You may have read or heard about ALDUB. But where is Manila? The crew that surrounded ALDUB throughout its 2015 run may not be limited to Manila. But most of their activities are concentrated in Manila. You may have seen some episodes where the parks of the city of Manila are featured on the background. But apart from being the heart of the Philippines almost literally, what else should the world know about Manila.
Where is Manila if the map of the Philippines would be used? When it is mentioned that it is almost literally at the heart of the Philippines, there is some truth to it. The mainland island, Luzon, has covered almost half of the archipelago. If the Philippines is a human body, you can spot the heart of the country. On whether it has something to do in helping the government decide in the past in declaring it as the Philippine national capital is not clear.
Tourists would usually ask where is Manila because going to the other tourist destinations in the Philippines would often be described by adding the distance between it and the city of Manila. For example, the beaches that you’d like to tour are located on the mainland and you would coming from outside the country. The starting point would usually be at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. (Disclaimer: Other tours start at the Clark International Airport. So check your travel itinerary in case it doesn’t include tourist hotspots in Manila itself.)
Business travelers on their way to the business districts of Makati or Ortigas would surely find their flights’ destination at Manila. Tourists that would prefer starting the trip in Manila first would then discover a city whose colonial past is now in ruins. What is left of the ruins have become an idyllic tourist attraction in itself. It partly explained why some tourists called Manila (or the Philippines, for that matter) as a Latin American city lost in Asia. Then again, where is Manila as they read from some Onion article if a cacophony of Latin American influences is mashed-up with baroque European architecture?
Manila is a beautiful kind of mixed bag. If you would like to be specific as to its location, it’s at 14° 35′ N, 121º 00 E. It is essential when you are interested in knowing where is Manila. Wikipedia referred to it as a “densely populated bayside city”. Then again, that is why most tourists would rather have Manila as their starting point when touring the Philippines. You may have heard about the world-famous sunset view by the bay. It’s an all-time classic. Keeps on bringing over the lovebirds for the ultimate romantic view.
