Lola Nidora was shown at the beginning of the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode watering the plants. She sang some Aegis lines in antipation of the hit rock band’s guesting the next day. Upon hearing the small talk in between the KalyeSerye commentators. Lola Nidora turned to greet them. Later, she was distracted by upbeat music blaring in the background.
It announced the arrival of Donya Tinidora and Rogelia. Lola Nidora saw their outfits. “Bakit ganyan ang hitsura nyo? At bakit kayo magkasama?” (Why do you look like that? And why are you together.?) Donya Tinidora didn’t find anything wrong with their appearance at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Eh ano ba ang masama? Kasi itong si Rogelia. Alam mo naman, ate. Sumama sa ‘kin sa Zumba. Very conscious ako sa aking health. Di ba?” (So what’s wrong? Well here is Rogelia. You know him, elder sister. He went with me to Zumba class. I’ve been very conscious about my health.)
Lola Nidora ended up asking about him too. “Kumusta naman ito?” (How did he do?) Donya Tinidora replied. “Nagpabida dun yan.” (He showed off.) Rogelia ended up happily sharing what happened at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Lola, sobrang nag-enjoy po ako at sumayaw ako ng bonggang bongga.” (Granny, I enjoyed so much and danced fabulously.)
Lola Nidora felt awkward. “Sumayaw ka dun?” (You danced there?) Rogelia continued. “Yes, lola. Reyna ako dun.” (Yes, granny. I’m the queen there.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Donya Tinidora mentioned the reaction at the gym. “Natatakot sila sa ‘kin. Kala nila nagbabayad na ko ng lalaki. Hindi nila alam. Babae din ito.” (They feared me. They thought I pay men now. Unbeknownst to them. Rogelia is a woman too.)
Lola Nidora asked for the dance moves. “Patingin nung Zumba. Papano yung Zumba? Ikaw, Tinidora. Kung saan saan mo dinadala ito.” (Let me see the Zumba moves. How were the Zumba moves? Tinidora, you’ve been taking him to places.) Donya Tinidora justified herself. “Aba! Sumama eh!” (He’s the one who went with me!) Rogelia then showed off his Zumba stuff at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
Bossing Vic himself was so impressed at Rogelia’s movements. “Matindi ito, lola.” (He’s extremely gifted [as a dancer].) Lola Nidora was almost dumb-founded. “Parang gusto ko rin mag-Zumba.” (It’s as if I’d like to try Zumba sessions too.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Bossing Vic almost wanted to try it too. “Oo. Tirik ang araw. Nagzu-zumba. Ganda!” (Yes. Zumba sessions at high noon. Brilliant!)
Donya Tinidora found Rogelia very effeminate in dancing. In a good way. “Lambot ang katawan di ba?” (Very fluid movements, aren’t they?) Rogelia finished his dance at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Maganda ba, lola?” (Was it nice, granny?) Donya Tinidora was very pleased. “Oo. Very good.”
Donya Tinidora felt good. “Nakakasigla talaga ang katawan yan. Ehersisyo. Ika nga.” (Exercise. It’s good for the body. As they say.) AT the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora was reminded of something regarding Rogelia’s performance. “Parang pinakuluan itong may tinidor ano? Natutuwa naman ako at nagba-bonding kayong dalawa ni Rogelia.” (He’s so malleably soft. He’s like boiled meat with a fork. I’m glad you’re going along with Rogelia.)
Donya Tinidora had to admit though. “Kinakabahan na ako, ate.” (I am nervous, elder sister.) Lola Nidora turned to Donya Tinidora again. “Bakit ka naman kinakabahan?” (Why are you nervous?) Donya Tinidora tried to deflect the topic at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “May bago ka na namang hobby.” (You have a new hobby.)
Lola Nidora replied. “Wala. Dinidiligan ko lang itong mga halaman. Kasi alam mo naman ang init ngayon, Tinidora. Kung tayo’y hirap na hirap. Papano na itong mga halaman? May buhay din ito. Pati mga hayop.” (Nothing much. Just watering the plants. You know how hot the weather have gotten. If we are having difficulty. What more for the plants? They have life too. Even the animals.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Bossing Vic replied. “Correct.”
At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora continued her Earth Day lecture. “Dapat pinapainom natin sila ng tubig. Kasi alam mo ba? Happy Earth Day to you. Ang ibig sabihin ng Earth Day. Pinapaalala niya sa araw na ito. Dapat iniingatan natin ang planetang Earth. Dahil isang beses lang ito mangyari sa isang taon. Pero dapat, araw araw nating pinapangalagaan ang kalikasan.” (We should let them have water. Because you know? Happy Earth Day to you. Earth Day means. That we should take care of planet Earth. Because this [occasion] only happens once a month. But we should take care of nature everyday.)
Donya Tinidora agreed with Lola Nidora. “Kaya nga. Mahalin ang kalikasan.” (Indeed. Love nature.) Lola Nidora reflected at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Nakakalungkot. Lalo ngayon, Tinidora. Makikita mo yung init. Ang sobrang sakit na ng init.” (It’s sad. Especially now, Tinidora. You’d experience the heat. It’s sickening.) Donya Tinidora agreed again. “Ay talaga. Mainit talaga. Nakakapangit yan.” (For real. It’s hot. It makes you ugly.) Lola Nidora thought. “Lukot lahat ng mukha.” (Everybody’s wrinkly.)
Alden arrives on the other monitor. Lola Nidora acknowledged Alden’s arrival at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Eto lang ang hindi lukot ang mukha.” (Here’s the only one without any wrinkles.) Alden greeted them. “Hello, lolas.” Lola Nidora greeted him back. “Hello, pogi pogi.” Alden exchanged some pleasantries with the grannies at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
Lola Nidora talked more than Donya Tinidora though. “Pagod ang lola mo. Nag-Zumba kasama si Rogelia.” (Your granny [Tinidora] is tired. She went to her Zumba session with Rogelia.) Alden observed at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Si Lola. Napapadalas ang exercise.” (It’s granny. She’s exercising more often.)
Donya Tinidora justified her newfound fascination for fitness fads at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Kelangan yan, Alden. Sa edad namin. Kelan ka pa mage-exercise? Pag nakahiga na? Wala na. Kelangan hanggang kaya mo, go! Go! Go!” (It’s a must, Alden. In our age. When do you expect us to exercise? Once we’re bed-ridden? It’s a goner. You have to do it while you can.)
Lola Nidora went back to commemorating Earth Day. “Alden. Happy Earth Day. Sabihin mo diyan sa kapareho mong kabataan na ingatan ang kalikasan. Pangalagaan araw-araw ano?” (Tell your fellow youth to take care of nature. Nurture it everyday.) Alden heard Lola Nidora clearly at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Opo. Sa katunayan nga po, lola. Nag-usap na po kami ni Divina. Nagpaplano na po kami ng mga ALDUB Trees. Tree planting for the environment.” (Yes. Actually, granny. I have talked to Divina.)
Lola Nidora liked the planned project. “Maganda yan.” (That’s nice.) Alden didn’t give any date yet. “Malapit na malapit na po yan, lola. Inaayos na po namin.” (It’s coming very soon, granny. We’re still making arrangements.) Donya Tinidora liked Alden’s plan too at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Maganda yang naisip nyo.” (Your concept is nice.)
Alden added. “Lola. At saka yung mga dabarkads din. Puedeng sumali sa min pag natuloy yung planting. Ia-announce po namin yan.” (Granny. The fellow hosts [at Eat Bulaga]. They may join too once it gets pushed though. We’d be announcing it soon.) Lola Nidora could only imagine years after the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. In case the ALDUB Tree planting project pushes through. “Meron yung pag lumaki na yun. Yan yung ALDUB Tree.” (Once it grows. People will refer to it as the ALDUB Tree.)
Alden imagined it too. “Maraming maraming ALDUB Trees po, lola.” (Lots and lots of ALDUB Trees, granny.) Donya Tinidora wanted to join too. At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora then remembered their outfits. “Masusuot na natin, Tinidora. Yung pang-hiking natin. Matagal na nating hindi nasusuot yun.” (We can finally wear them. Tinidora, we’d finally use our hiking gear. It’s been so long since we last wore it.)
Donya Tinidora liked it. Later at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora noticed Alden getting pre-occupied. “Bakit humahaba yang leeg mo? May stiff neck ka ba?” (Why are you stretching your neck? Do you have a stiff neck?) Before Alden could reply. Donya Tinidora beat him to it. “Hindi. Jumi-giraffe na naman siya. Giraffe hanapin.” (No. He’s stretching like a giraffe again. Looking for someone.)
Alden tried to answer the grannies. “May nami-miss po ako. Nasan po?” (I miss someone. Where is she?) Donya Tinidora replied. “Hanapin mo. Nandyan lang yan. Baka na-misplace mo lang.” (Look further. She’s just there. You just misplaced it.) Alden’s place at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode was a main obstacle for him. “Lola, wala ba diyan sa likod?” (Granny, isn’t she there at the back?)
An SUV car horn was heard honking at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora chose to reply to Alden. “Try harder.” Divina was then shown from behind a plant. She looked pissed. “Ayan ka na naman eh. Hinahanap mo na naman ako. Bakit ba lagi mo akong hinahanap, Alden? Bakit parang kapag wala ako? Kapag wala ako sa tabi mo? Lagi mo akong hinahanap?” (There you go again. You’re looking for me again. Why do you keep looking for me, Alden? Why whenever I’m not around? Whenever I’m not by your side? You’re always looking for me?)
Divina seemed annoyed. “Ganyan ka na ba talaga, Alden? Ha? Ano? Pag di mo ko nakikita? Maghahanap ka na lang kung saan saan? Lagi mo kong hinahanap. Nakakainis ka.” (Have you always been like that, Alden? What? What? Whenever you don’t see me? You’d keep looking anywhere? You’re always looking for me. You’re irritating.) It’s a far from happy hi/hello that Alden expected at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
Donya Tinidora thought Divina is being her capricious self again. “Sobra siya, ate. Kausapin mo yan.” (She’s too much, elder sister. You talk to her.) Divina repeated her complaint. “Nakakainis na eh.” (It’s irritating.) Lola Nidora didn’t know who to ask at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Ano nangyari dito?” (What happened here?) Donya Tinidora replied. “Ewan ko. Kausapin mo yan.” (I don’t know. You talk to her.)
Divina continued with her rant. “Andyan lang naman ako, Alden, eh. Kung saan ssaan ka pa kasi tumitingin eh.” (I’m just there, Alden. You keep looking elsewhere.) Alden tried too diffuse her foul mood at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Asan ka ba?” (Where are you?) Divina replied. “Andyan lang naman ako sa puso mo eh.” (I’m just there in your heart.) Donya Tinidora sensed where this is going.
Alden sensed it too. He started matching Divina’s mood. “Divina, bakit? Masama ba?” (Why, Divina? Is it a bad thing?) Donya Tinidora braced herself for the lovers’ quarrel brewing at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Alden almost raised his voice. “Makinig ka sa akin.” (Listen to me.) Divina replied. “Nakikinig ako.” (I am listening.) Alden continued. “Masisisi mo ba ako ha? Na lagi kong hinahanap ang tinitibok ng puso ko?” (Can you blame me? If I keep looking for the one that my heart beats for?)
Allan K saw Divina smile again. “Nangiti ka, Meng. Nahuli ka.” (You smiled. You were caught. Divina tried to keep her smile from being seen. She just tried to DUBsmash without smiling instead. Alden waited for her to stop DUBsmashing first at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode before continuing. “Ngayon mo sabihin sa akin kung masama ang ginagawa ko.” (Now tell me if what I’m doing is a bad thing.)
Divina answered him. “Alden, oo. Masama. Alam mo kung bakit? Kasi nandyan lang naman ako sa yo eh.” (Yes. It’s a bad thing. Because I’ve always been there.) Divina was almost repetitive here at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Alden kept on appeasing her though. “Pero, Divina. Hindi ka mawawala sa puso ko. Itong mga matang ‘to, Divina. Ikaw lang ang gustong makita.” (But, Divina. You were never lost in my heart. These eyes, Divina. You are the only person they want to see.)
Alden and Divina ended up having another DUBsmash exchange before their lines go repetitive. [I know this is improv. But that’s exactly why it’s meant to be spontaneous. Not repetitive at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.] Alden tried to pinch Divina’s nose despite the split screen situation. Divina ended up sneezing close to the plant.
Lola Nidora snaps out of her frustration and slams her fan down. “Kung mag-aaway kayo sa harap ko. Tigilan nyo na yan, Alden.” (If you’re going to bicker in front of me. Stop this.) Alden and Divina were startled. Alden had to ask Lola Nidora. “Lola, bakit po?” (Granny, why?) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora was close to her neurotic self.
Lola Nidora still tried to speak. “Ba’t kayo nagkakaganyan? Nagsisigawan kayo sa harap ko. Parang sinasabi nyo na mali ang decision ko sa tamang panahon.” (Why are you doing that? You are raising your voices in front of me. As if you’re telling me that I made the wrong decision at the ALDUB EB Tamang Panahon event.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Alden had to cover for Divina. “Lola, acting lang po.” (We’re just acting.)
Divina confirmed Alden’s hunch. “Acting lang po yun, lola.” (It’s just an act, granny.) Alden had to appease Lola Nidora this time. “Maghunos-dili po kayo.” (Take hold of yourself.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora replied. “Bakit? Uma-acting din naman ako.” (Why? I’m acting too.)
Alden heaved a sigh of relief. “Lola, nakakadala kayo ah. Grabe kayo sa amin ha? May phobia po ako sa mga ganung mukha nyo.” (Granny, I get horrified. You’re too much when it comes to us. I’ve developed a phobia with that kind of facial expression of yours.) Lola Nidora immediately covered her face at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Hindi na. Hindi na. Hindi na.” (Enough. Enough. Enough.)
Donya Tinidora somewhat shrugged it off. “Nagulat kayo.” (You’re startled.) Alden continued. “Kala ko po babalik yung dating Lola Nidora. Yung paghihiwalayin po kami ni Divina.” (I thought the old Granny Nidora will be back. The one that would separate us of Divina.) Donya Tinidora chose to be her sarcastic self at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Alam nyo. Kayong tatlo? Pag-uuntugin ko kaya kayo.” (You know. The three of you? I’m bump all 3 of your heads.)
Lola Nidora then tried to calm Donya Tinidora down. “Ikaw naman. Kagagaling mo lang ng Zumba.” (Please. You just got back from Zumba class.) Donya Tinidora wasn’t that upset though. “Ginugulat nyo akong dalawa. Me palobo-lobo ka pa ha?” (You too startle me. You even got some balloons.) Lola Nidora thought it’s a good thing at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
Alden lightened up the mood with Divina. “Lumobo pa yung ilong mo.” (You blew your nose.) Divina reasoned that it’s part of the act. [Frankly, this part of the pseudo-workshop is bordering on acting therapy. The ALDUB Aking Mahal episode is unscripted. What do you expect them to say? They are vying for authenticity. So be it if it betrayed their emotional state of mind.]
After the pleasantries were exchanged at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Divina told Alden. “Yung ano kanina? Ano lang yun ha?” (The [act] awhile ago? It’s just [an act].) Alden can sense the authenticity in the lines though. “May karga ha? Kinabahan akong very light.” (It’s a loaded performance. I got slightly worried.)
Divina insisted that it’s just a workshop phase. “Hindi. Acting lang yun. Ito naman. Alam mo naman yun di ba?” (No. It’s just acting. Come on. You already know that, right?) Alden almost felt bad at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Sobra ka na eh.” (You’re too much.) Donya Tinidora could only comment. “Naglalambingan lang pala kayong dalawa.” (So you’re just trying to be sweet to each other.)
Divina kept up with her reasons. “Nagpa-practice lang po kami, lola. Okay po ba? Convincing po ba?” (We’re just practicing, granny. Was it okay? Was it convincing?) Alden was quick to answer at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Oo. Akala ko may nagawa akong masama talaga.” (Yes. I really thought I have done you something wrong.) Lola Nidora then gave her feedback. “Convincing. Nagulat si Alden sa ‘yo.” (Alden was shocked with you.)
Donya Tinidora gave her feedback too. “Pero alam nyo? Mas maganda yan kung ang acting nyo. Ako magtuturo sa inyo.” (But you know? It would be lovelier if your acting. If I will teach you.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora had to push Donya Tinidora. “Turuan mo ang mga bata. Kasi malapit nang mag-shooting ng pelikula ito. Yung praktisado talaga.” (Teach the kids. They’re about to shoot their film. Train them well.)
Donya Tinidora had to orient Divina at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Ikaw naman, Divina. Alam mo naman ha? Actingan na ito. Yung naituro ko. Dapat mata mata lang gumagana rito ha? Mata lang ang nangungusap. Punong puno ng emosyon. Kalmado.” (And you, Divina. You already know. This is acting. Things that I have taught you [keep them in mind]. Work only the eyes. Only the eyes should be making statements. Filled with emotion. Calm.)
Lola Nidora found that tough. “Ganun ba yun?” (Is that so?) Donya Tinidora confirmed it. “Oo. Mata lang ang gumagana.” (Yes. Only the eyes are working.) Alden had to ask Donya Tinidora. “Patingin naman po.” (Please let me see.) Donya Tinidora even gave them a reference at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Parang si Nora Aunor. Pag umaakting, punong puno.” (Just like Nora Aunor. Whenever she acts, it’s so packed.)
Alden remembered Lola Nidora at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Feeling ko po si Lola Nidora, kaya yung mga ganung acting.” (I think Lola Nidora can come off with that kind of acting.) Lola Nidora thought otherwise. “Di ko kaya yan.” (I can handle that.) Alden egged her on. “Lola, patingin nung acting. Mata lang.” (Granny, let me see your acting. Just the eyes.) Alden must have referred to Lola Nidora’s wide-eyed expression consistently seen even in episodes prior to the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
Donya Tinidora prodded Lola Nidora. “Pakita mo, ate.” (Show them, elder sister.) Lola Nidora eventually relented. She delivered her own lines consistent with the Earth Day theme at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Tingnan nyo. Ang init init na. Bakit di tayo magtanim ng puno? O mag-swimming? Mag-outing? Para hindi ganito ang pagmumukha natin.” (Look. It has gotten so hot. Why don’t we plant trees? Or go swimming? Go on an excursion? So we don’t look like this?)
Donya Tinidora liked it. “Ganda. Maganda. Nakita nyo yun? Nakita nyo?” (Lovely. Lovely. Did you see that? Did you see that?) Divina said yes. Bossing even commented at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Kitang kita namin. Naninilaw yung mata oh. Ba’t di ka magpatingin, lola?” (We saw it clearly. Your eyes are a little yellow. Why don’t you have a check-up, granny?)
Donya Tinidora somewhat agreed. “Baka kelangan mo ng pang-hepa na rin.” (Maybe you need to have some check-up for hepatitis too.) At the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Lola Nidora immediately thought. “Siguro nasobrahan ako ng pang-maintenance. Sa puso ano?” (Maybe I had too much of that maintenance medication. For the heart, isn’t it?)
Donya Tinidora had to tell Lola Nidora. “Inom ka ng inom ng pang-maintenance. Atay na yang inaabot mo.” (You keep taking your maintenance medication. It has affected your liver.) Divina had to tell her too. “Hinay hinay lang kasi, lola, sa chiwibols.” (Take it easy on the chewables, granny.)
Eventually at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. Donya Tinidora had to bring the workshop back on Alden and Divina. “Heto na. Mag-eksena na tayo. Sabik na sabik kayo sa isa’t isa. Nami-miss nyo na ang isa’t isa. Nasa ibang bansa si Alden. Tapos pinipilit mo nang umuwi.” (Here we go. Let’s do a scene. You are longing for each other. You miss each other. Alden is out of the country. Then you [Divina] pressure him to go home.)
Lola Nidora is confident of Divina’s skills at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode. “Naku. Ito pang apo natin. Fast learner ito.” (Oh my. Our grand-niece. She’s a fast learner.) Divina checked if she understood the instruction. “Mata lang po, lola.” (Just the eyes, granny.) Allan K tried asking Donya Tinidora for specifics. “Nagmamakaawa. Nagagalit. Na pauwi na. Ano?” (Begging. Mad. That someone’s going home. What expression exactly?)
Donya Tinidora chose to summarize what she wanted. “Basta kailangan na niya umuwi. Miss na miss eh. Siempre pag miss na miss. Malambing yan. Nakikiusap.” (That he needed to go home. They miss each other so much. Of course whenever there is longing. There will be sweetness. Begging even.) Divina heard the instructions given at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
It must have been one of the toughest acting challenges for Alden and Divina so far. Lines are okay. But they take the attention away from the eyes. So Donya Tinidora eventually discouraged any lines. It helped a lot that it’s split-screen because the focus would be on their faces. So at the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode, it’s a headshot of Alden and Divina making their eyes act.

They had difficulty acting without lines. Sometimes Lola Nidora was asked to act through her eyes again. Still no lines. Divina even occasionally put the microphone close to her eyes to make them “talk”. Nice touch. And the approach to be serious was there. It served as a nice anticipation for the live workshop to be expected after the ALDUB Aking Mahal episode.
