. “Yun nga po eh. Basta may nakita kaming kahon.” (That’s the point. Every time we see a box.)
Donya Tidora tried to dispel Donya Tinidora’s thoughts. “Kahon agad?” (A box this early?) Donya Tinidora thought of a different box. “Kasi yung mga damit.” (It’s for the clothes.) Any thoughts of buying watermelon seeds, biscuits and coffee were dispelled by either the sisters or the KalyeSerye commentary panel. Donya Tinidora wasn’t too sarcastic. But her quips were easily interpreted as sarcasm at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode.
Alden then appeared on the other monitor. He then asked if he may visit Lola Nidora. “Puede ko po bang madalaw si Lola? Nagaalala din po ako eh.” (May I visit granny? I am worried too.) The sisters didn’t think Lola Nidora would take long in the hospital. “Masamang damo yang si ate.” (Elder sister is a bad seed. [Takes forever to die.]) Both Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora were discouraging Alden to visit when an SUV horn was heard at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode.
It was YayaDUB arriving with Lola Nidora’s governess, Rihanna, to the tune of Gary Valenciano’s “Shout For Joy”. [Not very appropriate for the story. But an effort to push the idea of Rihanna talking like Gary V at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode.] Rihanna handed over the packed lunch to Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora. “Eto na po baon nyo. Pinadala ni Senyora Nidora.” (Here’s your packed lunch. Sent over by Señora Nidora.) [Maidservants would usually address their employers “Señor/Señora” in the Philippines when these employers come from families with Spanish blood.]
Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora felt guilty again at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. YayaDUB can’t stay long enough though. “Babalik din po kami sa hospital. May babayaran pa po kasi kami.” (We have to go back to the hospital. We have some bills to pay.) As of the ALDUB De Explorer Trials. YayaDUB has become the personal assistant. Paying bills, handling emails, jotting down the itinerary and the like.
Donya Tinidora had to ask before letting YayaDUB go. “Kumusta naman si Ate, hija? Sabihin mo kung ilang araw na lang ang itatagal niya.” (How is elder sister, dear? Please tell me how many more days will she live.) YayaDUB may be accustomed to Donya Tinidora’s sarcasm. But she found Donya Tinidora’s quip at the ALDUB De Explorer as a little too much. “Grabe naman po kayo. Check lang po namin yung blood test ni Lola. Pero okay na po siya.” (You’re a little harsh. We just have to check granny’s blood test. But overall, she’s okay now.)
Rihanna has a different way of knowing that Lola Nidora is stable as of the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. “Nagalit po sa kin kanina. So okay na po siya.” (She got angry at me awhile ago. So she’s clearly okay now.) YayaDUB reiterated that Lola Nidora is stable now. “Okay na po si Lola. Naghihintay lang po kami ng resulta.” (Granny is okay now. We’re just waiting for results.) Donya Tinidora insisted that Lola Nidora isn’t as stable as YayaDUB and Rihanna claimed.
Alden suggested a visit to Lola Nidora despite having Lola Nidora’s sisters discouraging him to go. “Dalhan ko siya ng pasalubong.” (I’d bring over some gifts.) YayaDUB didn’t find the need for them either. “Hindi, hindi, okay lang.” Alden then asked YayaDUB. “Ikaw, kumusta ka na?” (How about you?) YayaDUB replied in a way she knew best. Through DUBsmash. After the DUBsmash exchange at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials. Alden told her. “Sana doktor ka na lang ako.” (I wish that I’m a doctor.) When YayaDUB asked him why. Alden replied. “Para masabi ko lahat ng nararamdaman ko.” (So that I would tell you everything that I feel.)
YayaDUB then congratulated Alden for his latest award. PMPC Star Awards Best Actor for the historical TV series “Ilustrado”. “Uy congratulations nga pala.” Alden then reminded of the German Moreno Power Tandem Award that they received. “Congratulations sa atin! Power tandem.” Before YayaDUB gets too happy again, she bid her grand-aunts goodbye. Alden tried to catch up on her though, holding a surprise in his hand.
Donya Tinidora scolded Alden for his persistence. “Malabo yun. Umalis na yun tapos babalik?” (That’s a pretty slim chance [of calling her back]. She already left then she’d be back?) Alden chose to wait at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. “Basta hintayin ko na lang po siya, Lola.” (I would just wait for her, granny.) The KalyeSerye commentary panel is quite amused of Donya Tinidora’s menopausal hissy fits. Still she managed to accompany Donya Tidora to their Sugod Bahay errand.
Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora finished their Sugod Bahay errand before YayaDUB could return. Alden got a little impatient at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials. “Wala pa ba si Yaya? Ang tagal naman.” (Hasn’t nanny returned yet? It took her so long.) The grannies then asked what his special message is. But Alden shared Lola Nidora’s instructions too. “Usapan po namin ni Lola, kay Yaya sabihin.” (My agreement with Granny is that I directly tell nanny.)
Donya Tinidora got a little miffed again. “So wala kaming pakelam, ganun?” (So you’re saying it’s none of our business, isn’t it?) The KalyeSerye commentator tried to pacify Donya Tinidora though. “Cute yung surprise niya eh.” (But his surprise is cute.) Seems like losing Bill affected Donya Tinidora’s overall outlook in life.
A few moments later, Dok Dora De Explorer arrived at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora were happy to see her back. “Buti umuwi ka na. May sakit ang lola mo.” (Good to see you back. Your granny is sick.) Dok Dora actually knew. “Alam ko, ginugulo ako sa Twitter. Umuwi ako saglit para sorpresa ko kayo ni Lola at para bigyan ko kayo ng gamot.” (I know. Been getting pestered on Twitter. I came home shortly to surprise you grannies and to give you some medicine.)
Dok Dora gave some updates ever since she’s been gone. [Dok Dora was Wally Bayola’s alter ego in the latter version of the Eat Bulaga Segment “EB Problem Solving”.] She returned from Africa to the ALDUB De Explorer Trials but not with her nursing assistants. She recounted how her assistants found husbands in Africa. Boss Joey’s concern though was Dok Dora prescribing medicine from random leaves.
According to Dok Dora, the ingredients are in the Philippines. “Kaya ako umuwi, andito yung ingredients para sa gamot.” One of the first ingredients involved a snail that’s afraid of water. She needed everyone’s help in searching for this creature. Another ingredient involved the fresh urine of a snake done laying eggs. That’s when Donya Tinidora reacted against participating as of the ALDUB De Explorer Trials. “Ano yan? Siya mabubuhay, kami mamamatay?” (What gives? She lives and we die?)
The third ingredient that Dok Dora mentioned though was the easiest. “Bungisngis ng kalbong unggoy.” (Laughter from a balding monkey.) Donya Tinidora had to correct Dok Dora at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode though. “Alam mo, doktora, nagkakamali ka. Hindi yan kalbong unggoy, Nakakalbo pa lang.” (You know what, doc, you are wrong. That’s not a bald monkey. That’s just on its way to getting bald.)
Minutes after Dok Dora’s entrance. YayaDUB returned. She almost asked for Dok Dora’s respects if not for the grannies correcting her. “Pinsan mo yan!” (That’s your cousin!) Dok Dora then assured to YayaDUB at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode that Lola Nidora will be cured. “Lulutuin ko ang gamot tpos ipaiinom natin sa lola mo.” (I will cook the medicine then make your granny take it.) YayaDUB corrected her. “Lola natin.” (Our granny.)
The KalyeSerye commentary panel suddenly realized Alden’s gift. And so Alden greeted Dok Dora at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. “Hi Doktora.” Dok Dora happily replied. “Hi Alden?” YayaDUB happily reacted with the way Dok Dora replied. “Ay pabebe.” Alden then asked Dok Dora. “Napapanood mo ba kami sa Africa?” (Have you watched us in Africa?)
Dok Dora replied in detail. “Oo, ang sweet. Mga hantik pumapasok sa TV.” (Yes, you’re sweet. The fire ants flocked to the TV [in extreme sweetness].) Dok Dora wasted no time in asking Alden at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. “Kayo na ba?” (Are you now going steady?) Alden, albeit taken aback with the question, replied with another question. “Ang bilis naman. Kami agad?” (That’s so fast. Us, steady?)
Because Alden could not give a direct answer to Dok Dora, he immediately shifted to talking to YayaDUB. “Na-distract ako. Di ba sabi ko, hahanap ako ng pambalik?” (I was distracted [with the throwback photo that YayaDUB brought at the ALDUB 20th Weeksary episode]. Didn’t I say that I would find something to retaliate with?) He then showed the throwback picture that he found for the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode.
The KalyeSerye commentators through Allan K asked in what grade was she when the photo was taken. YayaDUB replied. “Grade 5.” Everyone present at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials found the photo funny. “Kuhang kuha expression.” (The expression was captured.) Donya Tinidora was amazed at how early YayaDUB has developed her facial habits. “Bata pa, nakanguso na.” (At a young age, she’s already pouty.) YayaDUB could only reply to Alden. “Loko-loko ka ha?” (You jester, huh?)
YayaDUB tried to verify if the photo she asked an autograph for is still in Alden’s possession. He confirmed it. Allan K then asked if he’d like to kiss YayaDUB’s throwback pic. Alden kissed it at the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. Alden then asked for an autograph from YayaDUB too with dedication for the throwback pic. YayaDUB agreed. “Gusto mo pa-laminate pa natin eh.” (We can even have that laminated.)
Alden then continued with his surprise for YayaDUB. “Nagpaalam ako kay Lola nung isang araw. Pinayagan niyang magpasyal tayo.” (I asked granny the other day. She allowed us to go out.) Donya Tidora reacted nonchalantly. “Mamamasyal kayo? Kayong dalawa lang?” (You’d go out? Just the two of you?) Donya Tinidora was understanding this time. “Ayos lang yun.” (That’s okay.)
As none of the present grannies could verify if Lola Nidora agreed to this. Dok Dora was consulted. Dok Dora could only comment on Alden’s health as of the ALDUB De Explorer Trials episode. “Parang masama ang boses niya eh.” (He doesn’t sound good.) Alden downplayed Dok Dora’s diagnosis, reiterating that he’s healthy enough to invite YayaDUB out.
Alden emphasized the urgency of the date he prepared. “Bukas na to. Di ko nga nasabi kahapon.” (This is for tomorrow. I wasn’t able to tell you yesterday.) Dok Dora was asked by Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora in Lola Nidora’s absent if she’s fine with it. Dok Dora can’t decide in behalf of Lola Nidora either. “Ewan ko. Kadarating ko lang.” (I don’t know. I just came here.) Before Alden could reveal the place where he will take YayaDUB, the truck horn honked off. The ALDUB De Explorer Trials ended on another cliffhanger.
YayaDUB managed to slip in a reaction to the photo at the epilogue. “Hoy, Alden! Patay ka sa kin!” (Alden! You’re dead meat!) Where would Alden take YayaDUB then? Tune in to Eat Bulaga.
