#AlDub1stMonthsary On the first ALDUB monthsary, YayaDUB was barraged with the Attack of the Alden Clones. If you have gone this far in the first ever KalyeSerye. You know how subtlety is not the hit KalyeSerye’s forte. Also the staunchest AlDub fans have been itching for Alden Richards and YayaDUB to finally meet. If only Lola Nidora is not that much of an annoying roadblock.
From Lola Nidora making her fingers look like a devil’s horns to remind the audience that she’s the villain. To Frankie’s clothes that scream BRANDED. Even Frankie’s father Don Franing’s polo barong has the stamp Gucci all over the place. And now, all that YayaDUB could think of is Alden. She basically sees him all over the place. Especially at that time since it’s the first ALDUB monthsary.
That segment with the Alden clones seemed like some random segment thrown in just to excite the ALDUB nation. But it worked. It made the audience guess if Alden can manage to find a loophole in the security to be where YayaDUB is. But nobody’s complaining. A swarm of men in Alden masks would help keep the hope alive in YayaDUB’s consciousness. But why the need for masks? Why not the real deal on the ALDUB monthsary?
Each of the Alden clones then approached YayaDUB with a stem of red rose. Celebrating the ALDUB monthsary meant reliving the first time Alden sent a bouquet of flowers to YayaDUB. On the other hand, YayaDUB’s skepticism took over. As much as she loved Alden with all of her heart. She still needs to see his face. So for every man that gave her a flower, she took off his mask. They were several of them. The audience almost thought that it consisted of the finalists of Eat Bulaga’s That’s My Bae taking their spotlight while Alden was away. But no. Each man unmasked and no Alden Richards in the flesh.
The disappointment was evident in YayaDUB’s very expressive face. Lola Nidora could heave a sigh of relief. For now. Just when YayaDUB and Lola Nidora thought the Alden clones are gone. One left behind went straight to Lola Nidora herself. He gave her a bouquet of flowers with red roses in them. It made Lola Nidora temporarily forget the ALDUB monthsary. She even stuck out her tongue as if she’s back in “pabebe girl” mode.
From a brightly lit empty room, Alden emerges from the corner and does his own “pabebe wave”. YayaDUB was so happy that Alden appeared on the ALDUB monthsary. He has a red rose too. When the ALDUB fans viewed this tandem as magical, magical things did happen. Alden tried to hand over the red rose that he held to YayaDUB. And it reached YayaDUB. It felt like everything else in the world was right again. The “pabebe pinky swear” got everyone’s heart racing all over again in giddyness.
While Alden and YayaDUB were smooching the monitors, Lola Nidora pushed YayaDUB aside. Alden almost kissed her if not for him getting immediately aware of it. This was where Lola Nidora admitted how tired she has gotten of this ALDUB euphoria. She was screaming for several episodes now. That her voice almost never normalized and stayed hoarse. Frankie also managed to sneak himself in the same room where Alden’s monitor is. In this vein, Lola Nidora brought out again the box. The box was first shown a day before the ALDUB monthsary.
The box contained a key that Lola Nidora handed over to Frankie through the camera. (Much laughter arose from the unbelievability; then again it’s a KalyeSerye that basically parodied conventional teleseryes) Frankie then handed over the key to Alden as they await Lola Nidora’s instructions. Now that it’s the ALDUB monthsary, Alden will earn another shot at meeting YayaDUB for real. And he expressed his resilience in meeting YayaDUB in person. Alden made the “Laban” hand signs. YayaDUB then scribbled on her paper “Laban” (Fight). This is when Lola Nidora eventually revealed the spot where the key will be useful.
There was a chest on one side of the room where Alden can use the key. Turns out that it contained a bundle of wood. This is in direct reference to the days when Lola Nidora’s suitors chopped wood as part of their servitude to her family. Lola Nidora then told Alden that if he managed to take the bundle of wood from the Eat Bulaga studio to EDSA in less than 20 minutes. Then he scores one point in Lola Nidora’s scoreboard. Alden agrees. He raised his signboard saying “For you I will”. YayaDUB replies with her own signboard saying “Kaya mo yan” (You can do it). The ALDUB monthsary episode just got exciting.
Lola Nidora then reveals her scoreboard. She called it “Countdown to Tamang Panahon”. Finally, the audience can define what “tamang panahon” (right time) is. It does not say how many days will it cover. But Lola Nidora mentioned that for every challenged that Alden accomplished will be jotted down on the scoreboard. The ALDUB monthsary may have something to do with Lola Nidora’s decision to put up a scoreboard. ALDUB lasted for a month despite never meeting in person. This is in contrast to how Frankie tried his best to be close to YayaDUB when he is just within breathing distance.
Alden then prepared and waited for Lola Nidora’s signal. The timer was set. Alden managed to warm up in the ALDUB monthsary episode. And Lola Nidora said go. As Alden ran from the studio out of the building, the timer was shown on the top middle part of the screen.
Alden had back-up to as he ran from Broadway Centrum (home of Eat Bulaga) to EDSA. Netizens then spotted Alden from Betty Go Belmonte to Cubao all the way to the designated spot where Alden may stop. Apparently, one of the Rogelio 5 was already waiting in the EDSA spot where Alden should stop. With about 3 minutes left on the clock, Alden made it to his destination. YayaDUB was shown deliriously happy while holding the sign “Kayanin mo para sa ating dalawa” (Endure it for the two of us). Of course, Alden endured. It’s a welcome feather to the cap of the much-celebrated ALDUB monthsary.
YayaDUB was very happy. Frankie, in the bosom of 2 alluring assistants, watched in disappointment as Lola Nidora wrote on the scoreboard. The scoreboard is more like a coffee table book. Lola Nidora wrote the task and the score under the accomplished task. 1 point. YayaDUB then wrote on her paper “Naka-1 point ka na! Pati sa puso ko!” (You already got 1 point! Even in my heart!” Lola Nidora is still conflicted about this. And she tried to take away YayaDUB’s sign. The people around Alden were just as happy. Only the one Rogelio managed to keep a stoic face.
How many challenges await Alden? Only Lola Nidora knows. Everyone can only console themselves over the fact thatthe scoreboard is not that thick. But does it mean waiting until the next ALDUB monthsary? Hopefully it will not be that long.
