#EBDabarkadsPaMore The road to the Bulaga Pa More Dabarkads Pa More turned out to be tough for YayaDUB. Alden was nowhere in sight for days. It includes the day the EB Dabarkads Pa More episode was aired. And YayaDUB’s biological mother, Isadora, has written to Lola Nidora about her daughter Divina. In the ALDUB 12th Weeksary episode. Lola Nidora allowed YayaDUB to read Isadora’s letter.
It was a depressing moment for Lola Nidora. She exerted all efforts to hide the truth from her ward-turned-nanny Divina. She even went as far as barring her from talking to Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora in order for her not to learn the truth. Also, the search for Isadora hit a dead end as revealed in ALDUB The Revelation episode.
Apparently, the letter she received on the road to the EB Dabarkads Pa More episode was a verified letter from Isadora. On how she managed to verify Isadora in a way that Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora cannot. Only Lola Nidora knew. (Also, Alden is not around. A perfect opportunity to revive the foundling angle since one half of the ALDUB couple is absent. Another thing. The EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals seemed to be the focus this week. The ALDUB Nation didn’t have a problem with this minor deviation from the KalyeSerye as Alden is sent to GMA’s flagship events locally and abroad. )
YayaDUB managed to read the letter for herself. She did not like what she read. Isadora is claiming her. And based on Lola Nidora’s reaction. Isadora is planning to take Divina away from the Kalye’s Angels. The thought of being away from Lola Nidora is enough to get YayaDUB in tears too. True to her promise, she refused to leave Lola Nidora and her sisters. As Lola Nidora and YayaDUB has promised “Walang iwanan” (Leave no one behind) to each other. Lola Nidora enlisted the help of her sisters Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora to keep YayaDUB away from Isadora.
The EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals served as YayaDUB’s main motivation to give her best shot. She would be doing this for her grannies. (Technically, they are her aunts as Isadora is the triplets’ sister.) With Alden not around and Isadora not yet claiming her. YayaDUB found enough motivation and focus to join the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals.
The triplets and YayaDUB went to the extent of disguising themselves to avoid Isadora at the ALDUB Come What May episode. Donya Tidora was complaining about the need to disguise. Compared to the disguises that Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora. Donya Tidora sported the page boy look complete with a mustache. YayaDUB on the other hand just darkened her skin. The EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals is approaching. It would help YayaDUB practice in peace.
Apparently, the disguise is not as effective as the triplets thought. The camera pans behind a woman staring at them with YayaDUB practicing beside them. Could this be Isadora? It is too early to assume at this time. During the week leading to ALDUB The Abduction episode, the Kalye’s Angels had several close calls on rescuing YayaDUB. With YayaDUB now a finalist at the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals, she is again exposed to the threat of another abduction.
The EB Dabarkads Pa More episode approached. YayaDUB happily prepared for Saturday’s MAINE event. Lola Nidora was hurt to see her go. Her clingy tendencies and paranoia kicked in again. “Bakit kasi sa Bulaga Pa More isinali yung bata?” (Why did I let the kid join the Bulaga Pa More?) Donya Tinidora is again annoyed with her sister’s irrational fear. “O gusto mo sa Showtime Pa More isinali yung bata?” (So you want the kid to join Showtime Pa More instead?) [Eat Bulaga’s rival network on the noontime slot is It’s Showtime for the sake of our non-Filipino readers.]
In YayaDUB’s rush to reach the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals, she forgot her drumsticks. This forced Lola Nidora to go to Broadway Centrum too. Donya Tinidora tagged along knowing how frantic Lola Nidora could get. YayaDUB faced tough competition from 4 other finalists. HBD Girl Patricia, fellow dabarkads Ruby Rodriguez and Paolo Ballesteros and “The Princess in the Palace” Ryzza Mae Dizon. Each finalist will be presenting a hit segment in Eat Bulaga throughout its 36-year history that audiences have fallen in love with. YayaDUB’s assigned segment is the FHHM contest for plus-sized women.
YayaDUB reached the backstage part of the Eat Bulaga studio. She was greeted on her way in by the very chubby Baste. He carried what looked like a series of squiggles on a clipboard. An attempt at writing an inspiring message to YayaDUB. But he can’t write legibly yet. Seeing Baste made YayaDUB feel less nervous about the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals. Baste entertained YayaDUB in Alden’s absence.
Just when YayaDUB has climbed up the stairs to the Broadway Centrum. Donya Tinidora was only close behind as she accompanied Lola Nidora. They were both in a hurry but Lola Nidora was already exhausted. She asked Donya Tinidora to slow down. Donya Tinidora refused to slow down. It’s getting late. YayaDUB’s performance might be affected by a last minute change in drumsticks. Both grannies found YayaDUB backstage leaning on the wall that Alden wrote on.
It snapped YayaDUB back into the reality of EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals. Lola Nidora and then approached her quickly. Thankfully, she didn’t scold her. But her initial presumption of YayaDUB getting distracted at the thought of Alden turned out to be true. And Donya Tidora arrived just in time to lend some moral support to her. She almost got the makeup retouch wrong in her panic.
If ever Donya Tinidora panicked too, it wasn’t so obvious. But she is reduced to saying “Galingan mo.” (Do your best.) YayaDUB then spoke “Para po sa inyo lahat ‘to, Lola.” (This is all for you, grannies.) The triplets are happy all over again. YayaDUB is learning to talk more. It must have been the nerves talking. Causing YayaDUB to alternate between DUBsmash and spoken dialogue these past few episodes. The grannies have given their blessing to YayaDUB and let her go on stage for her number at the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals.
KalyeSerye commentator and one of Eat Bulaga’s founding fathers Joey de Leon introduced her as Maine “YayaDUB” Mendoza. YayaDUB then opened her number with a remix version of Dessert. The Kalye’s Angels sat on front row as they watched their nanny strut onstage. As a dancer, YayaDUB is a natural. Gracefulness and the upbeat/perky attitude melded well. It was an appropriate opening salvo in her EB Dabarkads Pa More entry.
With the help of her Donya Tinidora-inspired ladder numbers. YayaDUB found it easy to transition to her drums routine. As she played the drums, she is accompanied by the Six Bomb. (Finalists from the FHHM competition whose talents are mainly singing.) Later they performed an English cover of Big Bang’s “Fantastic Baby”. So 2 of the KalyeSerye’s signature songs are included in her EB Dabarkads Pa More performance – Dessert and Fantastic Baby.
So close her band performance with a bang. YayaDUB wore a bedtime blindfold. Turns out that she has really practiced her drumming routine well. She can play the drums even with her eyes closed. To top off her performance, she danced with the Six Bomb and other FHHM finalists at the EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals. It got the judges – Jennylyn Mercado, Mike Enriquez and Jessica Soho – impressed.
Jennylyn Mercado found Maine Mendoza very charming in person. She found her dance routines graceful too. Jessica Soho saw the immense potential in Maine Mendoza. Mike Enriquez was the one impressed most with her drumming skills. Being a former drummer himself, he knew if the drumming was authentic or just dubbed. Based on what he had seen in her previous performance at ALDUB Battle For A Cause. Maine’s drumming talent is for real. It’s the realness that she brought to her EB Dabarkads Pa More performance.
The Kalye’s Angels immediately joined YayaDUB onstage for the early celebration. Not for winning the EB Dabarkads Pa More contest. (The results have yet to be announced.) But for accomplishing a rather complicated but neatly arranged number. Lola Nidora was all praises for YayaDUB. “Alam mo, Yaya. Para sa aming mga lola mo, ikaw ang pinakamahusay. Siempre naman. Kami ang nagturo sa yo.” (You know, nanny. For us your grannies, you are the best. But of course. We taught you everything.)
Lola Nidora took the opportunity in the EB Dabarkads Pa More episode to share her wisdom to YayaDUB. “Pero laging tandaan. May panahon sa lahat ng bagay. May panahon para sa pangarap. Panahon para sa pag-ibig. Pero ang pamilya ay panghabang panahon. Ang pamilya ay hindi mapapalitan. Hindi puedeng talikuran. Mapipili mo ang mga kaibigan mo. Pero ang pamilya hindi mo mapipili. Yan ang pinagkaloob sa yo ng Dios. Kaya nandito kami para sa yo.” (Always remember. There is a time for all things. There is a time for the dream. A time for love. But family is forever. The family is irreplaceable. You cannot turn your back on it. You can choose your friends. But you cannot choose your family. That is what God gave you. So we are here for you.)
As Lola Nidora finished her speech, the camera pans again from behind a woman watching the EB Dabarkads Pa More episode on her SUV monitor. It seemed like a deliberate transition now that Lola Nidora is talking about family. When she mentioned how you cannot turn your back on your family, does it mean she cannot turn her back on her own sister Isadora as well? Or is it a premonition that YayaDUB need not choose between her “grannies” and her biological mother? It is tough to say for now as the spying woman’s identity has yet to be confirmed.
Lola Nidora immediately felt uneasy, sensing that someone unwelcome is watching them. Surely she already had a lot of haters from all walks of life still skeptical over YayaDUB’s sudden rise to fame. But before she can even confirm which among the unwelcome is watching them. Lola Nidora told YayaDUB, Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora that they had to go. “Kanina pa yang babaeng yan.” (That woman has been watching us since awhile ago.)
Lola Nidora may have difficulty confirming if the spying woman is Isadora. (Quite a contrast as to how she confirmed Isadora’s identity through a letter.) But paranoid people tend to make flawed judgments. Before something worse happens, she helped YayaDUB out of the stage as Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora kept watch. As YayaDUB and Lola Nidora went off-stage, the truck horn honks signaling the end of the EB Dabarkads Pa More episode.
The mind games have resumed. But this time, Lola Nidora is on the verge of getting beaten at her own game again. If the spying woman is not Isadora, why all the trouble in following YayaDUB and the Kalye’s Angels around town?
