ALDUB One More Day [What Did We Miss]

#ALDUBOneMoreDay What did we miss? There are loyal inhabitants of the ALDUB Nation that has not yet gotten over the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode. If 12.1 million tweets within 24 hours is not indicator enough of how emotional everyone was last Saturday, check your Twitter feed again. Because we will look back at the euphoria that was set as early as Friday. That was for the ALDUB One More Day episode.

Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora welcomes us on the ALDUB One More Day episode. But not with a little bit of Monica. Donya Tinidora claimed that she did not see a ladder. Despite her protestations about not playing Mambo No. 5, the spinner still spun the record the moment they found a ladder. Donya Tinidora didn’t like the warm , scathing feeling between her legs afterwards.

The car horn sounds off announcing the arrival of Lola Nidora with YayaDUB. They just got finished with the granny’s morning walks. YayaDUB was visibly upset though. Donya Tinidora asked her what’s wrong. YayaDUB replied with Gloc9’s snippet from the track “Bagsakan”. (That was the collaborative effort between Parokya ni Edgar, Francis Magalona and Gloc9) Donya Tidora immediately understood it as YayaDUB being angry. Lola Nidora though explained that YayaDUB forgot to give her the chewy-bles. The alarm did not go off as she expected. Also, she eventually shared YayaDUB’s bigger problem in the ALDUB One More Day episode.

Lola Nidora learned that some neighbors picked a fight with YayaDUB. They were bashing her. YayaDUB’s face could not hide her disgust and irritation. Lola Nidora then advised YayaDUB. “Yaya, ipagdasal mo na lang siya. Ipagdasal na lang ang mga yun ha?” (Nanny, just pray for him/her. Just pray for them ha?) She added. “Wag patulan. Magpakumbaba.” (Don’t rebut. Be humble.) “Basta ikaw, masaya.” (Just as for you, you are happy.) “At sarili lang nila ang sinisira nila.” (And they only have themselves to destroy.) It’s already ALDUB One More Day before the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. And Lola Nidora did not want anything to ruin the mood for her nanny.

YayaDUB expressed her contentment over Lola Nidora’s advice by Dubsmashing Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World”. (Because obviously, it really seems like she’s the only girl in the world of social media. She’s always a hot topic like in the ALDUB One More Day episode.) She was in her stabilized mood when Alden appeared on the other monitor wearing sunnies. Lola Nidora suspected Alden of having sore eyes. (2 of Eat Bulaga’s resident dabarkads, Ruby Rodriguez and Paolo Ballesteros, spend a few days on sick leave due to sore eyes. It’s how rampant sore eyes had become lately.) Alden looked straight into the camera while enlarging his eyes. Both Alden and YayaDUB didn’t want to cancel the date. The ALDUB One More Day is the only day both of them are waiting to get over with before their big day. So as much as possible, no sore eyes.

Donya Tidora immediately went straight for what the ALDUB One More Day episode is all about. A dress rehearsal for the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. She prepared some clothes, make-up and perfume intended to make YayaDUB look and smell her best. Lola Nidora wanted to see the dresses too. Her conservative upbringing (more like outlook) starts to kick in again. Donya Tinidora snapped back at her again. “Wag mo kaming igaya sa yo. Kung anu-ano ang suot mo.” (Don’t pattern us after you. You just wear whatever.)

Donya Tidora picked up one of the dresses that she told the Bernardo Bernardo Bernardo to bring. The outfit she called the LBD. LBD. Stands for “little black dress”. Every girl (or pa-girl) is rumored to have at least one LBD for the special occasion. And a specially prepared first date will always be a special occasion for a woman in love. Lola Nidora didn’t like the color though. YayaDUB crinkled her nose at the dress too. ALDUB One More Day before the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. And the first suggestion for a dress is rather blah.

Donya Tinidora then pulled out her suggested dress for YayaDUB in the ALDUB One More Day episode. A sky-blue silk cheongsam dress. YayaDUB’s face looked worse at the sight of the dress. Donya Tinidora would rather make YayaDUB wear this than the LBD. “Lahat kasi ngayon nakaitim na, di ba? Pag nakaitim kayo, parang nagluluksa kayong lahat. Kailangan iba ka.” (Everyone wears black now right? When you all wear black, it’s like you’re in a funeral. You must be different.) She called this dress though as a “neon blusa” (neon blouse).

Lola Nidora didn’t like the “neon blusa” either. “Date ang pupuntahan ni Yaya. Hindi tai chi.” (Yaya goes to a date. Not a tai chi session.) Donya Tidora thought it looked like a throw pillow. And so she pulled out the next dress suggestion in the ALDUB One More Day episode. A pink dress with thick fuchsia pink ruffles for a skirt. “Hoy! Ginamit ko to nung JS namin ha? Sabi nga nila, simplicity is beauty.” (Hey! I used this dress for our JS Prom okay? As they say, simplicity is beauty.) If this is Donya Tidora’s definition of simplicity, imagine her definition of grand.

So YayaDUB wanted a simple dress after all as Donya Tinidora found out. Donya Tinidora then tried to one-up Donya Tidora in terms of simplicity. She pulled out a duster. YayaDUB hoped that Donya Tinidora is not serious. “Alam mo ang mga lalaki ngayon, gusto nila simple lang. Ang mga gusto nilang mapapangasawa yung mga pambahay. Kaya eto, pambahay.” (You know what men want now, they want it simple. They want to marry someone of housewife material. So here is a housewife material.) YayaDUB just stared at Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB One More Day episode upon hearing her reason behind the suggestion. Lola Nidora almost chastised Donya Tinidora. “Date ang pupuntahan. Hindi maglalaba.” (The destination is a date. Not a laundromat.)

Donya Tidora then pulled out another dress suggestion for YayaDUB. A floral dress with short peach sleeves and a peach ribbon for a belt. The best reaction that Donya Tinidora could muster is “Ew!” Lola Nidora recognized the dress though. She wore it herself in a school program decades ago. Alden simply wrote on his clipboard “Kahit ano isuot mo okay lang. Ikaw lang, sapat na.” (Whatever you wear it okay. You are enough.) Donya Tinidora pulled out her next dress suggestion while the TVJ with Allan K kept reading Alden’s note again.

Lola Nidora inspected the dress. Donya Tidora even spotted some eccentricities that she noticed. “Ano yang 2 butas sa kili-kili?” (What are those 2 holes by the armpit area?) Donya Tinidora rebutted “In and out ang hangin diyan oy! Kasi itong bata na to, pawisin ang kili-kili nito!” (Air goes in and out of that dress! Because this kid has sweaty armpits!) YayaDUB then checked her armpits if they got sweaty again. Donya Tinidora speculated that she put tissue under her shirt to conceal the sweat in the ALDUB One More Day episode.

Donya Tinidora then asked Alden what he would be wearing. As early as the ALDUB One More Day episode, the Kalye’s Angels should get an idea what he would be wearing too. He has a mini-wardrobe. And then he pulled out a leather jacket. It made him look like some action star. Donya Tinidora suggested against it. “Wag yan! Para kang Hagibis diyan!” (Not that! You’d look like some Hagibis boyband member!) Donya Tidora agreed with her.

Alden then pulled out a charcoal grey blazer. Donya Tinidora found the blazer too long though. Alden didn’t mind taking it off. The blazer was too thick. It would get him sweaty in no time. He removed his blazer and picked another one for the ALDUB One More Day episode.. He went behind his mini-wardrobe first before going under it to change. Alden was under the wardrobe when it was shown that his shirt is removed. YayaDUB was shocked/surprised/delighted/feeling all of the mixed emotions possible to express on her face. As Alden tried to change, YayaDUB tried to cover her eyes.

Apparently, YayaDUB did not cover her eyes enough. So the grannies tried to covering them. YayaDUB was visibly trying to outdo them but to no avail. Senator Tito Sotto asked the grannies why bother covering YayaDUB’s eyes. Donya Tinidora reasoned that YayaDUB is too young to see a half-naked man. Before Donya Tinidora and Donya Tidora went numb, Alden stood up. He revealed the white shirt he wore with the matching jacket. The white shirt has a tie-dyed hem close to Alden’s waist. The jacket was a black and medium gray ensemble perfect to impress even YayaDUB’s folks. Lola Nidora suggested that Alden wear Duhrizz’s shorts. Donya Tinidora scolded YayaDUB for her enlarged eyes when she thought Alden would take his shirt off in the ALDUB One More Day episode. “Pumoporma pa lang. Ang laki na ng mata nito!” (He is just about to dress up. Her eyes widened up!)

The camera switched back to the KalyeSerye commentators while Alden changed. Alden was then seen wearing the same white shirt. But he changed into a deep red wine-colored jacket. Lola Nidora found it enough for the date. When Alden wore the sunnies again, Lola Nidora thought it’s the perfect attire while massaging someone. (Translation: He looked like a blind masseuse.) Donya Tinidora then concluded that with all these suggestions, it doesn’t matter what you wear. What’s important, according to Donya Tidora, is that you get bathed prior to getting dressed. In the ALDUB One More Day episode, Mr. Joey de Leon reiterated that Alden and YayaDUB would be bathing separately. (Just to ward off some dirty minds, you!)

Donya Tidora then moved on to checking YayaDUB’s nails. No nail color, just polish. Then they checked her breath. Lola Nidora said that it smelled like soup. Donya Tinidora then lectured YayaDUB on hygiene. And so in the ALDUB One More Day episode, she suggested a lesson on good manners and right conduct (GMRC). Donya Tidora noted “Hindi yung pag nakita mo agad si Alden, tatalunin mo agad si Alden.” (Not because you saw Alden, you’d jump right at Alden.) Lola Nidora agreed. She emphasized her main condition for allowing the date. No touch! Since YayaDUB can’t still talk. Donya Tidora commented on this provision. Not even a handshake?

Lola Nidora relayed how it was the custom when they were young. Donya Tinidora mentioned how different it was then compared to today. Lola Nidora insisted on her condition. “Kelangan siempre demure.” (You need to be demure, of course.) What kind of first date would this be if there would be first touch? Whatever happened to the “getting to know you” phase? Donya Tinidora somewhat agreed. Mr. Joey de Leon then mentioned how YayaDUB should learn dining etiquette too in the ALDUB One More Day episode.

First off, YayaDUB was told not to laugh with her mouth wide open. She laughed as if there is no more tomorrow. (Oh good Lord!) Mr. Joey de Leon was quick to comment. “Hoy! Turuan nyo! Wag ganun!” (Hey! You teach her! Not like that!) Donya Tinidora was blunt enough to admit her thoughts. “Hindi naman kami sa kanya nagwo-worried eh. Kay Alden. Baka umayaw.” (We’re not worried about her. It’s about Alden. He might backout.) Lola Nidora adviced YayaDUB. “Yaya, ang sabi, tawa. Hindi hikab.” (Nanny, they said laugh. Not yawn.) In the ALDUB One More Day episode, Donya Tinidora told YayaDUB that her laugh should be poised. If she can’t help but laugh, suppress it. Just let the shoulders do the laughing without having to open her mouth.

Lola Nidora suggested covering her mouth while laughing. YayaDUB can’t help but laugh when she is exhilarated. Donya Tinidora considered it a good ploy though. YayaDUB can check if her breath stunk through a hand over her mouth. And speaking of the mouth, the ALDUB One More Day served as a way to teach YayaDUB table manners. The proper way to sit and the proper way to eat are taught to YayaDUB at the ALDUB One More Day episode.

First, soup. Soup served by one of the Cuando Cuando Cuando is nido soup with “pugo” (quail eggs). Lola Nidora protested. “First date? Pugo kaagad?” Donya Tinidora reminded everyone that this is just a dry run. So they got away with the nido soup with “pugo”. Next, look straight to the eyes of the person you are dining with. Donya Tinidora then scolded YayaDUB for the way that she smiled. “Wag ganyan! Tinatakot mo naman eh!” (Not like that! You’re scaring him!) Bossing Vic Sotto suggested “Bigyan mo kasi ng tinitingnan.” (Give her something to look at.) Donya Tinidora then told the Cuando that served the soup in the ALDUB One More Day episode.

The dining lessons are starting to get on YayaDUB’s nerves. She doesn’t mind being prim and proper. But dropping the quail egg at the ALDUB One More Day episode for the sake of etiquette? Donya Tinidora then skipped to the next part of the dining lessons. Since the soup already has quail eggs, they pretended that it is the main course. They then asked YayaDUB how she usually chew her food. All grannies were horrified at seeing her chew her food. “Ano ka ba naman, Yaya? Pati nguya mo nagda-Dubsmash ka na!” (What’s wrong with you, nanny? Even the way you chew goes Dubsmash mode!) YayaDUB is frustrated but she didn’t snap at the ALDUB One More Day episode.

Donya Tidora tried to appease YayaDUB. “Yan ang tinatawag na proper decorum. Kasi ang mga date ngayon, pakape-kape na lang. Mas maganda yung kumakain kayo together. Kasi diyan nyo makikilala ang isa’t isa.” (That’s what you call proper decorum. Dates lately involve just coffee. It’s much better when you are dining together. Because that’s when you get to know one another.) Lola Nidora agreed. Donya Tinidora reminded YayaDUB though to keep it natural. Just don’t overdo it. The ALDUB One More Day episode end up becoming the  episode with funniest and heart-warming messages so far.

Lola Nidora kept the reminders coming to YayaDUB. “Iba ang crush sa pag-ibig. Tandaan mo yan. At mahalin mo ang sarili mo. Sa ganyang paraan magiging handa ka ring magmahal ng iba.” (Crush/Infatuation is different from love. Remember that. And love yourself. That way you will be prepared to love someone else.) She then turned to Alden. “Makinig ka sa Lola. Kung iibig ka, ibibigay mo na ang sarili mo sa iibigin mo .” (Listen to granny. If you will fall in love, you will give yourself to the person you fall in love with.)

Back to YayaDUB. Lola Nidora continued. “Pero kung masasaktan ka, dapat bumangon ka. Pag umiyak, punasan mo ang luha mo at tumayo ka ulit. At pagtayo mo kelangan mas malakas at mas matapang ka.  Tandaan mo yan. Iba ang laban ng pagibig. Maging handa ka. Bata ka pa. Marami ka pang pagdadaanan.” (If ever you would get hurt, you must get up. And upon getting up you need to be stronger and braver. Remember that. The fight for love is different. Brace yourself. You’re still young. You have more to experience.)
