One local’s morning swim accidentally stole the spotlight at Australian Fashion Week.
At Tamarama Beach in Sydney, Commas’ beachfront runway show collided with a local’s daily routine on May 12, as models made their way down the stairs and onto the sand. The man, later identified by Australia’s Today show as David, has reportedly been going to the same beach every morning for 30 years. So when the runway crossed paths with his routine, he simply stretched, removed his shirt, and headed into the water.
The video quickly gained traction online, with people applauding David’s calm, unbothered energy and calling him iconic. David later apologized to the designer, but even he had the perfect reaction to the accidental cameo: “I got to about here and I suddenly went, ‘I’m the lead model.’”
