At the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode, the KalyeSerye commentary panel is complete. Everyone is waiting if Alden’s Russian grandmother, Lola Babah, would show up. They also announced that a new batch of school chairs was ready for shipment. They mentioned the school where it will be donated. A new batch (50 school chairs) would be assembled again for the next donor.
Donya Tidora is with YayaDUB again. She informed the commentary panel about the birthday party plans for Lola Nidora. “Joey, Allan, Marvic, Tito. Pinaplano namin ang bday niya.” (We are preparing for her birthday party.) They then asked when. “Kelan ang bday niya?” (When is her birthday?) YayaDUB answered for Donya Tidora. “Sa Sabado po.” (It’s on Saturday.) Donya Tidora had to make sure Lola Nidora is not around to overhear the preparations at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode. “Nasan si ate?” (Where is elder sister?) YayaDUB informed Donya Tidora of some appointments Lola Nidora got into. “Pina-check po niya yung pension niya.” (She had her pension checked.)
YayaDUB is worried about Alden. “Si Alden po ba? Hindi darating?” (How about Alden? Will he come?) Allan K felt the concern in the middle of the preparation. “Yun talaga ang concern ni YayaDUB ano?” (YayaDUB is more concerned about it right?) Donya Tidora can’t vouch for Alden getting allowed into the party. She didn’t want to ruin her sister’s birthday surprise. Also, Lola Babah might end up going too. “Kasama ba yung lola ni Alden?” (Is Alden’s granny coming with him?) YayaDUB didn’t know. She’s supposed to be happy as this is the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. But she had mixed emotions.
Upon seeing Alden at the other monitor. YayaDUB DUBsmashed Beyonce’s “Love on Top”. Being the polite man that he is. Alden told YayaDUB and Donya Tidora that he’d like to go. “Sama ako sa party.” (I’d go to the party.) Donya Tidora didn’t give him false hope. “Hijo, baka uminit ulo eh.” (Son, she might get hot-headed.) Alden then consoled himself with talking to YayaDUB at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary.
YayaDUB then dished out a joke for Alden at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. “Ano ang tawag sa streetfood na mabilis?” (What do you call fast street food?) Alden then asked what it is. YayaDUB said. “Quick quick.” She laughed at her own joke. Alden laughed too. The KalyeSerye commentators were more amused that YayaDUB was so happy with her own joke. Alden then delivered another pickup line. “Keyboard ka ba?” (Are you a keyboard?) YayaDUB asked why. Alden replied. “Kasi type kita.” (Because you’re my type.) YayaDUB was happy even if she ran out of jokes for Alden. They then greeted each other Happy Weeksary.
The car horn honking signaled Lola Nidora’s arrival at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. And she looked like the high priest from the Disney animated film “The Lion King”. She has purple feathers and a staff. Her Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio were dragging her suitcases. Later she’s uttering Russian gibberish. Donya Tidora found it odd for her to dress ridiculously. “Ate, bakit ganyan ang hitsura mo?” (Elder sister, why do you look like that?) Lola Nidora admitted her reason easily. “Baka kasi dumating ang Donya Babah, ang lola ni Alden. Papasikatan ko lang. Baka ismulin tayo.” (Alden’s granny Donya Babah might arrive. I’d show her. She might belittle us.)
Lola Nidora brought several trolleys at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. “Dinala ko lahat ng mga alahas ko. Yung nadala ko kahapon, fake. Dinala ko lahat ng feathers sa bahay.” (I brought all of my jewels. The ones I had yesterday were fake. I even brought all the feathers at home.) Good thing she clarified that no animals were harmed in her effort to upstage Lola Babah. Lola Nidora then asked Alden where is his grandmother. Alden said she’s resting. “Wala po. Nagpahinga po.” (She’s not here. She rested.)
Lola Babah had her message relayed though through Alden. “Nagbilin po siya sa akin. Hindi pa raw po kayo tapos.” (She left a message through me. She said she’s not yet done with you.) Alden had a meek face when he said this. He’s scared of Lola Nidora especially now that the ring still hasn’t been found. But he didn’t want to earn the ire of his grandmother too. Lola Nidora got rid of the feather head dress upon learning of Donya Babah’s absence at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. Her blonde wig got dragged away with her feather head dress.
Lola Nidora pretended that nothing happened. “Sinuot ko yun. Ang kati kati pa!” (I wore that. To think how prickly it is!) YayaDUB was laughing hard at the wig mishap. But Donya Tidora was laughing louder. Still, she helped her sister put her wig back. Lola Nidora then gave YayaDUB instructions. “Yaya, hanapin mo ang birth certificate namin.” (Nanny, look for my birth certificate.) It is odd that Donya Tidora (and supposedly Donya Tinidora too) knew everyone’s birthday but not Lola Nidora. Apparently, Lola Nidora lost reasons to celebrate her birthday decades ago. “Kasi mula nung mabyuda ako, di na ko nag-celebrate ng bday ko.” (Ever since I became a widow, I don’t celebrate my birthday.)
Alden was very thankful for the deadline extension that Lola Nidora gave him. “Wala eh. Bday ng lola mo eh. Kundi … Marunong din naman akong magbigay. Malay mo ako pa ang hihingi ng pabor.” (What can I do? It’s your granny’s birthday. Otherwise … I know how to give way. Who knows if it will be my turn to ask a favor from her?) Donya Tidora revealed days ago Lola Nidora’s birth date as November 14, 1925. So she’d be turning 90 on Saturday. Perhaps the NSO still has difficulty in recovering birth certificates generated before the 1940’s.
Donya Tidora found it hard to put back Lola Nidora’s wig at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode. One of the Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio had to help her. Allan K was surprised at one of the Rogelio’s initiative. “Si Rogelio pala ang hairstylist mo. Lalaki ba talaga yan?” (So Rogelio is your hairstylist. Is he really a guy?) Lola Nidora reasoned that Rogelio that learned through osmosis. “Natuto na rin ito kasi nababarkada kay Barbara Sastre.” (He learned since he became close friends with Barbara Sastre.) Sastre designed YayaDUB’s wedding gowns. The one she wore when she collapsed. And the other one she wore at the ALDUB Against All Odds episode.
YayaDUB and Alden were exchanging sweet nothings at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode. It’s the ALDUB 17th Weeksary after all. But still Lola Nidora heard them. “Alam ko namang weeksary nyo eh. Weeksary your face. Weeksary nyo mukha nyo.” (I know it’s your weeksary.) Once her wig got separated from the feather head dress. Lola Nidora’s hairstyle was more like that of recording artist Skrillex. Alden and YayaDUB then went on their DUBsmash exchange at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode.
Lola Nidora ended up meeting an American athlete she saw from the monitor. He introduced himself as Timmy. He’s a frisbee player. And he offered Lola Nidora some VIP tickets for their game on Friday. Lola Nidora was so happy. She gave YayaDUB some instructions later at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. “Yaya, may pupuntahan lang kami ha? Tapos ibili mo ko ng frisbee. Yung mga feathers, isoli mo na.” (Nanny, we’d just go somewhere. Then buy me a frisbee disc. Return the feathers too.) Lola Nidora and Donya Tidora then went to their Sugod Bahay errand.
After the Sugod Bahay errand. Alden serenaded YayaDUB to celebrate the ALDUB 17th Weeksary. He then admitted something to YayaDUB. “Alam mo di naman natin kelangang mag-celebrate linggo-linggo. Basta everyday. ALDUB you. Ginawa ko ito for you.” (You know we don’t have to celebrate every week. ALDUB you everyday. I did this for you.) He then showed the plywood that he decorated for YayaDUB.
YayaDUB then remembered the other jokes she has for Alden. First, she thanked Alden for the ALDUB 17th Weeksary surprise. “Thank you. God gave me you.” Then she went forward with the jokes. “”Sabihin mo makapal 10 beses.” (Say ‘makapal’ 10 times.) Alden did as he was told. Then YayaDUB asked him to say ‘makapal’ (thick) 5 times. Then 3 times. Then she went for the question. “Ano apelido ni Gloria?” (What was Gloria’s last name?) The mind conditioning that YayaDUB imposed on Alden took over. So he ended up answering the question wrong at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode. It made him sweat cold.
Alden sent a big box through the riding-in-tandem to YayaDUB containing his weeksary gifts to him. It contained a sun visor, a mini-electric fan (batteries included), a tumbler, a new clipboard and a box of sweets. It contained her favorite candies like Hany and Hawhaw. YayaDUB liked the clipboard best among the ALDUB 17th Weeksary gifts. “Eto pinakapaborito ko. Gamitin ko bukas. ALDUB You.” (This is my favorite. I’ll use it tomorrow. ALDUB You.) Alden replied. “MaAlden kita” (I love you too.) [ALDUB You is ALDUB jargon for I love you. MaAlden Kita is ALDUB jargon for I love you too.]
Lola Nidora came back with Donya Tidora. But she could sense the giddyness way before she got back. “Yaya, malayo pa kami, ramdam na ramdam na namin yung kilig.” (Nanny, we are still far behind and we could feel the giddyness.) She then told YayaDUB that they would be having a weekend trip. Donya Tidora protested. But can’t elaborate why. She didn’t want to spoil the surprise. Lola Nidora continued at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode. “Sa Sabado, aalis tayo. May gusto akong ipagtapat sa inyo kasi-” (We’d be leaving this Saturday. I need to admit something to you since-) The truck horn honked off before she could finish her sentence.
YayaDUB took over in the absence of Donya Tinidora channeling Gasgas. YayaDUB DUBsmashed using Wally Bayola’s voice channeling Gary Valenciano. Later, she was playing around the set while making faces at Alden. Alden tried to kiss YayaDUB later. Only to be interrupted at the sight of the Sotto brothers. They weren’t upset. But Bossing Vic Sotto slightly made faces too at the ALDUB 17th Weeksary episode.
What lies ahead of Alden and YayaDUB then in the middle of the sweetness? Will Lola Nidora ever run out of secrets? The diary’s instruction regarding the ring is on the brink of not getting fulfilled. Could Lola Babah be the premonition referred to in the diary if ever Alden loses it? Tune in to Eat Bulaga. A new character whose appearance is never announced. Maybe she’s a diva. Donya Babah blew Lola Nidora out of the water at the ALDUB Last Chance episode. Enough to unleash Lola Nidora’s insecurities.
