[Featured Image for ALDUB The Who Episode Recap taken from Eat Bulaga Official Facebook Page.] ALDUB The Who episode shows Donya Tidora and Lola Nidora in multi-colored dresses. At first they seem like they are donning the colors of the French flag. But there are more colors seen. Lola Nidora is back to dancing Dawin’s “Dessert”. The KalyeSerye commentary panel can’t identify if Lola Nidora is dancing or something’s fishy. “Yung totoo? Hip hop o nababahuan lang?” (Be honest. Is it hip hop or something stinks?)
Lola Nidora explained herself. “Siempre good health. Ayoko nang nabi-beast mode.” (Of course for good health. I don’t like going into beast mode.) It seems like her memory has sharpened in ALDUB The Who episode. Sharp enough to remind YayaDUB. “Ikaw, Yaya, di pa tayo tapos.” (You, nanny, we’re not done yet.) YayaDUB was quick to speak for herself. “Siempre, Lola, I’m a good girl.” Lola Nidora refused to believe her. “Good girl. Good girl. Kurutin kita diyan!” (I’d pinch you!)
YayaDUB then asked Lola Nidora about the mortgaged mansion. “Lola, pano pag nawala mansion? San tayo titira?” (Granny, what if we lose the mansion? Where will we live?) Lola Nidora’s pride got ahead of her. “Anong gusto mo? Magmakaawa ako? Hangga’t di nakikita ang singsing okay tayo.” (What do you want me to do? Beg? As long as the ring is not found, we’re okay.) Lola Nidora views the settlement involving the lost ring and the mortgaged mansion as favorable for her. She even expects a gain of Php1 million. That is if Donya Babah would rather pay for the ring.
Alden appeared trying to negotiate with Lola Nidora at ALDUB The Who episode. Lola Nidora is somewhat close to a stalemate. A mortgaged mansion. A lost ring. All that is left for her to do is wait. Alden didn’t let this stalemate stop him from DUBsmashing some tracks for YayaDUB. YayaDUB is worried though that the model would arrive. “Wala pa ba yung model?” (Hasn’t the model arrived?) Alden assured her. “Hindi darating yun.” (She won’t arrive.) YayaDUB is not appeased.
Lola Nidora’s family heirloom may be lost. But it’s a compromise she had to take to keep the mansion. “Wag mo nang hanapin ang singsing. Okay na ko para magbayad ang lola mo sa akin.” (Don’t look for the ring anymore. I am okay so that your granny would pay me.) This worried Alden greatly at ALDUB The Who episode. “Pano naman po kami ni Yaya, Lola?” (How about us of nanny, granny?) All Lola Nidora could tell him is “Good luck”.
Alden’s focus is on keeping his relationship with YayaDUB. “Konting time na lang po.” (Just a little more time.) Lola Nidora stuck to her cards. “Hindi ko uurungan ang lola mo. Yung lola mong hindi ko maintindihan itsura. Ano ba yang lola mo? Parang isinubsob sa espasol.” (I won’t back down from your granny. That granny whose appearance I don’t understand. What is it with your granny? Her face seemed rammed down on confectionery sugar.) Lola Nidora was badmouthing Donya Babah without realizing she’s at the other monitor. She was listening.
Donya Babah dared Lola Nidora to repeat everything she said. “May sinasabi ka, Lola Nidora?” (You were saying something, Granny Nidora?) Lola Nidora stayed put without repeating what she said. Cat got her tongue. Donya Babah didn’t go into beast mode. But she was visibly upset. “Sinasabi ko na nga ba’t di kita dapat pinagkatiwalaan. I am so so disappointed. I am very angry now. I want to call my attorney para makuha namin ang mansion.” (I knew that I should have never trusted you. I want to call my lawyer so that we can take the mansion.)
Lola Nidora was back to compromise mode and begged Donya Babah. “Sabi nung bday mo, bibigyan mo kami ng konting panahon. At saka yung singsing, pag di nahanap yun, wala na.” (You said on your birthday that you would give us a little more time. And the ring, if never found, it’s gone.) Apparently, Donya Babah didn’t feel like paying the Php1 million difference between the lost ring and the mansion. Donya Babah is not willing to compromise at ALDUB The Who episode.
Donya Babah unleashed her KGB – Kahon Gid ni Babah. It was a safety deposit box containing the rest of the jewels that she traded. She told Lola Nidora to take her pick. It’s clear. Donya Babah is not willing to pay Php1 million. Lola Nidora’s arrogance got the better of her. “Ayoko yang mga alahas mo! Ayoko yang mga singsing mo!” (I don’t want your jewels! I don’t want your ring!) Donya Babah found it funny that Lola Nidora had some gall left in her at ALDUB The Who episode. “Nakakatawa ka, Nidora. Alisin nyo ito. Ayaw mo to? Give me my mansion.” (You are funny, Nidora. Take this safe away. You don’t want this? Give me my mansion.)
Lola Nidora insisted what she thought was hers too. “Then give me my one million.” Donya Babah considered the lost income. She then scolded Alden in Russian. Alden translated his granny’s sermon to everyone listening. “Nagalit po sa akin. Napakairesponsable ko raw po.” (She got angry at me. She said that I’m irresponsible.) Donya Babah unleashes her next trump card. “I will introduce you to Cindy. That’s why I’m here.” The phone rang. It was Cindy. She just confirmed her arrival. YayaDUB is visibly worried and jealous at ALDUB The Who episode.
Refusing to get upstaged all over again. Lola Nidora asked YayaDUB for her feathers. “Yung mga feathers ko, yaya. Pinapaandar ako ng Lola Babah na yan.” (Fetch me my feathers, nanny. That Granny Babah is driving me nuts.) YayaDUB didn’t feel like going back. But she fetched the feathers anyway. She only returned to hand Lola Nidora her feathered mink coat. With YayaDUB walking away. Lola Nidora asked Donya Tidora to fan her at ALDUB The Who episode. Eventually she relented and removed the feathered mink coat. She accidentally got her wig removed again. “San ka nakakita ng head dress nilagyan ng sumbrero?” (Where do you see a head dress on top of a hat?)
After the Sugod Bahay errand, everyone started looking for YayaDUB. Lola Nidora herself didn’t know. YayaDUB is too mad to entertain questions. YayaDUB was later found up a ladder close to a tree keeping to herself. Bossing Vic Sotto commented. “Iba pala malungkot to. Umaakyat ng puno.” (So this is how she handles sadness. She climbs up a tree.) Boss Joey remembered something else at the sight of a ladder at ALDUB The Who episode. “Dapat Mambo No. 5. Hagdan eh.” (There should be Mambo No. 5. It’s a ladder.)
Alden comforted YayaDUB from where he stood in his den. “Wala pa naman si Cindy. Saka di ko naman magugustuhan yun.” (Cindy is not here yet. And I don’t think I would like her.) YayaDUB didn’t deny her concerns. “Kasi baka pagdating ni Cindy, magustuhan mo sya.” (You might like her once she arrives.) Alden insisted that he won’t. “Wag ka malungkot.” (Don’t be sad.) He made a little hand gesture at ALDUB The Who episode. YayaDUB immediately understood it. But she was cautious. “Alden, wag dito. Di sila na-orient.” (Alden, not here. They weren’t oriented.) It seemed like a code only the couple understood.
A car horn was heard outside. It was Cindy. Donya Babah going to the entrance to welcome her confirmed that it was Cindy. She was pretty, tall and quite a stunner alright. Beautiful enough to alarm YayaDUB. YayaDUB let her hair down at ALDUB The Who episode to make herself pretty. She needed to look presentable with competition close to Alden.
Donya Babah introduced the guest to the audience. “Cindy Kournikova. Culinary Arts major in Economics minor in Accountancy.” She mentioned practically all courses that Cindy took in college. It was a deliberate effort to make Cindy look far more educated than YayaDUB. She didn’t have a problem with YayaDUB being a nanny. But she didn’t think YayaDUB’s Culiinary Arts’ degree is enough for Alden. [Seriously, what issue does she have with a Culinary Arts degree? And what guarantee does she have that Cindy is a better choice? The Harvard education? Paging College of St. Benilde.]
Cindy knew a little Tagalog. She prepared for meeting Alden again. Alden was his polite self. So he told Donya Babah instead that the feeling is not mutual. “Lola, hindi kami bagay.” (Granny, we don’t look good together.) Donya Babah protested. “Hindi totoo yan, Alden. She’s very beautiful. Look at her face. Look at my face. It’s a tie. Twin kasuy.” (That’s not true, Alden.) Both of them had long pointed faces. A facial feature that Alden clearly did not inherit. So perhaps to have great-grandchildren with cashew-shaped long faces. Donya Babah paired his grand-son off to another person with a cashew-shaped long face. She took that opportunity at ALDUB The Who episode.
Donya Babah then egged Cindy to show what she’s made of. Lola Nidora refused to be upstaged through her grand-child as well. “Kaya rin ni Yaya yan.” (Nanny can do that too.) With YayaDUB’s hair down. Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora prepped her up. Donya Tidora reminded YayaDUB of the fashion lessons weeks ago. Lola Nidora carried a carton big enough to serve as fan. Cindy went with the airbrushed look. She strutted with a big electric fan blowing on her face. The shade fest between Donya Babah and Lola Nidora has extended to their wards at ALDUB The Who episode.
YayaDUB went to her broomstick routines as she strutted around their set. Cindy picked up the nearest mop to match YayaDUB’s broomstick routine at ALDUB The Who episode. Boss Joey had to mention the obvious. “Ano ba to? Labanan ng kalinisan?” (What’s this? Battle of cleanliness?) Lola Nidora cheered on YayaDUB. “Beauty with a purpose! Wag kang papatalo!” (Don’t let yourself be defeated!) Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora cheered on their grand-niece. “Ladies and gentlemen! Divina Ursula!”
Satisfied with her ward. Donya Babah turned her attention to Bossing Vic Sotto. “Hello muna Zer Zotto. Siopao ka ba?” (Hello, Mr. Sotto. Are you siopao?) Bossing Vic asked why. “Ezpezial ka za akin.” (You are special to me.) Then she turned her attention to Allan K. “Allan Ki, maganda ka pala sa malayo.” (Allan K, you look pretty from afar.) Allan K thanked her. Donya Babah continued. “Lumayo ka pa.” (Go further away from me.) Allan K’s face was stiff as a shot of frozen margarita at ALDUB The Who episode.
Cindy spoke very little Tagalog and very little English. She spoke in Russian at ALDUB The Who episode. YayaDUB was DUBsmashing her Russian lines. The KalyeSerye commentary panel was impressed with YayaDUB’s DUBsmashing skills. “Tindi ni Yaya. Pati Russian, dina-DUBsmash.” (Nanny is the bomb. She DUBsmashes even Russian lines.) Donya Babah translated it. “Cindy, gusto ka niyang pakasalan.” (Cindy wanted to marry you.)
Even by Alden’s standards, it was too quick. Alden protested. “Lola, ang tagal namin ni Yaya tapos ito nakilala ko lang, kasal na agad? Wow, Lola!” (Granny, I’ve been with nanny for so long and then I just met Cindy, and Cindy wants to marry me?) Hey! He just met you. And this is crazy. Cindy spoke again. Donya Babah translated it. “Halikan mo raw siya.” (She asks you to kiss her.) Now that is quick.
Donya Babah kept on helping Cindy to Alden. “She’s very very in love with you.” Alden appealed to Lola Nidora. “Lola, wala akong kinalaman dito.” (Granny, I have nothing to do with this.) Seems like it’s Alden’s turn to get stuck in an arranged marriage. Not that Alden is dismissing Cindy off for not being pretty enough. But he really pined for YayaDUB. Alden appealed for her understanding too. “Promise. Hindi ako titingin sa iba. Pinky swear. Ganito na lang.” (I will never look at another.) He then prodded to kiss YayaDUB at ALDUB The Who episode.
YayaDUB was defiant. “Alden, ayoko, wag mo kong pilitin. Nasan ang walis?” (Alden, no, don’t force me. Where’s the broomstick?) Later, it became obvious that Cindy did her homework. She was DUBsmashing too. So she’s trying to steal Alden away from YayaDUB by resorting to DUBsmash too? Sounds like a call of desperation. It miffed Alden even more at ALDUB The Who episode. She had time to learn DUBsmashing skills but didn’t find time to learn Tagalog or English?
YayaDUB pulled some DUBsmash tracks that are unique to her. She even DUBsmashed a track she hasn’t done before. Demi Lovato’s “Heart Attack”. It was more of a condition of her heart than an attempt to upstage Cindy in the DUBsmash battle. Lola Nidora tried to play dirty though. “Lagyan mo nga ng ground yung microphone niya.” (Get her grounded through her microphone.) It didn’t happen at ALDUB The Who episode. Cindy even managed to sing a “Warsian” (Waray and Russian) folk song.
YayaDUB knew how to handle this battle. Cindy can’t even DUBsmash or sing in Tagalog. YayaDUB can do both. When she sang live, she chose to sing Jessa Zaragosa’s “Bakit Pa”, complete with Jessa’s vocal innuendos. Later she was singing Jaya’s “Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig?” She knew how to throw her competition out of the water at ALDUB The Who episode. Donya Babah took over after YayaDUB sang Jaya’s track.
Donya Babah ordered Alden to go out with Cindy. “I want you to go on a date with Cindy.” Alden refused. Lola Nidora was also pressured by the KalyeSerye commentator panel to bring out “Bogart”. Lola Nidora admitted that she only panicked at ALDUB The Who episode. “Nag-panic lang kami.” (We only panicked.) Lola Nidora’s mother hen instincts kicked in to appease YayaDUB. “Magdadasal na lang kami. Mamamasyal.” (We will pray instead. And travel.)
Donya Babah bragged that they will go out too. “Kami ang mamamasyal.” (We will go out.) Lola Nidora sowed some intrigue into YayaDUB’s thoughts at ALDUB The Who episode. “Bata pa si Yaya. Kaya pala nawala ang singsing. Senyales pala ito.” (Nanny is still young. No wonder the ring got lost. It’s a sign.) Donya Babah somewhat agreed. “It’s a very very good sign. Cindy will be a very very good girlfriend to you. And wife to you. The right time has come.” The truck horn honked off to end ALDUB The Who episode on an interesting cliffhanger.
Truth be told? Cindy is pretty. But she doesn’t come across as smart enough. She looked too much like a pawn for Donya Babah to control Alden. YayaDUB may be a nanny to Lola Nidora. But for a nanny, she’s pretty headstrong. To the point of stubborn. Makes you think that Lola Nidora was right in disciplining her. How long will Cindy be a pawn for Donya Babah? And how long until Alden escapes this sketchy situation that he got himself into? Tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime. Acting-wise, Eat Bulaga played it safe in casting Cindy. They went for an unknown bit player rather than Louise delos Reyes, Bea Binene or Julie Ann San Jose. Everyone still remembers the hatred that Mark McMahon harbored online simply because he played the role of Dr. Tan-ning. Casting someone unknown would mean easier damage control. But for how long? We will see in future episode recaps. As long as you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you’d get to read our episode recaps the moment they get published. It would be worth the wait.
