#ALDUBMissingYou Watching the ALDUB Missing You made me backread on the ALDUB Getting Closer episode recap. That was the episode that clarified how Divina ended up with Lola Nidora. Divina’s biological mother was eventually mentioned in ALDUB The Revelation episode before it was temporarily shelved. (With Alden not around, writers found the proper opportunity to get this angle resolved.)
The ALDUB Missing You episode served as an opportunity for Lola Nidora and YayaDUB to thank the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. While they managed to attend the awarding ceremonies last 11 October 2015. Lola Nidora’s thank you speech was delivered live on the ALDUB Missing You episode. YayaDUB was also very thankful for the award. She ended up speaking for herself in thanksgiving.
KalyeSerye commentator “Bossing” Vic Sotto was happy to hear YayaDUB speak. “Bigyan kaya natin ng award ito para araw-araw nagsasalita.” (We should give her an award to that she speaks everyday.) YayaDUB still gets perpelexed at hearing herself talk like what happened in the ALDUB Missing You episode. It made her forget a little about EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals. Not that she’s bitter or anything. (Meeting Alden made her nicer. Even in his absence, the bitterness is gone.)
Lola Nidora then told everyone listening how in her time. She could have won against Paolo Ballesteros in the talent department. “Nung kabataan ko, kayang-kaya kong talunin si Paolo. Kahit sa alambre kaya kong tumulay. Ngayon hindi ko na makita yung alambre.” (In my youth, I can defeat Paolo. I can cross even over wires. Now I can’t even see the wire.) But she can still strut to Dawin’s “Dessert” at the ALDUB Missing You episode. Or so she thought. Later she’s complaining of hip pains she forgot existed.
Later further in the ALDUB Missing You episode, she recounted the days when she joined a talent competition using her singing talent. She went to the grassy part of their spot on the road to demonstrate her “talent”. She sang the song from The Man of La Mancha “The Impossible Dream”. After accidentally touching some crap on the grass while recounting her story, she went back on her original spot to demonstrate the star part of her winning number. Upon singing the part “To reach the unreachable star”, she raised her star staff up high.
If Paolo’s performance is labeled “buwis-buhay” (death-defying). Lola Nidora considered her performance as “buwis-buhay” too. “Mula Aurora Blvd ginapang ko yan.” (I crawled all the way from Aurora Blvd.) Bossing Vic then concluded that Lola Nidora won through sympathy votes. “Nanalo sa awa!” (She won through sympathy.) Bossing Vic can’t help but be occasionally creeped out at Lola Nidora’s voice. [She sounds a little like that woman from The Grudge in the ALDUB Missing You episode.]
Shortly, Donya Tinidora arrived with a little black forest cake on hand. Her dance routine was just short in the ALDUB Missing You episode. “Ate! Ate! Congratulations!” (Elder sister! Elder sister! Congratulations!) She then gave her congratulatory gift to YayaDUB. YayaDUB happily opened the gift and revealed a Sunday dress. Donya Tinidora then suggested that she should join next year’s EB Dabarkads Pa More Grand Finals.
Bossing Vic and fellow KalyeSerye commentator Allan K thought that it was a “duster” (home dress). YayaDUB had mixed feelings about the gift. Lola Nidora immediately sensed the hesitation on YayaDUB’s part. “Binili yan ni Tinidora para sa yo. Yung pension niya, binawasan niya para mabili yan sa yo.” (Tinidora bought it for you. She spent part of her pension to buy that for you.)
Donya Tinidora’s source of income was never revealed even in the ALDUB Missing You episode. So the effort she exerted in spending for YayaDUB’s gift is really worth commending and thanking for. YayaDUB then thanked Donya Tinidora for the gesture. “Salamat po, Lola.” (Thank you, granny.) Donya Tinidora was happy at YayaDUB’s appreciation. “Yan ang maganda sa mga bata ngayon. Nagpapasalamat kahit ano ibigay.” (That’s what’s good about kids today. They are thankful for whatever you give them.)
Baste then appeared on the other monitor with a bar of chocolate at the ALDUB Missing You episode. The chocolate’s name was covered with a piece of paper with Baste’s squiggles. Baste and YayaDUB then had an exchange of squiggles on a clipboard. Donya Tinidora was amused with the communication. “Nag-steno pala ito.” (So they know stenography.) Alden was still not around for the ALDUB Missing You episode. Having Baste made YayaDUB miss him less.
Baste’s age could be estimated as below 5. His songs are limited to “Thinking Out Loud” and other ALDUB-related ditties. And clearly, he could only imitate the things he sees Alden do. From the DUBsmash attempts to writing on the clipboard. But clearly, he cannot write words yet. And that’s fine with YayaDUB. Moments like these in the ALDUB Missing You episode served as playtime for her.
Lola Nidora enjoyed playtime with Baste too. She tries to play along to him through peek-a-boo games. [“Bulaga” is the local term used when playing peek-a-boo with kids. “Bulaga” is also used in situations that involved shocking people. The story on how the longest running variety show in Philippine history got “Eat Bulaga” as its title is a topic best addressed in a separate article soon.] Good thing in the ALDUB Missing You episode. Baste is less scared of Lola Nidora.
Still, the ALDUB Missing You episode is no different from other episodes where Lola Nidora is paranoid. But at least this time around, she knew the source of that paranoia. It’s Isadora. Finding her is the idea of Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora based on ALDUB The Revelation episode. Lola Nidora wanted no part in that search. And she wanted nothing to do with Isadora now. If ever there was one person among the Kalye’s Angels that can verify Isadora’s identity best, it’s Lola Nidora.
Donya Tinidora is still skeptical. Seems like she’s aware of the footage collected about the spying woman. “Hindi naman siguradong babae nga ang sumusunod sa atin. Hindi nga nagpapalit ng damit.” (It’s not even sure if the person spying on us is a woman. That person hasn’t even changed clothes.) From afar, the spying woman was shown filming them from where she stood. She even zoomed in on YayaDUB, Lola Nidora and Donya Tinidora for a closer look. Still, no face is shown in the ALDUB Missing You episode.
Knowing Lola Nidora. Donya Tinidora entertained the thought of having other suspects in the ALDUB Missing You episode. The diary has yet to be recovered. “Baka naman yung mga naniningil sa yo. Yung naniningil sa libro.” (It might be those who were extorting you. Asking ransom for the diary.) Donya Tinidora wasn’t all negative about the attention either. What if it’s just the fans? What if it’s just for Halloween?
Lola Nidora was quick to dismiss any of the fans as suspects. “Alam mo, mababait ang mga yun, gumagawa pa sila ng projects. Gaya nung Red Cross. Yung mga nagdo-donate ng dugo.” (You know, they are very nice. They even organize projects. Like the blood donation drive for Red Cross.) She insisted though that the woman with the oily/shiny hair was the one spying on them. Lola Nidora was so nervous in the ALDUB Missing You episode. She asked for her blood pressure to be checked. The medics then came in to have her BP checked.
Donya Tinidora suggested that she go to their Sugod Bahay errand. Lola Nidora refused to be left alone. She must have remembered how she lost YayaDUB in the ALDUB Battle for a Cause episode because she’s focused somewhere else. “Sasama ako! Kesehodang mag-200 pa ang BP ko!” (I will go with you! So be it if my BP shoots up to 200!) Lola Nidora mustered enough strength to go with Donya Tinidora and YayaDUB to the ALDUB Missing You episode’s Sugod Bahay winner.
After delivering the prizes, a phone was heard ringing in the ALDUB Missing You episode. It was YayaDUB’s phone. Donya Tinidora was again skeptical. This time, she’s skeptical about YayaDUB answering the phone. YayaDUB is still not in control of her voice. YayaDUB managed to answer the phone though. While her replies were limited to “Opo”, later her voice broke.
Donya Tinidora got worried enough to take away the phone from YayaDUB. The line was dead once she tried to talk to whoever is on the line. She looked at YayaDUB and found her scared. YayaDUB clung to Lola Nidora in fear. Lola Nidora then asked her who was it anyway? “Si Isadora po.” (It’s Isadora.) Seems like YayaDUB is gaining control of her voice in the ALDUB Missing You episode.
Could Isadora have known that her daughter’s voice is starting to get heard hence her decision to come back? How did she learn of YayaDUB’s number? Seems like the Eat Bulaga creative department is using Alden’s absence to resolve hanging angles in the hit KalyeSerye. But unlike the arrival of Donya Tidora and Donya Tinidora. Isadora’s arrival might not happen on a weekday. Might. It’s still uncertain. Then again, what other major event is the ALDUB Nation waiting for Saturday?
