Undas 2026 falls on Sunday, November 1 (All Saints’ Day) and Monday, November 2 (All Souls’ Day), and both are special non-working days under Proclamation No. 1006 and DOLE Labor Advisory No. 18. Manila North and South cemeteries have already published their visiting hours, tomb-cleaning deadlines and a vehicle ban running from October 29 to November 2.
With Saturday, October 31 just before them, many families get a three-day weekend. Here is what to know before you go.
When is Undas 2026, and is it a holiday?
Proclamation No. 1006, signed on September 3, 2025, lists All Saints’ Day on November 1 (Sunday) as a special (non-working) day and adds All Souls’ Day on November 2 (Monday) as an additional special (non-working) day, “to strengthen family ties” by giving more time for the traditional visits. For workers, “no work, no pay” applies on both days unless company policy or a CBA says otherwise; those who work get 130% of their daily wage, or 150% if it is also their rest day, according to DOLE. What are the key Undas 2026 dates at a glance?
| Date (2026) | What happens |
|---|---|
| Mon, Oct 26 | Last day to clean and paint tombs at Manila South Cemetery |
| Tue, Oct 27 | Last day to clean, repair and repaint tombs at Manila North Cemetery |
| Wed, Oct 28 | Last day for burials at both Manila North and South |
| Thu, Oct 29 | Vehicle ban starts at both cemeteries; Manila North opens 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily |
| Sat, Oct 31 | Manila South opens 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily |

Dates are from the cemeteries’ advisories as reported by the Inquirer and GMA News, and from Proclamation No. 1006. If you plan to clean or repaint a family tomb, go before these cut-offs, since crews and materials may not be allowed in after them.
What are Manila North Cemetery hours and rules?
- Visiting hours: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. from October 29 to November 2, 2026.
- Tomb cleaning, repair and repainting: until Tuesday, October 27.
- Last day for burials: Wednesday, October 28.
- Vehicles: no vehicles allowed inside from October 29 to November 2.
GMA News reported that more than one million people visited the Manila North Cemetery on November 1 last year, so expect heavy crowds. Cemetery director Daniel C. Tan appealed to the public to follow the guidelines to keep order.
What about Manila South Cemetery?
- Visiting hours: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. from October 31 to November 2, 2026.
- Tomb cleaning and painting: until October 26.
- Last day for burials: October 28.
- Vehicles: entry of any type of vehicle is prohibited from October 29 to November 2.
- Normal operations resume November 3.
The Inquirer reported these schedules from the two cemeteries’ advisories. For private memorial parks and cemeteries outside Manila, rules differ: check your city or the park’s official page or social media.
What items are banned inside cemeteries?
Manila North Cemetery’s list, as reported by GMA News: firearms, sharp objects, alcoholic drinks, pets, guitars, loud sound systems, flammable items such as alcohol and thinner, and gambling paraphernalia. The Inquirer’s report on both Manila cemeteries also lists smoking, illegal drugs, liquor, loud speakers and illegal weapons as prohibited.
Tip: leave anything you are unsure about at home or in your car outside the vehicle-ban zone.
How do you plan travel and parking?
- Do not plan to drive in. Both Manila cemeteries bar vehicles from October 29 to November 2. Park well away and walk, or take public transport. LRT-1’s Abad Santos and Blumentritt stations are the nearest rail stops to Manila North Cemetery.
- Go early or go on a weekday. Visiting on October 29 or 30 (Thursday and Friday), or early in the morning, may mean thinner crowds than on November 1 itself.
- Book provincial buses early. The LTFRB said it received 356 special permit applications covering 1,003 routes for this Undas season, up from 323 applications last year, GMA News reported.
- Check traffic advisories close to the date. Police said they are coordinating traffic management plans with LGUs and traffic authorities around cemeteries (Daily Tribune). Watch for MMDA and city road-closure announcements in the last week of October.

What about security and safety?
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered all regional commands to finalize Undas security plans, with police assistance desks, foot patrols, mobile teams and emergency response units in and around cemeteries, the Philippine News Agency reported. “We will maintain a strong and visible police presence in key areas so families can focus on honoring their loved ones with confidence and peace of mind,” he said.
In Metro Manila, NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano directed police units to coordinate with cemetery and columbarium administrators and deploy personnel at entrances, exits, nearby roads and transport terminals, the Daily Tribune reported. Police will also help visitors separated from family members.
- Agree on a meeting point with your family, especially if you bring children or seniors.
- Bring water, an umbrella and small bills; keep phones and wallets in front pockets.
- Report suspicious activity to the nearest police assistance desk.
