The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) gives updates on the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) through a ‘Virtual Presser’ at the New Executive Building (NEB) in Malacañang on March 18, 2020.
On 16 March 2020, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed Proclamation Number 929 declaring a ‘State of Calamity’ throughout the Philippines for a period of six (6) months. An ‘Enhanced Community Quarantine’ in the entirety of Luzon was also imposed effective March 17, 2020 at midnight up until April 12, 2020. The impositions may be “lifted or extended as circumstances may warrant.”
The President has also directed all government offices, law enforcement agencies and local government units (LGUs) to mobilize all necessary resources to curtail and eliminate the spread of COVID-19.
