#ALDUBMostAwaitedDate The ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode scored more Tweets than Twitter can handle. It wasn’t clear if the Twitter fail whale appeared. But there were minutes were Twitter froze. Everyone was looking forward for new photos. Preferably photos that need no photoshopping anymore.
YayaDUB was shown preparing for the date by choosing which dress to wear. Most of the dresses were handpicked by Donya Tidora herself. She’s the self-appointed fashion expert among the Kalye’s Angels. With some of her hair held up by a couple of rollers, some wavy strands would fall on the rest of her hair. She is already pretty. But her appearance in the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode would be much better than her appearance at the ALDUB 2nd Monthsary.
As YayaDUB is shown before hopping into Lola Nidora’s car, her dress seemed like something that Lola Nidora picked instead. Preppy looking, the dress has a floral design with the buttons closed up to her neck. The sleeves were long enough to cover her down to her wrists. Had it been a blouse, you would think of it as a school teacher’s uniform. So Lola Nidora had a hand in choosing YayaDUB’s dress after all in the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode after all.
There was some regret on Lola Nidora that she allowed the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. Too late on her part though. YayaDUB managed to give Lola Nidora her medication though before getting in the car. With the way Lola Nidora’s medicine kit looked like, it seemed as if there is a different medicine per day. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora reminded YayaDUB of everything they taught her. The right way to smile. The right way to yawn. The lady-like way to laugh and any behavior that would avoid scaring Alden away. (It seems as if it’s too late to scare Alden away though.)
Donya Tinidora can’t keep her mouth shut upon seeing YayaDUB’s dress. “Ang ganda ng suot ni Yaya! Mamantelin!” (Yaya’s dress is so pretty! So table cloth material!) Lola Nidora reminded YayaDUB to contain herself. Never rush things since both YayaDUB and Alden had ruined her trust before. Also, YayaDUB had to return to Lola Nidora after 30 minutes. Yes, the ALDUB Most Awaited Date should only last for 30 minutes. And that Alden should not attempt to wait for YayaDUB at the parking lot. Lola Nidora still has the blueprint for all exits and entrances at the Broadway Centrum. So he shouldn’t push it.
Then she turned to Donya Tinidora. She tried to restrain the way she gave instructions to YayaDUB. She made it sound as if she’s not going back anymore from the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. Donya Tinidora snapped back at her. “Ikaw kasi, ang naranasan mo, last date agad.” (Your problem is your date is immediately the last date.) Some fans interpreted that as a date that quickly transitioned into marriage. There wasn’t enough time to discuss how dry Lola Nidora’s marriage turned out to be. One of the Rogelios drove for YayaDUB. Two of the newer Rogelios guarded Alden back in Broadway Centrum per Lola Nidora’s instructions.
Donya Tinidora added reminders this time to Alden. “Alagaan mo yung bata ha? Alagaan mo si Yaya.” (Take care of the kid. Take care of the nanny.) Lola Nidora didn’t like the tone of Donya Tinidora’s reminders. “Kinakabahan ako sa mga bilin nyo.” (Your reminders get me nervous.) Donya Tinidora snapped back at her “Ikaw nga. Ang dami mong bilin. Hanggang ngayon andito ka pa eh.” (Look at you. You have so many reminders. And you’re still alive.) Lola Nidora was so nervous. She looked like on the brink of crying. YayaDUB is not getting married. She is just going to the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. The ALDUB Most Awaited Date hung in the balance as Lola Nidora’s car carrying YayaDUB hit the road.
The resident dabarkads doing the KalyeSerye commentary are the Eat Bulaga founding fathers Senator Tito Sotto, Bossing Vic Sotto and Mr. Joey de Leon. They are joined by fellow dabarkads Allan K. They openly admired Alden’s appearance for the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. While fans already expected this to be a conservative date, Alden put on a navy blue blazer on his long sleeved shirt. Nothing too fancy. Just enough to look special for YayaDUB on their first date. Among the KalyeSerye’s default commentators, only Mr. Joey de Leon and Allan K has Twitter accounts. Boss Joey then became the reference person for Bossing Vic and Senator Tito for the Twitter count for the hashtag #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate.
After Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora were done with the Sugod Bahay segment, they can’t find Lola Nidora. It got the hosts at the Eat Bulaga studio concerned too. It is the ALDUB Most Awaited Date. And who knew what power-tripping scheme is Lola Nidora up to? Donya Tinidora was blunt in saying “Kinakabahan nga ako, Joey. Tuwing nawawala siya, may nangyayari.” (I am nervous, Joey. Every time she disappears, something happens.) Donya Tidora commented “Mataba utak nun.” (She has so much material in her brain.)
And so YayaDUB finally arrived at Broadway Centrum. Donya Tinidora, ever mistrustful of Lola Nidora yelled at her. “Yaya, tumingin ka sa taas! Baka may plywood na naman!” (Nanny, look up! There might be a slab of plywood again!) You then realize that Lola Nidora’s knowledge of the Broadway Centrum backstage area rivals the Opera Ghost’s knowledge of the Paris Opera House. She has trapped Alden before in the ALDUB Battle For A Cause episode. Truth be told, Alden had been very lenient on Lola Nidora simply because of her advanced age. Then again, the ALDUB Most Awaited Date showed that Alden would rather be respectful than spiteful of Lola Nidora’s overbearing control over YayaDUB.
YayaDUB did not expect the Broadway Centrum to be that complicated. She found though the same covered plywood that blocked her from Alden. She then left a note on it in reply to notes that Alden wrote. Alden can’t get to where she is as the Rogelios are guarding him. Then Lola Nidora appeared on a separate screen revealing another challenge for the two. Yes, the challenge applied to YayaDUB as well. Lola Nidora created a mini-maze for Alden and YayaDUB to conquer. The ALDUB Most Awaited Date made the ALDUB nation wait for so much longer. Thanks to Lola Nidora’s capricious whims.
Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora ended up finding Lola Nidora in one of the houses nearby. They joined her to keep an eye on whatever she may be up to. Lola Nidora almost cancelled the ALDUB Most Awaited Date at the last minute. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora though were concerned that YayaDUB’s inability to keep herself poised would scare Alden away. And so another compatibility test  was set. [Episodes that superseded the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode would be recapped later. There is still Sunday to make up for lost time.] They need to complete 5 bases. At the end of the road is the dining table where Alden and YayaDUB will face each other.
For the first compatibility question. “Babe, love or honey?” Lola Nidora still didn’t believe that Alden and YayaDUB are officially a couple. She openly expressed this in the ALDUB 2nd Monthsary episode. So once they physically become a couple, what would be their choice of endearment? Turns out that they both wanted LOVE. Both Alden and YayaDUB then stepped on the first base. For the second compatibility question. “Eyes or lips?” Both of them answered LIPS. The ALDUB Most Awaited Date might be cut short with the maze that Lola Nidora prepared.
Some of the bases shown in the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode contained quotes. The KalyeSerye commentators chose Bossing Vic to read each pit stop that came with a message. “Love is sweet when it’s new. But it’s sweeter when it’s true.” Boss Joey then announced that the hashtag #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate has finally reached 8.1 million tweets. And the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode has yet to end.
The three grannies took turns in asking questions. Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora found Lola Nidora’s questions deliberately hard. Bossing Vic then reminded Lola Nidora to choose her questions carefully in the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode. Otherwise she will earn the wrath of the ALDUB Nation. The Eat Bulaga studio audience cheered when he said this. He may not have any social media accounts whatsoever. But he knew the power of mob mentality online. (So be careful of the Vic Sotto accounts that you follow online. Either they are posers or parody accounts.) As Lola Nidora contemplated on the next question, Bossing Vic read the next quote on one of the bases. “Sa pag-ibig walang malalim na dagat. Sa pag-ibig walang malayong landas.” (In love no sea is too deep. In love no destination is too far.)
Lola Nidora then asked “Ring or necklace?” Alden’s answer then to take longer than it should. He tends to draw images on his clipboard too. Both Alden and YayaDUB then answered RING. This put the ALDUB couple on the next base. Another quote was found posted on the next base. Bossing Vic then obliged when asked to read it. “Words can’t say what love can do.” On another base, he read “When someone else’s happiness is your happiness, iba na yan (that is something else)”.
The ALDUB couple though had different tastes. When Lola Nidora’s question was “Sweet or spicy?” YayaDUB had a different answer to that of Alden. Only Lola Nidora happily danced for the couple’s failure to meet minds. To cut short her celebration, everyone decided to move on to the next question. “Puso o isip?” (Heart or mind?) Alden answered “Pareho”. He took to heart everything that Lola Nidora told her. YayaDUB answered “Both”. And the ALDUB Nation in the Eat Bulaga studio erupted in applause again.
Lola Nidora then asked “Madilim or maliwanag?” (Dark or bright?) It sounded like a question she pulled out of her ass. It produced the second incompatible answer from Alden and YayaDUB. The Eat Bulaga audience’s boo can be clearly heard from the background. The tweet count has yet to reach 10 million. But Bossing Vic already reminded of the number of tweeters. They would be after Lola Nidora for making it hard for Alden and YayaDUB in the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode.
Donya Tidora then took it upon herself to throw the clincher question. She made it deliberately easy to annoy Lola Nidora and appease the crowd that booed. She then asked “Now or Forever?” Chicken feed level of easy. Both Alden and YayaDUB answered FOREVER. And the end of the bases has been reached. Alden and YayaDUB are now ready to sit down on the dining table.
It might be the longest table ever prepared for a first date. Lola Nidora really did not trust Alden and YayaDUB enough to keep their promise. The table was so long. It made most wedding reception tables short by comparison. Alden and YayaDUB tried to get near to each other. But they didn’t touch. After Lola Nidora egged them to renege on their promise. both sat down for the date. [The camera could catch them talking to each other from the opposite ends of the table. Only Alden heard her voice in person as no mics are around for the ALDUB Most Awaited Date.]
Alden and YayaDUB managed to share a meal despite the distance between them. YayaDUB ended up forgetting some of the manners that Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora taught her. She remembered covering her mouth though when she could no longer suppress her laughter. Just when the fun is getting started. YayaDUB’s alarm goes off. She forgot to leave behind the medicine kit for Lola Nidora. Lola Nidora then understood why she felt weak in the ALDUB Most Awaited Date episode. Alden and YayaDUB were stuck in a rut all of a sudden. Alden can’t stop her. But he can’t touch her either. YayaDUB wanted to stay. But she hasn’t talked that much with Alden yet. She had to leave. By the time Lola Nidora changed her mind. YayaDUB was already at the Broadway Centrum exit.
Donya Tinidora chastised Lola Nidora. She accused the latter of deliberately forgetting to ask YayaDUB to leave her medicine kit behind. Lola Nidora could only say that her condition wasn’t that bad after all. Donya Tinidora mentioned how YayaDUB really can’t turn her back on her. She is such a nice girl. She is willing to leave her date to maintain her responsibilities with Lola Nidora. YayaDUB was such in a rush that she left her clipboard on the table. It was all Alden could have for now. YayaDUB was then shown in the car. As the camera panned away from where YayaDUB sat, the sound of a car crash was heard in the background. All that Lola Nidora could do is scream.
What happened to YayaDUB this time around? It seemed as if bad luck followed the poor couple on a weekly basis. Just when the relationship has secured 3 eyeball events. YayaDUB is in peril again. And it produced more speculative tweets from the ALDUB Nation. What’s the worst that could happen from here? Tune in to Eat Bulaga. Monday to Saturday at noontime.
