The ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode opens with Donya Tinidora back to her old dancey self. Except that she’s dancing this time around to Santana’s “Smooth”. Her skirt’s hem is tied again on the side to create that “mini-skirt” look. The first thought that came to KalyeSerye commentator Boss Joey de Leon was a raid. Must be the guitar riffs. Donya Tidora arrived a little later to share the happiness with Donya Tinidora. With Donya Bebeng now gone, they can go back to their wild selves.
Donya Tidora admitted to liking Donya Tinidora’s new dance. Donya Tinidora answered in a way she can do best – sarcasm. “Ang title ng kanta ko ay ‘Smooth’ kasi ang mukha ko ay rough.” (My track’s title is “Smooth” because my face is rough.) The sisters has served as the default episode recappers just like in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. While the strictness pushed them to tone down themselves. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora are happy to see their Donya Bebeng again.
Lola Nidora arrived shortly at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode in a foul mood. Her DUBsmash of Michael Buffer’s “Let’s get ready to rumble” was an indicator of her foul mood. She was talking on the phone scolding her poor governess, Rihanna. She has complained about her governess’ inefficiency before. But of course. She needed an outlet for her stress. She even threatened to cut communication lines with Harry. “Puputulan ko na yang internet mo. Hindi. Hindi mo na siya makakusap.” (I would cut off your internet access. No. You can never talk to him again.)
She even compared Rihanna’s internet addiction to that of YayaDUB. She said that the Gaya Gaya Pa More practice sessions has affected her nanny duties again to her. “Pareho kayo ni Yaya. Dahil sa Gaya Gaya Pa More, hindi na siya makausap. Sumosobra na yan.” (You and nanny are the same. Beause of Gaya Gaya Pa More, I can’t talk to her anymore. She’s getting too much.) After all of the revelations, Lola Nidora retained YayaDUB’s status in the household of nanny? Can’t she afford hiring another nanny to do the job? Oops! That might mean another character. Also, the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio seemed to be improving in terms of alertness.
Lola Nidora also looked different here. Her outfit is similar to that of Donya Bebeng’s outfit at the ALDUB 16th Weeksary episode. She only added a hat and big diamond earrings implying an effort to be different from that of her sisters. It broke the triplets look for the Kalye’s Angels for the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode.
As Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora tried to greet her. Lola Nidora told them to stay away from her in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Hanggang diyan na lang kayo.” (Stay right there.) Donya Tinidora feigned innocence. “Inaano ka ba? ‘Yang hitsura mo. Nagmamaanta ka na naman.” (What have we done to you? Your appearance. You look bitter again.) Lola Nidora played along to Donya Tinidora’s game of sarcasm. “Wala. Wala naman kasing nangyari kahapon. Masaya kayo.” (Nothing. Nothing happened yesterday. You’re happy.)
Donya Tinidora maintained her innocence. “Ano ba yun? Ano bang gumugulo sa yo?” (What is it? What’s bothering you?) Lola Nidora DUBsmashed what she found hard to express. “Don’t talk to me. Loser hater wannabe like oh. Totally.” Donya Tidora tried to interpret Lola Nidora’s DUBsmash as her being upset. She is not that good at feigning innocence though in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Alin ba yun? Yung napagalitan ka ni Tia Bebeng?” (Which part? That part where you got scolded by Aunt Bebeng?)
Lola Nidora is still sarcastic. “Wala yun. Maliit na bagay yun.” (It’s nothing. Just a little thing.) Donya Tinidora went back to feigning innocence. “Eh wala naman pala yun. Ba’t nagkakaganyan ka?” (So it’s nothing to you after all. What’s all this fuss?) Donya Tidora refused to believe that it’s nothing either. “Imposible namang wala kasi beast mode ka na naman. Tingnan mo nga yang suot mo.” (It’s impossible that it’s nothing. Look at your outfit.) Lola Nidora egged them on. “Gusto nyo talagang malaman?” (You really wanted to know?)
Lola Nidora tried to give her sisters what they wanted. She even spoke a little Spanish to establish her aristocracy over her “commoner” sisters. “Selencio! Hindi nyo ba alam? Nilaglag nyo ako ng todo todo kay Tia Bebeng!” (Silence! Don’t you know? You totally threw me under the bus in Aunt Bebeng’s presence!) She’s upset at them for throwing her under the bus. So upset that she chose to dress like their visiting aunt instead of something similar to that of her sisters.
Lola Nidora did not hold back this time in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Kunwari hindi nyo kilala si Alden! Kunwari wala kayong alam Sa Tamang Panahon! Eh simula’t sapul, kayo itong botong-boto kay Alden! Tapos dumating lang ang Tia Bebeng! Nakalimutan nyo nang lahat ang nangyari! Ako ‘tong masama! Wow!” (You pretended that you don’t know Alden! You pretended that you don’t know The Right Time! From the very beginning, you approved of Alden! Then Aunt Bebeng arrived! You forgot everything that happened! I ended up looking like the bad person! Wow!)
The KalyeSerye commentators were slightly reminded of Lola Nidora’s look in the early days of the series. The big hats. The wig change. Basically everything that made Lola Nidora look like the snobbish aristocrat. And she brought back this look at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode.
Lola Nidora confirmed the KalyeSerye commentators suspicion. “Pues. Ayaw nyo ng maluwag tayo! Ayaw nyo ng okay tayo! Magsisimula tayo sa simula!” (Well then. You don’t want us to be lenient! You don’t want us to be okay! We will start from the beginning!) Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora didn’t like what they heard. It pushed them to apologize to their elder sister in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode.
Donya Tinidora tried to explain. “Naunahan kasi kami ng takot ni Tia Bebeng. Alam mo naman ikaw lang ang nakakaharap kay Tia Bebeng di ba? Mula’t sapul. Kapag pinagagalitan kami, ikaw ang humaharap. Kasi ikaw ang ate namin. You’re the panganay.” (We were overpowered with fear of Aunt Bebeng. You know that only you can face Aunt Bebeng, right? From the very beginning. Whenever we get scolded, you face her. Because you are our elder sister. Because you are the eldest.) Donya Tidora tried to pacify Lola Nidora too albeir she can’t even touch her at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Wag ka nang mainis, ate.” (Stop the irritation, elder sister.)
Lola Nidora stood her ground at ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Di bale nang pangit basta walang kinikilingan.” (Never mind that I’m ugly as long as I’m taking no sides.) She later had some chest pains. It prompted her sisters to look for Lola Nidora’s medication. She shrugged off her sisters’ concern and called for one of the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio instead. She refused the chewables and went for the nebulizer instead.
Donya Tinidora asked what the nebulizer is for. Lola Nidora simply replied at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Para di lamukin ang bibig ko.” (So no mosquitoes go to my mouth.) Donya Tidora tried to pacify Lola Nidora further. She reminded her that Alden and YayaDUB joinng Gaya Gaya Pa More is now cool with Donya Bebeng. Lola Nidora went against this assumption though. “Kayo lang! Pero halos maihi ako sa nerbyos sa takot kay Tia Bebeng!” (Just you! But I almost peed myself nervous in fear of Aunt Bebeng!)
Donya Tidora pushed for peace with Lola Nidora. “Bati na tayo. Sige na.” (Let’s kiss-and-makeup please. Please.) Lola Nidora downplayed her sisters’ fear of her. “Okay naman tayo dahil mga kapatid ko kayo. Pero lahat ng mga mangyayari at lahat ng mga palakad sa mansion, pati dito, ako ang masusunod. Ayaw ko ngayon ng mga pabebe!” (We are okay because you are my sisters. But all of the situations and all of the ground rules at the mansion and here, I will make the decision. I don’t want cute-acting stuff.)
Lola Nidora and her sisters clarified Alden and YayaDUB’s participation at the Gaya Gaya Pa More. It’s a special participation, not competitive. Lola Nidora changed her mind about the participation though as early as in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Eh pano kundi sila kasali?” (What if they are not joining?) When her sisters reacted against it. Lola Nidora suspected them of having a cut. “May porsyento ba kayo sa TF?” (Do you have a percentage in their talent fee?) Donya Tinidora hoped so.
Donya Tinidora pointed out the time and effort that Alden and YayaDUB has poured out so far. Lola Nidora is open to changing her mind again at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. Donya Tinidora is starting to think that her medication includes antipsychotics and antidepressants with the kind of behavior she exhibited. “Lagi ka na lang ganyan, ate. Kung kelan malapit na ang araw, nagbabago ang isip mo. Adik ka ba?” (You’re always like that, elder sister. Just when the day is near, your mind changes. Are you high?)
Lola Nidora ignored Donya Tinidora’s suspicion at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. She looked for Alden and YayaDUB instead. Alden first appeared in full Elvis gear. Donya Tidora exclaimed. “Eddie Gutierrez!” Donya Tinidora tried to correct her. “Hindi! Eddie Peregrina yan!” (No! That’s Eddie Peregrina!) Alden DUBsmashed “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Jail House Rock”. But it’s not yet sure if this is his final decision. It’s part of the preparations as early as the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode though.
Alden then greeted the grannies in his best Elvis voice impersonation ever. Lola Nidora tried guessing Alden’s outfit. “Sino yan? Willy Garte?” (Who’s that? Willy Garte?) Alden politely replied. “Elvis Presley po.” (It’s Elvis Presley.) It did little to pacify Lola Nidora. “Kulang sa patilya.” (Not enough sideburns.) Later it was YayaDUB who showed up DUBsmashing the artist that she was impersonating. Donya Tinidora tried guessing it in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Lorna Tolentino!”
YayaDUB DUBsmashed “Material Girl” and “Crazy for You”. It gave the KalyeSerye commentators an idea to who was she impersonating. It’s Madonna. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora liked it. Lola Nidora wasn’t satisfied. “Anong magaling diyan? Dapat yung gayahin mo yung international. Hindi si Mystica!” (What good is found there? You should impersonate someone international. Not Mystica!) Donya Tinidora corrected her. “Hindi si Mystica yan! Hindi naman nag-split eh.” (That’s not Mystica! She didn’t perform a split.) [Mystica was a recording artist notorious for her splitting antics all throughout her live performances.]
Boss Joey de Leon interpreted these skits at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode as sample performances from Alden and YayaDUB. He suggested Barbie and Ken though. YayaDUB’s slim waist was evident in her 80’s Madonna look. The most hilarious suggestion came from Donya Tidora – Ernie and Bert. Boss Joey’s suggestion beat that – Tuko and Tuka.
Lola Nidora was true to her fairness quip awhile ago. “In fairness, gusto ko yang mga ginaya ninyo. Mga icon yan. At maraming humahanga diyan kasi talented ang mga yan.” (I like the people you are impersonating. They’re icons. And many people admire them for being really talented.) Donya Tidora started channeling Kris Aquino in her extreme happiness. She even called Donya Tinidora “Tito Boy”. “Tito Boy” was Boy Abunda, Kris Aquino’s co-host in the eponymous talk show “Aquino and Abunda Tonight”. Kris and Boy then came up as suggestions too. That made sense as Maine Mendoza’s reign in DUBsmash is attributed to her magnificent impersonations of Kris Aquino.
YayaDUB immediately asked her granny. “Lola, payagan nyo na ko.” (Granny, please allow me.) Lola Nidora replied with another question instead at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Sino ba talaga ang gagayahin nyo bukas?” (Who will you be impersonating tomorrow?) YayaDUB has to come clean. “Nagiisip pa po kami ng gagayahin.” (We are still thinking of someone to impersonate.) Lola Nidora’s solution is simple to YayaDUB’s indecisivenss.“Nagiisip ka pa pala eh. Di wag na tayo sumali.” (So you’re still thinking about it. Let’s not join anymore.) Alden answered too to help YayaDUB. “Nagpaplano pa po, Lola.” (We’re still planning, granny.)
YayaDUB had a suggestion for Alden at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Sige. Pag-usapan na lang natin mamaya.” (Okay. Let’s discuss it later.) Alden and YayaDUB were whispering to each other suggestions. Lola Nidora did not appreciate the ssly techniques. “Para-paraan para gusto nyong mag-usap. Hanggang ngayon wala pa kayong maisip. Ano na bukas?” (You find ways to talk. Until now you haven’t thought of anything. What day is it tomorrow?)
Lola Nidora quickly interrupted YayaDUB when she said that it’s okay to have last minute preparations. “Hindi okay. Hindi pa kayo handa. So parang naisip ko, wag na lang kayong isali.” (It’s not okay. You’re not prepared. So I thought not to have you join.) Classic parental reasoning. Pull out the performance at the last minute after finding out her children are not prepared in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. Alden and YayaDUB were against this. But it was Alden who was calmer. Lola Nidora could not move on from yesterday’s embarrassment. “Baka naman mamaya pag pumayag ako tapos ako na naman ang mali. Ako na naman ang ilalaglag nyo.” (It might happen that if I allowed you I end up looking wrong again. I would get thrown under the bus again.)
YayaDUB insisted. “Lola, sige na. Payagan nyo na po kami. Pinayagan na nga po kami ni Tia Bebeng eh” (Granny, please. Allow us. Aunt Bebeng has already allowed us.) Lola Nidora did not like the high voice that YayaDUB used in reasoning at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Tinataasan mo ba ako ng boses?” (Are you raising your voice at me?) YayaDUB denied it. Alden could only watch from where he stood at Broadway Centrum. Lola Nidora continued. “No! Wag mo akong pagtaasan ng boses at pagdabugan, Yaya.” (No! Don’t raise your voice at me, nanny.) So Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB is still a nanny. Poor thing.
YayaDUB immediately apologized for the inadvertently raised voice at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. Lola Nidora blamed YayaDUB’s rudeness to her sisters instead. “Kasalanan nyo yang maglola.” (It’s your fault as grannies.) Donya Tinidora reacted again. “Oh kami na naman?” (Why us again?) Lola Nidora pinned the blame further on her sisters. “Naii-spoil sa inyo ang bata. Nasanay na pinagbibigyan nyo. Kinukunsinti ninyong dalawa! Tingnan nyo to!” (You are spoiling the kid. She got used to your leniency. You are consenting to her whims! Look at her!) YayaDUB went on apologizing to Lola Nidora. “Lola, sori na po. Kasi sayang naman po eh. Maghahanda po kami.” (Granny, I’m sorry. It would go to waste if we didn’t go. We will prepare.)
Even if Alden dedicated the performance to the dabarkads (Eat Bulaga fanbase). Lola Nidora said no. She sounded so much like the “No” DUBsmash clip even when live. Lola Nidora asked for additional time to think from the KalyeSerye commentators present. For the meantime, they went on their Sugod Bahay errand. YayaDUB told Alden while they waited for the next Sugod Bahay winner. “Alden, okay lang kahit sinong gayahin natin ha? Basta partner tayo.” (Alden, it would be okay whoever we imitate okay? As long as we’re partners.) Alden agreed. “Oo naman. Siempre. Basta ikaw. Di ba team tayo? Promise?” (Of course, Always. Just for you. Aren’t we a team? Promise?) YayaDUB answered. “Promise.” With this. Alden and YayaDUB made another pinky swear.
Alden then asked YayaDUB at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Kanta ka ba ni Madonna?” (Are you Madonna’s song?) YayaDUB asked why. Alden replied. “Because I’m crazy for you.” YayaDUB has her own pickup line too. “Alden, alam mo yung COMMUTE?” (Alden, do you know what is COMMUTE?) Alden tried to answer as briefly as possible. “Yung sasakay ka sa sasakyan tapos-” (You hop into a public utility vehicle then-) YayaDUB interrupted him in time. “Hindi yun yon. Ikaw yun eh. Dati CUTE ka lang. Ngayon lalo kang COMMUTE.” (Not that. I’m referring to you. You used to be just CUTE. Now you’ve went COMMUTE.) [It’s a loose term for CUTER.]
After the Sugod Bahay errand. YayaDUB begged for help from Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora. Donya Tinidora assured her. “Kami ang bahala.” (We’ll handle it.) Later Lola Nidora was shown back at their spot while talking to Rihanna. She usually leaves their spot every time it’s time for Sugod Bahay. Alden and YayaDUB then found time to exchange DUBsmash tracks again at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. Some fans were genuinely concerned once Alden tried DUBsmashing Elvis’ cover of “My Way”. It was allegedly the most dangerous song in the world. Donya Tinidora then warned Alden of this. “Ingat ka.” (Careful.) She made a few gunshot sounds.
Lola Nidora finished her phone call and stopped the lovebirds. “Tama na yan.” (Enough of that.) Donya Tinidora went back to apologizing to her sister. Alden went back to begging Lola Nidora at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. Donya Tinidora justified the leniency towards the young couple. “Hindi mo kami masisisi. Sa dami ba naman ng pinauso mong hadlang. Ang dami mo nang ginawa. Sige na. Payagan mo na yung mga bata.” (You can’t blame us. Of all the obstacles you popularized. You have done so much. Come on. Allow the kids.)
Lola Nidora’s sharp ear prevailed instead of her soft emotions at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Pero kaninang malayo ako, naririnig ko. ‘Ah kaming bahala.’ Kung anu-ano pa ang sinasabi nyo sa akin.” (But when I was far, I could hear ‘Oh we’ll handle it’ and other stuff about me.) Donya Tinidora kept on defending YayaDUB. “Kasi nga natatakot yung bata. Kaya kami na ang nagpapaalam.” (Because the kid is scared. So we intervene for her.) Lola Nidora interpreted this as back-stabbing. “Wag tayong ganun. Sabihin nyo sa ‘kin sa harap ko. Nagagaya kayo sa iba na parang kuda nang kuda patalikod.” (Don’t do that. Tell it to my face. You end up becoming like the others who kept on talking behind me.)
Lola Nidora may have been talking about some tabloid reporters at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. She vented further. “Alam mo ang ibig sabihin nyan – yang kuda nang kuda – ay isa siyang halimbawa ng kaduwagan. Sabihin nyo yan nang paharap. Malay nyo makatulong pa yan na magbago ang ugali.” (You know what that means. It’s a sign of cowardice. Say it upfront. You may never know how it can even improve attitude.)
Lola Nidora thought about it too. She continued in the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Kagabi napag-isipan ko na rin ito. Para naman sumaya na si Yaya. Kasi nung nakaraan, malungkot siya. Na-hack ang kanyang mga accounts. Kung anu-ano kasing phone ang ginagamit. Dapat OPLUS lang. Pinagiisipan ko kagabi kung sino ang gagayahin nyo. Gusto ko yung siguradong mage-enjoy ang lahat ng dabarkads. Gagawin nyong special performance yan ha? At saka dapat, magkakapares talaga ang gagayahin ninyo. Ayoko yung mauuna si Yaya. Mauuna si Alden. Ayoko! Gusto ko yung kayong dalawa talaga.” (Last night, I thought about it too. So that nanny will be happy. Days ago, she was sad. Her accounts got hacked. That’s the problem with using just any phone. It should be OPLUS. I thought about it last night. I want it that everyone enjoys. Make it a special performance okay? And it should be a pair, you should impersonate a pair. I don’t want nanny going ahead of Alden. I don’t want Alden going ahead of nanny. I want it to be a harmony.)
Lola Nidora based her decision on Boss Joey’s thoughts. Her choices were as follows. A) Barbie and Ken. B) Guy and Pip [Guy and Pip were the nicknames of a celebrity love team composed of Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon] C) Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber [Oh please!] D) None of the above. Lola Nidora explained letter D at the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode. “Ibig sabihin hindi ko sila pinapayagan.” (It means I don’t allow them.) So that last part is where Lola Nidora’s power-tripping tendencies are back. [I wrote them here to prove that I am not a backstabber. HA!] Lola Nidora laughed in satisfaction of the last option.
Donya Tinidora held to some bottle. “Ate, papayag ka ba o ano?” (Elder sister, are you going to allow them or what?) Donya Tidora restrained her. “Ate namin yan.” (She’s our elder sister.) Lola Nidora gave them choices. But she obviously waited for the truck horn to honk. And so the ALDUB Prepare Pa More episode was left on another cliffhanger. And so another inconsistency was seen here. She scolded Alden and YayaDUB for not preparing enough only to give choices at the end. Another set of mind games to elevate her back into power-tripping villain status.
Lola Nidora is reclaiming control over the grand-niece that she demoted to nanny status. Her reasons be damned! Divina is still a grand-niece despite being the adopted sister’s grand-daughter. That’s not charity. That’s an opportunity for unpaid labor. Whatever scheme Lola Nidora is up to again, all that is left for us to do is tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime. Everyone feels emotional here again. And it’s starting to feel like some soaps. The main villainess can’t help but resort back to her old whims. Old habits dies hard especially when you used to be in control of everything. This is why some tropes get repetitive. Then again, unless there is no such feedback like articles posted at The Philippines Web. The KalyeSerye department will not realize which areas needed more improvement.
