President Rodrigo Roa Duterte called for a meeting with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Debold Sinas and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Wilkins Villanueva at the Malacañang Golf (MALAGO) Clubhouse in Malacañang Park, Manila.
The meeting tackled the shooting incident between operatives of the PNP’s Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and PDEA agents during a buy-bust operation along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday evening (February 24, 2021). The unfortunate exchange of fire resulted to casualties from both sides.
In a recent press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, Jr. relayed that President Duterte is saddened by the incident and directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to lead the probation on the deadly shootout to ensure impartiality and justice.
Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go (Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs), Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra, Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, Jr. and NBI Deputy Director Antonio Pagatpat also attended the meeting.
