Last checked: October 28, 2026, against DOLE Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025, and Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025.
In short: Christmas Day (December 25) and Rizal Day (December 30), 2026 are regular holidays, so you get 100% of your daily wage even if you do not work and 200% if you work (260% on your rest day). December 8, December 24 and December 31 are special non-working days: “no work, no pay” applies unless your company policy, practice or CBA says otherwise, and if you work you get 130% (150% on your rest day).
These rates come from DOLE’s Labor Advisory No. 12, Series of 2025, which covers every holiday in 2026, and the dates come from Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025. As of October 28, 2026, DOLE has not issued a separate December advisory; the full-year rules already apply, and we will update this page if DOLE publishes a reminder.

Monday and Tuesday, December 28 and 29, are ordinary working days. For the full-year list, see our guide to 2026–2027 regular vs special non-working holidays.
How much is December 2026 holiday pay?
| Situation | Regular holiday (Dec 25, Dec 30) | Special non-working day (Dec 8, 24, 31) |
|---|---|---|
| You do not work | 100% of daily wage (if eligible, see below) | No pay, unless company policy, practice or CBA grants it |
| You work the first 8 hours | 200% | 130% |
| Overtime (per hour) | Hourly rate × 200% × 130% (260%) | Hourly rate × 130% × 130% (169%) |
| It is also your rest day, first 8 hours | 200% × 130% = 260% | 150% |
| Rest day overtime (per hour) | Hourly rate × 260% × 130% (338%) | Hourly rate × 150% × 130% (195%) |

Source: DOLE Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025 for the holiday and overtime rates; the night shift figures add the Labor Code’s 10% night differential (Article 86) to the holiday rate, as shown in DOLE’s Handbook on Workers’ Statutory Monetary Benefits.
Who gets paid on Christmas and Rizal Day without working?
Under DOLE’s rules, you get 100% on a regular holiday you do not work if you were present at work, or on leave with pay, on the workday immediately before it. If that day is a non-working day or your scheduled rest day, the rule looks at the day before that. In practice:
- Christmas Day (Fri, Dec 25): December 24 is a special non-working day, so for most Monday-to-Friday workers the day that counts is Wednesday, December 23.
- Rizal Day (Wed, Dec 30): the day that counts is usually Tuesday, December 29.
- If you were absent without pay on that day, you may lose the holiday pay. Check your attendance record before payroll cut-off.
Holiday pay rules do not cover everyone. DOLE’s handbook excludes, among others, government workers, managerial employees, field personnel whose hours cannot be tracked, and retail and service businesses regularly employing fewer than ten workers. Kasambahay are covered by the Batas Kasambahay instead.
Sample computation at a ₱700 daily wage
Using a sample basic daily wage of ₱700 (hourly rate ₱700 ÷ 8 = ₱87.50), for illustration only:
- You work 8 hours on December 24 or 31: ₱700 × 130% = ₱910
- December 24 or 31 is your rest day and you work 8 hours: ₱700 × 150% = ₱1,050
- You work 8 hours on December 31, plus 2 hours overtime: ₱910 + (₱87.50 × 169% × 2) = ₱910 + ₱295.75 = ₱1,205.75
- You do not work on December 24 or 31: ₱0 for the day, unless your company policy, practice or CBA grants pay
- You work 8 hours on Christmas Day: ₱700 × 200% = ₱1,400
- Christmas Day is your rest day and you work 8 hours: ₱700 × 260% = ₱1,820
- You work 8 hours on Rizal Day, plus 2 hours overtime: ₱1,400 + (₱87.50 × 260% × 2) = ₱1,400 + ₱455 = ₱1,855
- You stay home on Christmas or Rizal Day and are eligible: ₱700
Holiday premiums are usually not part of your 13th month pay, which is due on or before December 24. See our 13th month pay 2026 guide for the computation.
What if my December pay looks wrong?
- Check the day type in the table above, and whether that day was your scheduled rest day.
- Recompute using your basic daily wage and the matching rate. Keep your payslip and time records.
- Ask HR or payroll in writing first; many errors are cut-off timing issues.
- If it is not fixed, you can file a Request for Assistance under DOLE’s Single Entry Approach (SEnA) at the nearest DOLE office or online, or call the DOLE hotline 1349.

Is December 31, 2026 a special non-working day?
Yes. The Last Day of the Year, Thursday, December 31, 2026, is a special (non-working) day under Proclamation No. 1006. Pay is 130% if you work, 150% if it is also your rest day, and none if you do not work unless company policy or a CBA grants it.
How much is Christmas Day 2026 pay if I work?
December 25, 2026 is a regular holiday, so you get 200% of your daily wage for the first eight hours, or 260% if it is also your rest day. Overtime is paid at an extra 30% of the hourly rate on that day (DOLE Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025).
Do I get paid on Christmas Day or Rizal Day if I do not work?
Yes, 100% of your daily wage, as long as you were present or on paid leave on the workday immediately before. Because December 24 is a non-working day, for Christmas that usually means being present or on paid leave on Wednesday, December 23.
Has DOLE released a December 2026 holiday pay advisory?
Not as of October 28, 2026. DOLE’s Labor Advisory No. 12, s. 2025, issued in October 2025, already sets the pay rules for every 2026 holiday, including December 8, 24, 25, 30 and 31. DOLE often issues a reminder closer to the date; we will update this guide if it changes anything.
Is January 1, 2027 a holiday?
Yes. Proclamation No. 1427, s. 2026 lists Friday, January 1, 2027 as a regular holiday. DOLE has not yet issued its 2027 pay advisory, so the standing Labor Code rules apply: 100% if not worked (subject to the eligibility rule) and 200% if worked.
