Donya Tinidora clearly knew what needs to be done to differentiate her talents from the SPOGIFY finalists. And this is through PKA’s talent search SFRANKIEFY. Named after their patron, YayaDUB’s ex-fiance Frankie Arenolli. [Click here to read why.]
Most of the PKA recruits have questionable appearances. Personality? Not sure if being compared to one of the members of [in]famous local boyband Hasht5 is what you may call personality. Then again it’s consistent with PKA’s subtext. And it was reiterated at the ALDUB Complicated episode. “Hindi sigurado. Subukan mo. Walang mawawala sa yo.” (Not sure. Try it. There is nothing to lose.) So as long as you have the guts and the talent, never mind the looks. Donya Tidora reiterated how singing would make the audience give these contestants a second look only to look away again.
The appearances also unleashed Donya Tinidora’s sarcasm again. “Pag mahal yung bag, agawin mo agad ha?” (If the bag is pricey, snatch it away quickly.) Their goal at the ALDUB Complicated episode is to establish a talent agency. But their recruits looked like thieves and robbers from gangster movies. Also, Donya Tinidora reminded them to be ready for Frankie. “Ang producer namin dito ay si Frankie. Kaya dapat pag-uwi nun, handa kayo.” (Our producer is Frankie. So once he returns, you’d be ready.)
The SFRANKIEFY is a subliminal approach to plugging the Grand Finals for Eat Bulaga’s SPOGIFY. As of the ALDUB Complicated episode, Donya Tinidora’s antihero approach to recruiting talents started on the wrong foot. But he’s optimistic. “Ang kailangan ay tibay ng loob at merong kapal ng mukha.” (You need guts and a thick face.) Bossing Vic tried to be neutral in his observations on this new batch of recruits. “Ano ‘to? Parang nahihiya.” (What gives? As if they’re embarrassed.) Donya Tinidora and Donya Tidora knew that once PKA gains full steam, one of their first clients is Bossing Vic Sotto’s company, M-Zet Productions.
The PKA recruits for the ALDUB Complicated episode were already briefed for the telecast. Donya Tinidora asked one of them of his dream role. He introduced himself as Ruben. He then mentioned how he’d like to be an action star. When Donya Tinidora asked him of his talent, he said. “Kakanta po.” (I will sing.) He didn’t bring his own mic though. Neither Donya Tidora nor Donya Tinidora would like to lend their mics. [One of the backstage crew handed them an extra mic.] How many days would the PKA talent search go if they don’t even have enough mics on hand?
The song Ruben sang was also the same song he sang at the ALDUB New Journey episode. James Ingram’s “Just Once”. This time, they had a minus one track playing in the background. So perhaps there’s hope in ALDUB Complicated episode. Also, Ruben can sing well. Way better than some of the SPOGIFY contestants, truth be told. That’s when Donya Tinidora’s game plan was solidified. “Clap your hands and close your eyes.”
Donya Tinidora is proud of the first performer. “Pan-TV kayo. Pang-radio kami. Mina-manage ito para sa radyo.” (You [SPOGIFY finalists] are for TV. We [SFRANKIEFY talents] are for radio. We’re managing them for radio.) Indeed the perfect face for radio. It led to a minor sing-off between the SPOGIFY finalists and the SFRANKIEFY recruits at the ALDUB Complicated episode. Too bad the contestants that followed Ruben aren’t as talented as him. Since Lola Nidora and YayaDUB hasn’t arrived yet, the ALDUB Complicated episode cut to a commercial break.
In between the commercial break and resuming to the ALDUB Complicated episode. Eat Bulaga showed an update of the beneficiaries of the fund-raising event entitled ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon. Several schools were showed finally getting their ALDUB Library buildings constructed.
The PKA talent search at the ALDUB Complicated episode resumed. Donya Tinidora and Donya Tidora encountered audio problems. Bossing Vic was scrutinizing the next talent when an SUV horn was heard on the background. It was Lola Nidora, YayaDUB and the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio. One of the Rogelio pushed the pedal on the pedicab. One Rogelio was behind hanging on. And YayaDUB hung on the side. Lola Nidora came out to complain about the noise.
Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB didn’t think the PKA talent search at the ALDUB Complicated episode was necessary. “Wag na po kayong maghanap, lola. Meron naman po tayong Rogelio eh.” (No need to look, granny. We already have Rogelio.) Donya Tinidora found Rogelio too big of a mouth to feed as a talent. “Lakas lumamon ni Rogelio.” (Rogelio ate too much.) Also, his singing repertoire is limited to Freddie Aguilar’s “Ipaglalaban Ko” (I Will Fight For You).
The ALDUB New Journey episode ended on a bad note. Lola Nidora got concerned and asked Divina. “Okay na ba kayo ni Alden?” (Are okay of Alden now?) Divina hasn’t patched things up with Alden. “Di pa po eh.” (Not yet.) The grannies then asked how does Jake look like. Divina compared Jake’s appearance with the SPOGIFY finalists. “Pogi po yun, matalino.” (He’s handsome, intelligent.) She liked Jake’s business-minded attitude. Donya Tinidora didn’t think of as good. “Delikado tayo diyan.” (This is awkward.)
Divina also liked how considerate Jake is. “Pag may bahay na tayo, baka puede na tayong pahatid.” (Once we got our own house, maybe he can drive us home.) Donya Tinidora tried changing the topic. “Naku! Si Alden kahapon, iba ang pakiramdam ha?” (Oh my! Yesterday, Alden felt strange.) Divina then appealed to Alden at the ALDUB Complicated episode. “Alden? Alden, wag ka nang magalit. Kaklase ko lang yun.” (Please don’t be upset. He’s just my classmate.) Sam YG was still trying to knock inside the CR. He locked himself there at the ALDUB New Journey episode.
Divina was still calling out to Alden when Donya Tinidora tried to resume the PKA talent search at the ALDUB Complicated episode. Divina turned around and saw Alden with his gifts. It was unexpected for him to show up in person. It was only Tuesday. Donya Tinidora then suspected if there’s a shortcut from the CR to their current barangay assignment. “May connecting flight ba? Teka. Baka may daan sa host room ‘to ha?” (Is there a connecting flight? Wait. This might have a path from the host room.) Alden brought flowers and a box of cake to them.
Divina then asked the obvious to Alden. “Hindi mo naman sinabing pupunta ka? Tatampo ka?” (You didn’t say that you’d come over. Are you upset?) Alden had a different reason for locking himself up at the CR. “Hindi ibig sabihin nun, nagtatampo na ko. Di ba puedeng nasira lang ang tiyan ko? Ipapakita ko on national TV?” (It doesn’t mean, that I am upset. Can it be simply because of an upset stomach? You want me show that on national TV?) He explained further at the ALDUB Complicated episode. “Gusto ko pong humabol. Kaso bumusina na.” (I’d like to catch up on you. But the horn already sounded off.)
Lola Nidora felt relieved. “Kala namin, Alden, lumayas ka na. Ito naman kasing si Tinidora, asyumera.” (We thought you have ran away. The problem with Tinidora is that she assumes too quickly.) Divina tried to know how Alden felt. “Hindi ka nagselos?” (Didn’t you get jealous?) Alden can’t lie to Divina at the ALDUB Complicated episode. “Nagselos. Siempre. Kung kausapin mo yung lalaking yun, parang special.” (I got jealous. Of course. You talk to that guy as if he’s special.)
Divina insisted that Jake is just a classmate. Alden then went asking Divina. “Binibigyan ka ba ng flowers? Binibigyan ka ba ng cake?” (Does he give you flowers? Does he give you cake?)Donya Tinidora even told Alden what Divina said about driving them home. It made Alden hesitate on telling Divina about the reason behind the sudden visit. But he sent out a message to Jake. “Kung nanonood ka ngayon, Jake. Abangan mo ako ha?” (If you are watching now, Jake. Watch out for me, alright?)
But Alden went on to tell her anyway. “Wag kang magagalit ha? Wala ako sa Thursday.” (Please don’t be angry. I won’t be around by Thursday.) Divina was shocked. But at least Alden had time to tell her he’s leaving for an out-of-town gig as early as the ALDUB Complicated episode. [An obvious solution to the negative reaction brought by Alden’s trip to Japan. He missed several episodes including the EB Dabarkads Pa More episode.]
Alden continued. “Kahit Tuesday pa lang makapag-usap tayo.” (I want us to talk as early as Tuesday.) Donya Tinidora asked Alden. “Puede buksan yung cake?” (May we open the cake now?) Food really had been hard to come by for the Kalye’s Angels. They were almost oblivious to the simmering awkwardness between Alden and Divina. Alden let them so he can talk to Divina in private at the ALDUB Complicated episode.
Alden invited Divina to a cart of street food to share with her. He really prepared the advanced weeksary celebration at the ALDUB Complicated episode. Divina then asked Alden. “Tusukin ko yung gusto ko ha?” (I’d poke what I want, okay?) Alden agreed. Divina did what she said. She poked Alden with the fishball stick. The Kalye’s Angels, on the other hand, ate the “chocolate mouse”. [Not everyone can say the cake’s name right, hihihi.] Soon even Bossing Vic is in the joke. He asked the next Sugod Bahay winner. “Hello? Andyan ba si Jake? Joke lang!” (Is Jake there? [Alden’s eyes go fierce.] Just kidding. [Alden’s face ends up copying Lola Nidora’s expression at the ALDUB Complicated episode upon saying ‘Joke lang’.])
After the Sugod-Bahay errand, the Kalye’s Angels found Alden and Divina having a heart-to-heart talk off the record. Alden let everyone hear a part of it though. “Lunes babalik ako.” (I’d be back by Monday.) Divina couldn’t believe it. “Lunes? Ang tagal nun, Alden!” (Monday? That’s a long time!) Alden justified his almost-week-long absence. “Mga ilang araw lang yun. Yung ngang ibang nagmamahalan …?” (It would only be a few days. Other lovers …)
Allan K can’t help but react upon hearing this. “Nagmamahalan na ba?” (Are you now lovers?) They still have difficulty answering the question “Kayo na ba? Ba’t di kayo makasagot?” (Are you an item now? How come you can’t answer?) It was a retort to Alden’s earlier statement that got cut off. “Kaya ka ba niyang mahal ….?” (Can he [Jake] love …. ?) So it’s still a case of “Are they or aren’t they?” hence the official hashtag of ALDUB Complicated.
Of course, Lola Nidora heard it when Allan K pointed it out. “Anong mahal?” (What love?) Alden backtracked. “Lola, joke lang.” (Granny, it’s just a joke.) It appeased Lola Nidora all over again at the ALDUB Complicated episode. Divina expressed her concern. “Baka makalimutan mo na ko ah? Kapag nandun ka na.” (You might forget me once you get there.) Alden made a promise to Divina though. “Hindi mangyayari yun. Gagawa ako ng paraang magkasama tayo.” (It won’t happen. I’d make a way for us to be together.)
With Lola Nidora’s sudden mood swings. Bossing Vic Sotto has suspected her mental health. “Si Lola, parang nagfi-flip na.” (Granny’s starting to lose it.) Alden made Divina promise one thing. “Basta wag mo akong kakalimutan.” (Just don’t forget me.) Divina found Alden so sweet. While the relationship is not yet official at the ALDUB Complicated episode. Alden has started saving up for their future.
Divina agreed on that future as she prepared for it too. “Tingnan mo naman ang mga regalo ko sa yo. Pitsel tapos pan.” (Look at my gifts for you. A pitcher and a frying pan.) Donya Tidora thought of what Divina’s next gift should be. “Susunod na iregalo mo, plantsa.” (Your next gift should be a flat iron.) Donya Tinidora and Lola Nidora just made requests to Alden. “Ikumusta mo rin ako sa mga dabarkads natin dun. Mag-iingat ka dun, Alden. Uwian mo ko ng bonsai cactus.” (Send my regard to our dabarkads there. Be safe. And take home a bonsai cactus for me.)
Later at the ALDUB Complicated episode. Lola Nidora’s phone rang. “Hello? Di ito si Divina. Yung Jake.” (This is not Divina. [Passes the phone to Divina.] That guy Jake.) Allan K can’t help but exclaim. “Respeto naman oh!” (Some damn respect please!) Bossing Vic felt a little miffed himself in behalf of Alden. Alden himself is on the brink of going beast mode. Divina talked to Jake over the phone with half her back turned to Alden.
Supposedly, they are just talking about schoolwork. Later, Alden overheard what Divina told Jake. “Pareho tayo ng taste sa music.” (We have the same taste in music.) Incidents like these are really ill-timed at the ALDUB Complicated episode. It made Alden worry more about leaving. He didn’t interrupt them. Divina then apologized. “Alden, sorry. Sa school yun.” (That’s for school.)
Alden didn’t snap. But he ended up saying “Wow” in Lola Nidora’s Babalu impression. “Wow, school!” Since Alden is set to leave, he made sure to leave her a message. “Maine, sana pagbalik ko, ako pa rin ha? Pero ako pa rin ba?” (I hope when I come back, it’s still me. But is it really still me?) Before she could answer Alden’s question, the truck horn honked off. Leaving the ALDUB Complicated episode to a cliffhanger.
Has boredom finally crept in the relationship? It’s the most underrated reason why some couples end up cheating. But can this analogy be applicable to a couple that has yet to admit the real score? Be careful what you wish for. That was what I told myself when I started getting bored with the weeksary specials. Perhaps because it has become routine. It made the weeksary episodes less special. What more for daily episodes? I have to admit that the ALDUB Complicated episode was a shot in the arm. ALDUB has started entering the touchy territory. How durable is the road to forever?
