The big box was Lola Nidora’s ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift for Alden and Divina. Lola Nidora was joined by Donya Tinidora and Yaya Pak with Rogelio in opening the box. “Matagal kong pinag-isipan ito, Alden. Maine. Nararapat ko nang sabihin ito sa inyo.” (I’ve thought about this long and hard. Alden and Maine. It’s only appropriate that I finally tell you this.)
Lola Nidora asked Yaya Pak’s help in opening the box at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Mabuti pa. Tulungan nyo akong buksan ang kahon.” (Might as well. Help me in opening the box.) Alden and Divina then tried to untie the ribbon. Yaya Pak was excited herself. Donya Tinidora was a little obsessive compulsive in trying to untie the ribbon. Lola Nidora just told her. “Hayaan mo, Tinidora. Sa kanila yan.” (Let them. It’s theirs.)
Allan K a.k.a. Miss A has a mock spoiler. “Alam ko yan. Biik yan.” (I know that. It’s a piglet.) Donya Tinidora tried to scare Divina in opening the box at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Baka matuklaw ka, hija.” (That [creature] might bite you.) Donya Tinidora somewhat implied it to be a venomous snake. All that Alden could dig at first were confetti. It was a thrilling moment at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode.
Alden finally pulled out his first find at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. His assumption was a little exaggerated though. “Susi. Lola, bibigyan nyo po ba kami ng kotse?” (Keys. Granny, are you giving us a car?) Donya Tinidora recognized the ring of keys that Alden pulled out. “Kanina ko pa hinahanap ang susi ng mansion. Nandiyan lang pala.” (I’ve been looking for the mansion keys. It’s just there.)
Lola Nidora realized the package mix-up. “Pano napunta yang susi na yan?” (How did that ring of keys get there?) As it turns out. Donya Tinidora had a night life. “Ang duplicate, sa akin. Pag umuuwi ako ng gabi. Meron ako. Kaya pala nawala.” (I have the diplicate. So whenever I come home late. I have them. No wonder they’re missing.) Lola Nidora told Alden and Divina to keep digging in the box at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode.
Divina then pulled out a roll of paper secured with a thin ribbon. Alden speculated at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Uy! Titulo!” (A [land] title!) Donya Tinidora was reminded more of a diploma than a title. “Hindi ka na a-attend ng graduation. Dito na.” (You will not attend a graduation anymore. You’ll just receive [your diploma] here.) Divina then opened the paper to check.
Divina was half-shocked half-amused with what she saw. “Wedding gown?” Alden was just as shocked. “Lola, ipapakasal nyo na?” (Granny, you’re marrying her off?) Lola Nidora checked the paper too. She recognized it as Yaya Pak’s sketch. “Yaya Pak, pambalot mo ‘to.” (This is your wrapper.) Yaya Pak apologized for the other gift mix-up at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Sori po.” (I’m sorry.)
At the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. Donya Tinidora ended up chiding Lola Nidora though. “Kunyari, ayaw mong ipakasal. Ikakasal din pala. May wedding gown.” (You made us believe that you don’t want them wed. You’d like to get them wed after all.) Lola Nidora protested. “Hindi yan!” (Not that!) Alden somewhat chided Lola Nidora too. “Kayo, lola.” (Please, granny.)
The box contained Lola Nidora’s gift. But 2 mix-ups has occurred already at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. That got Donya Tinidora thinking. “Kanina naligo ako. Baka diyan ko naitapon.” (I took a bath awhile ago. I might have dumped [my used clothes] there.) Divina and Alden pulled out the next item from the box. “Baby!” It was a baby doll complete with a pacifier.
Divina was almost nervous upon asking Lola Nidora. “Lola, bakit may …?” (Granny, why is there a [baby]?) Allan K a.k.a. Miss A thought the situation at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary escalated quickly. “Baby agad?” (So soon?) Lola Nidora was aghast. “Hindi ito.” (Not this.) Even Bossing Vic was surprised. “Ano yan, lola?” (What is THAT, granny?)
Donya Tinidora’s suspicion of Lola Nidora went a little too sinister even by the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode’s standards. “Sabi ko na nga ba eh. Minsan sumasakit ang balakang ko. Yan ang ginagamit mo eh.” (I knew it. Sometimes my hip aches. You’re using that [for witchcraft purposes against me].) Lola Nidora recognized the baby doll though. “Eto yung sa belen natin dun sa mansion.” (It’s from our Nativity Set at the mansion.) Strike 2 for Yaya Pak for the gift mix-up. “Namali lang po kami ng lagay diyan.” (We just put it there in error.)
Divina was hesitant to go on. “Meron pa po ba, lola?” (Is there another one, granny?) Alden still wanted to dig deeper in the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift box. “Last. May isa pa sa loob eh.” (Last chance. There’s another one inside.) Lola Nidora’s nerves are getting the better of her. “Ano ba naman kayo? Ninenerbyos ako sa inyo. Baka kung ano ang sumunod diyan ha?” (What are you doing? I get nervous with you. Something else might come out.)
Divina paused for awhile. “Wait lang po. Si Alden kasi, pawis na pawis.” (Please wait. Alden is all sweaty.) She left the box and went beside Alden to wipe the sweat off his forehead. She DUBsmashed again after returning to her spot beside the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift box. Alden DUBsmashed in return.
Donya Tinidora had to interrupt Alden’s DUBsmash at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Sandali. Pano nyo makukuha? Magkahawak kayong dalawa.” (Wait. How will you get it? You’re holding hands.) In the previous digs, Alden and Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB were pulling out the items together. It was a minor interruption in their search for Lola Nidora’s gift. Both Alden and Divina just laughed it off.
Alden tried searching again. None of them removed the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift box lid. So that’s a tip of how much of a major surprise this is. Alden somewhat touched something. “May isa pa po akong nakapa sa loob.” (I could feel another one inside.) Seems like Divina dug it too. “Medyo matigas po.” (It’s a little hard.) Donya Tinidora sounded perplexed upon hearing the word “matigas”. Like something wooden.
Divina was trying to dig it again when she told Alden. “Kamay ko yan. Ano ba?” (That’s my hand. What’s wrong with you?) Alden had to apologize. “Sorry.) Lola Nidora half-confirmed what both Alden and Divina a.k.a. YayaDUB dug in the box. “Magtataka ako kung lumambot na yan diyan.” (I’d wonder if that item softened inside there.) Neither Alden nor Divina has pulled it out of the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift box though.
Lola Nidora gave the young couple the signal to pull out said item from the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift box. It was a clapper commonly used in movies. On it were the words “Movie” and their names “Alden Richards” and “Maine Mendoza”. Lola Nidora then told Alden and Divina to go in front.
Lola Nidora explained the item that Alden and Divina dug from the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift box. “Eto na ang panahon para sa hinihintay ng marami. Eto na ang panahon para magkaroon ng sarili nyong pelikula. Deserve nyo ito. Kaya pumapayag na ako.” (This is the time that everyone has been waiting for. This is the time for you to have your own movie. You deserve it. So now I allow you.)
Donya Tinidora thought of this as a pleasant surprise. “Maga-artista ka na? Maga-artista na ang apo natin.” (You’re becoming a movie star? Our grand-niece is becoming a movie star.) That’s when Donya Tinidora thought about it in hindsight at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Kaya pala puro pansit ang ulam natin. Magpo-produce ka pala ng movie. Pambihira. Tinitipid mo ako.” (Now I know why we always eat noodles. You’re about to produce a movie. Damn it. You’re scrimping on me.)
Alden and Divina were so thankful. Divina somewhat broke the fourth wall at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode when she thanked Lola Nidora. “Lola, alam nyo naman po na simula po nung magsimula yung ALDUB, andami na pong nangyari sa buhay namin ni Alden. Lalo na po sa akin, lola. Kasi first time po lahat ng ginagawa ko dito. Parang lahat po puro una.”(Granny, you know ever since ALDUB began, so many things have happened to us of Alden. Especially to me, granny. Because everything that I did here were done for the first time. Seems like all of them are firsts.)
Divina continued at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Yung iba po, nagmamadali. Pine-pressure po tayo. Ako po. Yung may hawak sa akin na sana gawin ko to. Gawin ko yan. Pero, lola, alam nyo naman po na hindi ko naman po kayang pagsabay-sabayin lahat, di ba? Na lahat naman po ng bagay. Na lahat po ng tatahakin ko po dito, may tamang panahon. Kaya, lola, ngayon po siguro ang tamang panahon na magkaroon kami ng sarili naming pelikula ni Alden.”
(Others are in a rush. We’re being pressured. Me. My talent manager [were pressured] that I should be doing this. I should be doing that. But, granny, you know that I can’t do everything at the same time, right? That all things. That every road that I take here has a right time. So, granny, now perhaps is the right time for us of Alden to have our own movie.)
Divina was almost emotional as Maine in the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Kaya maraming salamat po sa inyo, lola. Saka sa lahat-lahat po ng sumusuporta sa amin ni Alden. Maraming salamat po. Kasi dream come true po ito sa amin ni Alden. And promise na gagalingan po namin. Yay!” (So thank you very much, granny. And to everyone that supports us of Alden. Thank you very much. Because it’s a dream come true for us of Alden. And we promise to do our best.)
Divina tried staying in character though when going back to Alden. “Bakit ba pawis na pawis ka?” (Why are you so sweaty?) Alden was almost a loss for words. “Eh kasi naman eh.” (Just because.) Divina wiped the sweat off Alden’s forehead again at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode.
Alden then took his turn to talk at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Lola, nung nagsimula po ang paglalakbay namin ni Maine, hindi po naging madali. Sa lahat. Sa amin. Sa mga nagmamahal sa amin. Sa mga tao na bumuo ng KalyeSerye. Marami po kaming pinagdaanan. At patuloy na pinagdadaanan sa araw araw. And ang masarap lang po talaga at the end of the day is makakita ng mga nagmamahal sa inyo kagaya nyo na nandito ngayon sa studio.”
([At the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode.] Granny, when my journey with Maine began, it was not easy. To everyone. To us. To the ones that love us. To the ones who consisted of the KalyeSerye. We went through so much. And we continue to go through much every day. And the best feeling at the end of the day is to see people who love you like all of you here in the studio.)
Alden admitted his frustration too. “And sa lahat po ng naghihintay. Sa lahat po ng minsan nagdududa po sa amin ni Maine.” (And to everyone who waited. To everyone who occasionally doubted us of Maine.) Donya Tinidora almost snapped upon hearing this at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Ituro nyo!” (Point them out to me!)
It broke the ice for Alden and cracked up. “At sa lahat po ng hindi na makapaghintay. Eto na po.” (And to those who can’t wait any longer. Here it is.) The audience present at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode chided Alden “Iiyak na yan! Iiyak na yan!” (He’s about to cry! He’s about to cry.)
Alden continued. “Excited na po kami ni Maine na gawin itong proyektong ito. Para sa lahat lahat po ng sumusuporta at nagmamahal.” (We of Maine are excited to do this project. For everyone who supported and loved us.) Alden then turned to Divina at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Maine. Hinintay ko ‘to eh. Para sa ating dalawa. And I can’t wait to do this movie with you. And let’s prove them wrong.” (I waited for this. For the two of us.)
Soon, even the grannies were seen crying and hugging at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. Bossing Vic was quick to spot them. “Ba’t kayo umiiyak, lola?” (Why are you crying, granny?) Donya Tinidora replied in between tears to Lola Nidora. “Ang baho ng damit mo.” (Your dress stinks.) Donya Tinidora repeated her answer to Bossing Vic. “Eto kasi. Ang baho ng damit. Aakap pa.” (She’s the problem. Her dress stunk. Then she hugs me.) Lola Nidora was busy laughing to answer Donya Tinidora.
Donya Tinidora turned her attention to Alden and Divina instead. “Congratulations sa inyong dalawa.” She used this opportunity in the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode to address the ALDUB Nation. “Mga kaibigan, maraming salamat. Yung mga pinagdaanan ng apo namin. Etong si Alden. Lahat ng mga pagsubok, andyan kayo palagi, di ba? Wag kayong aalis. Diyan lang kayo.” (Friends, thank you very much. For all of the things that our grand-niece went through. Of Alden. Of all the trials, you’re always there, right? Don’t go. Stay there.)
Lola Nidora eventually regained her composure at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Happy monthsary. Pumapayag na ako pero alam mo.” (I already allowed them but you know.) The audience present at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode started chanting. “Kiss! Kiss!” Lola Nidora heard it loud and clear. “Anong kiss?” (What kiss?) Donya Tinidora had to answer. “Sa movie nyo na abangan yung kiss.” (Watch out for the kiss at the movie.)
Lola Nidora agreed with Donya Tinidora. “Abangan nyo sa pelikula.” (Wait for it at the movie.) Alden agreed with the grannies at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Naka-reserve. Naka-reserve.” (It’s reserved. It’s reserved.) Lola Nidora then reminded Alden. “Alagaan mo ‘tong apo namin sa pupuntahan nyong mga lokasyon.” (Take care of our grand-niece on your location shoots.)
Donya Tinidora asked Lola Nidora. “Sasama ka, ate? Ayaw mo ba?” (You’re going, elder sister. Don’t you want to?) Lola Nidora laughed before replying at the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode. “Mahina na ang tuhod ko. Bawal na sa akin magpupupuyat.” (My knees are weak. I’m not allowed to stay awake late at night.)
Lola Nidora reminded Divina of her priorities after the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift. “Mag-aral kang mabuti. Ikaw rin, Alden. Pag-aralan nyong mabuti kung paano maging propesyonal na artista. Eto na ang tamang panahon para sa inyo. Wag nyong sayangin ang tiwala ng lahat ng taong nagmamahal sa inyo.” (Study well. You too, Alden. Learn how to be a professional performer. This is the right time for you.)
Lola Nidora mentioned the ALDUB 9th Monthsary gift as if it’s a baby to be delivered. “Sapat sa buwan. Tama sa edad at after 9 months, eto na ang anak nyo. Ang pelikulang tatatak sa kasaysayan ng pelikulang Pilipino.” (With enough number of months. Sufficiently mature and after 9 months, here is your baby. The movie that will mark in the history of Philippine cinema.)
Divina replied. “Opo, lola. Pangako po yan. Ang tagal ng hinintay nila. 9 months din sila naghintay, Alden. Para dito.” (Yes, granny. That’s a promise. They’ve waited for so long. They waited 9 months, Alden. For this.) Lola Nidora then took the clapper to condition Alden and Divina. “Basta ready. Lights! Camera!” Lola Nidora then gave the signal to the audience to finish the line. “Action!” Lola Nidora produced the clapper’s sound. Divina then told Alden. “Kaya natin ‘to ha? Di mo ko papabayaan. Pangako ha? Promise?” (We can do this, okay? You won’t forsake me. Promise?)
Alden replied. “Promise.” They made the pinky swear and hugged. The truck horn honked off. Ending the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode cleanly. [It was not mentioned in the ALDUB 9th Monthsary episode whether the movie was produced by GMA Films, APT Entertainment or whether it’s a joint venture. The only sure thing is it’s the launching movie of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards.]
