#ALDUBAgainstAllOdds Everyone is excited not for the #Yakie wedding. But for the possibility of Alden Richards coming over to steal the bride away from the groom in the ALDUB Against All Odds episode. That bride is Divina Ursula Bocbocoba Smash. YayaDUB to Lola Nidora and to the nation that religiously tuned in to the first every KalyeSerye on Philippine TV. The segment that infused new blood into the 36-year-old noontime show Eat Bulaga.
Frankie Arenolli is the groom. And he really went out of his way to spend for the wedding. He really made sure that the wedding would push through. It was mentioned in the #ALDUBisforReal episode the efforts that Lola Nidora contributed to get the wedding done too. And the doctors were seen in the bride’s dressing room as well. The gown also was made to help YayaDUB breathe better. Instead of a turtleneck collar, the bridal gown has a moderately low neckline. Low enough to let her breath but show no cleavage. This wedding is expected to be solemn. Also, Lola Nidora is really old school in terms of choosing a wedding motif. Images of the wedding preparations were posted on the Eat Bulaga Facebook page prior to airing the ALDUB Against All Odds episode.
Images of the wedding cake, the wedding aisle, bridal bouquet and coin pouch are shown on the Eat Bulaga Facebook Page. The wedding cake’s photo gave away YayaDUB’s true feelings for this wedding. Very sad, forlorn and resigned to her fate. Much of this episode shows how almost everyone is resigned to their fates. In the ALDUB Keep The Faith episode, it was YayaDUB that asked Alden for help. The emotional blackmail and constant reminders of her roots are just too much to bear for YayaDUB. She kept getting reminded that she almost grew up in the mansion. It’s a few steps short of obliging her to have some debt of gratitude. The ALDUB Against All Odds episode displayed a wedding where only Lola Nidora and Frankie are happy.
The social networks were abuzz. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were on the verge on imploding with all of the status updates. On Twitter, more than an hour before the ALDUB Against All Odds episode officially starts, the hashtag ALDUB Against All Odds has trended worldwide. Netizens are quick to remind fellow fans and spectators the guidelines and etiquette needed. Everyone may be on the edge of their seats. Giddy, nervous and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. But they understood the need to act civilized for the sake of everyone.
Resident dabarkads Paolo Ballesteros and Duhrizz Maine (Duh, for short) hosted the red carpet pre-wedding chutzpah. Well, it was a convenient excuse for Duh to dress up and make everyone believe that she’s beautiful. She’s exactly like the wedding. Something the people would rather not have. Then again she’s Lola Nidora’s granddaughter. And she used that to throw her weight around. There was an effort to phish compliments from her make-up to her gown. The only people perhaps in the ALDUB Against All Odds episode that would find her pretty are individuals whose eyes got stabbed with glass shards.
YayaDUB kept DUBSmashing “Runaway” by The Corrs. Everyone was wishing that it would mean taking fate to her own hands. Alden is nowhere in sight. The host would not disclose the place of the Church. (Too late. Before 1:30pm, the Twitter accounts of ALDUB CALABARZON and ALDUB Rizal Area have spotted the wedding venue at Binangonan, Rizal. Everyone logged on to Twitter managed to catch it) Then again, that’s also the reason why Alden failed to go to the wedding. How can he save YayaDUB when even no one told him where to go?
Morbid as it may sound, people tuned in to the ALDUB Against All Odds episode are more interested to see Lola Nidora die than the #YaKie wedding. Dr. Tan-Ning’s diagnosis was very specific. So specific that it seemed as if certain shenanigans are going on behind the scenes to make that happen. Of course, Lola Nidora has a lot of enemies. But would that merit enough motivation to get her dead? Murder is not a suggestion. And Alden is too nice to get that idea floating around his head. Also, it would hurt YayaDUB. Seeing Lola Nidora die would be painful for YayaDUB too.
Alden then tried to go to the wedding. Too bad. There were more Rogelio clones blocking the Broadway Centrum gate. Almost immobilizing him. The fact that Frankie was arrogantly strutting towards the wedding aisle motivated him to bite the bullet. He was never too late perhaps. Upon seeing some tweets disclosing the wedding location. It prompted him to go for it. So he went upstairs and check the emergency exit. Still. More Rogelios. For the first time in the ALDUB KalyeSerye, the Rogelios were useful to Lola Nidora. The ALDUB Against All Odds episode deployed the most Rogelios. Alden is then stuck to his monitor watching YayaDUB marry Frankie.
Frankie was in a rush to marry YayaDUB because this is his opportunity to kiss her. If ever YayaDUB passes out again, at least he’s already married to her. The fact that he promised that YayaDUB would end up with more housework than she ever had compared to Lola Nidora’s housework only aggravated suspicions. Frankie is not a good fit for YayaDUB. And he never cared about her welfare. He’s practically buying a bride. Lola Nidora is just waiting for the pay-off after the wedding shown in ALDUB Against All Odds episode.
This is where the confusion started in the ALDUB Against All Odds episode. The moment the pastor said “You may now kiss the bride”. Lola Nidora blocked Frankie. She claimed that she can never kiss the bride until he signs the cheque worth five million five hundred pesos. She even stood up from her wheelchair to catch Frankie in time. And this is more than 15 minutes before her supposed death. Adrenaline rush? Frankie wanted to kiss YayaDUB first and sign the cheque later. Lola Nidora wanted Frankie to sign the cheque first and kiss YayaDUB later. And it seemed like Lola Nidora is getting stronger by the minute.
While YayaDUB felt like collapsing, 3 doctors are right behind her constantly checking her pulse and breathing. Everyone is conflicted as to whether to stop the clock for Alden to gain time to beat the Rogelios again. Or to push fast forward to the part where Lola Nidora dies before YayaDUB could say I do. Or before the groom may kiss the bride. In the midst of the conflict. sirens were heard on the background all over again. Lola Nidora must have forgotten that she is sick. Dr. Tan-Ning is nowhere to be found. Later some cops are shown entering the church.
Lola Nidora was dumbstruck with fear. She thought she’d be arrested. But the cops turned to the pastor and recited a rephrased version of the Miranda Rights to him. Then they put him on handcuffs. The pastor turned out to be fake and on the run from the law. With this information, the cops then declared the wedding invalid. The pastor has no authority to officiate weddings as he is a fake. The audience in Broadway Centrum erupted in collective applause. They were shown jumping up and down too. The ALDUB Against All Odds episode became a frenzied celebration due to another disrupted wedding.
As the cops tried to pull away the unmasked pastor. He then demanded Lola Nidora for his payment. No payment was given as Lola Nidora was dependent on the cheque to be encashed. Frankie and the rest then tried looking for Dr. Tan-Ning. It became apparent to them that Lola Nidora is not as sick as she claimed. Some of the wedding guests managed to bring Dr. Tan-Ning before Frankie. Dr. Tan-Ning then came clean. He is also fake. He is a fake doctor paid by Lola Nidora to write the very specific diagnosis about her impending death. The ALDUB Against All Odds episode exploded the internet all over again. And so is everyone at home watching everything unfold live.
The ALDUB Against All Odds episode is starting to look like a really bad day for Frankie. He could not help Lola Nidora but ask why. Lola Nidora cut the Tupperware party short. She came clean as to her motives behind pushing YayaDUB to marry Frankie. She needed the money for the diary. The diary’s ransom is at five million five hundred. An amount she does not have at the moment. The only way she can raise the money is by marrying YayaDUB off to Frankie. This was the deal that they had. She went as far as emotional blackmail for her own interests.
Frankie was upset. So upset that he ended up in a heated verbal argument with Lola Nidora. He demanded respect. Lola Nidora then replied “Ang pag-ibig nararamdaman, hindi binibili, pinaglalaban, iniingatan at pinagkakaloob sa TAMANG PANAHON!” (Love is felt, not bought, fought for, nurtured and handed over at THE RIGHT TIME.) The ALDUB Against All Odds episode made everyone hopeful again for that time when ALDUB officially meets in person.
Lola Nidora was repentant for what she did. The emotional blackmail, lying to YayaDUB and the psychological torture to Alden. That obviously explained why even if Lola Nidora pushed YayaDUB to marrying Frankie, his views on Alden has mellowed. In the ALDUB Against All Odds episode, Lola Nidora made her own signboard “Sorry, Alden – Lola”. YayaDUB is clearly shown heaving a sigh of relief. It felt like a sigh of relief in behalf of a nation praying for a miracle.
When would ALDUB finally meet? Lola Nidora’s “Tamang Panahon” is so vague. The only way to see it happen is by tuning in to Eat Bulaga, Monday to Saturday at noontime.
