A Filipino is the new National Guide for the Raelian Movement

Veteran theater actor Kuya Manzano is the New Philippine National Guide for the Raelian Movement. He will be in charge of events, meetings and other leadership roles required in the Philippine contingent of the Raelian movement. A relatively new ideology, it promotes the belief that ancient aliens came on Earth and became ancestors of the human race.

According to Kuya Manzano’s website, humans are descendants of ancient aliens. It was a radical concept of intelligent design. And it was a theory that developed from research done on ancient writings attributed to pre-historic societies. The divine being is alluded to as the Elohim. The word “Elohim” was a Hebrew word that was translated as “individuals who originated from the sky”. These individuals were mistaken by the earliest settlers as gods as they came down from the sky. It also served as a stark contrast to Biblical references claiming that “Elohim” means God. They believe that the last prophet is the founder of the Raelian movement himself, Maitreya Rael.

Most of the ideologies associated with the Raelian are controversial. One of them is the Pro-Swastika movement. After World War II, the swastika has become associated with Hitler’s Nationalist Socialist Party, Nazi for short. It was originally a symbol of prosperity. Hitler’s propaganda team knew of that. But ever since then, even after the war, the swastika still brings forth negative memories from this symbol. Hence the initiative by the Raelian movement to “Rehabilitate the Swastika”. Another controversial concept associated with the Raelian movement is the GoTopless movement. The GoTopless movement is a US-based contingent of the Raelian. It claimed to be promoting equal rights for men and women. If men have the constitutional right to go bare-chested in public, the same constitutional right should be given to women as well. According to their website, GoTopless.org, “Free your breasts! Free your mind!”

Kuya Manzano participated in the GoTopless event by wearing a bra. It served as a visual commentary. If women’s nipples get censored, men’s nipples should be censored too. The bra served as a statement on how double standards came in when it comes to laws about breast exposure. He also hoped that the successful topless parades in New York and California would eventually be duplicated in the Philippines.

While the debate between young earth creationists and evolutionists have yet to be settled. The Raelian movement in the Philippines under the leadership of Kuya Manzano would keep on espousing the extraterrestrial-based teachings. These discussions occur on their monthly meetings.
