[ALDUB Bagong Simula featured image from @maiden16_tarlac.] The ALDUB Bagong Simula episode opens with Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora scrambling for food. The best they can do at scrambling for food involves running around the place like headless chickens. They found a store that sells bread. They somewhat hesitated in eating it as the only filling offered was peanut butter. But they eventually relented. It was their first food in 3 days.
Later, Lola Nidora arrived with YayaDUB with some food packed in plastic. Allan K noted how they were the happiest homeless people today. Homeless as of the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode at least. Donya Tidora wondered aloud why are they happy. Lola Nidora DUBsmashed “Happy” by Square Heads. YayaDUB ended up interpreting Lola Nidora’s DUBsmash at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Masaya po si Lola kasi may matutuluyan na tayo.” (Granny is happy because we finally found a place to stay.)
Donya Tidora was so happy herself upon hearing the good news. “Ha? May matutuluyan na tayo?” (What? A place for us to stay is found?) Donya Tinidora almost fell from her seat not because she’s happy. But because she was sitting at the wrong side of the wooden bench. They had to repeat the routine at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. Lola Nidora DUBsmashed “Happy” by Alexia. YayaDUB explained how Lola Nidora found the new place. “May naawa po kasi sa atin kaya binigyan tayo ng matutuluyan.” (Somebody took pity on us so they gave us a place to stay.)
Donya Tinidora told everybody to dance to celebrate. Donya Tidora later stopped to ask. “Teka, Yaya, Ate, san yung bahay?” (Wait, nanny, elder sister, where is the house?) Lola Nidora had to stop YayaDUB from dancing since the music had stopped. YayaDUB then directed them to the house they found at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. Just walking distance from where Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora ate. YayaDUB guaranteed that they will like it. “Lola, magugustuhan nyo po ito.” (Granny, you will like it.)
Lola Nidora thought of the new place to stay as a good deal. “P7000 lang ang bayad.” (Just P7000. [US$147.63 per month as of this writing.]) YayaDUB showed them the house at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Eto na po yung bahay. Wala lang pong swimming pool. Pero maganda naman po.” (Here is the house. There is no swimming pool. But it looks nice.) It was a concrete house devoid of paint.
Lola Nidora found a bathtub. “Puede mong gawing swimming pool ito, Tidora.” (This can be your pool, Tidora.) Donya Tidora didn’t complain. She did not hold back in her observation though. “Me bathtub pero sa labas. Katabi ng aso.” (There is a bathtud but outside. Beside the dog.) Donya Tinidora found the shower though. “Pati yung shower, nasa labas.” (Even the shower is outside.) Lola Nidora considered this a valuable deal.
Donya Tidora chose to ask instead of complaining. “Meron bang ano dito? Hot and cold water? At saka aircon?” (Do you have any? Like hot and cold water? And an airconditioning unit?) Donya Tinidora chose to complain instead of asking. “Naku! Ayoko nito! Ang liit ng hagdan! Mukhang marupok!” (Oh! I don’t like this! The ladder looked short! It also looked brittle!)
YayaDUB slightly downplayed her grannies’ complaints at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Konting linis lang po ang kailangan.” (It only needs a little cleaning.) Donya Tinidora is aghast. “Anong konting linis, Yaya? General cleaning ito.” (What a little cleaning, nanny? This needs a general cleaning.) To be fair, Donya Tinidora has a point. The space was left messy for the new tenants to clean. It was a far cry from the mansion they left at the ALDUB Where To Go episode. Also very far from the place that Donya Tidora once lived in Massachusetts as mentioned in the ALDUB Love on Top episode.
Donya Tidora was skeptical if this unit was really for P7000.00 a month. Donya Tinidora realized something that made the apartment look smaller at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. It’s a 3-bedroom apartment. That leaves YayaDUB to sleep elsewhere in the house. “Papaano ka nyan? Wala kang kwarto.” (How about you [nanny]? You don’t even have a room.) YayaDUB downplayed it too. “Okay lang po kahit dun sa may … kusina ba yun?” (It’s okay even if I stay in the … is that the kitchen?)
Donya Tidora had to compare at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Ate, parang mas malaki pa ang kwarto ni Rihanna diyan eh.” (Elder sister, it’s as if Rihanna’s room is bigger.) Lola Nidora tried to appease her sisters. “Hayaan nyo na at pagtyagaan muna natin. Basta ang sabi ko nga magkakasama tayo. Wag na kayong maarte. Buti nga at may bubong pa yan. Mahirap. May bagyo pa naman.” (Let it be and we’d take this for now. Just like what I said as long as we are together. So stop the hissy fits. At least there’s a roof above our heads. It’s hard. And there’s a storm coming.) She then told the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio to take the belongings to the house.
Donya Tinidora was calmer. But the complains continue. “Ate, sobrang liit. Parang nakakaawa naman tayong masyado.” (Elder sister, it’s too small. We look too pitiful at this.) Lola Nidora chose to unpack the lunch she bought. “Kalahating isda. Kalahating gulay. Sabre.” (Half a fish. Half a serving of vegetables. Sabre.) There was some rice already for the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. One of the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio delivered the plates straight to the table where the De Explorer entourage sat.
The sisters asked what is “sabre”. Lola Nidora replied. “Sabaw na libre.” (Free soup.) Most food stores offered free soup [usually meat stock or broth]. Lola Nidora was letting out the “sabre” when an SUV horn was heard honking outside the gate. It turned out to be Alden. DUBsmashing to the Jackson 5’s “Give Love on Christmas Day”. He brought food for them at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. The Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio helped him carry the packed dishes for YayaDUB and the grannies to share.
Donya Tidora was so happy with all the food brought. Donya Tinidora loved the efforts that Alden put into bring the food personally. “Ito talaga tong bata na to. Kahit may sakit, nagpupunta rito.” (This kid is something else. Even if he’s sick, he’d come over here.) [At the ALDUB Where To Go episode, the one referred to as feverish was Wally Bayola. Here at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode, the one referred to as feverish was Alden Richards. Their workaholic routines are starting to take a toll on them. But it didn’t show in either episode.]
Alden brought food for the De Explorer entourage and clothes for YayaDUB. YayaDUB is mightily proud of the apartment that Lola Nidora found for them at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Gusto mo dyan ka na rin tumira kasama namin?” (Would you like to live there with us?) Alden replied. “Basta kahit nasan ka. Okay ako.” (Wherever you may be. I’m okay with it.)
Alden then pulled out some of the clothes from their shopping bags. One jacket looked a little too glittery. It made YayaDUB quip. “Wala na nga kaming matirhan eh.” (We barely have a place to live.) YayaDUB is the only member of the De Explorer entourage not accustomed to frivolity that the Kalye’s Angels were accustomed to. Alden had a few adlibs of his own at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Para pag may prod.” (Just in case you have some production numbers.) YayaDUB went along with his idea. “Sukatin ko yung jacket para pag may prod.” (Let me fit the jacket just in case I have some production numbers.)
As Alden helped YayaDUB fit the jacket, he found his arms around her. He eventually apologized to YayaDUB for the miscue. YayaDUB tried to break that awkward feeling by DUBsmashing with Alden in consecutive turns. Since YayaDUB felt cold, Alden gave her his blazer too. It made Alden hug YayaDUB again. Allan K had to call him out on it. “Alden, para-paraan ka.” (Alden, you’re finding ways.) Another DUBsmash exchange ensued to break the ice at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode.
For Alden, no house is too small as long as he gets to be with YayaDUB. “Kahit kalahati pa niyan yung bahay natin, basta magkasama tayo.” (Even if the house we’d find is half the size of that [house], as long as we are together.) YayaDUB asked for assurance from Alden at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Di mo kami iiwan? Di mo ko iiwan? Promise?” (You won’t leave us? You won’t leave me?) Alden assured her. “Oo naman.” (Of course.)
Alden apologized again for the inconvenience caused by his grandmother Donya Babah. “Pasensiya ka na nga pala dun sa Lola ko ha? Kasi antigas nung puso nun eh. Pero hindi pa rin ako susuko. Tutulungan ko pa rin kayo.” (I’d like to apologize for my grandmother. Her heart has hardened. But I won’t give up. I would still help you.) Then he turned his attention to the grannies enjoying the hearty lunch at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode, apologetic.
Donya Tinidora tried to reason out. “Tinitikman namin itong dala mo.” (We’re just tasting your gifts.) There was a stray noodle strand found on her face though. YayaDUB just asked the grannies. “Lola, tirhan nyo po ako ha?” (Granny, please leave some for me, okay?) She got worried that with the way they ate, they’d be nothing left for her. Lola Nidora managed to talk in between mouthfuls of rice at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Buti na lang hindi ka nagmana sa lola mo.” (Good thing you did not end up like your grandmother.)
Alden asked if he may go with them at the Sugod Bahay errand. Lola Nidora had a different plan for the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Ganito na lang. Kumakain kami. Kayong dalawa na lang ang mag-Sugod Bahay.” (Let’s do it this way. We’re still eating. You two do the Sugod Bahay errand.) YayaDUB’s jaw dropped. Alden was more than happy to go. “Ay sige po. Gusto ko yan.” (Okay. I’d like to.)
Donya Tinidora thought it appropriate to pay it forward now through Alden and YayaDUB. “Alam mo. Para mas maramdaman mo. Ikaw naman, matulungin ka. Lalo na at lagi mo kaming tinutulungan. Yung ibang tao? Masarap ang pakiramdam, hijo.” (You know. So that you would feel it more. Besides, you are charitable. Especially now that you often help us. How about other people? It feels good inside.) Alden agreed. “Yes po, lola.” Donya Tinidora then took the opportunity in asking Alden at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Pahiram munang P500 mo.” (Lend me some P500 for the meantime.)
YayaDUB then removed Alden’s jacket to give it back to him. It was then her turn to help Alden wear his jacket. Donya Tidora can’t help but notice. “Ano ba? Mga nilalagnat ba kayo?” (What the …? Are you feverish?) Alden was quick to react. Lola Nidora saw the sly moves too at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Ano naman yan? Di porke kumakain kami.” (What’s that? Just because we’re eating?) Allan K defended YayaDUB. “Pinaamoy ko lang kay Yaya kung mabango.” (I just asked nanny to check if he smelled good.)
Lola Nidora reminded Alden and YayaDUB. “Alden, kahit kumakain kami, nakikita namin kayo ha? Wag kang duma-damoves” (Even if we are eating, we can see you. Don’t you dare make the moves.) Donya Tinidora had other problems. “Alden, gusto mo ba kaming patayin?” (Are you trying to kill us?) Alden was perplexed. “Bakit po?” (Why?) Donya Tinidora reasoned out. “Nagdala kang pagkain. Walang tubig?” (You brought food. And no water?) Donya Tidora choked a bit awhile ago from laughing while eating. Donya Tinidora found a hose but no plastic cups at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode.
Donya Tidora regained her composure and talked to Alden. “Huy, Alden! Salamat sa mga pagkaing dala mo ha? Di pa kami kumakain ng 3 days.” (Alden, thanks for the food you brought. We haven’t eat for 3 days.) Alden felt bad about the 3-day-starvation that the grannies endured. “3 days na po? Next time po, sabihan nyo po ako ha?” (It’s been 3 days? Next time, just tell me okay?) YayaDUB then asked some be left for her. Donya Tinidora didn’t see the need for YayaDUB to eat. “Busog na busog ka na nga eh.” (You already had your fill.) She was referring to “the moves” at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. They kept talking while waiting for Bossing Vic Sotto to draw the next winning mobile phone number for their next Sugod Bahay winner.
Both YayaDUB and Alden had been in Sugod Bahay errands before. But the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode was the first time that Alden and YayaDUB were together for the Sugod Bahay errand. And without any of the JoWaPao (Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros) to read the spiels alongside either host. Maine Mendoza through her character YayaDUB was a quick study. She has learned the sponsored spiels by osmosis. And now at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode, Maine shared the spiels with Alden. It proved as another stroke of genius in spicing up the KalyeSerye storyline. By making it interactive.
What was the interactive part in the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode? Apart from the standard questions in the Sugod Bahay segment (age, civil status, number of children, livelihood and family). They also asked tips on how to maintain a relationship. Of course the questions became appropriate when they learned that their winner was married with children. Later, the winner even let Alden and YayaDUB play with her youngest child. It gave Bossing Vic and Boss Joey an opportunity to check. How would ALDUB look like with a baby?
YayaDUB pinched the baby but her hand landed on Alden. Oops! “Sorry. Sorry. Nalito lang po ako.” (I got confused.) Alden then looked at the baby while referring to himself as “Daddy” and to YayaDUB as “Mommy”. The baby was obviously cool with it. Boss Joey joined in the role-play as the director giving instructions to Alden and YayaDUB at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode.
Boss Joey then asked. “Anong pangalan ng baby nyo?” (What is your baby’s name?) YayaDUB answered. “Charmaine po. Richard at saka Nicomaine. CHARMAINE.” Boss Joey and Bossing Vic obviously appreciated YayaDUB’s quick wit. Allan K was more than happy that YayaDUB thought of it so quickly. “Wow! Nakahanap ka na talaga ha?” (So you really found a name, huh?)
Boss Joey then reminded them of the role-play. “Oh, kunwari papasok na si Daddy.” (Let’s pretend that Daddy will go to work.) Alden played along at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode and called YayaDUB as ‘Babe’. “Babe, eto yung baby.” (Here’s the baby.) YayaDUB made him repeat what he said to check if she heard him right. So he repeated. “Babe, eto yung baby.” YayaDUB played along too and called Alden ‘Babe’. “Babe, sige. Akin na yung baby.” (Okay, babe. Give me the baby.)
Alden then told the little tyke. “Punta na kay Mommy.” (Go to Mommy.) Alden then went on with the role-play as if he’s going to work. “Sige. Mauna na ko sa office. Male-late na ko.” He was about to give YayaDUB a kiss on the cheek when both of them realized what was happening. Alden managed to stop himself at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode before his lips would land on YayaDUB’s cheek. YayaDUB then reminded Alden. “Magagalit si Lola.” (Granny will get mad.) She then tucked the kid close to her.
YayaDUB really enjoyed the role-playing game at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. She then told Alden as he went away. “Umuwi ka agad ha? Marami tayong gagawin. Yung mga anak natin. Yung tatlo. Uuwi pa galing eskwelahan! Dalian mo ha? Hindi pa kumakain yung bunso natin!” (Go home early okay? We have a lot to do. Our kids. 3 of them are coming home from school! Hurry up, huh? Our youngest hasn’t eaten!)
Alden was amused at how YayaDUB performed at the role-playing that Boss Joey set at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Nagsisimula pa lang tayo! Nagging na agad? Away na agad?” (We barely started! And you’re nagging? A quarrel this early?) Bossing Vic could only scratch his head at YayaDUB’s quick wit. YayaDUB justified getting carried away in her role. “Nagpa-practice nga tayo. Kunwari may apat tayong anak.” (We are practicing. We’re pretending we have 4 children.)
Alden didn’t have any problem having children. “Pero kahit gaano pa karami ang anak natin, basta tulong tulong tayo.” (No matter how many children we’d end up having, as long as we help each other.) YayaDUB then related how the way she helped the baby drink milk is the closest thing she got to breastfeeding. “Eto kasi yung sinasabi kong breast-feeding na ginagawa ko kay Matti.” (This is the breast-feeding I would usually do to Matti.) [Matti is Maine’s nephew by her sister Niki Mendoza-Catalan.] Boss Joey laughed hard at the mention of breastfeeding at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Breast-feeding! Ang tindi nito! Yan ang dinidibdib talaga.” (She’s something else! She really took it to heart.) YayaDUB was proud of it. “Literal po.” ([I took it] Literally.)
Alden found it hard to leave even in this role-playing situation. YayaDUB is hesitant to do the married goodbye kiss part. YayaDUB maintained her stance. She wasn’t that carried away yet to forget Lola Nidora’s reminders as of the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. Alden then decided to stay. “Parang ayaw ko nang umalis. Kasi I’m already home.” It led to a joke exchange. YayaDUB’s joke was heart-warming and funny at the same time.
YayaDUB: Knock knock.
Alden: Who’s there?
YayaDUB: I love.
Alden: I love who?
YayaDUB: E di ako. (So it’s me.)
Alden then remembered to burp the baby before she pukes. “Itayo natin. Baka magsuka.” (Let’s lift the baby. She might puke.) YayaDUB was hesitant. Alden then assured her. “Parang si Matti lang yan.” (Think of her like Matti.) YayaDUB felt a little proud that she can carry a baby now. She was swaying the baby at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode when Alden thought of a better idea. “Hindi. Actually para ma-relax yung baby, dapat dalawa tayong naghehele.” (No. So relax the baby, we two should sway her.) Alden pulled YayaDUB closer to help in swaying the baby.
Allan K found the gestures cute. “Parang binyag ng anak ah.” (As if it’s the baby’s christening.) Before Alden could try kissing YayaDUB again, the grannies had already followed them. Donya Tidora called their attention to the letter that Lola Nidora received at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. Alden simply greeted them. “Lola, tapos na po kayong kumain? Marami pa po akong dala. Baka gusto ninyong ubusin.” (Are you done with lunch? I still have more to give. You might want to eat them too.) Lola Nidora said “Okay”.
Alden gave help at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. But his tone was still polite. Almost begging at times especially at his next offer. “Yung tulong ko po. Sana tanggapin ninyo, Lola. May kakilala po akong merong apartment sa may Laguna. Baka gusto nyo pong dun muna tumira.” (About my help, granny. I hope you would accept it. I now someone with an apartment at Laguna. You might want to live there for the meantime.) Lola Nidora asked. “Sino yung kaibigan mo?” (Who’s your friend?) “Si Richard Faulkerson Jr po.” [The property might be in the name of Richard Faulkerson Jr hence the mention.
Donya Tinidora was worried about the distance. Hence her suggestion at the ALDUB Bagong Simula. “Samahan mo na rin ng service. Malayo eh.” (It should come with SUV service. It’s quite far.) Alden didn’t have a problem with it. Then he personally asked YayaDUB. “Yaya, gusto mo sa Broadway ka na lang? Kasama ko sa Broadway?” (Nanny, would you like to be on Broadway [Centrum]? To be with me at Broadway [Centrum]?)
YayaDUB politely turned Alden down. “Hindi. Okay na ko. Dito ako nagsimula eh. Saka di ko kaya pag wala sina Lola. Dito lang ako sa barangay. Sama-sama kami dito.” (No. I am okay here. This is where I started. And I can’t bear living without granny. I’d stay here at the barangay. We’re together here.) Alden assured YayaDUB at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Wag kang magalala. Mahal ko naman sina Lola eh.” (Don’t worry. I love the grannies.)
YayaDUB then abruptly asked Alden. “Eh ako?” (How about me?) Alden emphasized his answer at the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode. “Lalo ka na.” (Especially you.) YayaDUB needed proof and asked. “Lalo na ko? Sige nga. Sabihin mo nga sa harap ko.” (Especially me? Go ahead. Tell it to my face.) Alden stared straight to YayaDUB’s eyes before he was interrupted by Allan K.
Allan K quoted Richard Faulkerson Sr’s tweet. “Alden, nabasa ko tweet ng Daddy mo. Usapang bata. Kinabahan na naman ako.” (I read your Daddy’s tweet. Kid talk. I got nervous again.) Alden found his Dad’s tweet reactions per episode funny. But the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode was one of the first instances that he got quoted. Lola Nidora then unfolded the letter for YayaDUB to see. “Eto na yung sulat, Yaya.” (Here is the letter.) The truck horn honked off as soon as YayaDUB glanced at the letter. A cliffhanger ending for the ALDUB Bagong Simula episode.
