ALDUB The Letter episode opens to a lonely sight. A set with the pink desk and coffee table where Donya Tinidora or Donya Tidora would usually sit. A car arrived briefly after the car horn sounded off. Out came Lola Nidora and YayaDUB. Lola Nidora is still stressed out. The ring has yet to be found. At this point, Lola Nidora looked exhausted. “Nai-stress ako kay Alden at kay YayaDUB kahapon.” (I was stressed with Alden and YayaDUB yesterday.)
YayaDUB didn’t know anymore what to tell Lola Nidora at this point. It caused her to go back to DUBsmash mode at ALDUB The Letter episode. It seems as if no matter what she said. Lola Nidora is upset. Lola Nidora slightly apologized to YayaDUB. “Sori sori sori. Nai-stress ka rin ba? Nagda-DUBsmash ka kapag stressed ka.” (I’m sorry. Are you stressed too? You DUBsmash whenever you’re stresssed.)
Donya Tidora arrived at ALDUB The Letter episode to the tune of Shakira’s “Africa”. She appeased both her sister Lola Nidora and their grand-niece Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. Donya Tidora reminded Lola Nidora how Divina has yet to get used to her hissy fits. “Hindi na siya nasanay.” (She never got used to it.)
Donya Tidora tried to downplay Lola Nidora’s bad mood. “It’s a lovely Tuesday.” Lola Nidora immediately shot down any effort by Donya Tidora to diffuse her bad mood. “Anong lovely? Init init, lovely! No no no no no!” (What lovely? It’s so hot!) Donya Tidora noticed that Lola Nidora refused to get out of that foul mood at ALDUB The Letter episode. “Paksiw na paksiw! Maasim na naman ang pes mo.” (This is so milkfish in vinegar broth! Your face is sour again.)
Donya Tidora later pulled Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB aside. She tried to keep her voice faint so Lola Nidora won’t hear them. “Ano bang nangyari? Nakita na ba yang singsing?” (What happened? Was the ring found?) The mere mention of the ring snapped Lola Nidora into Incredible Hulk mode at ALDUB The Letter episode. Donya Tidora tried to calm her down. Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB pinned the blame on Alden for all of this mishap.
Alden was later shown in ALDUB The Letter episode still searching for the ring. Ryzza Mae and Baste joined in the search. Later, Ryzza Mae exclaimed that she has found the ring. When Alden checked it, it turned out to be candy rings. One Republic’s hit song “Apologize” was playing in the background. But Alden was too preoccupied to DUBsmash.
Lola Nidora may have apologized to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. But she has yet to forgive Alden at ALDUB The Letter. “Tama na yan! Ilang linggo ko na kayong pinagbigyan! Ang kabilin-bilinan ko lang naman. Wag ninyong walain ang singsing! Anong gusto nyo sa kin? Para ano’t naging lola ako?” (Enough of that! I have allowed you for several weeks now! All that I told you is this. Don’t misplace the ring! What do you expect from me? What good am I as your granny?) Lola Nidora is tired of getting angry. But she refused to stop with her sermons to Alden and Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Sa ngayon, maiintindihan nyo rin ako.” (For now, you’d understand me.)
Alden was apologetic. Later he turned his attention to Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB. “Thank you nga pala sa sulat mo ha?” (Thanks for your letter to me.) Apparently he replied to her letter. The riding in tandem delivered it to YayaDUB. Donya Tidora checked the sealed letter first under the sunlight to check for other contents. Lola Nidora reminded the people around her of her presence at ALDUB The Letter episode. “Para ano’t naging lola pa ko kundi ko kayo matuturuan ng tama?” (What good am I as your granny if I can’t teach you the right thing?)
YayaDUB opened the letter. Donya Tidora peeked a little. Lola Nidora snapped at Donya Tidora. “Tidora, wag kang mangingialam ng sulat ng may sulat.” (Tidora, don’t bother somebody else’s letter.) Donya Tidora justified her curiosity. She stood up from her stool with what she saw. “Pagka binasa mo, mapapatayo ka talaga.” (If you read it, it will really make you stand.) Lola Nidora almost rolled her eyes at ALDUB The Letter episode. “Bakit mo binasa?” (Why did you read it?)
KalyeSerye commentator Allan K asked Donya Tidora for some excerpts from Alden’s letter to YayaDUB. “Tidora, ano sabi?” (Tidora, what does it say?) Donya Tidora refused to divulge what little she saw. YayaDUB didn’t read the letter out loud. But she replied by speaking on her mic at ALDUB The Letter episode. “Naiintindihan ko naman, Alden. May mga bagay lang tayong hindi kayang pigilan. May mga bagay na nangyayari na lang.” (I understand, Alden. There are some things that we can’t stop. Some things just happen.) YayaDUB sniffed a little. It indicated that Alden wrote something highly emotional.
Lola Nidora chastised Donya Tidora for prying into Alden’s letter to YayaDUB. “Tigilan mo nga yan! Tidora, tigilan mo nga yan!” (Stop that! Tidora, stop that!) Donya Tidora stood her ground without going confrontational at ALDUB The Letter episode. “Hindi ko mapigilan magbasa ng ganyan. Masarap basahin yung pinakamamahal.” (I can’t stop myself from reading such letters. It feels good to read a beloved’s letter.) She ended up mentioning letters she read in the past that turned out to be chain letters.
Alden still hasn’t found it. Lola Nidora almost resigned to the ring’s fate. Almost. “O ano, Alden? Ano nang gagawin natin?” (So what now, Alden? What are we going to do?) Alden tried to negotiate. “Bigyan nyo po ako ng panahon para mahanap. Sori po.” (Give me enough time to find it. I am sorry.) Finally, he said sorry. It’s no longer an issue whether he deliberately misplaced the ring or not. It’s already ALDUB The Letter episode. And the ring is still not found. Alden apologized for the negligence.
Lola Nidora had some medication taken first before moving with her next instruction to Alden. She had trouble finishing her sentence. Donya Tidora sensed how the stress had taken a toll on Lola Nidora’s blood pressure. A medic had to be called for the meantime at ALDUB The Letter episode. YayaDUB told her to calm down. Lola Nidora snapped back at YayaDUB. “Ayan ka na naman sa kalma mo!” (There you go with your calming efforts again!)
Alden really remembered to apologize at ALDUB The Letter episode. He even apologized to YayaDUB. He called her Maine. “Maine, sori. Di ko pa rin mahahanap.” (Maine, I’m sorry. I still can’t find it.) YayaDUB felt bad for Alden though. “Pano na yan? Naniniwala pa rin akong mahahanap mo yun.” (What now? I still believe that you will find it.) It resulted in another exchange of DUBsmash tracks.
YayaDUB supported Alden. “Kaya natin to, Alden.” (We can do this, Alden.) Alden was half-scared, half-thankful for YayaDUB’s support. “Mahal na mahal kita. Hindi ako magbabago.” (I love you very much. I will never change.) YayaDUB assured Alden of her support. “Hindi tayo susuko. Kaya mo di ba?” (We will not give up. You can do it right?) Alden accepted the challenge. “Oo naman.” (Of course.) YayaDUB entrusted the search on Alden at ALDUB The Letter episode. “Nagtitiwala kmi sa yo.” (We trust you.)
Donya Tidora again pulled YayaDUB aside. She’s frantic at ALDUB The Letter episode. But she spoke softly in a way that Lola Nidora will not hear. “May sasabihin ako sa yo.” (I need to tell you something.) YayaDUB was a little bothered with Donya Tidora’s body movements. “Ano ba yan? Nahahawa na ko sa yo.” (What is it about? I’m starting to act like you.) Donya Tidora then revealed her plan. “Alam mo bang malapit na ang bday ni ate?” (Do you know that elder sister’s birthday is approaching?)
YayaDUB’s face lit up at ALDUB The Letter episode. Donya Tidora continued. “Napagusapan namin ni Tinidora na bigyan siya ng surprise. Mukhang nakalimutan na ng matandang hukluban.” (We of Tinidora has talked about giving her a surprise. Looks like the old hag has forgotten.) YayaDUB is willing to help. “Para naman sumaya si Lola. Pero sana makita na ni Alden yung singsing. Pero kasama po ba si Alden?” (So that granny will be happy. But I hope Alden will find the ring. But is Alden included in the plan?) Tough question. They moved forward to the Sugod Bahay errand while waiting for Lola Nidora’s medical check-up.
After the Sugod Bahay segment. Donya Tidora and YayaDUB found Lola Nidora with her nebulizer. YayaDUB told her to calm down. Lola Nidora was aghast at YayaDUB’s cluelessness. “Hindi nga ako gumagalaw dito eh.” (I’m not even moving here.) YayaDUB got herself preoccupied in another DUBsmash exchange with Alden at ALDUB The Letter episode.
Lola Nidora finished her nebulizer routine to finish her instruction to Alden. “Alden, kahit sumigaw ako o bumulong isa lang ang gusto ko. Hanapin mo ang singsing. Mula pa yan sa mga lola ng lola ng lola namin.” (Alden, whether I yell or whisper I just want one thing. Find the ring. It goes way back from our great-great-grandmother.)
Alden listened intently. Lola Nidora struggled through her words at ALDUB The Letter episode. She was so preoccupied. Not even Boss Jimmy Santos’ presence calmed her. “Dahil kapag hindi mo pa rin mahanap ang singsing. Bibigyan kita ng 24 oras para mahanap ang singsing.” (If you still haven’t found the ring. I will give you 24 hours to find the ring.) The truck horn sounded off. Signaling the end of ALDUB The Letter episode.
Today’s episode has the hashtag #ALDUBTheLetter in reference to the letter from the ALDUB Missing Ring episode. But it was never mentioned again. Would the letter-sender send a more readable letter?
