Last checked: October 28, 2026, against Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, Proclamation No. 1427, s. 2026, and DOLE Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025.
In short: A regular holiday is paid even if you do not work (100% of your daily wage, if eligible) and pays 200% if you work; a special non-working day is “no work, no pay” unless your company policy, practice or CBA says otherwise, and pays 130% if you work. The 2026 list comes from Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025 (plus two Eid proclamations), and the 2027 list was proclaimed on September 8, 2026 through Proclamation No. 1427, s. 2026.
DOLE’s Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025 sets the 2026 pay rules. DOLE has not yet issued its 2027 pay advisory as of October 28, 2026, so the standing Labor Code rules below apply until it does.
Regular holiday vs special non-working day: pay rules
| Situation | Regular holiday | Special (non-working) day | Special working day |
|---|---|---|---|
| You do not work | 100% of daily wage (if eligible) | No pay, unless policy, practice or CBA grants it | No pay (ordinary day) |
| You work the first 8 hours | 200% | 130% | 100% |
| Overtime (per hour) | Hourly rate × 200% × 130% | Hourly rate × 130% × 130% | Hourly rate × 125% |
| It is also your rest day, first 8 hours | 260% | 150% | 130% (ordinary rest-day rate, Labor Code Art. 93) |
| Rest day overtime (per hour) | Hourly rate × 260% × 130% | Hourly rate × 150% × 130% | Hourly rate × 130% × 130% |
Eligibility for unworked regular holidays: you must have been present at work, or on leave with pay, on the workday immediately before the holiday. If that day is a non-working day or your scheduled rest day, the rule looks at the day before that. Night work from 10 PM to 6 AM adds at least 10% of the hourly rate for that day (Labor Code Article 86). Some workers are outside holiday pay rules, including managerial employees and retail and service businesses regularly employing fewer than ten workers (DOLE handbook).
Month-by-month guides with sample computations: November 2026 holiday pay (Undas and Bonifacio Day) and December 2026 holiday pay (December 8, 24, 25, 30 and 31).

All 2027 dates are from Proclamation No. 1427, s. 2026. Note that several 2027 holidays fall on a Saturday (May 1, June 12, August 21, December 25), so many Monday-to-Friday workers will not get an extra day off for them.
How to check if a date is a holiday
- Find the proclamation. Nationwide holidays are set each year by a presidential proclamation, published by the Official Gazette and the PCO and mirrored on Lawphil.
- Check for later changes. Eid holidays, local special days and occasional extra days are declared in separate proclamations during the year.
- Read the DOLE advisory for the pay rules. DOLE issues a full-year advisory and often a reminder before major holidays.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a regular holiday and a special non-working day?
On a regular holiday you are paid 100% of your daily wage even if you do not work (if eligible) and 200% if you work. On a special non-working day, “no work, no pay” applies unless company policy, practice or a CBA says otherwise, and you get 130% if you work (DOLE Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025).
How many regular holidays are there in 2026?
Twelve nationwide: the ten in Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, plus Eid’l Fitr on March 20 (Proclamation No. 1189) and Eid’l Adha on May 27 (Proclamation No. 1264).
Are December 24 and December 31, 2026 holidays?
Yes. Both are special (non-working) days under Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025. If you work, you get 130% of your daily wage, or 150% on your rest day.
Are the 2027 Philippine holidays already declared?
Yes. Proclamation No. 1427, s. 2026, signed on September 8, 2026, lists the 2027 regular holidays and special days. The dates of Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha 2027 will be set in separate proclamations, and DOLE has not yet issued its 2027 pay advisory.
What is a special working day?
It is a commemorative day that is treated as an ordinary working day. In 2026 and 2027 that is February 25, EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary. You get your regular pay for work, and no holiday premium.
Are local holidays included in this list?
No. This list covers nationwide holidays and the Metro Manila special days of November 16 to 18, 2026. Many cities and provinces have their own special days declared by separate proclamations, so check with your LGU or employer.
