The ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode opened with a nice red SUV. Bossing Vic liked how the SUV looked. “Wow, naka-SUV.” Ruby was just as impressed. “Ang ganda.” (It looked beautiful.) One by one, the people inside the red SUV hopped off to the tune of Rihanna’s “Work”. It was Divina’s dance that captured Ruby’s attention. “Bago yan ah. Bago yung pa-side na yun ah.” (That’s a new dance step. The one walking on the side.) Bossing Vic remembered something else in Divina’s dance. “Parang palaka lang ang dating ah.” (Looks like a frog dance to me.)
Divina had to divert her attention to Lola Nidora. “Lola.” Lola Nidora was half-dancing and half-playing the “patintero”. [It’s an outdoor game that most kids play in the 90’s at school.] Bossing Vic recognized the game too. “Patintero na yan. Sino patotot?” (That’s the “patintero”. Who’s IT?) Lola Nidora enjoyed being IT. Divina had to pull her aside before she enjoys it too much at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Lola, tara na po dito.” (Granny, let’s sit here.)
Lola Nidora then greeted the people at the studio present at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Hello, Marvic.” Donya Tinidora is very proud of their SUV. “Nakita mo ba yung sasakyan namin?” (Have you seen our vehicle?) Bossing Vic liked it. “Ang ganda, lola.” (It looked great, granny.) Donya Tinidora started to brag. “Inarkila lang namin yan. Mas mayaman kami. Kasi kapag bumili kami, mas mura. Mas maganda yung arkila. Araw araw, nagbabayad.” (We just rented that. We’re richer. If we bought [an SUV] instead, it would be cheaper. So renting is better.)
Bossing Vic had to check if he heard Donya Tinidora right at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode.“Rent lang?” (Just rent?) Donya Tinidora confirmed it. “Yes. Siempre.” (Of course.) Bossing Vic realized how the De Explorer entourage is back to normal.“Mayaman na kayo.” (You are now rich.) Donya Tinidora replied. “Oo.” (Yes.) Donya Tinidora’s vibe was almost ruined by a Rogelio that crossed in front of the camera. “Tumawid ka pa sa camera.” (Pass by the camera again.)
Bossing Vic was almost annoyed too. “Yang mga Rogelio.” (Those Rogelios.) Donya Tinidora snapped at them. “Tagal tagal nyo nang artista.” (You’ve been actors for so long.) Bossing Vic had to change the topic at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Kumusta buhay buhay, lola?” (How is life, granny?) Donya Tinidora is still having some hangover from the ALDUB Wanted Yaya episode. “I can feel the summer heat. You know what?” Bossing Vic asked back. “What?”
Donya Tinidora just can’t push speaking in English in full at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Basta. Mainit. It’s the perfect timing para mag-beach tayo. Para magamit ko na ang mga swimsuit ko. Ayaw lang malantad ang aking mga legs. Mga body. Ang aking mga abdominal.” (It’s just hot. Perfect timing for the beach. So that I can use my swimsuit. I just didn’t want my legs to show. My abdominal.)
Lola Nidora didn’t think swimsuits are age appropriate as far as the Zobeyala sisters are concerned. “Ano ka ba naman, Tinidora? Tingin mo sa edad natin, kaya pa ba natin yan?” (What is with you, Tinidora? You think at our age, we can still sport those [swimsuits]?) Donya Tinidora knew she can. “Kaya ko. Hindi ikaw, ate. I’m confidencely.” (I can. Not you, elder sister.) Bossing Vic spotted a grammatical error in what Donya Tinidora said. “You’re what?” Donya Tinidora repeated what she said last. “Confidencely.”
A light bulb sparked in Divina’s mind. “Ay! Teka lang, mga lola. Hindi po tayo maga-outing? Tamang tama po. Summer na ngayon. Maganda makapag-bonding naman tayo sa beach.” (Wait, grannies. Aren’t we going to some outing? It’s perfect. It’s already summer. It would be great for us to bond on the beach.) Donya Tinidora remembered Maine’s trip though prior to the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Tingnan mo tong bata na to. Kagagaling mo lang ng Boracay.” (Look at this kid. You just got back from Boracay.)
Lola Nidora remembered it too. “Di ba kaka-beach mo lang? Pinuntahan ka pa nga ni Alden.” (You just got done with your beach trip, right? Alden even went to your place.) Divina thought of a family trip though at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Lola, iba naman po kapag kayo ang kasama ko. Di pa po tayo nakapag-bonding talaga eh. Saka sige na po, lola.” (Granny, it’s different when I am with you grannies. We haven’t really bonded. Please, granny.)
Donya Tinidora thought about Divina’s observation. “Pagbigyan na natin si Divina. Yang bata na yan. Ganyan talaga yan. Pantanggal ng mga stretchable.” (We should let Divina have her way. It’s how she is. And so we’d get rid of all that stress.) Then Lola Nidora remembered how they just got the mansion back as of the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “E di ba? Meron namang swimming pool dun sa mansion? Ba’t hindi yun ang gamitin?” (Isn’t it? We have a swimming pool by the mansion? Why not use that?)
Donya Tinidora didn’t like the pool at the mansion. “Yang swimming pool mo, pinamahayan na ng mga butete.” (Your pool got pestered with tadpoles.) Lola Nidora got practical at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “E di palinis. Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio. Linisin nyo yung swimming pool.” (Then have it cleaned. Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio. Clean the swimming pool.) Donya Tinidora didn’t trust those men though. “Paano naman malilinis ang mga swimming pool diyan? Pagtawid nga sa camera, hindi nila alam. Maglinis pa ng swimming pool?” (How can they clean the pool? They don’t even know how to pass in front of a camera. Now you’d tell them to clean the pool.
Divina laughed hard. Donya Tinidora then remembered the task pending as of the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Wala pa nga tayong nakukuhang yaya. Di pa tayo puede.” (We haven’t picked a nanny yet. We can’t go.) Bossing Vic remembered the previous applicant. “Hindi nyo pa ba tinanggap si Yaya Glo?” (Haven’t you accepted Yaya Glo?) Donya Tinidora then spoke in English. “We’ll think about that, Bossing.”
Bossing Vic was impressed with Yaya Glo. “Oo. Mukhang masipag yung isang yun eh.” (Yes. That one looked industrious.) Donya Tinidora agreed. “Mukhang masipag. Inglisera pa.” (She seemed industrious. And spoke English too.) Divina can’t drop the summer outing trip though. “Pero, lola. Yung outing, lola.” Lola Nidora had to relent. With reservations at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “O sige. Pag-iisipan ko yang outing na yan. Pero ngayon maghanap muna tayo ng makakatulong sa atin.” (Okay. I would think about that summer outing. But for now let’s look for someone to assist us.)
Bossing Vic had to ask. “Meron bang audition ngayon?” (Is there an audition today?) Donya Tinidora turned to her sister. “Eh ate? Yun na nga. Ano ba yung binubulong sa yo ng mga Rogelio kahapon?” (What were the Rogelios whispering to you yesterday?) Lola Nidora tried to recall it at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Meron daw maga-apply. Eh nakakapagod nang maghanap eh.” (Someone was trying to apply. It’s been tiring to look.) Donya Tinidora tried to be practical too. “Eh di wag kang maghanap.” (Then don’t look.)
Dropping the search wasn’t an option for Lola Nidora either as of the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Madami tayong iniiisip. Meron pang EB Dabarkads Awards 2016. A-attend tayo ngayong Sabado. Wala pa tayong damit, Tinidora. Kahit itong si Divina. Wala pa itong mga damit.” (We’ve been preoccupied in our thoughts. There was the EB Dabarkads Awards 2016 [to worry about]. We’d be attending this Saturday. And we still haven’t found any outfits. Even Divina. She hasn’t found anything to wear for the occasion.)
Donya Tinidora underestimated Lola Nidora’s worries. “Ate, ano ka ba? Ang yaman yaman na natin. Kotse nga, di natin problema. Damit pa? Kagaya ng mga suot natin. O di ba? Mga tatlumpu’t limang ulit na to.” (What is with you? We’ve gotten rich. We don’t even worry about the vehicle anymore. What more for clothes? Like our clothes. Right? I’ve worn this for the thirty-fifth time.) Lola Nidora thought of having new clothes made at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Kailangan magpagawa tayo kay Barbara Sastre. Yung medyo maganda naman. Presentable.” (We need to have new clothes made by Barbara Sastre. Better looking ones.)
Divina agreed with Lola Nidora. “Oo nga naman, lola. Para presentable tayo ngayong Sabado.” (Yes, granny. So that we’d be presentable this Saturday.) Bossing Vic had to remind them. “Formal yun. Formal ha?” (Dress formally. It’s a formal occasion.) Lola Nidora heard Bossing Vic at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Formal yun. Kailangan si Barbara Sastre ang gumawa ng damit natin.” (It’s a formal affair. Barbara Sastre should be the one making our clothes.) Donya Tinidora is not impressed though. “Wala namang magandang ginawa si Sastre.” (Sastre hasn’t done anything lovely.)
But Donya Tinidora knew which look would fit the grannies best. “Kelangan, ate, yung damit natin. Yung parang natutulog lang tayo ha?” (We need to have clothes. Clothes that would make us look asleep.) Bossing Vic had to correct Donya Tinidora at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Formalin na yun. Hindi formal.” (That’s already for formalin. Not for formal occasion.) Lola Nidora agreed with Bossing Vic. “Iba yun.” (That’s something else.) Donya Tinidora simple agreed with both of them. “Iba ba yun? O ano pa nga ba?” (That’s something else? What else are we left to do?)
Lola Nidora diverted the topic to Divina. “Ikaw, may kinakain ka bang chewyble?” (Have you been popping some chewables?) Divina denied having anything in her mouth. “Lola, wala lang.” (Granny, there’s none.) But Lola Nidora could hear Divina’s slightly garbled speech at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Bakit ganyan ka magsalita? Pabebe ka nang pabebe.” (Why do you speak like that? You’re starting to sound pabebe.)
Divina denied having slightly slurred speech. “Lola, wala. Hindi naman. Inaano ba kayo, lola? Grabe kayo sa akin.” (Granny, no. Not at all. What have I done to you? You’re being harsh to me.) Donya Tinidora exaggerated Lola Nidora’s observation at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Parang patung patong ang braces mo ah.” (It’s as if your braces got on top of each other.) [Except that Divina had no braces at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode.]
Lola Nidora talked to Donya Tinidora instead. “Kanina ko pa napapansin, Tinidora. Napaka-blooming nitong apo natin.” (I’ve noticed, Tinidora. Our grand-niece is blooming.) Donya Tinidora checked out Divina’s appearance too at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Alam mo naman, ate. Kaya blooming yan, tingnan mo tong suot natin.” (Well, you know. The reason she’s blooming is [the color of] our outfits.) Lola Nidora then stared at their clothes. “Blue.”
Donya Tinidora tried to connect the color to Divina’s aura. “Blue. Kaya BLUEming yan.” Lola Nidora connected the dots too. “Baka nagre-reflect yung damit natin sa kanya.” (Our clothes might reflect on her.) Donya Tinidora fueled the theory further at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “BLUEming nga talaga kasi nga kay Alden. Kaya ganyan yang apo natin.” (She’s BLUEming because of Alden. So that’s what happened to our grand-niece.) Divina denied her grannies’ observation. “Hindi naman, lola.” (Not at all, granny.)
Donya Tinidora then sensed Alden’s arrival at the other monitor. “Tingnan mo. Lalabas yang si Alden. Magulat ka.” (Look. Alden will come out. You’d be surprised.) The surprise that Donya Tinidora was referring to then perplexed Divina “Hala.” (Oh no.) Alden appeared on the other monitor of the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode with an icing beard. Divina found Alden’s appearance amusing. “Bakit ka may ganyan? Anong ginagawa mo?” (Why the icing? What are you doing?) Lola Nidora liked Alden’s icing look. “Bagay pala may ganyan.” (It looked good on you.)
Alden then replied through his clipboard at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Meron akong something para sa yo.” (I have something for you.) Divina asked. “Ano yun?” (What is it?) Alden then showed a tray of cupcakes with icing on them. Divina also replied through her clipboard. “Halah!” Donya Tinidora told Divina. “Kunin mo na.” (Take it.) Alden then tried to pass the tray of cupcakes under the camera. Divina received a whole black forest cake instead.
Donya Tinidora was amused. “Aba! Naiba ang itsura ha?” (Wow! It changed its appearance, huh?) Lola Nidora liked it. “Ang galing! Ang galing!” (Amazing! Amazing!) Donya Tinidora could only imagine the challenging logistics at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Ang layo ng binyahe.” (It came from far away.) Lola Nidora was left to happily wonder. “Habang bumibiyahe, nagta-transform.” (While it’s on the way, it’s transforming.)
Bossing Vic saw the cupcakes too. “Kanina, hiwa-hiwalay ang mga cupcake na yan. Ngayon nagdikit dikit sila. Naging isa na lang oh. Ang galing.” (Awhile ago, those cupcakes were separated. Now they’re merged. They became one. Amazing.) Lola Nidora used an anime jargon to best describe what happened. “Nag-volt in.” Divina DUBsmashed Monica’s version of “Angel of Mine” our of happiness. Alden wrote on the clipboard again. “Especially for you yan.” Then he DUBsmashed “Ikaw Lang Ang Aking Mahal” at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. Divina then DUBsmashed Moonstar88’s version of “Panalangin”.
Alden eventually spoke at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Hello, Divina.” Divina ended up speaking too. “Magsasalita ka rin pala. Hello.” (You’d end up speaking after all.) She wrote on the clipboard though. “Salamat.” (Thank you.) Donya Tinidora was almost angry again. “Pinagsulat-sulat mo yung apo namin. Tapos magsasalita ka.” (You made our grand-niece write. Then you’d talk after all.) Alden had to explain. “Hindi, lola. Na-miss ko lang yung fan sign.” (No, granny. I just missed the fan signs.)
Lola Nidora greeted the young [unofficial] couple. “Alden, Divina, Happy 37th Weeksary.” Alden appreciated Lola Nidora’s gesture at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Thank you po, lola.” Divina greeted Alden too. “Happy weeksary, Alden.” Alden replied. “Happy weeksary, Maine.” Divina complemented Alden’s icing beard. “Bagay sa yo yan.” (It looked good on you.)
Turns out, Alden has another surprise in store for Divina at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Teka. Meron pa kong isa. Meron pa kong surprise.” (Wait. I have another one. I have another surprise.) Divina asked. “Ano yun?” (What is it?) Alden picked up a stem of pink rose for Divina. Divina liked it. “Ikaw talaga o. Akin na.” (Oh stop you. Hand it over.) Alden handed over the rose. Divina ended up receiving a full bouquet of red roses.
Bossing Vic liked the effects. “Galing! Dumami na naman? Isa lang yan eh.” (Amazing! It multiplied again? That’s just one [rose].) Divina liked the gesture at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Grabe ka. Salamat sa pabulaklak ha?” (You’re far too kind. Thanks for the flowers, huh?) Alden liked the effects the camera had on his gifts too. “Kala mo ha?” (Now you know, huh?) Divina quickly returned to her seat to place the bouquet at the table.
Alden then waved at Divina to come close to the camera. That means Divina had to stand up and approach the camera. It’a little far from her. “Ikaw talaga, Alden. Pinapagod mo ako.” (Oh you, Alden. You’re getting me tired.) Alden insisted. “Halika lang saglit. Lapit ka lang sa camera.” (Just come here. Get close to the camera.) Divina asked while laughing at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Inaano ba kita?” (What have I done to you?)
Alden then showed something to Divina. “Gusto mo ‘to?” (You want this?) He has some icing on his finger. Divina wasn’t so prepared though. “Wait lang.” Alden repeated his instruction. “Lapit ka.” (Come close.) Divina asked for some time. “Sandali muna ha?” (Just wait, okay?) Alden can’t wait for Divina to come close to him at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Lapit ka nga eh. Lapit ka lang.” (I said come here. Just come here.) Divina was a little undecided. “Mamaya na nga. O sige na nga.” (Later. [No.] Okay.)
Alden was persistent. “Ngayon na. Ngayon na.” (Now. Now.) Divina came closer to the camera just as Alden asked. “Eto na. Eto na. Ano ba yan?” (Here I am. Here I am. What is it?) Alden then put some icing on Divina’s nose across the camera at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. Divina wasn’t expecting it. “Ano ba yan? Hala! Grabe ka naman. Inaano ka ba?” (What the? Oh no! You’re too much. What have I done to you?)
Alden laughed. “Ang galing nung lumulusot yung daliri ko diyan.” (It’s great to see my finger teleport there.) In retaliation, Divina picked some icing from the cake that Alden sent. “Hala! Ikaw din!” (You too.) Alden didn’t see much of the icing though initially. “Ano yan? Ano yan?” (What’s that? What’s that?) Divina then smudged some icing on Alden at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode.
Donya Tinidora ended up getting smudged accidentally with icing too. “Ano ba naman yan? Pati ako, nadadamay sa inyong dalawa.” (What the? Even I get dragged into your antics.) Divina had to apologized. “Lola, sori po.” (Granny, I’m sorry.) Donya Tinidora slightly scolded the young couple. “Pambihira ‘tong mga bata na ‘to. Ang haharot ninyo.” (You kids. You’re so flirty.) Alden apologized too at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Lola, sori.” (Granny, I’m sorry.) Lola Nidora paid attention to the cake. “Masarap yung cake. Wag nyong paglaruan.” (The cake tasted great. Don’t play with it.)
Lola Nidora handed Divina and Tinidora some wads of tissue. “Tinidora, eto yung tissue.” (Here’s the tissue.) Divina thanked Alden for the cake and flowers. “Alden, salamat ha? Nag-effort ka pa talaga.” (Thank you. You really exerted some effort.) Alden acknowledged Divina’s appreciation at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “You’re welcome. Mas matagal pa yung dinumi ng mukha ko kesa paggawa ng cupcake.” (I spent more time smudging my face than baking the cupcake.)
Divina was surprised. “Ay ganun? Okay lang yan. Cute ka pa din. Bagay sa yo yung ganyan.” (Really? It’s okay. You’re still cute. You look good with it.) Alden asked. “Ganito na lang araw araw?” (So I’d look like this every day?) Divina was referring to the appearance, not that Alden should smudge his face everyday after the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Hindi. Seryoso ako. Oo.” (Not that. I’m serious.)
Lola Nidora found the banter between Alden and Divina sweet. “Lalanggamin naman yan.” (They’d get pestered with ants again.) Divina had to reason with Lola Nidora at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Lola, kahit wala naman po siyang ganyan. Nilalanggam na po yan eh. Sweet.” (Granny, even if he doesn’t do that. He gets pestered with ants.) Alden somewhat protested. “Huy!” Divina implied the role that Alden played at Sunday PinaSaya to be a good gig. “Sa mga show mo, ganyan ka. Para maiba lang.” (Do that on your shows. Just to be different.)
Alden agreed to the icing suggestion on one condition. “Ikaw maglilinis.” (You clean me.) Divina was fine with it. “Oo.” (Yes.) Alden added another twist in his condition at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Pero no hands.” Divina had to tell Lola Nidora what Alden wanted. “Hala! Lola, no hands daw.” Lola Nidora’s solution was practical. “E di paa gamitin mo.” (Then use your feet.)
Alden elaborated the condition that he agreed into. “No hands tapos dito ako maglalagay ng icing.” He then put some icing on his lips. That’s when Divina got perplexed even further. “Hala! Sige. Ikaw ha? Gawin mo yan. Alden, si Lola oh.” (Oh no! Okay. You! Do it, Alden, look at granny.) Alden had to talk it over with Lola Nidora. “Lola, joke lang po.” (Granny, just kidding.)
Divina extended her greetings to the fans too. “Happy weeksary sa ALDUB Nation. Sa ating lahat.” (To all of us.) Alden echoed Divina’s greetings. “Happy weeeksary. Thank you po.” Donya Tinidora had a different thing in mind upon counting the weeks at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Konti na lang, baby na ha? 37 weeks.” (Just a little more and it’s a baby huh?) Lola Nidora had to chide Alden later on. “Joker ka ha?” (You’re one joker, huh?)
Alden ended up calling Divina as Maine again at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Maine, nagustuhan mo ba yung cupcake na naging cake?” (Did you like the cupcake that became a cake?) Divina replied. “Ay oo! Ang sarap ng icing. Ikaw na ba ang icing sa ibabaw ng cupcake ko?” (Yes! The icing tasted great. Are you the icing on top of my cupcake. Alden laughed upon remembering the song from which Divina got that line. Divina had to backtrack. “Ito naman. Joke lang.” (Come on. Just kidding.)
Alden asked Divina again. “Wala ka bang baon diyan?” (Don’t you have anything in your storage?) Donya Tinidora beat Divina to replying to Alden. “Meron. Php500.” (She has 500 bucks.) Divina had to ask Alden. “Bakit? Hihiramin mo?” (Why? You plan to borrow it?) Donya Tinidora threw another question. “Gipit ka ba?” (Are you hard up?) Divina knew that Alden was actually asking if she has some jokes in store at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. So she asked him instead. “Ikaw, Alden? Meron?” (How about you? Got any?)
Alden has one. And he gave it a try. “Pang-ilang Tirso Cruz si Tirso Cruz III?” (What rank is Tirso Cruz III among the Tirso Cruzes?) Divina made an obvious guess. “Pangatlo?” (Third?) Alden then revealed the answer. “Hindi. Panglima. Kaya nga PIP eh.” (No. He’s the fifth. That’s why his nickname is PIP.) Divina did not laugh. She pretended to be occupied before replying to Alden at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Okay na? Wala akong baon, Alden, eh. Ay meron pala. Knock knock.” (I don’t have any joke. Oh wait. I have. Knock knock.) Alden asked back. “Who’s there?”
Divina mentioned her knock knock joke. “Amo ni Juan.”Alden was game for it. “Amo ni Juan who?” Divina started singing. “Amo ni Juan call away.” Divina then saw Bossing Vic’s reaction to her joke at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Bossing, sori po. Kay Alden po yun.” (I’m sorry. That joke was intended for Alden.) Alden tried to vouch for Divina then. “Eto pambawi.” (Here’s something to make it up for it.)
Divina braced herself. “Ano?” (What?) Alden then dished out his pickup line. “Matagal mo na bang hinihintay yung taong magmamahal sa yo?” (Have you been waiting for that one person to love you?) Divina asked back. “Bakit?” (Why?) Alden finished his pickup line at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Wag kang mag-alala. On the way na ako.” (Don’t worry. I’m on the way.) Divina pretended that she didn’t get the pickup line. “Saan? Ikaw ha?” (Where? Oh you.)
Somebody then arrived. The Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio blocked her way to the grannies. Divina asked the grannies. “Lola, sino yan?” (Who’s that?) Lola Nidora thought it’s an altercation at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Parang napapaaway ang mga Rogelio.” (It’s as if the Rogelio got into a ruckus.) The woman that the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio was blocking yelled at the bodyguards. ”Ano ba?” (What the heck?)
Alden saw what happened from where he stood at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Sino po yan? Parang si Jean Grey.” (Who’s that? Looks like Jean Grey.) Donya Tinidora had to check her out too. “Sino ba yan?” (Who’s that?) Lola Nidora had to order the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio. “Sino ba yan? Ba’t di nyo palapitin dito?” (Who’s that? Why don’t you let her come here?) The woman was then allowed to face the De Explorer entourage and speak. “Magandang hapon po. Nabalitaan ko po kasing naghahanap kayo ng bagong kasambahay.” (Good afternoon. I learned that you were looking for a new domestic helper.)
Donya Tinidora was immediately suspicious of the strange woman. “Naku, ate. Mag-ingat ka. Baka mamaya budol budol yan ha? Mag-ingat ka. Uso ngayon yan dito. Mukhang malakas ang rabies nito ha?” (Be careful. She might be from some scamming gang. It’s the trend here. She looked rabid too.) Alden saw how the woman looked like overall at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Nakapaa.” (She’s barefoot.)
The woman switched her position and stood at the spot closer to Lola Nidora at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. She partly spoke in Ilocano.”Magandang hapon po. Naimba nga aldaw you. Ako nga pala si Pacifico Alifico Cucurucouture. Pero puede nyo kong tawaging Pak na lang. Pak! Ganyan!” (Good afternoon. [Good afternoon in Ilocano.] I am Pacifico Alifico Cucurucouture. But you can call me Pak instead. Pak! Like that!)
Donya Tinidora knew that the name would soon come with the word “yaya”. “So anong puede naming itawag sa yo?” (So what can we call you?) She got the gist that Donya Tinidora was expecting. “Yaya Pak na lang.” (Just Yaya Pak.) Donya Tinidora then understood the appearance. “Kaya pala nakayapak ka.” (No wonder you’re barefoot.) [“Yapak” means barefoot.] Yaya Pak confirmed Donya Tinidora’s quip at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Opo. Tinitiis ko lang. Ang init ng semento. Para sa pangarap ko ito.” (Yes. I’m just trying to endure [the pain]. The concrete is so hot. This is for my dream.)
Donya Tinidora wondered if Yaya Pak’s skin is thick enough to manage the concrete heat. “Hindi ka ba naiinitan?” (Don’t you find it hot?) Yaya Pak acknowledged Donya Tinidora’s concern at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Yun nga po. Tiis ganda. Para sa kinabukasan.” (That’s the point. Enduring it for beauty purposes. For the future.) Lola Nidora then started the interview. “Yaya Pak, tell us something about yourself.”
Yaya Pak’s introduction was partly based on how Boobay [the comedienne that portrayed Yaya Pak at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode] would usually introduce herself. ”I am Yaya Pak. I came from Saint Louis University Baguio. I graduated Bachelor of Arts in Communication. And I am here today of course to apply as a helper of your mansion.” Donya Tinidora was impressed with Yaya Pak’s grammar. “Wow, English! Gusto ko nito.” (I like her.)
Yaya Pak pitched herself at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode as capable. “At madami po akong kayang gawin.” (And I can do a lot of things.) Donya Tinidora’s skepticism kicked in again. “Hindi nga.” (No really.) Yaya Pak tried to thwart any hesitation that the audition panel had. “Wag po kayong mag-alala. Marunong po ako sa mga gawaing bahay.” (Don’t worry. I know housework.)
Donya Tinidora asked. “Gaya ng ano?” (Like what?) Yaya Pak’s answer was hilarious. “Kaya ko pong maglipat ng swimming pool sa third floor.” (I can transfer the swimming pool to third floor.) Now Donya Tinidora liked that kind of answer at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Oh! Wala na tayong problema! Maililipat na yung swimming pool natin. Hindi lang malilinis ha? Malilipat pa.” (Problem solved. We can finally move the swimming pool. Not just clean huh? It will be transferred.)
Yaya Pak pitched her skills further. “Correct. Magaling din po akong magluto. Mga exotic food ang puede kong ibigay sa inyo. Mga pampalusog.” (I know how to cook too. I can serve you exotic food. Food that would make you healthy.) Donya Tinidora asked again. “Gaya ng ano?” (Like what?) Yaya Pak mentioned particular dishes. “Mga sizzling kidney. Ganyan. Maganda po yun ha? O kaya sinigang na intestine. Puede sa yo yun, lola.” (Sizzling kidney. It’s a good dish. Or intestines in sour broth. That would be great for you, granny.)
Lola Nidora had to turn down the intestine dish. “Bawal sa akin yan.” (I’m not allowed to eat that.) Yaya Pak had to note it. “Ah bawal po sa inyo yun?” (Oh you’re prohibited from it?) Donya Tinidora kept up with the questions at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Ano pa? Ano pa?” (What else? What else?) Yaya Pak had a quick answer to Donya Tinidora. “Siempre po, pag nalulungkot kayo, akin ang entertainment. Wag kayong mag-alala. Madami akong talent.” (Of course, if you’re said, I’d handle the entertainment. Don’t worry. I have a lot of talent.)
Donya Tinidora had heard of that line before though. “Sigurado ka lang ha? Marami nang nag-audition. Pero ayaw lang namin ng mga talents. Sige, pakita mo sa amin ang talent mo.” (You sure about that, huh? So many have auditioned. But we didn’t like their talent. Go ahead, show us your talent.) Yaya Pak asked first which talent to show first at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Kanta po muna?” (I’d sing first?) Donya Tinidora was fine with it. “Sige. Kanta muna.” (Okay. Sing first.) Yaya Pak gave a little info about the song she’d sing. “Kanta po ito para sa mga lola. Mula kay Shakira.” And so she ended up singing some lines from Shakira’s “Whenever Wherever”.
Donya Tinidora found it nice. “Ang ganda. Ang ganda ng balakang mo.” (Nice. Your hips are nice.) Turns out that she noticed the body movements more than Yaya Pak’s voice. Lola Nidora liked the dedication that Yaya Pak gave before singing. “May kanta na pala para sa mga lola.” (So there’s a song for grannies now.) Divina wanted to hear more at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Sige na, Yaya Pak. More pa.” (Go, Yaya Pak. Sing some more.)
Yaya Pak is fine with taking in requests. “Ano gusto mo?” (What would you like?) Divina left the choice to Yaya Pak. “Ikaw bahala.” (Your call.) Lola Nidora had to butt in the next question though. “Ano pa ba kaya mo?” (What else can you do?) Yaya Pak briefly replied at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Magaling din po akong sumayaw.” (I am good at dancing too.) Donya Tinidora wanted to see Yaya Pak’s talent further. “Sayaw? Okay. Sige.” (Dance? Okay. Go ahead.)
Yaya Pak needed some backup help from the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio though. “Dahil nakilala ko na po ang mga Rogelios. Halikayo dito.” (Because I have known the Rogelios. Come here.) Lola Nidora was impressed at how quick she got close to the bodyguards. “May support pa talaga ito sa mga Rogelio.” (She’s got some support from the Rogelio too.) Yaya Pak “dances” to the tune of “Lakas Tama”. For the most part of her number at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode, the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio was just flipping her like a burger on a skillet.
Donya Tinidora was entertained thoroughly. “Aba! Magaling ito ha?” (She’s great.) Yaya Pak was flipped several times at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode before her wig fell off. Everyone was laughing hard in no time. Divina lapped it up. “Galing! Grabe! Delikado naman yang ginagawa mo, Yaya Pak.” (Great! Damn! That was dangerous, Yaya Pak.) Yaya Pak downplayed Divina’s fears. “Kayang kaya ko yun. Bata pa lang ako, ginagawa ko na talaga yan.” (I can do that. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid.)
Donya Tinidora wanted to accept Yaya Pak. “Alam mo, ate? Okay sa akin ito. At least pag naka-trouble tayo, meron na tayong pambuwis-buhay.” (You know what, elder sister? She’s okay with me. In case we get in trouble, we have someone to drop dead for us.) Lola Nidora had other matronly concerns at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Eh kaso naman baka makabasag ito sa mansion kakabuwis-buhay nito.” (But she might accidentally break stuff at the mansion due to her death-defying antics.)
Yaya Pak didn’t think her acts were that dangerous though. “Ano ba kayo, lola? Kahit eto o. Kayang kaya kong linisin yan in one minute.” (Come on, granny. I can clean even that in 1 minute.) She then pointed at a nearby house. Donya Tinidora saw the house that Yaya Pak pointed at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Kaya mo linisin yan?” (You can clean that?) Yaya Pak was confident that she could. “Kaya kong linisin yan. Agad agad.” (I can clean that. Immediately.)
Donya Tinidora would have let Yaya Pak do it. If only it was their house. “Baka magalit yung may-ari. Ipapalinis ko talaga sa yo yan.” (The owner might get angry. I would really have that cleaned by you.) Yaya Pak then resorting to asking Lola Nidora at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Sige na po. Tanggapin nyo na po ako. Promise. Pag tinanggap nyo ako, aakyatin ko yan in 5 seconds.” (Please. Accept me. I promise. Once you accept me, I will climb that tree in 5 seconds.)
Donya Tinidora almost laughed again. “Totoo ha?” (Really?) Yaya Pak insisted that she could. “Totoo yan. 5 seconds lang.” (Really. Just 5 seconds.) It gave Donya Tinidora a better idea at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Baka akyatin mo muna bago ka namin tanggapin.” (How about you climb that first before we accept you?) Yaya Pak agreed. “Puede po. Sige po. Akyatin ko.” (I may. I’d climb it.) Donya Tinidora herself made the count. “Patingin. Akyat muna. 1 2 3 Go! Akyat!” (Let’s see. Climb it first. 1 2 3 Climb!)
Yaya Pak climbed the neareast tree while Divina made the count. “1 2 3 4 5! Hala siya!” Yaya Pak’s wig fell again. Divina was half-entertained half-worried at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Mag-ingat ka.” (Be careful.) Bossing Vic had other things in mind. “Tindi pala ito. May lahi ito.” (She’s extreme. She might be of some breed.) Lola Nidora was still hesitant albeit not angry or irritated. “Ang hinahanap kasi namin, kasambahay. Hindi akyat bahay.” (We’re looking for a domestic helper. Not a house invader or thief.)
Yaya Pak justified her climbing skills at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Hindi po. Ako nga po ang lalaban sa mga akyat bahay. Pag umakyat sila, akyatin ko din sila, lola.” (No. I would fight the house invaders or thieves. If they clmbed, I’d climb on them too.) Donya Tinidora really got impressed. “Magaling ito. Magaling ha?” (She’s great.) Yaya Pak knew that it’s only Lola Nidora hesitant to take her in. “Sige na po, lola. Tanggapin nyo na po ako.” (Please, granny. Take me in.)
Lola Nidora had to express her concerns at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Sandali lang. Hindi ka pa namin kilala, tatanggapin na namin ikaw agad agad? Alam mo, ang paga-apply ng trabaho isang bagay yan na pinaghahandaan. Hindi yung aakyat akyat ka lang. Hindi yung susulpot ka lang tapos e-expect mo na. Na tatanggapin ka. Di ba nga? Pag naga-apply ka, kailangan mong patunayan na karapat-dapat ka sa trabaho. Responsable ka. Saan ka man maga-apply, mahalaga ang impression na iiwanan mo sa mga susuri sa yo. Yan ang unang masisilip sa iyong pagkatao.”
(Wait. We don’t know you that well yet and we’d take you in immediately? You know, applying for a job is something that you prepare for. You don’t just climb trees and expect to bag the job. Not that you’d come out of nowhere and expect. That you’d be taken in. Isn’t it? Whenever you’re applying, you need to prove that you fit the job. You’re responsive. Wherever you may be applying, the impression that you leave on your interviewer is crucial. That would be the first thing that they’d check on your personality.)
Donya Tinidora maintained her stance at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Sa akin, okay na yun. Ang ganda ng appearance niya.” (For me, she’s okay. Her appearance is great too.) Lola Nidora saw that Yaya Pak dressed almost fine for the interview. “Tulad nyan. Bihis na bihis, aakyat sa puno.” (Look at her. She’s dressed up then she’d climb a tree.)
Yaya Pak maintained her reason too. “Para po sa safety nyo, lola. Nakakapagod po yun. Wala po ba kayong upuan?” (This is for your safety, granny. It’s tiring. Don’t you have chairs?) Donya Tinidora stood up to get a monoblock chair for Yaya Pak. “Eto. Napapagod ka ba? Umupo ka nga.” (Here. You’re tired? Sit down.) Lola Nidora found Yaya Pak’s antics too much for her at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Eh kasi naman, pinaga-apply ka, buwis buhay ka naman.” (Well you were told to apply and you sported death-defying stunts.)
Divina screamed when Donya Tinidora pulled Yaya Pak’s chair. Yaya Pak ended up falling on the concrete after Donya Tinidora’s prank. Donya Tinidora saw Yaya Pak fall. “Umupo ka kasi. Binigyan na kita. Eto upuan. Umupo ka ng maayos para nakikita mo.” (I said sit down. I already gave you a chair. Here’s the chair. Sit properly so that you may see.) Yaya Pak wasn’t looking at the chair that much. She almost fell again upon trying to sit down at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “Tinamaan yung ano …. Yung pelvic bone.” ([The chair] hit my …. My pelvic bone.)
Donya Tinidora was practically pitching Yaya Pak to Lola Nidora. “Ate, siguro eto ha? Okay sa kin ito ha?” (Here’s my take, huh? She’s okay with me.) Lola Nidora thought of the previous applicants too. “Marami tayong gusto. Okay na rin ako sa kanya. Anong gagawin natin? Ang dami dami na nila.” (There are a lot of things that we like. I’m okay with her too. What can we do? Just too many of them.) Yaya Pak tried to beg again at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. “G na G lang po talaga.” (I am just really hard up.) [G na G was implied to mean “gipit na gipit”.]
Divina then asked if Yaya Pak has any other talent. “Wala ka na bang iba pang kayang gawin? Para mas mamangha pa sina lola sa yo?” (Do you have other skills? So that the grannies would be more impressed with you?) Yaya Pak was a little sarcastic in her answer. “Kaya kong pumunta diyan sa taas tapos tumalon pabagsak. Para wala na rin kayong yaya agad agad.” (I can go upstairs and jump down [from the window]. So that you don’t have any nanny anymore.) That’s when the grannies asked if Yaya Pak can act.
Yaya Pak can act. She was intense at the ALDUB 37th Weeksary episode. So intense that she ate her own lines. It was supposed to be dramatic. But her garbled delivery elicited more laughter from Divina. Lola Nidora is still hesitant. It almost snapped Yaya Pak to the point of ranting in Ilocano. But she then relented to wait for the selection process to get it done and over it.
