The ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode opens with Allan K and Boss Joey. [Joined minutes later by Ryan Agoncillo.] They saw Lola Nidora sad. Allan K thought she was playing the piano. When the camera panned over what she was staring at, it was Divina’s picture with Lola Nidora. This was when she became “the nanny” a.k.a Yaya DUB of the House of De Explorer.
Donya Tinidora was at the gate. But she refuses to enter the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode unless upbeat music played. It was no longer Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5”. “Ate, naku! Nandito na kami. Matutuwa ka. Ang dami-dami naming pinamili ni Divina.” (Elder sister, oh my! We’re already here. You’d be pleased. Divina bought a lot of items.) The Cuando Cuando Cuando are not with her anyway. Instead she was with Divina. They just got finished shopping in anticipation of Divina’s trip to Italy with Alden.
Divina was so happy. “Lola, ang saya po. Dapat sumama kayo. Namili nga po kami ng panlamig. Scarf. Dress. Yung mga gagamitin ko po sa Italy. Naku!” (Granny, it was so fun. You should have come with us. We bought some clothes for the cold weather. Items that I will us in Italy. Oh my!) Lola Nidora forced a smile at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode.
Donya Tinidora was ecstatic. “Pakita mo! Pakita mo! Pakita mo!” (Show her! Show her! Show her!) Allan K asked Divina. “Excited ka na ba, Divina?” (Are you excited?) Divina replied. “Opo.” (Yes.) Allan K liked Donya Tinidora’s high pitched voice. “Paano ulit yung taas?” (How do you do that high-pitched voice again?) Donya Tinidora obliged at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Yung iba pa.” (Show the rest too.)
Of course, Divina bought some for Lola Nidora too. “Di ko po kayo nakalimutan. Binili ko po kayo ng bestida.” (I haven’t forgotten about you. I bought you a dress.) Donya Tinidora went sarcastic in breaking the fourth wall again. “Wow! Nagamit na niya yan.” (She already wore that.) Lola Nidora ignored Donya Tinidora’s quip at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Maganda. Maganda. Salamat, apo.” (Nice. Nice. Thanks, dear.)
Lola Nidora went straight to her reminder. “Oo nga pala. Yung passport mo. Wag mong kalimutan.” (By the way. Your passport. Don’t forget it.) Divina had the passport down pat prior to the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Lola, darating na po yung passport.” (Granny, the passport is getting done.) Lola Nidora continued with her reminders. “Yung visa. Dumating na ba?” (How about the visa? Has it arrived?) Divina answered almost the same.
Divina still noticed Lola Nidora’s sadness. “Lola, bakit malungkot na naman po kayo?” (Granny, why are you sad again?) Lola Nidora denied ever feeling sad at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Hindi. Hindi naman ako nalulungkot.” (No. I’m not sad.) Donya Tinidora comforted her sister. “Ate, wag ka nang malungkot. Ano ba naman. Wag ka nang malungkot. Just praise the Lord.” (Elder sister, don’t be sad. Like, come on.) Donya Tinidora’s last line was from a charismatic song.
Lola Nidora kept denying it. Donya Tinidora had to mention what she saw. “Halata sa mata mo. Namumuo pa oh.” (It’s obvious in your eyes. Tears are forming.) Lola Nidora downplayed her sister’s observation. “Siguro dala lang ng edad ko.” (It must have come with age.) Divina had to agree with Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Lola, ngumiti na po kayo. Halatang halata po, lola.” (Granny, please smile. You’re obvious.)
Lola Nidora chose to avoid the conversation. “Sandali. May kukunin lang akong ano.” (Wait. I need to get something.) Donya Tinidora sensed how Lola Nidora would rather avoid reminders. “Kanina ka pa dito? Hindi mo pa kinuha kanina?” (You’ve been here since awhile ago? And yet you haven’t gotten it yet?) Allan K observed it too at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Kung kelan kayo dumating ano?” (Just when you arrived, isn’t it?)
Boss Joey had to ask Donya Tinidora himself. “Tinidora, wala ka bang binibilin na galing Italy kay Divina?” (Don’t you have any requests to Divina from Italy?) Donya Tinidora spoke as a matter-of-factly. “Ako? Gusto kong mag-asawa ng Italiano.” (Me? I want to marry an Italian.) Boss Joey then had to clarify his question at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Hindi. Yung mga key chain.” (No. I mean key chains. [Souvenirs.])
Divina was against Donya Tinidora’s marriage plans. “Lola, wag na po yun. Wala pong kasama si Lola Nidora.” (Granny, not that. Lola Nidora had no one with her.) [Still no feedback about Donya Tidora’s absence as of the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode.] Donya Tinidora then made requests. “Yung dinidikit sa ref ha?” (I’d like the stuff that you stick on the fridge.)
Allan K corrected Donya Tinidora. “Magnet?” Divina agreed. “I love Italy. Sige po.” Allan K wasn’t buying Divina’s train of thought at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “I love Italy ba?” (Do you really love Italy?) Divina just smiled. Donya Tinidora told Divina. “Pasensiya ka na ha? Sasamahan ko muna yung matanda dun. Sandali lang ha?” (I’m sorry, dear. I have to accompany the old hag there. Just a moment, okay?)
Donya Tinidora can’t push through walking though. “Wala bang music? E-exit ako.” (Don’t you have some music? I will exit the scene.) Allan K copied some of the sounds from Donya Tinidora’s new entrance theme. Divina was left alone just as sad as Lola Nidora. Alden appeared on the other monitor while DUBsmashing “Happy” by Pharell Williams. At the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Alden was already packing his clothes.
Allan K liked the premise. “Ayan na, Meng. Alone. Dalawa na lang kayo.” (There you go. Just the two of you alone.) Boss Joey quipped. “Impake time. Wag mong kalimutan yung bala ha? Maglagay ka ng bala.” (Packing time. Don’t forget the bullet, okay? Put a bullet.) [As of the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport still hasn’t resolved the bullets-in-suitcases controversy.]
Alden somewhat laughed off Boss Joey’s quip. He then greeted Divina. “Kumusta ka, Divina? Inaayos ko na yung mga gamit ko.” (How are you, Divina? I’m already stuffing my things into the luggage.) Alden is excited for their trip to Italy. Divina doesn’t share his excitement at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Alden sensed it. “Parang hindi. Parang malungkot ka, Divina.” (Doesn’t seem like it. You seem sad, Divina.)
Divina was quick to admit at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy though. “Si Lola kasi eh. Ayun. Ang lungkot pa din niya.” (It’s Granny. She’s still sad.) Alden sounded concerned. “Ano ba nangyari?” (What happened?) Divina replied. “Nalulungkot siya kasi aalis tayo. Magsu-shoot tayo dun. Ayaw niyang mawalay sa ‘tin. Sa ‘kin. Pero okay lang naman kasi na dito tayo mag-shoot eh. Di ko naman alam bakit kailangan pang sa Italy.” (She’s sad that we’re leaving. We’d be shooting there. She didn’t want to be far from us. From me. It’s okay if we’d shoot here instead. I don’t know why it had to be in Italy.)
Alden chose to be pragmatic. “Kasi yun yung nakalagay sa script eh. Dun nakalagay yung setting eh.” (That’s what’s written in the script. The setting is there.) Divina revealed her reservations on their Italian voyage at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Kasi, Alden. Ngayon lang ako malalayo sa mga lola ko. Mahihirapan ako dun.” (You know, Alden. It’s my first time to be away from the grannies. I’d find it difficult to stay there.)
Alden cared for Divina still. “Divina, wag ka nang mag-alala. Nandito naman ako eh. Magtutulungan naman tayong dalawa di ba? Hindi kita pababayaan. Smile ka.” (Don’t worry. I’m here anyway. We will help each other, right? I won’t forsake you. Please smile.) Divina relived her Grade 5 smile at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Alden then DUBsmashed “Ngiti” by Ronnie Liang. He sung some lines too for extra effort.
Divina replied by DUBsmashing “I’ll Be There” by Aiza Seguerra. Alden retorted by DUBsmashing “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain. It was enough to make Divina feel okay at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. But wait. There’s more. Alden said. “Sandali. May joke pa ko.” (Wait. I have a joke.) Divina then asked what it is. Alden then pointed to his forehead. “Anong tawag dito?” (What do you call this?) Divina replied. “Noo.” (Forehead.)
Alden then pointed behind him. “Dito?” (How about this?) Divina had to check what exactly is Alden pointing at. “San ka nakaturo?” (Where are you pointing at?) Alden turned his back to the camera to show Divina. Divina then replied. “Batok.” (Nape.) Alden reacted. “Hindi.” (No.) Divina then had to ask what it is. Alden then revealed his punchline. “YEES.” He even had to explain the joke. “Noo. Yees.” Divina can’t laugh at this part of the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode.
Allan K had to mention the obvious. “Nabwisit si Divina.” (Divina is pissed.) Alden tried to make up for the bad joke delivered at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Meron pang isa. Last na to. Last na to. Ano to?” (I have another one. This would be my last. This would be my last. What’s this?) Alden then started swinging his forefinger up and down. Divina made a wild guess. “Kiti kiti?” (Wrigglers?) Alden said no.
Divina then remembered something similar. A dance move. “Anak neto.” (This dance move’s offspring.) Alden didn’t seem upset once his joke’s punchline was busted at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Alden made a request instead. “Smile ka na. Ikaw. Alam mo talaga lahat ng iniisip ko ha?” (Please smile. You. You really know everything that’s inside my head.)
Divina just replied. “Kasi naman WALLY.. Alden WALLY.” Alden understood the WALLY reference. [That his jokes are WALEY, meaning humorless.] “WALLY? Oo, sige. Wag ka lang malungkot.” (Okay, fine. As long as you’re not sad.) At the ALDUB Ticket to Italy. Divina assured Alden. “Hindi. Okay na ko. Salamat sa joke mo ha?” (No. I’m okay now. Thanks to your joke, okay?) Allan K had to butt in at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Hindi mo ba na-appreciate? Ang ganda!” (Didn’t you appreciate it? It’s cute.)
Divina tried to be nice to Alden. “Hindi. Thank you sa joke mo. Sobrang natawa ako mentally.” (Thanks for your joke. I was laughing in my head.) Divina tried to crack a joke too. Only to forget it at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Upon changing her mind, she excused herself. “Siguro kausapin ko lang muna si Lola.” (I think I have to talk to granny first.) Alden let her. “Sige. Malungkot eh.” (Okay. She’s so sad.)
Divina didn’t enter immediately. She sensed that the sisters were having a heart-to-heart talk. Lola Nidora can’t pretend looking happy. But she could only confide to Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Nabasa ko yung script. Talaga palang kailangan na doon i-shoot sa Italy.” (I read the script. It’s really needed to be shot in Italy.)
Divina didn’t want to interrupt the sisters. She ended up eavesdropping on Lola Nidora. “Di naman dahil gusto lang nila sa Italy. Pero malaking bahagi ng istorya ang kailangan doon maganap.” (It’s not just because they want to be in Italy. But a chunk of the story is needed to be shot there.) It sounded good for Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Bongga naman pala, ate, yung pelikula. Saka first time lang naman nila sa Italy. Kaya wag ka munang mag-ano diyan. Mag-emote-emote diyan.” (It’s fabulous after all, elder sister. And it’s their first time to Italy. So stop emoting there.)
Lola Nidora’s clingy tendencies still exist at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Alam mo naman. Pagkabata ni Divina, nakadikit na siya sa akin. Nang umalis ng bansa ang aking mga anak kasama yung mga apo ko, si Divina lang ang tanging kasama ko. Kaya nahihirapan akong isipin na mawawalay siya sa akin. Pero pangarap niya ito. Pangarap nila ito. At ayoko silang pigilan. Nandito tayo para alagaan ang mga anak. Para pagdating ng panahon, paliliparin sila. Alam mo. May bagwis na siya para makalipad.”
(You already knew this. Since Divina was a little kid, she’s been connected to my hip. When my children left with my grandchildren. Divina was my only companion. So it’s hard for me to think about her being away from me. But this is her dream. This is their dream. And I don’t want to stop them. We are here to take care of our children. So that when the right time comes, we’ll let them fly. She already got wings to fly.)
Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora sat on the next sofa as Lola Nidora continued. “Di ko maaaring pigilan. Ganyan naman tayong mga magulang.” (I can’t stop her. That’s how we are as parents.) Allan K noticed something. “Lumipat ng position?” (They switched places?) Boss Joey’s pop culture reference at the ALDUB Tickets to Italy episode was rather dated. “WEA Twins.” [A dance duo once affiliated with a record label for promotional purposes.]
Divina tried to talk to Lola Nidora. “Lola?” Donya Tinidora faked a tear. “Divina, andyan ka pala.” (We didn’t realize you’re there.) Allan K found Donya Tinidora’s reaction at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy as funny. “Wow! Naiyak pa pala yun ha? Pano? Pano?” (You teared up, huh? How? How?) Donya Tinidora ended up faking a tear again. “Andyan ka pala, Divina.” (You were there all along, Divina.)
Divina thanked Lola Nidora. “Lola, salamat po ha? Kasi kahit nalulungkot po kayo. Kapakanan pa rin po namin ang iniisip nyo. Okay na po yung pangarap namin. Kung ano po ang mas makakabuti sa ‘min.” (Granny, thank you. Because even if you’re sad. You’re still thinking of our welfare. We are fine with our dreams. On whatever is best for us.) At the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Boss Joey just got distracted with Lola Nidora. “Huy! May baller ka pa? Sinong kandidato yan?” (You even wore a baller, huh? With which political candidate is that?)
Donya Tinidora tried to play it safe despite the broken fourth wall. “Tanggalin mo na bago ka pa masuspinde.” (Remove it before you get suspended.) Lola Nidora denied that it’s an election baller. “Hindi kandidato yan. Proverbs.” (It’s not election paraphernalia. It’s about proverbs.) Despite the distraction at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy. Divina kept on comforting Lola Nidora. “Lola, wag na po kayong malungkot. Ngiti na po kayo, lola.” (Don’t be sad. Please smile, granny.)
Lola Nidora apologized for the inconvenience. “Pagpasensiyahan mo na ko, apo. Wala ito. Baka may hangover lang ako.” (Have patience with me, dear. It’s nothing much. It might just be hangover.) It was Donya Tinidora who chose to answer this at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Ate, alam mo. Yung mga ginagawa mo, okay lang sa amin yan. Sanay na sanay na kami sa yo.” (You know, elder sister. We are so used to the things that you do.)
For once, Donya Tinidora’s sarcasm became appropriate. “Alam mo nga. Pati yung pusa ng kapitbahay mo, pinoproblema mo. Hindi naman atin yun, di ba? Okay na sa amin yan. Kilala ka na namin.” (As you already knew. You worry so much including the neighbor’s cat. We don’t even own that. And we’re okay with that. We have known you for so long.) Alden gave his assurance at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode too. “Lola, wag po kayong mag-alala. Di ko naman po pababayaan si Divina eh.” (Granny, don’t worry. I won’t neglect Divina.)
That was all Lola Nidora needed to hear. “Mabuti. Aasahan ko yan, Alden.” (Good. I’be counting on that.) Alden continued at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Opo. Aalagaan ko po siya gaya ng lagi kong ginagawa.” (Yes. I’d take care of her like I always do.) Divina then asked to look at the picture Lola Nidora held. “Lola, patingin po neto. Eto po ba yung picture natin noon?” (Granny, let me see this. Is this our picture then?)
Lola Nidora then turned the frame to show the picture. Divina then recognized the picture. “Nung sumali po tayo sa program sa school, lola?” (When we participated at the school program, granny?) Lola Nidora replied. “Oo. Nung kumanta tayo ng …” (Yes. When we sang …) She forgot the song’s title. The camera focused again on the photo. Allan K can’t help but quip at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Laki ng ulo mo diyan, Meng.” (You’ve got a big head [in that photo].)
Divina liked the photo. “Ganda nyo po dito, lola. Ano pong kinanta natin diyan?” (You’re lovely here, granny. What were we singing at that time?) Lola Nidora’s memory is failing her at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “May roses yata yun.” (I think it has the word “roses” on it.) Divina replied. “Lola, naalala ko na. Tama. Paper Roses po, lola. Lola, kantahan ko kayo para ngumiti na kayo.” (Granny, I remember now. Correct. It’s “Paper Roses”. Let me sing for you so you’d smile now.)
Lola Nidora thought otherwise. “Wag na.” (No need.) Divina insisted. “Lola, maganda pa rin naman ang boses ko tulad noon eh. Gusto nyo po?” (Granny, my voice is still good like then. Would you like me to [sing]?) Allan K then made a request at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Isa ngang ALONE diyan?” (Can you please sing ALONE [by Heart]?) Divina respectfully turned him down. “Medyo nabababaan ko ako dun eh.” (I find that song a little too low.)
Boss Joey then helped Divina start. “Yung I REALIZE.” (Start with “I realize”.) Divina then started singing. “Paper Roses. Paper Roses. Oh how real those roses seem to be. But they’re only imitation. Like your imitation love for me.” At the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. Allan K saw Lola Nidora hide her face behind the picture frame. “Parang lalong naiyak si Nidora. Naiyak ka ba, lola? O natawa?” (Seems like Nidora ended up crying more. Did you cry, granny? Or did you laugh?)
Donya Tinidora ended up answering. “Naiyak. Natuwa sa iyak.” (She cried. She was so happy that she cried.) Lola Nidora had to answer Allan K’s question at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Yan ang nagpapasaya sa ‘kin. Ang marinig si Divina na kantahan ako ng mga paborito kong awitin.” (It’s what makes me happy. Hearing Divina sing me my favorite songs.)
Boss Joey had to correct Divina’s impersonation though. “Nagno-Nora Aunor. Si Vilma kumanta niyan.” (She’s impersonating Nora Aunor [through the finger sign]. But it was Vilma Santos who sang it.) Donya Tinidora had to verify with Boss Joey. “Vilma po ba?” (Was it Vilma?) Boss Joey replied. “Gumaganun-ganun ka eh.” (You’re doing this [hand gesture with the finger pointing up].) Donya Tinidora just made an excuse at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Wala akong panyo.” (I don’t have a hankie.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjaE4YS8TIY
Lola Nidora decided to have a song for Divina too. “Coz if you like the way you look at me. Baby, you should go and love yourself. And if you think that I’m still holding on to something. Baby, you should go and love yourself.” Allan K thought something else. “Parang baligtad.” (Seems like a swap.) He found it odd for Divina to sing the dated song and Lola Nidora to sing the contemporary one. Donya Tinidora liked seeing it at the ALDUB Ticket to Italy episode. “Maganda. Happy dapat. Hindi dapat tayo nag-iisip ng kung anu-ano man.” (Good. We should be happy. We shouldn’t be overthinking.)
